Yom Teruah, Feast of Trumpets
Rosh Hashannah (Yom Teruah) is on Tishrei 1 which is September 9, 2010
Rosh HaShanah is GOD's New Year.
The days between Rosh Ha Shanah and Yom Kippur are called The Days of Awe - GOD's Judgment.
YOM KIPPUR, the holiest day of the year for Jews, The Day of Atonement.
It lasts for 7 days until Sukkot.
It is a time of judgment.
It is called - the day no one knows the day or hour.
Yom Kippur is Repentance, Fasting, Prayer and charity. Leviticus 16,1-34 and Lev 23,26-32 and Numbers 29,7-11 and Psalm 35,13
This is a day dedicated to fasting and intense prayer on which Jews ask Yahveh GOD, (NOT ALLAH!) to atone for our sins,
and Christians thank the Lord He did it.
Isaiah 58 describes an acceptable fast day, must be accompanied by righteous action, and that the fast and prayer
of a person who oppresses or neglects the poor and hungry shall not be received.
In Joel 2 we read fasting must be accompanied with GENUINE REPENTANCE. Turn to the LORD with all your heart.
Rosh Hashannah is considered the Jewish New Year, but it comes on the seventh month on the first day.
In the Jewish world it is considered the birthday of the world.
30 days of preparation end with Yom Teruah, Trumpets in Hebrew, so its the day of sounding the trumpets, or known today as Rosh Ha Shannah.
When is Yom Teruah?
The biblical festival of Yom Teruah, the Day of Shouting/Trumpeting (literally: noise-making).
The moon will definitely be visible from Israel on Friday night September 10, so the question is whether it will also be visible Thursday night.
The answer is yes and no. Yes it will be visible Thursday night, but no, not from the Land of Israel. Let me explain.
Thursday night the moon will have 2.5% illumination over Jerusalem and normally that should make it easy to sight.
But the lagtime - the time between sunset and moonset - will only be 23 minutes.
This short lagtime means that the moon will set before the light of the sun fades, making it impossible to see the moon.
As you travel south the lagtime will increase, so in the southern hemisphere and even in some parts of the northern hemisphere it will be easy to see but not in Israel.
I will be traveling down to Eilat where the lagtime will increase to 26 minutes.
Previous experience indicates that 26 minutes will not be enough to sight the moon, although I will attempt to do so.
I will be sending out a report late Thursday when I return from Eilat, but it's a 4.5 hour drive to Jerusalem so that probably won't be until well after midnight.

Yom Teruah, Day of the Shofar Blast
And in the seventh month, on the first day of the month, you shall have an holy convocation.
You shall do no servile work: it is a day of blowing the trumpets unto you. Numbers 29:1
YHVH spoke to Moses, saying, "Speak to the sons of Israel, saying,
‘In the seventh month on the first of the month you shall have a rest, a reminder by blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation.
‘You shall not do any laborious work, but you shall present an offering by fire to YHVH.’" Leviticus 23:23-25
Yom Teruah basically means a day of noise/blasts.
Yom Teruah is known as the Feast of Trumpets in Christianity and is better known as Rosh Hashannah (the new year) in modern Judaism.
But Yom Teruah isn't really the 'Jewish New Year,' in fact, it falls on the first day of Etanim, (also known traditionally as Tishri) which is the seventh month in YHVH's calendar.
The real 'new year' is in Aviv (also known traditionally as Nisan) when Pesakh/Passover occurs.
Yom Teruah begins a ten-day period leading up to the holiest day of YHVH's calendar, Yom Kippur -- the "Day Of Atonement."
These 10 days are called the 'Days of Awe' in modern Judaism.
Modern Judaism also includes the preceding month of Elul also as a time to prepare for the upcoming Fall moedim (appointed times).
The sounding of the shofar on Yom Teruah is a wake-up blast -- a reminder that the time is near for the Day of Atonement.
It is time to teshuvah (repent, turn back to YHVH). Traditionally, these ten days are ones of heart searching and self examination --
the shofar warns us we need to examine our lives and make amends with all those we have wronged in the previous year,
and to ask forgiveness for any vows we may have broken. So a main theme of the Fall Holy Days is repentance.
Hearing the shofar blow is a mitzvah (command). Most Messianic congregations follow tradition when it comes to 'how' to blow the shofar.
