Radiation threat to USA, earth after Japan 2011 Earthquake

DEATH

The Death pale, ashen (green) horse had Hell following him.  Together they killed 1/4 of the population of Earth
with sword and with famine and with pestilence, plague, diseases and by the wild beasts of the earth.

March-April 2011  UPDATES
The JAPAN earthquakes ARE NOT in the SAME spot - but vary widely

Japan is under God's CURSE, judgment.  WHY?
Rebuilding the cursed city JERICHO
and
Favoring Israel's annihilation, a Palestinian State in Israel
Japan quake, wave, nuclear disaster is God's judgment

If JAPAN REPENTS, and turns to the LORD, and
supports Israel instead of lying Palestinians, GOD will help them!

Only 2% in Japan are Christians.  Japan worships false pagan gods.

The LORD said to Abram, Go forth from your country to the land which I will show you.
And I will make you a great nation, and I will bless you and make your name great.
And so you shall be a blessing.  And I will bless those who bless you,
And the one who curses you I will curse.
Genesis 12

Israel-Palestine 2 state solution is cursing Israel
SUPPORTING a PALESTINIAN STATE within Israel brings a CURSE on any nation

Japan has cursed Israel, therefore the judgment of God in this earthquake
I am NOT saying Japan - and NZ -  deserved judgment - I am saying it is God's judgment.

Japan condemns Israel building new homes for Jews in Jerusalem, which is the Capitol of Israel.
Japan condemns Israel building homes in Judea (westbank).
The Government of Japan wants Israel to return to ONLY the indefensible pre-1967 borders, and not own East Jerusalem.
It was the Palestinians  NOT ISRAEL that walked out of 'peace' talks.

Japan is Rebuilding the cursed city JERICHO
Joshua pronounced this solemn oath in  Joshua 6:26
Cursed before the LORD is the man (nation) who undertakes to rebuild this city, Jericho.
At the cost of his firstborn son will he lay its foundations at the cost of his youngest will he set up its gates.

October 11 2010 the Japanese government laid a corner stone in Jericho to inaugurate the construction of an industrial park.
5 months later to the day this terrible earthquake took place in Japan.
also
BEFORE the quake struck, the Japan government issued a statement favoring the Palestinian enemies of GOD.
SUPPORTING a PALESTINIAN STATE in Israel brings a CURSE on any nation.
God in this earthquake.

Japanese Helicopters Dump Water on Nuclear Plant

The confirmed death toll from thr 9.0 earthquake, tsunami, is 5,178  and  8,606 missing.
March 17, 2011

A nearly completed new power line could restore electric cooling systems at Fukushima.  It revive electric-powered pumps.
3 Japanese military Chinook helicopters dumped water Thursday from huge buckets onto the Fukushima nuclear plant reactors hoping to prevent a meltdown.
Radiation levels are extremely high.
The situation grows more dire as there is no more water in the spent fuel pool where unexplained white smoke is pouring from the complex.

What is the danger?
The Japanese government radiation report omitted Fukushima, ground zero in Japan's nuclear crisis, and Ibaraki, just south of Fukushima.
This makes it impossible to gauge the current danger or calculate how much fallout might reach the USA.
The Japanese nuclear experts are gathering information and watching the meteorology. They need to know what the dose rates are in various places, what direction the (radiation is) moving in and what's causing it.  One report said radiation levels at the Fukushima plant were extremely high.

G7 rallies behind Japan in bid to curb soaring yen

WHAT IF JAPAN CALLS IN U.S.A. DEBT TO THEM?
WE WOULD CRASH!

Friday 18 March 2011

Group of world's richest countries agrees to its first co-ordinated currency market intervention since launch of euro.
There are fears a mass repatriation of Japanese yen could destablise the global economy.
The world's richest nations have rallied behind Japan in a bid to calm markets over the devastating earthquake and its aftermath.

The G7 group, whose members include the United States and the UK, joined the Bank of Japan in stepping into the currency markets to curb the soaring yen. Recognising the damage that a rising national currency could do to an export-dependent economy, the Bank of England, Germany's Bundesbank, the Bank of France and the European Central Bank joined the BoJ on Friday morning in the first co-ordinated intervention by the G7 since the launch of the euro a decade ago. The US Federal Reserve is also expected to participate.

The Japanese authorities blamed speculators for the dramatic surge in the yen since the earthquake struck a week ago. Dubbing them "sneaky thieves", Japanese deputy finance minister Fumihiko Igarashi said in an interview with Reuters: "G7 countries agreed that if we caved in to such speculators that took advantage of people's misfortunes, the Japanese economy would be ruined and the whole world economy would be harmed.

"Our stance remains unchanged that we will take decisive steps against speculators who act like sneaky thieves at a scene of a fire."
The G7 was ready to act decisively again against market speculators, he added.
The BoJ reportedly bought $25bn (£15.5bn) of US currency in the wake of the G7 announcement late on Thursday.

The French finance minister, Christine Lagarde, said the G7 move was intended to support Japan and lower the yen. "The aim is obviously to support our Japanese partner, express our solidarity and to halt the yen's rise," she said on French radio station Europe 1. Having reached a price of ¥76.25 against the dollar, the yen has now weakened to ¥81.71.

