Iran threatens to invade Pakistan
October 19, 2009
-  The commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafary threatened crushing retaliation against the US, UK and Pakistan including the invasion of Pakistan. Tehran links all 3 to the suicide bombing attack Oct. 18 which killed 42 people including 7 senior Guards officers.  One of those killed was Gen. Shoustari, commander of terror bases in Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon and Gaza.  This the first time an Iranian military leader has threatened to strike US and British targets.

More Like This Is Coming
When President Regan took office he rebuilt our military and he built it in a way that we could out muscle and out gun those the opposed us. These so called terror groups were afraid to do anything against America, but ever since Obama has come into office they have grown braver and braver in their attacks and if this attack is a sign of things to come, America could very well be next on their list. Even the might Russian Bear has felt the sting of their death dealers. By trying to talk to these nuts we have done nothing but weakened ourselves and given them time to rearm and rebuild, becoming stronger everyday. Until a new President comes into play and one with a strong will and backbone we who live in America and those stationed in places all over the world looking out for Amrica's intrests will be nothing but targets walking around waiting to be zeroed in on. Only GOD can save America now and the only way America can be saved if she repents! That my Brothers and Sisters is something I doubt any of us will ever see. May GOD bless Israel and all of her people and may GOD bless America and those who love HIM. May GODbless our Troops and their familoies back home and may GODbless and be with all of the men and women of the IDF as they prepare for a far greater storm that is brewing and coming their way.

Christian woman sentenced to death in Pakistan for blasphemy
09 Nov 2010
-  A Christian woman has been sentenced to hang in Pakistan after being convicted of defaming the Prophet Mohammed.  Asia Bibi, a 45-year-old mother-of-five, denies blasphemy and told investigators that she was being persecuted for her faith in a country where Christians face routine harassment and discrimination.

Christian groups and human rights campaigners condemned the verdict and called for the blasphemy laws to be repealed.  Her supporters say she will now appeal against the sentence handed down in a local court in the town of Sheikhupura, near Lahore, Pakistan.

Reuters - NO survivors after a Pakistani airliner with 127 people on board crashed in bad weather as it came in to land in Islamabad on Friday, scattering wreckage and leaving no sign of survivors.
The Boeing 737, operated by local airline Bhoja Air, was flying to the capital from Pakistan's biggest city and business hub Karachi.
It crashed into wheat fields more than 5 miles from the airport.

Rescue workers walked through mud at the crash site looking for passenger remains.
Body parts, wallets and eyeglasses lay among wreckage strewn in a small settlement just outside Islamabad.
"It was as if the entire sky had burst into flames," said a resident of the area.
(Hmmm .. a bomb?  a missile?)

Parts of the aircraft smashed into electricity poles or into houses, blanketing the area in darkness. There were no reports of casualties on the ground.
A man waiting at Airport for the flight yelled "my two daughters are dead" as tears streamed down his face.
One couple aboard were looking forward to their honeymoon.
The Boeing Company said in a statement on its website that it "wishes to extend its profound condolences to the families and friends" of the Bhoja Air passengers.

152 confirmed dead in Pakistan jet crash
28 July 2010
No survivors after Pakistan jet crash.
Aircraft carrying 152 people goes down while landing during rainstorm.
All 152 people aboard a Pakistani jet died when the passenger plane crashed into hills as it tried to land.  The head of Pakistan's civil defense body told NBC News that no one travelling aboard the Airblue flight had survived.

Earlier reports suggested that up to five survivors had been pulled from the wreckage after the plane smashed into heavily wooded hillside during a rainstorm. There was no explanation for the discrepancy, but reports often differ in the immediate aftermath of such events.

Rescuers said they had to dig through the debris with their bare hands, with flames and thick smoke hampering their work. There are no roads near the crash site, limiting access to rescue workers.

NBC News reported that muddy paths through the thickly wooded and foggy area were making it difficult for doctors and paramedics to reach the site by foot.

The cause of the crash of flight ED202 was not immediately clear, said Pervez George, a civil aviation official. He said the Airbus 321 was flying from Karachi to Islamabad.

PAKISTAN has launched an investigation into the crash of a passenger jet while it was attempting to land during a thunderstorm.
All 127 people on board are believed to have died.
The Bhoja Air flight from Karachi burst into flames on Friday evening after coming down in fields near the village of Hussain Abad,
on the outskirts of Islamabad, as it approached the capital's international airport.
The airline said the Boeing 737 was carrying 121 passengers, including 11 children, and six crew.  We cannot identify them because some of the bodies are not recognisable.

Pakistan factory fires kill 246
12 September 2012  BREAKING NEWS
LATEST At least 246 people are now known to have died in a fire at a garment factory in the southern Pakistan city of Karachi.
2 separate blazes at factories in Pakistan, Lahore in the NE and Karachi in the south.
Combined death toll has risen to 128 at the Karachi fire at a garment factory and the Lahore fire at a shoe factory.
Dozens more injured
Some were injured jumping from the burning building.
The Lahore fire was attributed to a faulty electricity generator. Medical officials said some people had died of suffocation while others were burned alive as the fire took hold.

aljzera report
In Lahore, the fire swept through a 4 story shoe factory and killed 25 people, some from burns and some from suffocation.
The factory was illegally set up in a residential part of the city.