Traditionally, the Baal Tekiah (shofar blower) begins with one held blast called Tekiah; followed by three broken blasts called Shevarim; followed by nine even faster broken blasts called Teruah.
The Tekiah, Shevarim, and Teruah each last the same length of time. These are repeated three times.
Then the Baal Tekiah concludes by blowing and holding a final blast as long as he can (basically, until he runs out of breath).
This final blast is called Tekiah Gedolah. I am not convinced that this arrangement of blows is important to fulfill the biblical command of blowing the shofar,
but I see nothing wrong if tradition prevails in this instance. Scripturally, no such blast arrangement is mentioned, but as long as the shofar is blown and people hear it,
I would consider the mitzvah satisfied. Ellen Kavanaugh

DO NOT equate this with occult!! It is biblical.
Holy Days and Mid East War
I put this together because many are speculating on mideast war being imminent.
It seems too early to publish this, but because of war possibilities, I am putting it in now.
I will be surprised if Israel does any attacking before the end of September.
I will NOT be surprised if Arab nations attack Israel on September 11th.
Muslim Ramadan began Aug, 10 and runs for 30 days, till Sept 11th. They fast til sundown, then pig out.
Muslims and Jews both follow a lunar calendar. Eid al-Fitr celebration marks the end of the Muslims Ramadan.
In 2010 it falls around Sept. 11th, the anniversary of their attacks on AmeriKa. They want a mosque in NYC to
declare their victory over the U.S.A. This day Muslims believe they are empowered to do anything and succeed.
Muslims celebrated the 2001 terrorist strikes. NEWS of course will tell you they are NOT celebrating their victory over Amerika.
It was Ramadan when Arabs attacked Israel in 1973 and nearly won, as that day was Israel's holiest day, Yom Kippur.
This is VERY possibly the day the Arab nations will attack Israel, believing they will win.
I find it interesting that the Jewish and Islamic holy days often run into each other.
Some years they are together, other years a month apart, just like Christian and Jewish holy days.
Because the day begins at sundown, there is a variance on calandars.

The war began with a joint surprise attack against Israel on Yom Kippur, when Egypt and Syria crossed cease-fire lines.

|Yom Kippur speculation
After experiencing an unexpectedly quiet Rosh Hashanah, I started to contemplate what the next "watch date" might be.
Naturally, the next "appointed time" will be 10 days hence on Yom Kippur.
And I started to ask, why is this holiest of holy days, 10 days after the anniversary of the birth of Adam, and subsequently Yeshua?
These holy days mark a significant act of God in the past, are rehearsed in the present, and will be fulfilled in the future.
What occurred 10 days after a Rosh Hashanah that would be considered even greater than Passover?
Traditionally it is believed that this is when Moses returned with a second set of the 10 Commandments and the children of Israel received atonement for their sin of the golden calf.
This may be true but it is difficult for me to believe that a repeat performance would be rated higher than the initial.
Then the Holy Spirit started to show me that the first Yom Kippur most likely occurred in the Garden of Eden. I present this for discernment and comments.
On the sixth day God created Adam and Eve. This was man's first day and the first Rosh Hashanah. On man's second day, God rested.
One Sabbath of days later would be man's ninth day.
I believe that the 10th day from the first Rosh Hashanah was Genesis 3:8 when they heard the voice of the Lord God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid themselves.
The first Yom Kippur was Genesis 3:21 Unto Adam also and to his wife did the LORD God make coats of skins, and clothed them.
This was the first atonement, the shedding of blood of an innocent lamb for the sins of man.
This sacrifice will be repeated and perverted throughout the generations of man until that final judgment day approved by the Father.
That then begs the question as to whether the Feast of Tabernacle's fits into this pattern, though again we know that this is also a reminder of when the children of Israel were in the wilderness. That brings us to Genesis 3:23- 24 Therefore the LORD God sent him forth from the garden of Eden, to till the ground from whence he was taken. So he drove out the man; ... .
Adam and Eve were in the middle (midst) of the garden, and I'm sure that a four or five-day journey on foot would be reasonable to consider. That would put them outside of their promised land at the time of the beginning of Tabernacle's.
The Fall Feasts can be a picture of the fall of man. The spring feasts show the process of bringing man out of Egypt (the world). The Fall feasts show the final process of removing the world (Egypt) from the man. And Yeshua is the reason for both of these seasons.

Just before the show get's really intense, we will be taken away, the Dead in Christ first, then those who remain alive, (at this point only the Body of Christ).