Japanese finally admit that radiation leak is serious enough to kill people
18th March 2011   Friday

- Elderly patients left to die in hospital six miles from plant
- Dark days in ghost town of Tokyo: The deserted streets of a once vibrant - capital now crippled by power cuts
- Officials admit they may have to bury reactors under concrete - as happened at Chernobyl

The company finally acknowledged the radiation spewing from the over-heating reactors and fuel rods was enough to kill some citizens.
Japan admitted that the disaster was a level 5, could cause radiation deaths.
The rating was raised after they realised the full extent of the radiation leaking from the plant.
3% of the fuel in 3 of the reactors at the Fukushima plant had been severely damaged, suggesting those reactor cores have partially melted down.

Pictures show overheating fuel rods exposed to the elements through a huge hole in the wall of a reactor building at the destroyed Fukushima nuclear plant.
Radiation is streaming into the atmosphere from the used uranium rods at reactor number four, after a 45ft-deep storage pool designed to keep them stable boiled dry in a fire.
Some of the radioactive material could reach Britain but will not be dangerous.

G7 World leaders meeting in Paris
March 19, 2011 Death toll in Japan over 7,200 - 10,200  missing[/size] [b]
Federal Reserve wants to go to a global currency worldwide, not a big step then to no currency, a global cashless society.
The Federal Reserve is NOT Federal, its private.

[b]I asked a friend  WHY the yen would rise when disaster hit Japan?
His reply

Japanese corporations, investors, insurance companies have begun to sell assets held in foreign currency in order to acquire the
Yen needed to pay for recovery or claims in Japan. Selling a foreign asset for the currency it is denominated in (say, if you sell
US Bonds you are paid is US dollars), and then converting that currency into usable Yen, is tantamount to buying Yen.
Japanese are now forced to sell their assets like foreign currencies, other assets to pay off their debts(insurance etc) through yen.
Now yen are in great demand and appreciating day by day.

QUESTION
Does Japan hold a lot of US bonds?  Are US bonds worthless now?

ANSWER
Many think so but they are still redeemable, for now.
The Fed wants to lose the US dollar as the standard.  The Global currency means worthless US dollars.
The USDollar is under attack, none of the other currencies are doing well either. The agenda is to create one new global uniform
currency, so its not going to be the Euro, or dollar or anything we now know. the global communists are pushing for a global
bankruptcy and then a new economy.  But that is being resisted, hence the game play you see going on.

Damage to Japan economy may be worse than thought
March 24, 2011
Japan said that the cost of the earthquake and tsunami could reach $309 billion, making it the world’s most expensive natural disaster on record.
The extensive damage to housing, roads, utilities and businesses across seven prefectures has resulted in direct losses of 16 trillion yen ($198 billion) to 25 trillion yen ($309 billion).
The losses figure is considerably higher than other estimates. The World Bank on Monday said damage might reach $235 billion. Investment bank Goldman Sachs had estimated quake damage would be as much as $200 billion.
If government projection proves correct, it would top the losses from Hurricane Katrina.
Japan estimate does not include the impact of power shortages triggered by damage to a nuclear power plant, so the overall economic impact could be even higher. It also leaves out potential global repercussions.

Japanese nuclear safety officials said Friday that they suspect that the reactor core at one unit of the Fukushima nuclear power plant may have breached, raising the possibility of more severe contamination to the environment.

Japan Nuke Plant
March 26, 2011
Japan says nuclear plant situation NOT getting worse
Conditions at Japan Nuke Plant Worsen as Workers Race to Cool Overheating Reactors
Despite some signs of hope in the past week at Japan's troubled Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant, conditions have taken an increasingly alarming turn, with a possible breach at one of the reactors and highly radioactive water found leaking from that and two other reactors.
U.S. naval barges loaded with fresh water sped toward the crippled nuclear plant to help workers who scrambled Saturday amid radioactivity fears.
Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power Co. is now rushing to inject the reactors with fresh water instead amid concerns about the corrosive nature of the salt in seawater, Hidehiko Nishiyama of Japan's Nuclear and Industry Safety Agency said at a briefing Saturday.
Workers have begun pumping radioactive water from one of the units, Masateru Araki, a TEPCO spokesman, said Saturday.
Plant officials and government regulators say they don't know the source of the radioactive water. It could have come from a leaking reactor core, connecting pipes or a spent fuel pool. Or it may be the result of overfilling the pools with emergency cooling water.

Japan nuclear reactor radiation soars
27 March 2011
People in Japan are becoming increasingly concerned about what is going to happen in the future
High levels of caesium and other substances are being detected, which usually should not be found in reactor water. There is a high possibility that fuel rods are being damaged
Radioactivity in water at reactor 2 at the quake-damaged Fukushima nuclear plant has reached 10 million times the usual level, company officials say.
Workers trying to cool the reactor core to avoid a meltdown have been evacuated.

Earlier, Japan's nuclear agency said that levels of radioactive iodine in the sea near the plant had risen to 1,850 times the usual level.
The UN's nuclear agency has warned the crisis could go on for months.
It is believed the radiation at Fukushima is coming from one of the reactors, but a specific leak has not been identified.
Leaking water at reactor 2 has been measured at 1,000 millisieverts/hour - 10 million times higher than when the plant is operating normally.
"We are examining the cause of this, but no work is being done there because of the high level of radiation," said a spokesman for the plant's operator Tokyo Electric Power Co (Tepco).

