Son of God movie, The Bible tv series are unbiblical

        R.I.P.

Just how unbiblical is the 'Son of God' and 'The Bible' movie?
Famous Christians of today deviate from Scripture in TV series

With Ninja angels in ancient Sodom, the highly publicized TV miniseries “The Bible,” which made its national debut Sunday night on the History Channel, does not always stick to Scripture, despite being produced by two famous Christians and having numerous biblical experts as well as Texas megapastor Joel Osteen advising on the project.
The program was brought to life by Roma Downey, former star of “Touched by an Angel,” and her husband, Mark Burnett, the renowned Hollywood producer of shows such as “The Voice,” “Survivor” and “The Apprentice.”

“Bringing the Bible to the screen came with a huge responsibility and one we took very seriously,” Downey said on “The O’Reilly Factor” last Thursday. “We had a great team of scholars and theologians helping us, making sure that we told these stories accurately and truthfully.”

“I’ve been a believer my whole life, and that was very, very important to us,” she added.
But when the program debuted, it was obvious there were glaring additions made to the TV show that are never mentioned in the Bible.

With the first episode focusing on the events in Genesis and Exodus, the first major non-biblical entry was the inclusion of an angel turning into a Ninja-style warrior wielding two swords and embarking on an expertly choreographed, slow-motion stabbing spree to slay the wicked men of Sodom, as can be seen in the following video clip:

According to the Old Testament, angels merely struck the citizens of Sodom with blindness before God firebombed the entire city. The TV series did include those elements as well. The show, however, did not mention the rampant homosexuality in Sodom, or that the city’s men actually sought to have sex with the angels. (Genesis 19:5)

Fed up with people who twist Scripture or deny the truth of the Bible?

Perhaps alluding to scenes like the the Ninja angels, Downey had told O’Reilly, “Something else that we wanted to do was to make [the series] really, really cool. You know, we have teenagers at home and [it's] hard to get them to read anything, and one of the goals here was to get this generation interested and excited about Scripture, and I think we’ve been able to achieve that.”

Another deviation from the Bible depicts the patriarch Abraham arguing with God over the demand to sacrifice his son, Isaac.
“Have I not shown you enough faith?” he asks the Almighty in the program.

The Bible never hints that Abraham questioned the command to sacrifice Isaac. But the TV program does correctly show God halting Abraham from going through with the execution of his son.

A common mistake in faith-related movies is continued in “The Bible,” as the Ten Commandments were shown to be blank on the back side of the tablets, when Scripture says “They were inscribed on both sides, front and back.” (Exodus 32:15)

According to the trailer for the series, a future episode about the New Testament depicts three wise men presenting their gifts to baby Jesus the night the Savior was born and put in a manger in Bethlehem.
But the Gospels of Luke and Matthew indicate no wise men were in attendance the night He was born. Only shepherds were present, having been invited by angels to see the baby wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.
The famous wise men – the Bible never specifies their precise number – arrived later, possibly up to two years later, to present their gifts to Jesus when He was a young child in a house not a babe in a manger. Matthew 2:11

THE BIBLE TV MINI-SERIES
March 4, 2013
In this special one-hour bonus show, Chris discusses the premiere of the new Bible miniseries from the History Channel.  The series has been promoted by Christian ministries across the country, and was reportedly produced by two professing Christians, Mark Burnett and Roma Downey (who are also married).  They are each known for their successful Hollywood careers and spared no expense in creating a new version of the Bible on film.  It's something that's been anticipated by many people for weeks now.  In their interviews, the producers certainly seem to share a genuine faith in God -- but what are they communicating in this series?  Does it really give an accurate portrayal of the Bible?  Chris gives his review of the first episode

THE BIBLE TV MINI-SERIES -- PART II
March 5, 2013
Chris continues his discussion on the History Channel's new Bible TV miniseries, examining the faith of producers Roma Downey and her husband, Mark Burnett.   Also discussed are the theological advisors who provided insights for the series.  Upon watching the first episode, we can only wonder if anyone recommended "reading" the Bible before making a film about it.  Was the purpose of the series to merely tell stories, or to communicate the Word of God?

Why does the devil in 'The Bible' look exactly like Barak Hussein Obama?
Sunday evening's episode of the History Channel's hit series 'The Bible' threw up an awkward coincidence when viewers noticed that Satan bore a remarkable resemblance to President Obama.
Twitter exploded into life during the airing of the latest edition of the Mark Burnett-produced series with most noting the striking similarities between the 44th President and the devil played by actor Mehdi Ouzaani.
The show has been a surprise hit in the ratings, with the religious mini-series attracting 13.1 million viewers on Wednesday - topping television leviathan American Idol's 12.8 million viewers on Wednesday.

Fox Lands ‘Bible’ Feature Film Cut From Mark Burnett-Roma Downey Miniseries

History’s 10-part miniseries The Bible was a big hit in the spring, averaging 11.4 million total viewers during its five-week run and garnering three Emmy noms, and partnering with 20th Century Fox on the feature film version makes sense. The studio already has a partnership with executive producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey for worldwide home vid rights, and the parties have been in the planning stages of an international launch around Christmas. 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment released The Bible on home video in April, and it has become the top-selling mini ever across Blu-ray, DVD and DigitalHD after selling 525,000 copies its first week on the street. As for the feature, details on release dates and overseas distribution are still being worked out. Burnett said in June that he had just completed editing the 2 hour and 15 minute feature version of the series focusing on the life of Jesus and was looking for a buyer. “Just on the scripted side, I could spend the next 10 years just distributing the Bible series and the movie”, he said of the project he and wife Downey produced with Hearst Entertainment & Syndication. Burnett and Downey have already sold a sequel to the mini, A.D: Beyond The Bible, to NBC.