The reason I say this, I am so strong against Replacement Theology. God, (YHVH) is not finished with His compassion on Israel. PTL!!!!!!!!!! The Church must be taken away to the Marriage Feast of the Lamb, where we will then join the Lion of the Tribe of Judah as He returns to Earth on the White Horse, and we will see the last battle. Israel will be saved on that wonderful day!
As for Replacement Theology, has God forgotten the Jew, Heaven Forbid (Romans 11).
Rather, Israel will have their appointment with Jesus (Yeshua) in the second last battle, Ezekiel's battle, where Zechariah 12:8-11 states,
"In that day the LORD will defend the inhabitants of Jerusalem; the one who is feeble among them in that day shall be like David, and the house of David shall be like God, like the Angel of the LORD before them. 9 It shall be in that day that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem.
10 "And I will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication; then they will look on Me whom they pierced. Yes, they will mourn for Him as one mourns for his only son, and grieve for Him as one grieves for a firstborn. 11 In that day there shall be a great mourning in Jerusalem, like the mourning at Hadad Rimmon in the plain of Megiddo.
I would be interested to hear how others out there are now seeing this whole topic. I am blessed to be attending a Prophecy Conference this weekend, but once again, as big as the names may be, at this point it is all just speculation, conjecture. One day, very soon, we will have front row seats!

September 23 - 29, 2010 This was written for the Hebrews (Jews)
On the fifteenth of this seventh month is the Feast of Tabernacles for seven days to Yahweh.
On the first day is a solemn assembly; you shall do no laborious work of any kind.
You shall dwell in tabernacles for seven days.
Hag Sukkot / Feast of Tabernacles holiday
The 15th thru the 21st Day of the month Tishrei - beginning at sundown
Observing Hag Sukkot - the Feast of Tabernacles, means having a 7 day (hag) feast, dwelling in a (sukkah) tabernacle, and keeping the first day holy (dedicated to worship).
For 7 nights we sleep in a sukkah - a temporary shelter made from tree branches and leaves, not a hotel room or cabin. One may work during the day except on the first day.
For 7 days we eat a festive meal of symbolic foods - including tree fruit and nuts: this is the final-harvest festival. The evening festive meal is eaten in the sukkah, as well as any other meals eaten 'at home'.
Drawing Out Living Waters
Whoever did not see the rejoicing of (this water drawing ceremony) never saw rejoicing in his lifetime. (Mishnah: Sukkah 5:1)
On each of the seven days of Sukkot, the High Priest took a golden pitcher and filled it with water drawn from the Pool of Siloam.
It was brought into the Temple through the Water Gate (hence the name), and poured into a bowl at the Altar, alongside the pouring of the wine, during the daily burnt-offering (Talmud: Sukkah 4:9).
This water libation was performed only during Sukkot.
The Talmud states, "Why is the name of it called the Drawing Out of Water?
Because of the pouring out of the Holy Spirit, according to what is said: ‘With joy shall ye draw out of the wells of salvation’ " (Isaiah 12:3).
Now on the last day, the great day of the feast, Yeshua stood and cried out, saying, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink.
He who believes in Me, as the Scripture said, ‘From his innermost being shall flow rivers of living water.’
But this He spoke of the Spirit, whom those who believed in Him were to receive; for the Spirit was not yet given, because Yeshua was not yet glorified. (John 7:37-39)
Light of the World
At the end of the first day of the Feast, three 80 foot high golden candlesticks were set up in the Temple’s Court of Women.
Four golden bowls were placed on each candlestick, and four ladders rested against each.
A youth of priestly descent stood at the top of each ladder, pouring oil from a ten-gallon pitcher into the bowl (Talmud: Sukkah 5:3)
The worn-out liturgical garments of Priests were used for wicks.
The light from these candlesticks was so bright that it was state,
There was no courtyard in Jerusalem that was not lit up with the light at the water-well ceremony. (Talmud: Sukkah 5:3)
Yeshua spoke publicly on Sukkot, saying,
I AM the LIGHT of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in the darkness, but shall have the light of life. (John 8:12)
The Birth of Yeshua (Jesus) on Sukkot
YES - NOT in December!
Messiah’s birth, about AM 3750 - 3756 (10 - 4 BC), was expectantly awaited (Matthew 2:1-1 because within about 40 years Daniel’s prophecy concerning Him must be fulfilled.