Prompt Critical Multimedia Information

Apr 7, 2011

In nuclear Engineering, an assembly is prompt critical if for each nuclear fission event, one or more of the immediate or prompt Neutrons released causes an additional fission event.
This causes a rapid, exponential increase in the number of fission events. Prompt criticality is a special case of supercriticality.

An assembly is critical if each fission event causes, on average, exactly one other. This causes a self-sustaining fission chain reaction. When a uranium-235 atom undergoes nuclear fission, it typically releases 2 or 3 neutrons . In this situation, an assembly is critical if every released neutron has a 1 2.4 0.42 42 probability of causing another fission event before it is absorbed by a non-fissile atom or lost to the chain-reaction by other routes. This can be achieved either through enrichment which increases the fraction of fissile U-235 atoms in the uranium fuel, or by slowing down the neutrons by letting them scatter off lighter nuclei called moderators .

The average number of neutrons that cause new fission events is called the criticality or effective neutron multiplication factor, denoted by the letter k. When k is equal to 1, the assembly is called critical, if k is less than 1 the assembly is said to be subcritical, and if k is greater than 1 the assembly is called supercritical.

Japan Radiation Leak Raises Seafood Fears

Apr 6, 2011
High radiation levels measured in seawater near the site of the stricken Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant has spurred fears of radioactive contamination in seafood.
Early this week, reports from Japan indicated that excessive radiation had been detected in small fish caught near and south of the Fukushima site.
The radiation showed the presence of radioactive isotopes of iodine and cesium, two elements associated with nuclear accidents.

Still, authorities are being quoted as saying, essentially, that the spill of radiation to the sea does not pose an immediate threat to the food chain.
The vast volume of water filling the ocean basins should confine significant contamination to a relatively small area near the site, it has been argued.

Moreover, waters off Fukushima reportedly do not comprise a major source of fish for Japan, and the immediate area of the plant has been off-limits to fishing.
Still, given that the radioisotopes leaking from the failed power plant have "half lives" measuring days to a few years, it would take a number of years for any local accumulation of these radioactive elements to dissipate naturally.

In the U.S., concerns have raised in relation to tuna and possible radioactive contamination. The albacore tuna apparently spends part of its life off eastern Japan, then migrates to waters off the West Coast.
However, significant uptick in radiation may cause the tuna to spend substantial time feeding in close proximity to the leaking nuclear facility.

Has this been posted yet? Apparently, there's this theory that's been going around of an Elenin-earth-sun alignment that caused not only the Japan earthquake, but also the previous 2 big ones over the last year.

Yes - THREE times! Even AJ has mentioned it on his program recently - no, I don't endorse AJ, but even he's been pretty adament since the quake happened that this was not HAARP at all.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RnG8Pa0u-4U&feature=player_embedded

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=95zMdTvoqcQ&feature=related
9nania uploaded that warning on March 8, 2011.  The reason I first learned of this was because Alex Jones played a clip from this video on his radio show.

Sept. 4, 2010 - Christchurch, New Zealand - 7.1 earthquake
Elenin-earth-sun alignment

Feb. 7, 2010 - Chile - 8.8 earthquake
Elenin-earth-sun alignment

Mar. 11, 2011 - Japan - 9.0 earthquake
Elenin-earth-sun alignment

Once is an accident. Twice is coincidence. Three times is a pattern.

And apparently, this alignment is set to happen again on 9/26 of this year.

Is the 6th seal about to be unleashed pretty soon? We shall all find out...

Cars, whole houses and even severed feet in shoes, the vast field of debris from Japan earthquake and tsunami is floating towards U.S. West Coast.
A vast field of debris, swept out to sea following the Japan earthquake and tsunami, is floating towards the U.S. West Coast.
There have been reports of cars, tractor-trailers, capsized ships and even whole houses bobbing around in open water.
But even more grisly are the human feet, still in their shoes, to wash up on the West Coast within 3 years.
The U.S. Navy who spotted the floating rubbish, say they have never seen anything like it and are warning the debris poses a threat to shipping traffic.

Japan Nuclear Radiation 4 Times Chernobyl Levels OUTSIDE Evacuation Zone
April 10, 2011
Independent scientists find radiation levels beyond Japan evacuation zone are 4 times higher than Chernobyl levels beyond the 30km evacuation zone and higher than official government reported numbers.  Japanese Asashi NEWS reports that radiation levels measured by a collaboration of independent scientists from Kyoto University and Hiroshima university refute the official radiation levels released by the Government of Japan.

Radiation levels 400 times normal are expected to remain in communities beyond the 30km evacuation zone.
Japan plans to extend evacuation zone around damaged nuclear plant because of high radiation levels -
The scientists pointed out the official Government radiation levels included only two types of radioactive isotopes. Scientists from the university say they have detected 6 radioactive isotopes and have provided new estimates with showing higher levels of radiation being released based on the inclusion of the additional isotopes detected.

In response, the Japan government agreed to consider the new numbers noting they would consider the new numbers based on a 1 year exposure where current evacuation standards are based on 3 months of exposure.

