Turks hit Kurds with chemical weapons
This is why we went into Iraq!
Turkey leaders are inhuman!

August 13,  2010  German newspaper says photos of dead Kurds confirm use.
German politicians called on Thursday for an international investigation into the reported use of chemical weapons by the Turkish military.
The weapons were used against members of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK).

“Turkey needs to urgently look into these accusations,” said Ruprecht Polenz, chairman of the Foreign Affairs committee in the Bundestag and a member of Chancellor Angela Merkel’s Christian Democratic Union party.

Polenz recommended an international investigation to examine the deaths of eight Kurdish activists from the PKK. Claudia Roth, co-chair of the German Green party,
echoed Polenz’s criticisms, seconding his call for an investigation.

MP Andrej Hunko urged the German Foreign Ministry to file a complaint against Turkey with the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons in The Hague.
A forensic report from Hamburg University Hospital confirmed that the eight Kurds had been murdered by “the use of chemical substances.”

Turkish Kurdish human rights members delivered photos in March to a delegation of German politicians, Turkey specialists, and journalists.
The bodies in the photos were severely deformed and torn to pieces; the photos formed the basis for the forensic report.
Hans Baumann, a German expert on the authenticity of photos, confirmed that photos had not been doctored.

The eight Kurdish PKK members were killed last September. The 31 photos, according to German media, are so disturbing that news organizations have been reluctant to publish them. The murdered PKK rebels – two women and six men – range in age from 19 to 33.
The allegation of employing chemical weapons against the Kurdish minority group could further taint Turkey’s battered human rights record.

Turkey’s nearly 12 million Kurds are seeking increased rights and autonomy. Turkey’s armed forces have, according to human rights groups, brutally suppressed the Kurdish ethnic minority’s attempts to secure more independence in the southeast. In July, a series of violent clashes between the Turkish military and Kurdish rebels broke out. The PKK had previously attacked a Turkish military post, killing eight Turkish soldiers, prompting a wave of military strikes resulting in the deaths of 12 Kurds.

Turkey is a signatory to the Chemical Weapons Convention. The alleged use of chemical weapons would constitute a violation of the anti-chemical weapons treaty.

The Turkish Foreign Ministry denied engaging in chemical and biological warfare, according to a report in the daily Tageszeitung. The paper noted that German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle had been informed of the chemical weapons allegations before his trip to Turkey in late July, but has declined to take diplomatic action.

US mulls relations with Turkey
August 14,  2010
Republican senators oppose appointment of designated Ankara ambassador alluding to need for debate on dwindling relations with Islamic state.
Meanwhile, US administration reevaluates relations with Turkey following its endorsement of Iran in UN

US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton convened a special meeting of State Department and National Security Council officials to discuss the United States' relations with Turkey
in the backdrop of the Ankara-Jerusalem crisis and following Turkey's decision to vote against tougher sanctions on Iran in the Security Council.

The aim of the meeting was to reevaluate US policy towards Turkey. State officials stressed that the meeting was the first in a series of important discussions on the matter.

US senior officials are infuriated with Turkey over its Iran endorsement, a sentiment demonstrated by Republican senators' refusal to approve the appointment of designated US ambassador to Ankara, Frank Ricciardone.
While the objection is based on character issues, the US administration is certain that a senate vote on the appointment will prompt a public debate on US-Turkey relations and raise opposition from both the democratic and republican ends of the political spectrum.

Republic Senator Sam Brownback has filed a motion to halt the appointment and according to one report is also preparing a paper for Clinton explaining his opposition. Many other senators may follow suit.

The official reasoning is that Ricciardone is the wrong man for the job under the current climate. The opposers claim that during his years in service in Turkey, Egypt, Afghanistan and Iraq Ricciardone emerged as particularly sympathetic to the countries in which he was stationed and less eager to promote American democratic and human rights values.

Ricciardone's supporters regard him as a competent professional with 34 years of experience in foreign service. Nevertheless, his personal capabilities would not have been on the agenda had US-Turkey relations not been in such a serious crisis.

Roadside bomb kills 9 aboard minibus in Turkey
September 17,  2010
A roadside bomb attack killed at least 9 people Thursday in the latest violence that shook Turkey's turbulent southeast where terrorist Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) militants fought a bitter war for autonomy for decades, authorities said.