History Eyes Drama About Jesus’ “Lost Years” From Eli Roth, Eric Newman & Scott Kosar That May Involve Exorcism
12/3/13

History scored big with its blockbuster The Bible miniseries. Now the cable network is exploring another project about Jesus that would portray him in a more controversial light. I’ve learned that the network is finalizing deals for the project, from feature writer Scott Kosar (The Machinist) and producers Eli Roth (the Hostel franchise) and Eric Newman (The Thing). Titled The Lost Years, the drama explores the undocumented years of Jesus’ life as a young adult. There is very little information about Jesus’ life from about the age of 13, following a pilgrimage to Jerusalem he took with his parents, to age 30, when he began his ministry and was baptized by John the Baptist. Because the project is in very early stages, it is unclear whether it would be developed as a regular series or a miniseries.

The Lost Years is based on an original idea by Kosar who developed it with Roth and Newman. All three have strong horror pedigree — Kosar co-wrote The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror and The Crazies, and Roth and Newman jointly produced The Last Exorcism franchise in addition to their other horror credits. That is not a coincidence — nor is Roth and Newman’s exorcism connection. I hear that The Lost Years was conceived in the horror genre, and it explores a theory about Jesus’ origins as an exorcist. Although the practice of ridding a person’s body of demons and evil spirits existed long before Jesus’ time, the term “exorcism” — which is done in Jesus’ name — wasn’t coined until later. In ancient times, when medicine was in its infancy, healing was done mainly on a spiritual level, essentially treating ailments by getting demons out the body. Thus the theory that, as the most powerful healer of his time, Jesus performed rituals akin to exorcism. Kosar is repped by Verve, Magnolia Entertainment and Howard Fishman. Roth and Newman are with CAA.

In "Noah" - look at the actors that are in this movie - Anthony Hopkins(the cannibalism movie "Silence of the Lambs") and Emma Watson(those children indoctrination "Harry Potter" movies). Pretty much Hollywood is using these "Christian" themed movies to try to deceive and indoctrinate their audiences into witchcraft.

Will 2014 Be The Year of The Religious Movie?
12/26/13

Over the past few years, the movie industry has relied on blockbusters from the world of comic book super heroes for their big hits, but now many movie studios are looking toward a different set of books for their hit content: the Bible.

The major success of "The Bible" miniseries on the History Channel has motivated studios to look for content from the religious work. According an article in the U.K. Telegraph, "Biblical Films' Hollywood Comeback," the Bible can be good for business.

Studio executives who have spent the past few years releasing superhero and zombie films have, it seems, had an epiphany. Now their new best friends are evangelical pastors whose endorsements they actively seek, even inviting them on to sets during production. Pastors in turn play clips from films of which they approve to 10,000-strong congregations on 40ft wide movie screens.

Scheduled to be released in the next 12 months are Bible-themed films such as "Mary Mother of Christ."

It is a part of Mary, Joseph and Jesus’s life that has not been shown on the big screen before,” reads a synopsis. “Under the reign of terror of Herod the Great and, against all odds, they survive as young parents in one of the most treacherous times in history.” It promises “faith-based high action drama” − and there is no room in the audience for doubting Thomases.

In March, movie goers will have the chance to see a huge budget ($150 Million) version of the story of "Noah", with Russell Crow as Noah, Anthony Hopkins as Methusaleh and Harry Potter's Emma Watson as Noah's daughter. Later next year, Christian Bale will be splitting the Red Sea in Ridley Scott's epic Exodus, which will also star top talent such as Aaron Paul, Sigourney Weaver, and Ben Kingsley.

Another movie of Moses’s life called Gods and Kings is also planned. Steven Spielberg was due to make it but has been replaced by Ang Lee, who won the Best Director Oscar this year for Life of Pi. Meanwhile, Son of God will tell the story of Jesus’s life, with Portuguese actor Diogo Morgado in the lead role. Will Smith is said to be planning a film based on the story of Cain and Abel, and Brad Pitt is rumoured to be playing Pontius Pilate in a separate project. There will also be Resurrection, in which a Roman soldier is sent to investigate Christ’s death. It has been likened to “Gladiator, with a mystery bent”.

Phil Cooke, a filmmaker and media consultant to Christian organizations, said this Hollywood trend is not because of any new-found religious fever,

What’s happened is they’ve understood it’s very good business to take Christians seriously, and this is a real serious market. For years Hollywood bent over backwards to reach special interest groups, be it feminists or environmentalists. It has finally realized that there are 91  million evangelical Christians in America.

Five films that will make 2014 the year of the Bible Twisted Evil
1/10/14

"The Bible narrative has always been one heck of a story. It reads like a mix of action thriller, period drama, romance novel and, in more apocalyptic parts, like pure fantasy. The gripping narrative sections of the text are part of the reason the Bible is the bestselling book of all time.

But in 2014, we'll discover if the good book is as captivating on the modern-day silver screen as it is in print.

This year, big studios such as Sony and Lionsgate are entering the fray by releasing films of, well, biblical proportions. To wit:

“Son of God,” 20th Century Fox, February

Reality TV pioneer Mark Burnett and his wife, actress Roma Downey, have taken footage from their History Channel series “The Bible” and partnered with 20th Century Fox to create “Son of God,” a film about Jesus' life that will doubtlessly attract churchgoing Americans. As the first film on this list to release, it may be a helpful box office barometer for the others.