The prophet Micah wrote that He was destined to be born in Beth-Lechem (Bethlehem) — the House of Bread (Micah 5:2).
(God called Him the Bread from Heaven (John 6:32-36), though men say Manna (Exodus 16:31) — What is It?)
It was because of this prophecy that King Herod had the children of Bethlehem killed, to protect his throne against the coming promised king.
The rabbis who translated the Septuagint taught from the prophet Isaiah that He would be born of a virgin (Isaiah 7:14) and would be called Immanuel — God with Us.
In the expected time and place, on the Festival of Sukkot,* in a succah (tabernacle, temporary dwelling) where
Passover lambs were raised in the city of the shepherd David, a
Son was born to a virgin descended from that Messiah David (Matthew 1, Luke 3:23-3.
At an angel’s command (Matthew 1:21), He was named Yeshua, (Joshua) meaning " Salvation." God would dwell with us in a sukkah of humanity that would be bruised by the serpent, then crush that old serpent!
The apostle Yochanan (John) tells us that the Word (of God) became flesh and "dwelt in a sukkah" (tabernacled) among us (John 1:14).
The author views Sukkot as figurative of Messiah"s coming to dwell among His people; this reference is not submitted as proof of a dogmatic date.
When Zekharya (Zechariah) was ministering in the temple, he received an announcement from God of a coming son.
The second course of Abia,12 when Zekharya was ministering, was a week in the middle of Sivan.
If Zekharya’s promised son Yochanan (John the baptizer) were conceived soon thereafter, then Yeshua’s conception, which was six months later,
would be late Chislev to early Tevet, near Chanukah (the Feast of Dedication); His birth would thence be at mid Tishri, the Feast of Sukkot (Tabernacles).
The month of Tishri (in the fall) also fits with the season of shepherds being out with their flocks by night, as they were when Yeshua was born; during winter the lambs are kept indoors.
Later in His life, Yeshua celebrated His birthday on a mountain with 3 of His disciples (Matthew 17:1-9, Mark 9:1-10).
In contrast to birthday parties, such as Herod’s (Matthew 14:6-12), where people were killed for entertainment, His was a celebration of life.
On the Festival of Sukkot, Moses and Elijah, from centuries past, representatives of the Torah and the Prophets, appeared and talked with Yeshua.
One disciple, Kepha (Peter), suggested building three sukkot for Yeshua, Moses, and Elijah, because it was required for the festival,
but he did not understand (Mark 9:6) that these three were fulfilling that which the festival symbolized: they were dwelling in their sukkot (temporary tabernacles) of flesh,
awaiting their eternal resurrection temples.

The prophetic fulfilment of this Holiday is clear. It is a time to thank God for our freedom, and that covers many types of freedoms.
To be a free people, and to be free to worship God. But the word that summed up the true meaning of Pessah is "Redemption".
Rabbi Saul (Paul) sums up this theme in his letter to the Corinthian believers. He was addressing a moral problem within their membership.
To solve this problem Saul draws upon a well-known analogy of Pessah.
"Your boasting is not good. Don’t you know the saying, it takes only a little chametz to leaven a whole batch of dough?
Get rid of the old chametz, so that you can be a new batch of dough, because in reality you are unleavened. For your Pessah Lamb, the Messiah, has been sacrificed.
So let us celebrate the Seder, not with leftover charmetz, the charmetz of wickedness and evil, but with the matzah of purity and truth". (I-Corinthians 5:6-8 )
Paul is telling Believers to celebrate Passover. To have a Seder (Passover Meal) that celebrates the deliverance from slavery and being a free people.
To set aside this day to thank, praise and worship God.
I don’t want to dwell on this too much but it was the Roman Catholic Church which declared that "to do so was far too Jewish," and they stopped the celebration of Passover in their "Church".
That, however, created a great problem. What about the Resurrection, what would they do about the fact that all the early believers celebrated the Resurrection on the day of First Fruits? (Part of the Passover celebration)
JESUS DIED at PASSOVER - NOT 'EASTER'
Yeshua died on the Feast of Pessah, was buried on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and rose on the Feast of First Fruits.
50 days later the Holy Spirit was sent on the next successive holiday; Shavuot (Pentecost). This is what is referred to as the first advent.
The first three holidays follow each other, in the first three days, (Pessah, Unleavened Bread, and First Fruits) and we celebrate them all within an 8 day period.