Japan May Raise Nuke Accident Severity Level To Highest 7 From 5
TOKYO (Kyodo)-The Nuclear Safety Commission of Japan released a preliminary calculation Monday saying that the crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant had been releasing up to 10,000 terabecquerels of radioactive materials per hour at some point after a massive quake and tsunami hit northeastern Japan on March 11.

The disclosure prompted the government to consider raising the accident's severity level to 7, the worst on an international scale, from the current 5, government sources said. The level 7 on the International Nuclear Event Scale has only been applied to the 1986 Chernobyl catastrophe.

The current provisional evaluation of 5 is at the same level as the Three Mile Island accident in the United States in 1979.
According to an evaluation by the INES, level 7 accidents correspond with a release into the external environment radioactive materials equal to more than tens of thousands terabecquerels of radioactive iodine 131. One terabecquerel equals 1 trillion becquerels.

Haruki Madarame, chairman of the commission, which is a government panel, said it has estimated that the release of 10,000 terabecquerels of radioactive materials per hour continued for several hours.

The commission says the release has since come down to under 1 terabecquerel per hour and said that it is still examining the total amount of radioactive materials released.
The commission also released a preliminary calculation for the cumulative amount

JAPAN has 11 Reactors

6 at Fukushima Daiichi  (3 were not operating when quake hit)
4 at Fukushima Daini

One at Tokai

April  13,  2011

What happened and what needs to be done
March 11 early afternoon at 14:46 local time, a magnitude 9.1 earthquake struck off north-east coast of Japan.
A month after the quake, engineers are still trying to stop Fukushima reactors from overheating.
A month has elapsed since the emergency at Fukushima began. But what exactly has gone on there and what are the priorities now?
The 11 operating nuclear power reactors in the region all tripped as designed (the nuclear fission process was stopped).
However, the fuel in a nuclear reactor continues to produce considerable amounts of heat even when fission has stopped, and the key task is to keep water circulating over the fuel to remove that decay heat.

Earth movements from Japan earthquake seen from space
March 30,  2011

Satellite images have been essential for helping relief efforts in Japan following the massive quake that struck on 11 March.
Now scientists are using ESA’s space radars to improve our understanding of tectonic events.
Scientists are calling on data from the advanced radar on ESA Envisat satellite to map surface deformations caused by the magnitude-9 earthquake.
Studying data acquired on 19 February and 21 March, scientists from NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory have detected a ground shift of about 2.5 m eastwards and a downward motion of Honshu Island’s east coast.

Satellite imagery shows northern Japan slipping down and eastward toward a 20,000 foot deep trench by about 8 feet following the 9.1 quake on Mar 11.
Overlays were done Mar 21 and compared to same location Feb 19 prior to the quake, and the data were analyzed showing the slippage.
Amazing confirmation of Japan actually sinking into the ocean.  Another major quake and she could go into the sea on the northern part of the island.

Radiation spreads across the world
April 20, 2011
NaturalNews -  Nuclear weather worsens.  Every day the news gets worse. Today it was robots telling us that radiation is so hot inside the nuclear plant in Japan that workers will have a hard to impossible time to work in certain areas to recover the plant from worst case scenarios. Radiation levels are just heading up across the board and across continents. Sunday morning the news was so bad that I didn't know what to do or write.

I could try screaming but I am not the type...or crying, well that comes almost too easily. Perhaps I am crazy. After all, Ann Coulter got on TV and actually said, "The only good news is that anyone exposed to excess radiation from the nuclear power plants is now probably much less likely to get cancer." And Dr. Josef Oehmen, a research scientist at MIT, said, "I repeat, there was and will *not* be any significant release of radioactivity from the damaged Japanese reactors."

Avoiding exposure and radiation-induced diseases might come down to, I am terribly sorry to say, running for our lives. Anyone who cannot accept this is the reality millions of Japanese face is probably not worth saving so let them consume all the milk and unwashed leafy vegetables they can.

I got two probably well-deserved complaints about it. I allowed myself the expression as my first lines in a terrible document about the worsening situation in Japan and I could feel my anger building about the insensitivity of our world civilization and its institutions.

My editors also allowed me the expression and still I don't know how to express it differently, not really. My heart keeps crying silently for my friends and family in America. I mean I know how everyone must feel knowing that radiation exposure will very shortly be drizzling into most places in North America and the rest of the hemispheric north 24/7. Today, if you look at the maps, mid-range levels of radiation are hitting the west coast. The forecast for April 19 looked like this:

Majority of Japan tsunami dead were older than 60
April 20, 2011
Conspiracists say quake was caused by HAARP .. and the globalists want to kill elderly.  hmmm
New data from Japan's National Police Agency show that two-thirds of the victims identified so far in last month's tsunami were elderly and most of them drowned.
The agency said in a release this week that as of a month after the March 11 disaster, 65 percent of the 13,135 * confirmed fatalities of known age were 60 or older.

Another 1,899 identified victims were of unknown age.
Adding those who are still missing, the earthquake and resulting tsunami killed an estimated 27,500 people.
The agency also reported that nearly 93 percent of the victims had drowned. Others died from fires, being crushed or other causes.
The earthquake and tsunami hit the rural, northeastern coast where there were higher concentrations of elderly residents.