“Noah,” Regency Enterprises, November

A flood of publicity already has been created around “Noah” and its impressive $130 million budget. The cast includes Russell Crowe, as the sailor himself, as well as Anthony Hopkins, Jennifer Connelly and Emma Watson. Darren Aronofsky (“Black Swan”) directed the movie. If the trailer is any indication, it should be visually stunning while taking massive artistic liberties.

“Heaven is for Real,” Sony Pictures, April

Though not technically a biblical movie, “Heaven is for Real” will likely riff on popular Bible themes such as heaven, Jesus and salvation. The film is based on the New York Times bestselling book by the same name and stars Greg Kinnear, Kelly Reilley and Thomas Haden Church. This story of a little boy's life-after-death experience is not so coincidentally scheduled to release just before Easter.

“Exodus,” 20th Century Fox, December

20th Century Fox has kept a tight lid on Ridley Scott's “Exodus.” All we know is the film is an adaptation of the biblical story of the ancient Israelite people's liberation from Egypt. Christian Bale will star as Moses, and Sigourney Weaver will co-star. Critics won't be able to help comparing it to the 1956 movie “The Ten Commandments” starring Charlton Heston. The question will be whether this film can duplicate the classic's success.

“Mary, Mother of Christ,” Lionsgate Films, December

The long-awaited prequel to “The Passion of The Christ” is scheduled to arrive before Christmas after a long set of delays. The cast includes the late Peter O'Toole, Sir Ben Kinglsey, Julia Ormond, and 16-year-old Israeli newcomer Odeya Rush as the holy mother herself. The hefty cast combined with a serious budget from Lionsgate and the backing of several Christian notables, including mega-church pastor Joel Osteen, who gets an executive-producer credit, give this movie serious potential.

The uptick in biblical movies is a testament to the ongoing power of those ancient narratives and reminds us Hollywood is driven by money more than agendas. The Bible's stories are an enduring draw, so Hollywood is doing what it does best — turning a buck by giving audiences what they want.

In this way, the film industry is a mirror reflecting what society desires: sex, violence and great stories with a touch of God in the mix. In 2014, we'll find out just how much they crave the latter."

‘Son of God’ Cuts Satan Scenes Featuring Obama Lookalike
2/17/14

“Son of God” producers Mark Burnett and Roma Downey have cast Satan out of their upcoming Biblical epic about Jesus Christ, an individual familiar with the 20th Century Fox project has told TheWrap.

“Son of God” is a reshaped version of last year’s hit History Channel miniseries “The Bible,” which co-starred Mohamen Mehdi Ouazanni as Satan. Burnett and Downey came under fire last year because Ouazanni bears a striking resemblance to President Barack Obama, though the producers said at the time that the casting controversy was unintentional and merely coincidental.

“Someone made a comment that the actor who played the devil vaguely resembled our president, and suddenly the media went nuts,” Downey said in a statement Monday. “The next day, when I was sure everyone would only be talking about Jesus, they were talking about Satan instead. For our movie, ‘Son of God,’ I wanted all of the focus to be on Jesus. I want his name to be on the lips of everyone who sees this movie, so we cast Satan out. It gives me great pleasure to tell you that the devil is on the cutting room floor.”

20th Century Fox will release “Son of God” on Feb. 28. The 10-hour miniseries has been pared down to two hours, which meant sacrificing Satan’s scenes to focus on Jesus.

The end of February has proven to be a lucrative time of year for faith-based movies, as “The Passion of the Christ” earned $125 million in its first five days after opening on Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2004.

Obama gets Satan cut from 'Son of God' movie
TOO FUNNY!  SATANs son looks too much like him!
An eerie resemblance between Barack Obama and Satan in the upcoming “Son of God” movie has prompted the film’s producers to completely banish the devil.
Scenes with an actor who portrayed the devil but looked like King Hussein Barry Soetero Obama have now been edited out.

The devil gets no more screentime.  I wish!
That obama will babble on I am afraid.

The movie opens Feb. 28 and is mainly a reworked version of a TV miniseries titled The Bible.

Rush Limbaugh held up a photo of the actor to show viewers that the Satan character was a dead ringer for Obama, saying it is uncanny.
If Satan had a son, would he look like the guy in the White House?

HISTORY

On Nov. 5, 2008 the very night Obama was declared president, the Illinois Pick 3 lottery number was 666, a number associated with the beast mentioned in the Book of Revelation. Obama home state was Illinois.
Lotteries are sometimes rigged beforehand.

In January 2013 Obama was bugged by a fly on his face.
He has long attracted flies during recorded interviews and speeches.
A fly is a biblical reference for Satan, Beelzebub, Lord of the Flies.

Free Republic discussed Beelzebub and asks, Is the White House fly infestation evidence of demonic presence and influence there?  Yeah.
Beelzebub is found throughout the New Testament, as a reference to the prince of demons.

Yes, we’ve already seen most of this. It is, after all, the “just the Jesus” part of the original miniseries. Well, minus the devil character, who apparently looked too much like President Obama to be included in the final cut.

Who are the project sponsors?   T.D. The Christmas story in this movie is false.  It shows the Magi (wise men) from the east (Iraq) coming to the manger in Bethlehem.
They did not come to Bethlehem, they found the "young Child" in His home in Nazareth.
If people consider the Magi part of the Christmas story of His birth,
then so is the cross and the empty tomb.