We simply call it Passover (Pessah).
But the Roman Catholic Church had a large dilemma, and they solved it with a bunch of Paganism brought in from Babylon, and called the Resurrection (First Fruits) "Easter". But enough of that for now. I want to just talk about Pessah so that you will understand it correctly.
Before going on, I want to make something clear, I am not suggesting that you must keep all the Jewish laws concerning Pessah. you have the freedom to adapt the preparation to a degree that you are comfortable with. Some may wish to celebrate more fully than others. It is well to note however that what I am saying is from God's Word. Therefore I know it pleases Him when His people reach out to Him in truth - as opposed to Paganism.
In a house there are many preparations required for the Seder. The house is cleaned from top to bottom. There is no bread or leaven left anywhere.
After the first week of Nisan, the focus is entirely directed toward Pessah.
After sundown on the fourteenth day of Nisan, a special ceremony called bedikat khameytz (the search for the leaven) takes place in the home.
The last tiny bits of leaven are found and removed from the house then taken outside and burned.
This is interesting because the house had been previously cleaned, so the head of the house has to hide some small bits here and there in the house to be found.
Then the head of the household takes a feather and a wooden spoon and a lighted candle. And the family begins searching for the final leaven.
This is a great time to get the children involved. It’s like the game of hide-and-seek.
There are many spiritual lessons for Believers here. The leaven (sin) must be cleaned from our house (our hearts). To do this we must use the light of the candle (the Word of God) which illuminates our sin (Psalm 119:11)
The most graphic emblem of all is the wooden spoon which holds the leaven, (this represents the wooden Cross which receives all of our sins and then carries them away).
The believer, who walks with God and is filled with His Spirit, will discern many spiritual truths in this, and begin to realise why the Word tells us to celebrate the Seder (Pesach).
It is my belief that when a true Believer discovers any Biblical truth, and applies it to their life, doing so enriches them.
So it is my prayer that you may experience a closer relationship with Messiah Yeshua our Passover Lamb in an intimate and practical way. Let us therefore celebrate the feast (I-Cor. 5:
So, after the preparation detailed above, we are ready to begin the festive feast of the Seder. It is full of wonderful spiritual truths for the Christian believer as well as the Jew. Hopefully you will find a good Haggadah (booklet of how to hold a Seder) and begin a spiritual journey that will enrich your life and give you a deeper, closer walk with our Messiah.

September 28th in the evening Israel enters into her season of an expectation from the Lord.
For many today in the streets of Israel you hear the words Hag Semach (or happy holiday, feast).
It is a time of year when the sound of the shofar is everywhere in the land. And the sound of the trumpet can bring many things.
As this new season dawns so many things hang in the balance.
We all know of what the nations have been trying to squeeze Israel into, and the volatility of the global economies.
Interesting how on the same day that the nations were getting ready to push Israel to surrender her God given land that the economies of the world began to shake more violently.
Stock markets began a very serious decline and declarations were being heard, if there is no solution to the Euro crises in the next 6 weeks, the Euro will fail.
I believe it will be on this day some day soon that great shofar blast from heaven will sound as well.
To many it will mean great time of trouble and to others a great time of celebration.
We need to hold on tight to the cross, knowing what was done for us by Yeshua on the cross for us and

This is what Adonai (the LORD) says about the High holidays:
From Leviticus 23
26 ADONAI said to Moshe,
27 "The tenth day of this seventh month is Yom-Kippur; you are to have a holy convocation, you are to deny yourselves, and you are to bring an offering made by fire to ADONAI.
28 You are not to do any kind of work on that day, because it is Yom-Kippur, to make atonement for you before ADONAI your God.
29 Anyone who does not deny himself on that day is to be cut off from his people;
30 and anyone who does any kind of work on that day, I will destroy from among his people.
31 You are not to do any kind of work; it is a permanent regulation through all your generations, no matter where you live.
32 It will be for you a Shabbat of complete rest, and you are to deny yourselves; you are to rest on your Shabbat from evening the ninth day of the month until the following evening."
33 ADONAI said to Moshe,
34 "Tell the people of Isra'el, 'On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of Sukkot for seven days to ADONAI.
35 On the first day there is to be a holy convocation; do not do any kind of ordinary work.
36 For seven days you are to bring an offering made by fire to ADONAI; on the eighth day you are to have a holy convocation and bring an offering made by fire to ADONAI ; it is a day of public assembly; do not do any kind of ordinary work.