JAPAN tragedy affects world population

April 28, 2011  By Dr. James Howenstine, MD

Everyone in Japan will possibly die from radiation poisoning.
Hopefully the nations of the world will offer asylum to Japanese citizens who understand the magnitude of the problem and desire to leave.
Eventually all countries and oceans will become badly contaminated by radiation. The death toll easily could go into millions.

This meltdown in Japan is a devastating tragedy. Japanese physicist Michio Kaku reported on March 14 that all 3 Fukushima reactors are melting down and that the battle has been lost.
Radioactive spent fuel from earlier usage in the reactors is stored at the site.  This is 300 times worse than Chernobyl as that incident had no reactor meltdown.

Dangerous levels of radiation reported in the Midwest, California, Washington, Oregon and Western Canada.
Radioactive milk was detected in Washington State and Radioactive rainwater with 18,000 times greater radiation than acceptable in San Francisco, California.

March 29 nuclear reactors in North, South Carolina and Florida reported detecting small amounts of pure radioactive iodine that originated in Japan, not local.

Soil samples near Fukushima reactors tested positive for plutonium. The means that the airborne radioactivity in the USA and Canada probably contains plutonium along with cesium 134, uranium and strontium 90.
These 4 substances are infinitely more dangerous than radioactive iodine.

From an Email I just received - from someone I have not heard of before.

RE: Dr. James Howenstine's article "World Tragedy begins in Japan"

I linked to the article and read it.  I respect your frequent disclaiming that some of your reporting is your own opinion, or produced by faulty judgment.  We periodically give thoughtful reading to Zion's Cry.

However, I am troubled at what I believe to be completely unfactual
claims by this Dr. Howenstine
.  He says the Chernobyl disaster did not include a complete reactor meltdown.

This stands in stark contrast to the eyewitness accounts and careful research of leading Russian and Western physicists and nuclear scientists.
I have studied concerning that disaster, and read a book detailing the lead-up to, the meltdown itself, and the aftermath, by a Russian scientist who risked life and reputation to tell the story the Soviets didn't want us to know.

Dr. Howenstine is wrong:  Chernobyl was a complete reactor meltdown.
And to publish otherwise, even declaring that the Fukoshima disaster is "300 times worse" is, I fear, simply fear-mongering for publicities' sake.
I noted toward the end of the article quite an advertising campaign for "the only" B-Complex that will do the trick for protecting us humans.
Do I smell some conflict of interest here???
Just registering my concern...

Japan Admits Fukushima Suffered Nuclear Meltdown
May 12, 2011
Engineers from the Tokyo Electric Power company (Tepco) entered the No.1 reactor at the end of last week for the first time and
saw the top five feet or so of the core’s 13ft-long fuel rods had been exposed to the air and melted down.

Previously, Tepco believed that the core of the reactor was submerged in enough water to keep it stable and that only 55 per cent of the core had been damaged.
Now the company is worried that the molten pool of radioactive fuel may have burned a hole through the bottom of the containment vessel, causing water to leak.

Fukushima fallout killing babies

Fukushima fallout killing babies

June  10, 2011

Physician and Epidemiologist say 35% spike in infant mortality in Pacific northwest possibly due to fallout from Fukushima.
Babies are much more vulnerable to radiation than adults.
However, radiation safety standards are set based on the assumption that everyone exposed is a healthy man in his 20s.

A doctor and epidemiologist ask whether a spike in infant deaths in the Northwest are due to Fukushima.
The recent CDC Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report indicates that 8 cities in the northwest U.S.
(Boise ID, Seattle WA, Portland OR, plus northern California cities reported the following data on deaths among those younger than one year of age.

BEFORE the March 11 earthquake in Japan
-    4 weeks ending March 19, 2011 -  37 deaths  (avg. 9.25 per week)

AFTER the earthquake in Japan
-  10 weeks ending  May 28, 2011 -  125 deaths  (avg.12.50 per week)

This amounts to a 35% increase, and is statistically significant.

Japan: Major Accident at Breeder Reacter

There is no way to know if blogs have accurate information.  DISCERN!
I have called the entire island of JAPAN a DEATH TRAP

June 17, 2011
300 miles southwest of Fukushima, at a nuclear reactor [60 miles from Kyoto, a city of 1.5 million people] engineers are engaged in another precarious struggle.

[A] 3.3-ton device crashed into the reactor’s inner vessel, cutting off access to the plutonium and uranium fuel rods at its core. [...]

[C]ritics warn that the recovery process is fraught with dangers because the plant uses large quantities of liquid sodium, a highly flammable substance, to cool the nuclear fuel.

[T]he fast-breeder design of the reactor makes it more prone to Chernobyl-type runaway reactions in the case of a severe accident, critics say

More than 3 millisieverts of radiation has been measured in the urine of 15 Fukushima residents of the village of Iitate and the town of Kawamata, confirming internal radiation exposure, it was learned Sunday.

Both are about 30 to 40 km from the Fukushima No. 1 power plant, which has been releasing radioactive material into the environment since the week of March 11, when the quake and tsunami caused core meltdowns.

Magnitude 5.4 quake hits central Japan, 7 injured

..TOKYO (Reuters) - A magnitude 5.4 earthquake hit central Japan and injured seven people on Thursday, but there were no immediate reports of major damage.

The epicenter of the earthquake, which struck around 8:16 a.m. (2316 GMT on Wednesday) was in Nagano prefecture, about 120 km (75 miles) from Tokyo, the Japan Meteorological Agency said.