They remove Satan, screw up His birth, and say His Name is Jesus.
I realize that is His Greek Name but His parents would have said
Yeshua

The TOMB is empty - HE IS LORD AND KING!

Paramount adds explanatory note to 'Noah' after pressure by religious group

Feb. 28, 2014, 8:15 AM EST
By Sharon Waxman
TheWrap
Paramount has added an "explanatory message" to its Biblical epic, "Noah," at the request of a religious broadcasters group, the studio and the group announced on Thursday.

The decision followed an appeal by Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of National Religious Broadcasters, to help audiences better understand that the feature film is a dramatization of the major scriptural themes and not a line-by-line retelling of the Bible story, the statement said.

The statement added to the film is:

"The film is inspired by the story of Noah.

While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values, and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide.

The biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis."

"We are deeply appreciative of Dr. Johnson's efforts to bring this idea to us," said Paramount Picture's Vice Chairman, Rob Moore. "Our goal has been to take every measure we can to ensure moviegoers have the information they need before deciding to buy a ticket to see the film. We are very proud of Darren Aronofsky's Noah. We think audiences all over the world will enjoy this epic film."

The studio has been trying to tread the line between the secularist views of its daring filmmaker Aronofksy and its desire to appeal to religious audiences with the big-budget movie starring Russell Crowe. And it has sparred with one publication that suggested religious groups might not want to see the film.

Paramount agreed to add the message to all its future marketing materials, including a soon-to-be released online trailer, the film's official website, and 100 percent of print and radio, as well as some of the film's online and broadcast.

The movie opens on March 28.

Here is the full announcement:

The National Religious Broadcasters (NRB) and Paramount Pictures jointly announced today the decision to add an explanatory message to future marketing materials for the upcoming film Noah from acclaimed filmmaker Darren Aronofsky.

The move follows an appeal by Dr. Jerry A. Johnson, President & CEO of NRB, to help audiences better understand that the feature film is a dramatization of the major scriptural themes and not a line-by-line retelling of the Bible story

Dr. Johnson's request to Paramount Pictures to consider adding this clarification to Noah's marketing materials ahead of release was an idea fully embraced by the studio, and follows a precedent established by other films based on biblical stories.

NRB's reaching out to Paramount was prompted by a special public event earlier this week at the NRB 2014 International Christian Media Convention in Nashville, TN, where Dr. Johnson led an engaging and insightful panel discussion with John Snowden, a biblical consultant for Noah, along with filmmaker, media consultant, and writer Phil Cooke, who is also a member of the NRB Board of Directors.

Together, the panelists all three of whom had earlier seen the entire film discussed the cinematic attributes of the film, including examples of adherence to and departures from the biblical text. Exclusive clips from the film were also shown to the crowd of several hundred.

"Because of the quality of the production and acting, viewers will enjoy watching main themes from the Noah story depicted in a powerful way on the big screen," stated Dr. Johnson in sharing his overall reaction to the film. "However, my intent in reaching out to Paramount with this request was to make sure everyone who sees this impactful film knows this is an imaginative interpretation of Scripture, and not literal."

Future marketing materials, including a soon-to-be released online trailer, the film's official website, and 100% of print and radio, as well as a percentage of the film's online and broadcast, will contain the following explanatory message:

"The film is inspired by the story of Noah.

While artistic license has been taken, we believe that this film is true to the essence, values, and integrity of a story that is a cornerstone of faith for millions of people worldwide.

The biblical story of Noah can be found in the book of Genesis.

Adding to that, Dr. Johnson said, "It is a significant and welcome development when a leading Hollywood studio like Paramount makes a major film about a story from the Bible."

"Many people will go to this film and enjoy it," expressed Dr. Johnson, who holds a Ph.D. in Christian Ethics from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has taught a Cinematic Theology course at the undergraduate level in college, as well as a course on the Theology of Movies and Visual Media at the graduate level in seminary. "Christians should be ready to engage with them about the main biblical themes that are portrayed in the film, namely sin, judgment, and salvation."

While Dr. Johnson noted that there are more than a few creative liberties taken that may be of concern to those who know their Bible well, he said he feels that the explanatory message will help make it clear to people of faith that the film is not being presented as a literal presentation of Scripture.

"We are grateful that Paramount is striving, with this disclaimer, to strike a proper balance between artistic creativity, character development, and honoring the sacred Scripture," Dr. Johnson stated.

Haven't seen the movie, but having seen just the 2 minute trailer(preview) for this movie a couple of months ago - at the end of it the cast attended some wicked CCM concert. Pretty much the plot of this movie surrounds a Christian college student whose challenge is to convince one of his atheist professors at his secular college that God exists.

Ultimately, BEWARE of all of these mainstream "Christian" movies that have loads of SUBTLE deceptions in it. And for that matter too - don't think that we can just walk into some government-runned, socialist school campus and start a revival(like the "religious right" made you think we could for years and years).

Box Office: ‘God’s Not Dead’ Soaring to $8.2 Million Opening in Limited Release

3/22/14

Talk about a box office diversion.

Shailene Woodley’s “Divergent” might be the No. 1 film in America but faith-based audiences are once again proving to be anything but conservative at the U.S. box office.

Christian drama “God’s Not Dead,” opening in fewer than 800 theaters, is on track for an impressive $8.2 million this weekend. That’s a per-screen average of over $10,400 from 782 locations.