37 "'These are the designated times of ADONAI that you are to proclaim as holy convocations and bring an offering made by fire to ADONAI -a burnt offering, a grain offering, a sacrifice and drink offerings, each on its own day
38 besides the Shabbats of ADONAI, your gifts, all your vows and all your voluntary offerings that you give to ADONAI.

The entire Chapter explain's G-d's designated or appointed times. These are not Jewish Holidays but G-d's appointed or designated times.
As I fellow Jew I know many secular Jews who do not follow G-d's appointed times and though the Jews were given the oracles of G-d,
these are not their feasts but the feasts of Adonai for all of Israel, natural born or grafted in, to follow.
But thank you for allowing the true church, body of Messiah, to learn of these appointed times.
The church not only does not follow G-d's appointed times, but they rather take the pagan & secular holidays and then appropriate them as the church's, hence the falling away of the church.
May the people of G-d know and follow Him through His word. Amen

Yom Kippur is October 7-8, 2011
The highest of the High Holidays – Yom Kippur – begins on Friday night, and Jews around the world are completing their last preparations for the solemn day that ends the Ten Days of Penitence.
Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement, is a Divinely-designated day that the Torah explains “will atone for you [plural] to purify you from all your sins before G-d.”
Such atonement, however, must generally be accompanied by teshuvah, a process that must include introspection, admission of sins, remorse, and a commitment not to repeat them.
One must also appease and ask forgiveness from those he has harmed or insulted over the year.
Many people visit the graves of their parents on the days before Yom Kippur, in preparation for the Yizkor service memorializing lost parents which is said during the fast.
The prayers for Yom Kippur, which begin with the Kol Nidre prayer said at night, then take up most of the day, are replete with the various concepts of teshuvah,
as well as acknowledgement of G-d’s goodness in affording mortals this opportunity to exonerate and improve themselves.
One of the dramatic prayers is a review of the High Priest's preparations and one time yearly entering the Holy of Holies in the Temple,
during which the each member of the congregation prostrates himself before G-d.
There is also a piyyut, liturgical poem, recalling the ten martyrs killed by the Romans, one of whom was Rabbi Akiva.
The fast begins just before sundown on Friday night, and ends some 25 hours later,
after the special Ne’ilah (locking, signifying that the gates of heaven are to be locked at the end of the fast) prayer, said standing.
At the prayer's end, the Shma Yisrael - Hear O Israel the Lord our G-d, the Lord is One - is recited aloud by the entire congregation,
followed by another two verses, including sevenfold loud repetition of the words "G-d is the Lord".
The end of the fast is signalled by a dramatic, lone shofar-blast and the immediate singing of "Next year in rebuilt Jerusalem".
In many Israeli synagogues, this is a signal for joyous dancing as the fast's end signals a lightening of spirits.
In addition to eating and drinking, also forbidden on this day are wearing leather shoes, washing up, make-up and perfumes, and marital relations.
The prohibitions notwithstanding, the day is considered a festive day, in that we celebrate G-d’s beneficence in going against natural law and allowing us to revoke and nullify our misdeeds.
It is also a “day of friendship and love," according to the prayer liturgy.
The day before Yom Kippur, the 9th of the Jewish month of Tishrei, is also considered a special day, and we are required to eat and drink even more than we normally do.
"Whoever eats and drinks on the 9th,” the Talmud states enigmatically, “is as [meritorious as] if he had fasted on both the 9th and the 10th." The custom of kaparot is done on the 9th.
The State of Israel is essentially closed down on Yom Kippur, with no public transportation or electronic broadcasts, and practically no open stores or services.
Bicycling on main roads and city streets has become a popular pastime on the holy day, to the dismay of many, as there is no traffic to be seen,
but the Tel Aviv municipality has decided to close the rental facilities over the fast.
Even more prevalent on this day are prayer services. Organizations make arrangements for secular-friendly prayer services around the country,
which have become extremely popular and well-attended in recent years.
Yom Kippur War
Israelis who are old enough to remember Yom Kippur 1973, recall how people were shocked to see cars driving down the streets in the early afternoon.
They were rounding up soldiers as the Yom Kippur War had broken out during the day - almost all of the soldiers, religious and secular,
were at their local synagogues and army cars went from synagogue to synagogue with lists, while sirens wailed shortly afterwards in Jerusalem and worshipers raced to shelters.