No tsunami warning was issued after the quake, the agency said. The magnitude was revised down from a preliminary reading of 5.5.

Seven people were taken to hospital including those hurt from falling objects, but the injuries did not appear serious, an official at the local fire department said.

Japan accounts for about 20 percent of the world's earthquakes of magnitude 6 or greater.

On March 11, the northeast coast was struck by a magnitude 9 earthquake, the strongest quake in Japan on record, and a massive tsunami, which triggered the world's worst nuclear crisis in 25 years, at the Fukushima nuclear power plant. The disaster left up to 23,000 dead or missing.

5.6 quake rattles Japan near Fukushima site

..NEW YORK (AP) — An earthquake registering 5.6 shook the Pacific off Honshu, Japan, the U.S. Geological Survey said Thursday. That is the area of northeast Japan ravaged by a March 11 quake and tsunami that knocked out power at the Fukushima nuclear plant.

No immediate damage or casualties were reported from the quake that struck at 3:35 a.m. Friday (1835 GMT Thursday), the USGS said. No tsunami watch was immediately issued.

The epicenter of the quake was some 51 miles (83 kilometers) southeast of Fukushima, in Honshu, Japan, the USGS said. The quake was centered some 28 miles (45 kilometers deep, the agency said.

The March 11 quake was magnitude 9.0, triggering a disaster that devastated Japan's northeastern coast, destroying towns, homes and businesses. More than 22,600 people are dead or missing.

Strong earthquake rocks northeastern Japan - 7.1

.TOKYO (AP) — A strong earthquake with a magnitude of 7.1 hit Japan's northeastern coast on Sunday, prompting a tsunami warning for the area still recovering from a devastating quake and killer wave four months ago.

Residents in coastal areas were warned to evacuate, but there were no immediate reports of damage.

The quake hit at 9:57 local time (0057 GMT), and a warning of a tsunami was issued for most of the northeastern coastline. The epicenter of the quake was in the Pacific Ocean off the coast of Japan's main island, Honshu, at a depth of about 6 miles (10 kilometers).

Japanese officials predicted the quake could generate tsunami of up to 20 inches (50 centimeters), but the initial waves were only about 4 inches (10 centimeters).

Japan's northeastern coastline was devastated by an earthquake and tsunami on March 11 that left nearly 23,000 dead or missing and touched off a nuclear crisis at a badly damaged facility in Fukushima.

Officials said there were no reports of abnormalities at the Fukushima plant caused by Sunday's quake. Airports in the area were also functioning normally.

Japan is one of the world's most earthquake-prone countries. Dozens of strong aftershocks have been felt since the March 11 disaster, which measured a 9.0 magnitude and was the strongest in Japanese history.

Sunday's quake registered 4 on the Japanese scale of 7, meaning it was felt as moderately strong. Because of the damage from the March quake and tsunami, however, many buildings in the area are structurally weak and seawalls have been destroyed, making the region more vulnerable to relatively weaker quakes.

JAPAN is a DEATH TRAP

Death in seconds
Radiation pockets found at Fukushima plant
Leakage at the plant may have been contained or slowed but it has not been sealed off completely

Pockets of lethal levels of radiation have been detected at Japan's crippled Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant in a reminder of the risks faced by workers battling to contain the worst nuclear accident since Chernobyl.
Plant operator Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco) reported on Monday that radiation exceeding 10 sieverts (10,000 millisieverts) per hour was found at the bottom of a ventilation stack standing between two reactors.

Tepco said Tuesday it found another spot on the ventilation stack itself where radiation exceeded 10 sieverts per hour, a level that could lead to incapacitation or death after just several seconds of exposure.

Japan Fukushima nuclear plant
Reporters have been allowed inside the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan for the first time since it was crippled by an earthquake and tsunami in March.
The journalists toured the plant wearing full protective clothing.
A reporter from the Associated Press described seeing "twisted and overturned trucks, crumbling reactor buildings and piles of rubble virtually untouched since the wave struck".
Three reactors melted down after the tsunami wrecked their cooling systems.
The authorities have previously rejected requests by journalists to visit the plant, on the grounds that radiation levels were too high and it could hamper operations to tackle the crisis.
This tour was designed to show that the situation at the plant is gradually becoming more stable.
The reporters arrived at Fukushima on Friday and were shown a nearby football-training complex which is now being used as a base for the clean-up operation.

Japan ‘May Be’ Close to a Downgrade: S&P
24 November 2011, by Aki Ito (Bloomberg)
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/201...downgrade-as-finances-worsen.html

Excerpt:

Standard & Poor’s said Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda’s administration hasn’t made progress in tackling the public debt burden, an indication it may be preparing to lower the nation’s sovereign grade.

“Japan’s finances are getting worse and worse every day, every second,” Takahira Ogawa, director of sovereign ratings at S&P in Singapore, said in an interview. Asked if that means he’s closer to cutting Japan, he said it “may be right in saying that we’re closer to a downgrade. But the deterioration has been gradual so far, and it’s not like we’re going to move today.”

A reduction in S&P’s AA- rating would be a setback for Noda, who took office in September and has pledged to both steady Japan’s finances and implement reconstruction from the nation’s record earthquake in March. It’s unrealistic for Japan to think it can escape the debt woes that have engulfed nations overseas unless it can control its finances, according to Ogawa.