The movie, produced by Pure Flix Entertainment and Red Entertainment, was only thought to reach $5 million through Sunday, still an impressive figure, but much like other Biblical stories of late, “God’s Not Dead” is seeing a heavenly windfall from religious audiences.

Earlier this month, the Mark Burnett-produced “Son of God” opened to $26 million at the box office while Russell Crowe’s Biblical tale “Noah” is expected to top the box office next weekend.

The low-budget “God’s Not Dead” tells the story of a college student who sets out to prove God’s existence.

Willie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” appears in the film and shared with The Christian Post in an interview last week that his faith was strengthened as a result of the film, in which he appears as himself alongside his wife.

“I thought it was well written and it came together,” Robertson told the Christian Post, adding that the film “really raised the bar with these faith-based movies.”

Co-starring Shane Harper and Kevin Sorbo, “God’s Not Dead” is distributed by FreeStyle Releasing.

This is just my opinion on this - but one of the reasons how you can tell things are in their last throes(before God unleashes the Revelation judgments) is that the Illuminati minions are craftily repacking entertainment with Christianity(whether it's movies, music, etc), in order to get the lost world into the flock of the Apostate church.

Don't get me wrong, I pray that all souls be saved - but nonetheless what the Illuminati minions are doing now is something I've never imagined in my lifetime. Not saying all church buildings are bad, but a great majority of them are(especially with their 501c3 tag, and all the compromises they're forced to make just to maintain their pricey buildings), and they are setting themselves up for the grand deception(ie-have you see all those flat screen tvs behind the pulpits nowdays?).

Revelation 3:14  And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write; These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God;
Rev 3:15  I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.
Rev 3:16  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.
Rev 3:17  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:
Rev 3:18  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.
Rev 3:19  As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.
Rev 3:20  Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.
Rev 3:21  To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne.
Rev 3:22  He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Uhm, this goes VERY contrary to scripture - and to boot, if you're a born again believer, you better not get near Hellywood with a 10 foot pole!

Why Christians Now Rule Hollywood

When last weekend’s box office numbers were revealed one superstar came out on top. It wasn’t Denzel Washington, Robert Downey, Jr. or any of the other usual names from Hollywood’s A-list. In fact, this A-lister did not even appear in any film credits at all, but may have just become Hollywood’s hottest commodity. The new power player: God, or more specifically God and his many Christian followers. For the first time, two Christian themed films appeared in two of the top box office slots.

Russell Crowe’s Noah, inspired by the Bible story, was number one raking in a hefty $44 million. It’s box office dominance inspired a flood (no pun intended) of pun-ny headlines, among them “Noah Floats, Sabotage Drowns” from Forbes. But what’s more shocking to Hollywood insiders is the appearance of God’s Not Dead on the box office power list. The fifth most popular film in America for the second week in a row tells the story of a Christian college student locked in a battle of wills against a professor who is an atheist. Despite a tiny budget and it’s lack of marquee stars (TV actors Kevin Sorbo and Dean Cain appear) the film has pulled in more than $20 million at the box office so far.

But the two movies are not the only ones establishing Christian themed films, and the people who see them, as a major Hollywood force to be reckoned with. Last month, Son of God surpassed box office expectations. Heaven is for Real, a film based on the bestselling book, will soon be released, and expectations are high.

**Uhm...this movie is NOT Christian - saw the trailer for it at the movies in January, and saw it a couple of times on tv recently - it centers around LOST people who's young son (supposedly)goes to heaven and sees his LOST grandfather(among other things) after having a near-death experience.

“It feels like we’re in a special moment that has never happened before in Hollywood where you have this many faith-based movies being released by not just independent filmmakers but now the big studios,” said Paul Lauer, founder and CEO of Motive Entertainment, the leading film marketing firm for reaching Christian audiences. “This Holy Week there will be four major feature films in theaters at the same time and that’s unprecedented.”

Lauer launched his firm a little over a decade ago with a plan to focus on targeting underserved religious audiences, unchartered territory at the time. Months after opening he was introduced to Mel Gibson who told him about a faith-inspired film he wanted to release. That film became the mega-hit Passion of the Christ. Motive Entertainment led the groundbreaking grassroots marketing campaign targeting Christians through churches and other non-traditional marketing venues that helped make Passion of the Christ, an independent film, one of the most successful films of all time.

But even after its success, films about faith did not become ubiquitous the way many genres do after one film succeeds. According to Scott A. Shuford, founder of FrontGate Media, a firm specializing in reaching Christian audiences online, Hollywood was slow to recognize the power and scope of Christian consumers. “I think at first Hollywood business people got confused between a religion and a market.” Shuford, whose firm was one of those involved in the marketing of Noah, went on to explain that while Hollywood has been serving African Americans and Latinos as distinct markets with distinct interests, they struggled to see Christians the same way and as a result didn’t invest resources in that community. As such, “The Passion of the Christ was initially treated as a fluke.”

But that is finally changing due to the sheer box office numbers of Christian themed films. “We’re seeing some of the best film product right now being targeted to this audience,” he said.