Memorial services for the war's fallen soldiers will be held on Sunday.
May we and all Israel be inscribed for a happy, healthy and blessed new year.

Yom Kippur - a day of introspection
The Feast of Tabernacles, Sukkot Booths
October 13th – 20th, Tishrei 15th 5772
The birth of Yeshua? The Lord Jesus Christ
Leviticus 23: 33-44 tells us the story of the Israelites and their journey out of Egypt and the following 40 years of wondering. We can find the name Sukkoth in Gen. 33:17 "And Jacob journeyed to Succoth; and built for himself a house, and made booths for the livestock, therefore the place is named Sukkoth." The Hebrew word Sukkoth means "hut"
The Biblical name for Sukkoth is "The Feast of Tabernacles". There are three times the Lord commanded the Jews to assemble in the Temple in Jerusalem. On these three Holidays they were to present offerings to the Lord. Those three are Passover, Shavu’ot, (Pentecost) and Sukkoth. Sukkoth is the third and last of the three.
But in the month of Tishri, there are three major Holidays of the Feast of the Tabernacle of the Lord, which is God’s perfect timetable. The month of Tishri falls in September or October on the Christian Calendar. They are Rosh HaShannah, Yom Kippur, and Sukkoth. These three are often called the Second Advent. The First Advent we have the Feast of Passover, Unleavened Bread and First Fruits. Yeshua died on Passover, He was buried on the Feast of Unleavened Bread, and He rose on First Fruits, 50 days later he sent the Holy Spirit on the Following Feast of Shavuoth (Pentecost). So we see here that God is setting up a pattern for us to look for. So we need to look at the remainder of the three Feasts to see the rest of the story, (sounds like Paul Harvey) something as important as the Birth of the Messiah would surely fit into this pattern.
You can purchase books everywhere that tell you about how to celebrate this Holiday so I will stay on subject, and only touch on a couple of things you may not find in some of your books. In general there is a two-fold meaning to this celebration in Israel and throughout the world. The first being the Fall Harvest Lev. 23: that teaches it is a time of bringing in the fall harvest and thanksgiving. Many believe as I do, that the Puritan Colonists who landed in America who were great students of the Hebrew Scriptures based the first American Thanksgiving on Sukkoth.
The second is found in the command to dwell in Booths as a memory to Israel’s 40 years of wondering in the wilderness. Another translation of the world Sukkoth is "habitation" as we camp in booths today we need to remember that the same God is watching over us today. That He inhabits our lives with a care beyond our imagination. Sukkoth is known also as "Zman Simkhatenu" (The Time of Rejoicing) the knowledge that God provided His habitation and lives with us, is certainly a time for rejoicing.
There are blessings said over the "Lulav" (palm branch), "Etrog" (citron, a fruit from Israel that looks like a large lemon) also the "Hadas" (Myrtle) and "Arava" (the youngest branch of the willow before it opens) These are called the four spices. The only reason I am spending some time on this is there is something very special here in Biblical teaching. First the Etrog, which taste sweet and has a delightful aroma, represents a person with knowledge or Torah and good deeds. The Lulav which comes from a Date Palm, a fruit that taste sweet but has no fragrance, meaning that some people have knowledge but no good deeds. The Hadas is just opposite, having a nice fragrance yet no taste (good deeds without true knowledge) Arava has neither taste nor smell and speaks of the persons without knowledge or good deeds. James 2:17 sums this up by saying "Faith without works is dead."
Now lets move on to the birth of the Messiah. With the celebration of Sukkoth having so many wonderful teaching in it for the Church today. You would think that the New Testament would have reference in it of Sukkoth. We read in John 1:1 "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." It says, the Word not only was with God, but the Word was the very manifestation of God Himself.
Then we read in John 1:14 "And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, and we beheld his glory, and glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth". What the Word of God says is, "The Word became a human being and lived with us, and we saw His Sh’kinah, The Sh’kinah glory of the Father’ only Son full of grace and Glory. But did you notice the word John used to described this event. He said "dwelt" among His people. This word dwelt come from a Greek word "skene" and the Greeks translated that from the Hebrew word "Tabernacle". What I am trying to get you to see is, John was describing the Holy Day of Sukkoth, the Holy Day that celebrates the indwelling of God Himself. So the Word says: And the Word was made flesh and Tabernacled among us,"
The celebration of December 25th as the birth of the Messiah is pagan, and comes from the Roman Empire. The early Church often "christianized" pagan days of celebration to accommodate the new converts. And December shows this very clearly. This date was an ancient feast that celebrated the return of the sun after the winter solatice. It has absolutely nothing to do with the birth of Yeshua. Believers began to say there was no real proof of the Messiah’s birth date so this would do. What they didn’t consider was John’s description using the term "Tabernacle" or Booths or Sukkoth. It is right there before us and so clear I can’t understand how it has been so missed by so many who calls themselves Biblical scholars.