While Japan has enjoyed borrowing costs at global lows for its debt, the International Monetary Fund said in a report released on its website yesterday there’s a risk of a “sudden spike” in yields that could make the debt level unsustainable. Japanese government bonds fell after Ogawa’s remarks, sending 10-year yields to the highest level in three weeks.

Developed nations are struggling to retain investor confidence in their bonds after borrowing deepened with the global recession and financial crisis. Germany yesterday failed to get sufficient bids to sell all of the 10-year securities it offered to sell.

Traces of Radioactive Material Found in Japanese Baby Formula
12/6/11

TOKYO—In the latest radiation food scare to hit Japan, the country's largest maker of baby formula said it found radioactive cesium in cans on store shelves. Although the measured amount falls well below the level the government has declared hazardous, the discovery lengthens the list of foods affected by the nuclear accident, and is the first in a product targeted at the age group considered most vulnerable to the effects of radioactivity.

Meiji Holdings Co. said Tuesday that radioactive cesium 137 and 139 of up to 30.8 becquerels per kilogram had been detected in its "Meiji step" baby formula. It is unclear how many cans are contaminated, but the company said that 400,000 cans currently on sale are in the affected batches. The company isn't recalling the formula, but said customers can replace any of the purchased 850-gram cans in question free of charge.

The amount of cesium detected is considerably less than the 200 becquerels per kilogram limit set by the government for such products. "Even if drunk everyday, the level [of radioactive material] detected would not have an effect on health," the company said in a statement.

Japan to enter dollar swap agreement with India
12/24/11 - The Japanese government is considering a dollar swap arrangement with India to provide emergency liquidity in case the European debt crisis reaches emerging economies, the Nikkei business newspaper said on Sunday.
The agreement would set the total swap arrangement at $10 billion, or 780 billion yen, the Nikkei said.

Both countries are looking to sign off on the arrangement next Wednesday, when leaders meet at a bilateral summit, the paper said.

The currency swaps are expected to support the Indian rupee as it continues to weaken against the greenback and Europe's sovereign debt crisis hits India's exports.
The dollar-swap arrangement with India would follow a similar agreement with South Korea in October.

Disaster-struck Japan set for record high spending
Disaster-struck Japan is headed to record high budget spending of 96 trillion yen ($1.2 trillion) as the nation tackles the costs of recovery from the March earthquake and tsunami.
The Cabinet approved the draft budget for the fiscal year staring April 2012 on Saturday, covering massive costs for reconstruction in northeastern Japan as well as decontamination efforts for radiation leaked from a damaged nuclear power plant.
The government will rely on new debt for 49 percent of its annual revenue, the highest level ever, according to Kyodo News service.

Japan Budget’s Dependence on Debt Sales to Rise to Record Next Fiscal Year
24 December 2011  Bloomberg
Japan’s budget for the year starting April showed the government more dependent than ever on bond sales to fund spending as Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda struggles to tame the world’s biggest public debt burden.

The government will sell 44.2 trillion yen ($566 billion) of new bonds to fund 90.3 trillion yen of spending, raising the budget’s dependence on debt to an unprecedented 49%, a plan approved by the Cabinet in Tokyo yesterday showed.
Spending will shrink for the first time in six years after the government delayed appropriations for the nation’s pension fund and used supplementary expenditure packages to pay for earthquake reconstruction.

Noda’s first budget may fail to reassure credit-rating companies and analysts monitoring his efforts to control public debt twice the size of annual economic output.
The government trimmed 2.6 trillion yen from the package by allocating special bonds to delay pension funding until a planned sales-tax increase boosts revenue.
“The government is trying to maintain surface appearances by playing with the numbers,” said Takahide Kiuchi, chief economist at Nomura Securities Co. in Tokyo.
“This budget clearly shows Japan’s fiscal situation is worsening.”

Japan’s Government to Sell Record 149.7 Trillion Yen Debt in Fiscal 2012
24 December 2011  Bloomberg
Japan’s government said it will increase bond sales to the market to a record 149.7 trillion yen ($1.9 trillion) in the fiscal year starting April 1.
The amount for investors such as banks and life insurers is 4.8 trillion yen more than 144.9 trillion yen in the initial plan for fiscal 2011.

Total debt issuance, including securities to replace maturing debt and so-called zaito bonds sold for government agencies, will increase by 4.6 trillion yen to a record 174.2 trillion yen.
Sales of new financing bonds intended to plug the government’s budget deficit will total 44.2 trillion yen, an amount in line with the government’s pledge to keep it below 44.3 trillion yen.
The Ministry of Finance will enlarge each monthly auction of debt maturing in 10 and 20 years by 100 billion yen from the original plan for this year.

The government in November started to sell an extra 100 billion yen of two- and five-year debt at each auction of the securities, after Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda approved a 12.1 trillion yen third supplementary budget to fund earthquake reconstruction.
It currently sells 2.7 trillion yen in two-year notes and 2.5 trillion yen in five-year notes every month.