**Be ye not deceived - there's NO end times "revival"!

Calling 2014 a “banner year” for faith-based films, Paul Lauer predicted, “As each of these films achieves a measure of success I think more and more filmmakers and studios and distributors and financiers and actors and directors and everybody will say ‘this could be a rewarding area to get into’.” But Lauer, whose firm also led grassroots campaigns for the films Chronicles of Narnia and Son of God, speculated that the success of this year’s faith-based films could have implications in Hollywood beyond the box office. “I think the other thing that will happen [is] there are people of faith all throughout Hollywood who already work in studios as directors and producers and writers and many of them are excited about working on movies like this now that it’s OK to do so,” he said. “It’s almost like we’re having a coming out of the closet for people of faith in the community. And as that happens we’ll get [an] even more organic growth of faith-based and inspirational movies coming from people that are already embedded in the system, like Mark and Roma.”

??? You mean for years and years, Christians have been ashamed about sharing their faith, and it had to take HELLYWOOD MOVIES to convince them otherwise now?

1Peter 3:15  But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear:

He was referring to reality TV mogul Mark Burnett, the super producer of Survivor, among other shows, and his wife Touched by an Angel actress Roma Downey. They produced last year’s hit television mini series on The Bible.

But whether Christian stories gaining ground in Hollywood is a good thing for Christians, may ultimately depend on who is telling the stories. The film Noah, directed by Darren Aronofsky, has sparked a great deal of controversy from allegations that say it strays too far from Biblical text, to criticisms it omits the word God from the story altogether. (The word “creator” is used.) One Christian unhappy with the film has posted his own version online. Penny Nance, President of the Christian conservative women’s group, Concerned Women for America said in an email “Beginning with “The Passion of the Christ”, Hollywood recognized that there is a Christian market that can be extremely profitable, and we’re happy about that. Unfortunately, their enthusiasm for our money doesn’t always match their enthusiasm for our message. However, family friendly content that creates an opportunity for conversation is always a positive thing.”

For his part, Noah star Russell Crowe dismissed criticism of the film as overreaction and more specifically “absolute stupidity.”

Asked if the success of Noah and God’s Not Dead this week officially answers the question of whether there is a strong market for Christian themed Hollywood fare, Scott Shuford had this to say.  “There isn’t any question whether there is a market. The question [to Hollywood] is do you want to be a part of it?

**In the 80's, the big market was "nerdy boy goes after pretty girl and gets her". In the 90's, the big market was sex and violence. And now since the turn of the 21st century? Apostate churched themed movies?

Check - 1Timothy 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;

Yet another reason to AVOID "God's Not Dead" - this was based on a book with similar circumstances(over a college student's conversion testimony) - just spot the many doctrinal errors in this guy's "testimony".

Atheist Turned Christian Character in 'God's Not Dead' Movie Was Inspired By Real-Life Harvard Educated, Chinese-Born Doctor
4/4/14

A character who leaves behind his atheist convictions in the recently released God's Not Dead movie was inspired by the real-life Lasik and cataract surgeon, Tennessee resident Wing Mang.

Wang, a native of China, endured the country's Cultural Revolution in the 1960s, which sent millions of its better-educated and professional citizens to hard labor camps.

In 1982, Wang immigrated to the United States, equipped with little more than $50 and a Chinese-English dictionary. He eventually was accepted to Harvard Medical School, from which he graduated with honors, and later became one of the first surgeons in the United States to perform laser cataract surgeon.

It was during his time in college that Wang, then an atheist, built a relationship with a professor who began asking him questions about God and showing him evidence for the existence of a deity.

"A Harvard professor, a professor of pediatrics, and a believer, saw the status of mind that I was in, confused and in crisis," Wang told The Christian Post in an email.

"He knew that because of his medical expertise, I would listen to him out of my respect of his medical knowledge. So he saw an opportunity, to guide and influence me, to broaden my understanding of life, to a broader prospective by introducing faith in my life which could help answer the questions that I had and for which I could not find answer in science."

Wang recalled a conversation where his professor asked him how he could believe that a car could somehow been created in the absence of a creator but yet assume that a brain had come about randomly.

"Right there and then, he opened a door, in my life, and I found God, found Christianity, that could provide the answers to the questions that I was asking. I have come to realize that faith and science serve to different purposes, they are the two sides of a coin: science is about what things are, and faith is about why things are," wrote Wang, who later received another medical degree from MIT.

Wang's Christian convictions later led him to found the Wang Foundation for Christian Outreach to China and Wang Foundation for Sight Restoration. Wang's organization provides pro bono sight restoration surgeries for both domestic and international patients from over 55 countries.

His story was subsequently recounted in the book, God's Not Dead, by Rice Broocks, the senior minister at Bethel World Outreach Church in Nashville. The 2013 release tells the story of six former atheists who eventually found a belief in God.

In the film, Martin Yip, a character inspired by Wang, is played by Paul Kwo. Unlike Wang's relationship with a professor, Yip finds himself reconsidering his original stance on God after his classmate Josh Wheaton (Shane Harper) defies his professor's proclamation that "God is dead."

Wang said it was "wonderful" see his story on screen.

"I have always believed that I have a duty, to help other students, to see that life is not just about science, it is about faith, it is about faith and science. It is about faith and science CAN can indeed work together," Wang wrote. "By conducting scientific research, guided by faith and a sense of purpose, we can solve the conflict, between faith and science, allowing them to work together, 1+1 will be MORE THAN two, and identify new and more powerful solutions, to the problems in our lives."

"This movie, will help me, in my continued effort to teach the students, to tell my life story, from science alone, to now faith with science," Wang told CP. "Believing in God, in faith, in research guided by faith, has inspired me to do all what I have done, medicine, charity, art… everything."

Wang also said while Kwo, "the Chinese student character," does portray part of his life story, the doctor also sees much of himself in the main character Wheaton.