If the first Advent showed Yeshua’s death on the cross on Unleavened Bread, buried on Passover, and resurrection of First Fruits, and the pouring out of His Holy Spirit on Shavout (Pentacost). Do you think that God would let such an important event as the birth of His only begotten Son go unheralded?
Sukkoth shows that God would dwell "Tabernacle" in the midst of His people, through the presence of the Messiah, Yeshua. There is much more evidence as well, since we know that Yeshua died on Passover and we also know His ministry lasted 3 ˝ years we can backtrack and that puts us right at Sukkoth as well. Nearly every serious Bible Theologian calculates that His birth was in the fall, that also is Sukkoth.
One of the ceremonies of Sukkoth is the pouring of water, and a time of prayer for water and rain in Israel. During the second Temple period a Priest would take a water pitcher down to the pool of shiloach (today called Siloam in the city of David) he would bring it back to the Temple. Crowds of people would follow him dancing and singing the Hellel, (Psalms 113-118) The highlight of this ceremony was when the Priest would pour this water at the altar of the Temple. It became known as "Simcha Bet-Ha-sho-evah" (The rejoicing of the House of Drawing Water)
The question is, why would there be so much rejoicing at this pouring of water? It has to be more than rejoicing of the future rain on Israel, as important as that might be. Because we read in Isaiah 12:3 "Therefore with joy shall ye draw water out of the wells of salvation". (Salvation in Hebrew is Yeshua, the name of the Messiah) GLORY TO GOD.
It was much more than the pouring out of water at the Temple, or even for the rain. The Simcha Bet Ha-sho-evah pointed directly to the coming of the Messiah and the days of redemption when the water of the Holy Spirit would be poured out upon all Israel.
Now we can appreciate the Scripture that was recorded on one day in the Messiah’s life and that day was on a Sukkoth. John 7:37-39 "In the last day, that great day of the feast, Yeshua stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink. He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water. But this spoke he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given: because Yeshua was not yet glorified.) Think for a moment of the time and place of these words being proclaimed by Yeshua. It was Sukkoth and it was the time of the pouring of the water. The crowds were filled with those who had expectation of the Messiah and the Holy Spirit He would bring. At the moment of the time of the pouring of the water the Messiah stood and made this bold proclamation. He was saying. I am the Messiah, do you truly want the living water of the spirit of God? If you truly want the Bet Ha-sho-evah, believe in me. I am the Messiah who will pour out the Holy Spirit on Israel.
After eight days of Sukkoth we will end this celebration, and on the 8th day our Messiah was circumcised.
And from here volumes can be written over that event.

Why must the body of Messiah always accomodate for others. Our L-rd does not change (relief). He remains and so does His word.
That is how we got Sunday worship, accomodating for the Roman believers, who were previous Sunday worshipers, starting with Constantine who changed the date. Imagine if the L-rd changed, how would we know that His love is everlasting and His mercies new every morning! We might not have them at all.
I rejoice in the day when all His appointed times will be celebrated and all of the body of Messiah will celebrate the Sabbath.
The Emmisaries (apostles) did not worship on Sunday. They studied the word after the Sabbath, which would actually be on Saturday night. Neither Y'shuah, nor the disciples go to "church" on Sunday, but rather continued the established Sabbath day as per G-d's instruction (Torah)
"Now when he [Y'shuah] went to Natzeret, where he had been brought up, on Shabbat he went to the synagogue as usual. He stood up to read..."Luke 4:16
"And Paul, as his manner was, went in unto them, and three sabbath days reasoned with them out of the scriptures," Acts 17:2
Our Master did not go to Temple or give a Sunday temple service for us to attend.
This explains a little better how Sabbath was observed by our Master, and Emmisaries and why Sunday worship was just another deviation of the Opponent to get the church away from the commandments of the L-rd.