The incident occurred near the village of Geçitli in the rugged Hakkari province, bordering Iran and Iraq. Gov. Muammer Güler of Hakkari said eight were killed and three others, including a baby, were injured in the explosion. Earlier CNN-Türk television, citing Cihan news agency, had put the death toll at 12, but authorities confirmed eight deaths.
Turkish troops launched a manhunt to find the terrorists, believed to be behind the attack, the governor said.

The terrorists have targeted military vehicles with improvised explosive devices, including Wednesday in Hakkari province. There have also been several other attacks on police by PKK terrorists over the past week, which would violate a cease-fire that the terrorists declared before a religious holiday as a pro-Kurdish party called on the government to open dialogue with the terrorists for a peaceful solution.

The pro-Kurdish Peace and Democracy Party boycotted a referendum Sunday over the constitution, arguing that ethnic Kurdish identity was not fully recognized by the state.
The terrorists have been fighting in the country's Kurdish-dominated southeast since 1984. The PKK is known as terrorist organization by the US and EU. The conflict has killed tens of thousands of people.

Chinese Su-27 over Iran and Turkey  Sad

Chinese warplanes over Turkey and Iran

October 12, 2010    DEBKAfile Exclusive Report

The arrival of China as a new Middle East player startled Washington and Jerusalem.
Turkish PM Erdogan met Syrian president Assad in Damascus Oct. 11 about the role China is willing to play in the military-intelligence alliance binding Syria, Iran and Turkey.
Erdogan took the credit for China's unfolding involvement in the alliance in the role of big-power backer.

Chinese Sukhoi Su-27 and Mig-29 warplanes joined the Turkish Air Force regular annual Anatolian Eagle exercise Sept. 20 to Oct. 6th.
The USA opted out.  Konya air base in central Turkey has served NATO and the United States for decades as one of their most important air bases.

Explosion rocks central Istanbul, TURKEY

October  31,  2010

A suspected suicide bomber detonated a device in Istanbul's main square on Sunday, wounding 15 people, Istanbul's police chief said.
Television pictures from Taksim Square showed body parts lying on the ground.
Turkish reports said the explosion occurred close to a spot in Taksim square where riot police were stationed in case of demonstrations.
Police chief Huseyin Capkin said 9 police officers and six passers-by were injured in the attack. At least two of the injured were in serious condition.

"It appears to be a suicide bomber. At the moment there are six citizens and nine police injured. We have no martyrs," he said, referring to any victims.
Capkin said the suspected bomber is male. He gave no further information.
Witness Veysel Surmeli told CNN-Turk television that police cordoned off the area. Ambulances had arrived on the scene and medics were attending some of the injured.

Chinese Commando Forces on the Turkish Mountains

10 November 2010     Wednesday

The People's Liberation Army of China and the Turkish Armed Forces kicked off a one-week joint military training on Monday in Turkey, China Radio International reports.
The drill, held between commando forces of the two armies, focuses on basic skills of combating in mountain regions, the Chinese Ministry of National Defense said in a statement on its website.
The drill is the first of its kind and aims to deepen the military cooperation and improve the combating ability between the two armies.

Turkish and Chinese militaries had also conducted a joint aerial exercise in central Anatolia, between 20 September and 4 October. Taking into account the concern of the United States, Turkey had used during the exercise F-4 fighters, rather than F-16 fighters. The Russian-made SU-27s used by the Chinese air force and refueled in Iran.

Oh the INSANITY!

NATO missile shield
US security guarantees for Israel worthless when Turkey controls missile shield
USA and NATO surrender to Turkey, which is the MOST DANGEROUS nation in the mideast today.

November 20, 2010

By bowing to Ankara's demand to omit Iran, Syria and their ballistic missiles as a threat from the NATO agreement to establish a missile shield base in Turkey,
Barak HUSSEIN Obama has devalued US security guarantees offered Israel.
The missile shield and its location in Europe were conceived in the first place for detecting and defusing Iranian and Syrian ballistic missile before they reached Europe or the United States.

The missile base will come under the command of a Turkish general.
TURKEY is totally aligned with China, Iran and Syria.
They will NOT defend Israel!  debka is far too easy on this!