"Some of the arguments that I made in the original book God's Not Dead, with regard to the evidence of existence of God, was put into Joshua's mouth, in his brilliant presentation of the evidence of existence of God. So, in essence, sort of half of me, in the original book, has gone into this main character Josh," he explained.

Over the weekend, God's Not Dead finished fifth place at the U.S. box office, earning just one percent less than the $9.2 million it brought in over its opening weekend when the film was released on March 21.

The small independent faith-based movie expanded its release last weekend by nearly 400 theaters and took in $9 million, bringing its total box office earnings to an impressive $22 million.

God's Not Dead was produced by Pure Flix Entertainment and Red Entertainment Group, directed by Harold Cronk, and stars Kevin Sorbo (Hercules) and Harper, a Disney Channel actor whose show Good Luck Charlie drew controversy earlier this year when it became the first show on The Disney Channel to include a same-sex couple.

The Christ of Lightworkers Media
3/18/15

Roma Downey is the co-owner, with her husband Mark Burnett, of Lightworkers Media, the producer of The Bible miniseries which aired in 2013 (the History Channel) and The Son of God movie which appeared in 2014 (20th Century Fox). The movie was adapted from the miniseries. In December 2014, Lightworkers Media will air Women of Bible.

The fact that Roma’s productions are widely promoted by “evangelical” Christians is evidence of the width and depth of the apostasy that we are witnessing in these end times.

The Bible miniseries was endorsed by Rick Warren, Jim Daly of Focus on the Family, T.D. Jakes, Joel Osteen, Lisa Harper of Women of Faith, Luis Palau, Dick Rolfe, and many others. Osteen, Warren, and Jakes were advisers for the Lightworkers Media production. Rick Warren rented movie theaters for the showing of the Son of God movie. Osteen purchased and distributed 8,000 tickets.

Victoria Osteen and Kay Warren appear in the Women of the Bible. These women are wives of the pastors of two of the largest “evangelical” churches in America. Joyce Meyer is also featured in Women of the Bible.

Roma Downey played a prominent role in the January 2015 We Will Stand Contemporary Music concert, which featured Michael W. Smith, Amy Grant, Newsboys, Don Moen, Mark Schultz, Sandi Patti, Travis Cottrell (Beth Moore’s worship leader), Steven Curtis Chapman, Steve Green, Dallas Holm, Russ Taff, The Imperials, Don Francisco, First Call, Michael Omartian, Francesca Battistelli, Kari Jobe, Laura Story, Petra, 4Him, Point of Grace, Carman, Nicole Mullen, among others.

Downey’s productions have been hugely popular.

The first episode of The Bible, which ran on March 2013, was seen by more than 13 million viewers, the largest cable television audience that year (“Mark Burnett’s The Bible begets record ratings,” Entertainment Weekly, March 4, 2013). When The Bible was released on DVD a month later, it quickly sold more than one-half million copies to become the top-selling TV miniseries. Within the first month, the miniseries had been viewed by an estimated 95 million people (“#1 TV on DVD in last five years,” HollywoodJesus.com, April 8, 2013). The YouVersion Bible App, the official app of The Bible miniseries, had 88 million downloads and was the in top 15 of all free apps in the iTunes store.

The Son of God movie made $26.5 million in its first weekend, and within three months it had grossed $68 million.

Shouldn’t we rejoice that multitudes of people are seeing these multimedia presentations about the Bible and Jesus?

God warns His people to prove all things and to try the spirits. He warns of false christs and false spirits and false gospels.

“For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many” (Matthew 24:5).

“But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ” (2 Corinthians 11:3).

“Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world” (1 John 4:1).

In light of what Roma Downey believes and practices, it is obvious that her programs and movies are introducing people to a false christ, a false spirit, and a false gospel.

NEW AGE SELF WORSHIP

Roma, who became famous for her role as “the angel Monica” in the New-agey TV series Touched by an Angel, is a Roman Catholic who holds New Age principles and communes with the dead.

Touched by an Angel promotes the New Age doctrines that men are not estranged from God by sin, that they do not have to be reconciled through Christ’s atonement, that God is the Father of all men, that angels are not perfect, and that salvation is by human kindness.

When Roma was married in 2007 to television producer Mark Burnett (her second marriage), the ceremony was performed by Della Reese, her co-star in Touched by an Angel. Reese is the co-founder with Johnnie Coleman of the Understanding Principles for Better Living Church. Coleman is a New Thought minister of the Unity School of Christianity, which teaches, “We are Divine through the Christ within, the individualization of God in us.”

Roma graduated from the University of Santa Monica with a masters degree in Spiritual Psychology. The university was “founded by New Age spiritual and self-help guru John-Roger” (“Roma Downey Happy Out of Spotlight,” Beck/Smith Hollywood, April 23, 2013). The university’s web site describes Spiritual Psychology as “the study and practice of the art and science of human evolution in consciousness.” It says that the benefits of Spiritual Psychology include “experiencing enhanced spiritual awareness through knowing yourself as a Divine Being,” “individual evolution,” and “learning to relate to yourself with greater compassion and awareness of yourself as a Divine Being having a human experience.”

The New Age book Loyalty to Your Soul by Ron and Mary Hulnick carries Roma Downey’s recommendation as follows: “The teachings in this beautiful book have sent me on a journey to the very center of my own being where, wrapped in the safe wings of Love, I feel as though I have come home.”