It broke out when people in the building were trying to start their generator after the electricity went out.
Sparks from the generator made contact with chemicals used to make the shoes, igniting the blaze.
Pakistan faces widespread blackouts, and many people use generators to provide electricity for their houses or to run businesses.

A firefighter at the scene said the reason most of the victims died was because the main escape route was blocked.
The people went to the back side of the building but there was no access.
Firefighters broke holes in the factory's brick walls to reach victims inside. At the morgue, bodies were lined up on a hallway floor, covered with white sheets.

Police in the Pakistani city of Karachi have opened a murder case against the owner of a garment factory where a fire killed more than 250 people this week.

Pakistan: 26 troops dead in NATO helicopter attack
Nov 26, 2011
PESHAWAR — Pakistan accused NATO helicopters of firing on two army checkpoints in the country's northwest and killing 26 soldiers, then retaliated by closing the border crossings used by the coalition to supply its troops in neighboring Afghanistan.
The incident Friday night was a major blow to already strained relations between Islamabad and U.S.-led forces fighting in Afghanistan. It will add to perceptions in Pakistan that the American presence in the region is malevolent, and to resentment toward the weak government in Islamabad for its cooperation with Washington.
It comes a little over a year after a similar but less deadly strike, in which U.S. helicopters accidentally killed two Pakistani soldiers near the Afghan border, whom the pilots mistook for insurgents. Pakistan responded by closing the Torkham border crossing to NATO supplies for 10 days until the U.S. apologized.

Pakistan Air Force planes collide, 9 killed
May 17,  2012
- 2 Pakistan Air Force light aircraft have collided in mid-air on a routine training mission north-west of Islamabad killing two trainee pilots and two instructors.
Correspondents say it was the second Pakistan Air Force crash in a week and the sixth in seven months.
The crashes have raised concerns about the safety of its predominantly Chinese and locally-made fleet.
The cause of the latest accident was not immediately clear.
One of the two-seater propelled Mushshak planes crashed into a house, injuring a girl and an elderly man, while the second came down in fields in the Rashkai area, 160km (100 miles) north-west of the capital.
On Friday a fighter jet crashed near the south-western town of Sonmiani but the pilot managed to eject safely.

Pakistan ID cards remove ghost voters, target poor for aid
Nov 22, 2012
- Elderly men wait patiently, carefully combing their hennaed beards, while a guitar-playing student entertains the long queue of Pakistanis lined-up to be photographed, fingerprinted and questioned inside a crowded office in the capital Islamabad.
This is the unlikely setting for possibly one of Pakistan's few success stories - a massive increase in citizens signing up for government identity cards.
Such things rarely top the agenda of a deeply unpopular government, crippled by daily power cuts, a Taliban insurgency and massive corruption.
But bureaucrats say the successful ID registration has dramatically cut the number of ghost voters and is assisting in the distribution of cash payments for the poor and displaced.

Bomb kills 7, targets Shiite religious procession in Pakistan
November 24, 2012
7 people died, including three children, in a blast targeting a Shiite religious procession in Pakistan Saturday, police spokesman Khalid Sohail said.
Shia Islam is a minority religion in the mainly Sunni Muslim country, and its members face persecution from extremists. The Pakistani Taliban took responsibility for similar attacks earlier this week but no one claimed responsibilty for Saturday's attack.

The bomb was planted in a garbage container in the city of Dera Ismail Khan and exploded as the last section of the procession was passing by, in which children were following adults, said Sohail.
The blast injured 18 more, including five children and two police officials. The city lies more than 200 miles west of Lahore.
The country is on high alert due to the two-day high holy Shiite holiday of Ashura, in which believers mourn the death of a key imam in the seventh century.

The government is taking precautionary measures to increase security for the observance, which culminates Saturday.
Interior Minister Rehman Malik has temporarily blocked cell phone services in cities, where gathered intelligence indicated the possibility of bombs detonated by cell phone.
He has also banned motor bikes, a popular object to conceal bombs in, for two days in some cities.
He said the safeguards were implemented specifically to protect Shiites.
At least 31 people were killed and 68 wounded in multiple bomb attacks Wednesday despite heightened security.

Musharraf arrives back in Pakistan
March 24, 2013
Former Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf has arrived back in Pakistan, ending 4 years of self-imposed exile and defying death threats.
Supporters aboard his jet cheered when it touched down in Karachi airport after a flight from Dubai.
General Musharraf, who plans to lead his party in the May general election, said he was taking precautions.

Meanwhile, 17 soldiers were killed by a suicide bomber in the north-west of Pakistan overnight.
They were attacked at a security checkpoint in the tribal region of North Waziristan, close to the Afghan border and a known Taliban stronghold.
Taliban threatened Gen Musharraf with snipers and suicide bombers.
He faces a string of charges including conspiracy to murder.  I DO NOT believe he is guilty.

One of the charges is that he failed to provide adequate security for opposition leader Benazir Bhutto after she returned from exile in 2007.
Two deadly explosions, in which nearly 140 people died, greeted her arrival in Karachi on 19 October. She was killed that December
at a rally in Rawalpindi.