Turkey and Israel
December 7, 2010  Turkey toughens terms for mending relations with Israel
Israel and Turkey are meeting but its not getting anywhere.
Turkey demands an apology for Israel's self defense May 31.
I hope Israel DOES NOT apologize, as Turkey was 100% in the wrong.
Turkey helped Israel extinguish the fires, but it was NOT a peace gesture.
Instead it was for propaganda against Israel.
That will play with the stupid Muslims, but not with thinking people.

Turkey upset over Israel-Cyprus deal
December 20,  2010    Turkey is crazy
Turkish website says Ankara reprimanded Israeli ambassador over territorial water division. PM Erdogan says agreement futile until peace agreement reached with Syria, Lebanon and Palestinians.
An agreement meant to prevent disputes over oil and gas fields may stir diplomatic crisis in Mediterranean: Turkish sources said Sunday that Foreign Ministry officials had summoned Israel's Ambassador to Turkey Gabby Levy and expressed discontent over an agreement signed between Israel and Cyprus, which demarcates the exclusive economic zone within the territorial waters of the two countries and divides their rights to search for oil and gas reservoirs in the Mediterranean Sea.
Erdogan firmly opposes any maritime agreement between Cyprus and countries in the eastern Mediterranean, because it undermines the status of Turkish Cyprus and its stake of the territorial waters.

During the meeting with Levy, officials at the Turkish Foreign Ministry stressed that
"Turkey opposes the agreement until a just and inclusive solution is reached in the Cyprus conflict."
Turkey is the only country in the world that recognizes Turkish Cyprus.
The report also stated that Turkey would not hesitate sending its naval forces to the area, in order to thwart any oil field exploration.

TURKEY is the winner
March 2, 2011
Turkey's regional status grows stronger as Middle East mayhem continues.
For the moment, Turkey seems to be a major winner in the midst of the unrest in the Mideastern and North African Muslim world.
This is not a result of anything it has done, but derives largely from the loss of power of other nations.
There are 3 major nations in the Middle East, Turkey, Iran and Egypt.  Saudi Arabia has a substantially higher Gross Domestic Product but its population of 25 million is much smaller.

For Turkey, the Iranian situation offers two alternative scenarios. The first one is that Ahmadinejad stays in power, but is weakened. In this case Turkey, due to the Western sanctions against Iran, can substantially develop its exports there. The second scenario is that the mullah regime falls. There may be ongoing unrest in Iran, yet this is unlikely to inconvenience Turkey too much because its own power centers are located in cities rather far away from the Iranian border. In that scenario, Iran as a competitor for hegemony in the Middle East falls by the wayside.

A new kind of Ottoman “empire” may emerge - no longer colonial in nature but one of influence. Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu is an academic who promotes “neo-Osmanism”, a kind of Turkish Muslim commonwealth. A decline in influence of other countries in the region will subsequently also change the rules for those who need protection. If the Iranian regime collapses, not only Hamas with whom Turkey has good relations but several countries and groups including Hezbollah, will soon have to turn to Turkey for guidance and assistance of various kinds.

Turkey’s situation in the West has also improved further, due to its stability in a region of increasing instability. As a member of NATO, it has access to a large number of defense secrets of the West. As it is unlikely that Turkey will gain access to the European Union, it still can play its game showing that the EU is snubbing it, thereby justifying verbal attacks on some member countries.

In the meantime, there remain allies in the EU for the promised acceptance of Turkey as a member country. Its strongest supporter is Britain, but there are others as well, for instance Sweden and Belgium (which held the European presidency until recently.) In Germany former socialist chancellor Gerhard Schröder this week again came out strongly in support of EU membership.

Turkey does not have to worry – if it is not brought in as an EU member, it will have to be bought off with substantial economic concessions to compensate for the change in European policies. Thus, it can simultaneously benefit from the EU and claim that it has been cheated by it.

Turkey will run Benghazi, LIBYA airport
March 28, 2011

NOT GOOD NEWS! Turkey has gone hardcore Islamic anti-Israel crazy in the past 2 years.
Turkey prime minister says his country will take over the running of the airport in Benghazi to facilitate the transport of humanitarian aid to Libya.
Recep Tayyip Erdogan, speaking to reporters Monday, did not say when NATO's only Muslim member would assume control.
Turkey has contributed four frigates and a submarine to the enforcement of the UN arms embargo on Libya.
Erdogan said Turkey would also participate in the enforcement of the no-fly zone but would not take part in ground attacks.
He said Turkey would never use "guns or bullets" against Libyans. (AP)