Loyalty to Your Soul teaches self worship. “Center your awareness in your heart and consciously look for the Loving Essence in the person in your presence. By doing so, you’re signifying your respect for the Soul before you ...  Maintain awareness that you’re in conversation with another Divine Being who is engaged in having a human experience” (p. 209).

She says that she listens to books on tape by New Age guru Eckhart Tolle, who teaches the divinity of man. (See our book The New Age Tower of Babel for documentation.) Tolle says, “God, the scripture is saying, is formless consciousness and the essence of who you are” (The New Earth, p. 219), and, “Christ is your God-essence or Self” (The Power of Now, p. 104).

COMMUNING WITH MARY

Roma says, “I have prayed to Mary and loved her my whole life” (“The Bible: An Epic Mini-Series,” Catholiclane.com, Feb. 28, 2013). (She plays the part of Mary in The Bible miniseries.) She promotes the use of the Rosary as a meditation practice. By this, practitioners pray to Mary as the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God. The Catholic Mary is a mediator between God and man who can hear and answer the prayers of every petitioner, thus having the divine attributes of omnipresence and omnipotence.

COMMUNING WITH THE DEAD

Roma also communes with the dead. On the Crossing Over television program on the Sci-Fi Channel in 2002, she supposedly talked to her mother through the mediumship of psychic Jonathan Edwards (Drew MacKenzie, “Roma’s TV chat to dead mother,” TheFreeLibrary.com). Roma’s CD “Meditation” is included with Jonathan Edward’s book Practical Praying: Using the Rosary to Enhance Your Life.

“And the soul that turneth after such as have familiar spirits, and after wizards, to go a whoring after them, I will even set my face against that soul, and will cut him off from among his people” (Leviticus 20:6).

“And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?” (Isaiah 8:19).

A FALSE CHRIST

The christ of The Bible miniseries and The Son of God movie is not the Christ of Scripture. The christ of Lightworkers Media is the typical long-haired hippy of popular mythical imagination. He looks and acts like a cool surfer dude, a miracle-working super hero. He does not call people to repentance from sin; he does not warn of hell; he does not require the new birth for salvation. The christ of The Bible miniseries and The Son of God movie is the non-judgmental christ of The Shack, a christ who accepts everyone, sees the goodness in every person, and “puts no obligations on anyone.” He is a cool, modern christ. At the Last Supper, the christ of the Son of God movie does not mention “the forgiveness of sins” in connection with the cup and his death.

The Son of God promotes a New Age world in which all men will be saved, in which all religions are accepted by God. Before he is beheaded, John the Baptist says, “His [Jesus] power will draw all men to a new world.”

“In the ‘Son of God’ what they are trying to present is not the Orthodox Christ, but one who’s message is not of repentance but of uniting all faiths into and earthly kingdom where all are welcome. In Antichrist’s kingdom heretics and sinners, all are told they are accepted as they are” (“Son of God: A Charismatic Revival Masterpiece,” Orthodox Views, March 1, 2014).

It can be no accident that the actor of The Son of God movie bears an uncanny resemblance to a New Age “cosmic christ” and ascended master called Sananda who is channelled by occultists.

SOUTHERN BAPTISTS AND CATHOLICS PRAISING NEW AGER'S WORK
(Friday Church News NOTES, April 10, 2015, www.wayoflife.org, fbns@wayoflife.org, 866-295-4143) -

Southern Baptists, Catholics, Pentecostals, and emergents are praising the latest work of the New Age entertainer Roma Downey. Those who praise Downey's newest production, A.D. The Bible CONTINUES, include Ronnie Floyd, President of the Southern Baptist Convention (SBC), Ed Stetzer of the SBC's LifeWay Research, George Wood, General Superintendent of the Assemblies of God, Catholic Cardinal Donald Wuerl, Joel Osteen, T.D. Jakes, Andy Stanley, Max Lucado, Perry Noble, and Rick Warren.

The praise from these men is effusive and lacking any warning about Downey's apostasy. For example, Stetzer says, "In 'A.D.', Mark and Roma have masterfully brought together the text and context, bringing the story alive in a fresh, new way--showing the true promise and peril of the early church situation. 'A.D.' is amazing television, and a gift to the church." Roma Downey is the Roman Catholic co-creator with husband Mark Burnett of the HISTORY Channel's popular The Bible miniseries and The Son of God movie. She calls Pope Francis "a new pope of hope" ("Roma Downey," Christian Post, April 4, 2013). She says, "I have prayed to Mary and loved her my whole life" ("The Bible: An Epic Mini-Series," Catholiclane.com, Feb. 28, 2013).

She promotes the use of the rosary as a meditation practice by which she prays to Mary as the Queen of Heaven and the Mother of God. The Catholic Mary is sinless and can hear and answer the prayers of every petitioner, thus having the divine attributes of mediatorship, omnipresence, and omnipotence. But Roma Downey's heresies exceed those pertaining to Rome's papacy, sacramental gospel, and communion with a demon masquerading as Mary. Roma graduated from the University of Santa Monica with a GRADUATE DEGREE in Spiritual Psychology, which is described at the school's web site as "the study and practice of the art and science of human evolution in consciousness." The benefits of Spiritual Psychology include "experiencing enhanced spiritual awareness through knowing yourself as a Divine Being" and "learning to relate to yourself with greater compassion and awareness of yourself as a Divine Being having a human experience."

Why would any Bible-believing Christian recommend movies produced by a New Ager without the loudest and most fervent qualification, at the very least? "Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? and what communion hath light with darkness?" (2 Cor. 6:14).