Noda Task Is Tax Rise as Japan Debt Load Swells
26 December 2011 Bloomberg
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda faces escalating pressure to secure support for higher taxes after Japan’s budget plan for the next fiscal year showed a record dependence on borrowing.
The government will sell 44.2 trillion yen ($566 billion) of new bonds to fund 90.3 trillion yen of spending, raising the budget’s reliance on debt to an unprecedented 49%, a plan approved by the Cabinet in Tokyo on Dec. 24 showed.

While spending will decrease for the first time in six years, Noda will delay funding the nation’s pension fund and will create a separate budget account to pay for earthquake reconstruction.
An aging population and two decades of low growth after an asset bubble burst in the early 1990s have left Japan with debt projected at a record 1 quadrillion yen this year.
Noda faces opposition from the public and within his Democratic Party of Japan to boosting sales taxes even as Standard & Poor’s mulls lowering the sovereign rating, already cut in January to AA-.

China, Japan to Back Direct Trade of Currencies
Japan and China will promote direct trading of the yen and yuan without using dollars and will encourage the development of a market for companies involved in the exchanges, the Japanese government said. Japan will also apply to buy Chinese bonds next year, allowing the investment of renminbi that leaves China during the transactions, the Japanese government said in a statement after a meeting between Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda and Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao in Beijing yesterday. Encouraging direct yen- yuan settlement should reduce currency risks and trading costs, the Japanese and Chinese governments said.

China is Japan’s biggest trading partner with 26.5 trillion yen ($340 billion) in two-way transactions last year, from 9.2 trillion yen a decade earlier. The pacts between the world’s second- and third-largest economies mirror attempts by fund managers to diversify as the two-year-old European debt crisis keeps global financial markets volatile.
“Given the huge size of the trade volume between Asia’s two biggest economies, this agreement is much more significant than any other pacts China has signed with other nations,” said Ren Xianfang, a Beijing-based economist with IHS Global Insight Ltd.

Debris Field The Size Of California From Japanese Tsunami Begins To Litter West Coast

The fact that no federal agency is preparing for this huge wave of radiated garbage shows just how insane the leaders of this once great country have become.
A massive debris field the size of California that is surely fully radiated is on its way to the west coast yet the corporate controlled media (see Project Mockingbird) instead focuses on Iran and its nuclear program.
The west coast of the United States WILL be hit with at least partially radiated debris from Japan and the corporate media WILL either heavily downplay the dangers or completely ignore them all together.

Deflation’s Grip Returns in Japan as Factory Production Declines: Economy
28 December 2011
(Bloomberg)
Japan’s rebound from the March earthquake and tsunami sputtered in November as production and retail sales tumbled, deepening the nation’s return to the deflation that first took hold a decade ago.
Industrial output slumped 2.6% from October, more than all the forecasts in a Bloomberg News survey of 29 economists, a government report showed today in Tokyo. Retail sales slid 2.1%.
Consumer prices excluding fresh food fell 0.2% from a year earlier after a 0.1% decline the previous month.
The weakening economy, hurt by Europe’s debt crisis and plans by companies from Panasonic Corp. to Nissan Motor Co. to shift production abroad, may undermine Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda’s plan to raise taxes and cut the world’s largest debt burden.

Insurers’ 2011 Catastrophe Losses Reached Record on Japan
1/4/12  Japan’s earthquake and U.S. storms helped make 2011 the costliest year on record for insurance companies in terms of natural-disaster losses, according to Munich Re (ARN).
Several “devastating” earthquakes and a large number of weather-related catastrophes cost insurers $105 billion, more than double the natural-disaster figure for 2010 and exceeding the 2005 record of $101 billion, the world’s biggest reinsurer said in an e-mailed statement today. Competitor Swiss Re earlier estimated that the industry’s claims from natural catastrophes reached $103 billion.

Global economic losses jumped to $380 billion last year, surpassing the previous record of $220 billion in 2005, with the quakes in New Zealand in February and Japan in March accounting for almost two-thirds of the losses, Munich Re said.
“We had to contend with events with return periods of once every 1,000 years or even higher at the locations concerned,” Torsten Jeworrek, Munich Re’s board member responsible for global reinsurance, said in the statement. “We are prepared for such extreme situations.”

More than 15,000 people lost their lives in the disaster that sent radioactive particles rushing into the air, land and water surrounding the damaged plant in northeastern Japan.
A government spokesman who declined to give his name told CNN the prefecture is working out a plan to sample milk from new mothers in the area.
Scientists last May and June found traces of radioactive cesium in 7 out of 21 samples of mother's milk in Fukushima, but insisted the amounts were minute, and posed no harm to the babies.

Study finds if March 11 Tohoku earthquake struck U.S. northwest coast, it would leave it in ruins

http://theextinctionprotocol.word...coast-it-would-leave-it-in-ruins/

February 23, 2012 – SEATTLE - Studies of last year’s giant Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan suggest that shaking from a Cascadia megaquake could be stronger than expected along the coasts of Washington, Oregon and British Columbia, researchers reported Sunday at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Scientists are still unraveling last year’s giant Tohoku earthquake and tsunami in Japan, and some of what they’re finding doesn’t bode well for the Pacific Northwest. Detailed analyses of the way the Earth warped along the Japanese coast suggest that shaking from a Cascadia megaquake could be stronger than expected along the coasts of Washington, Oregon and British Columbia, researchers reported Sunday at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. “The Cascadia subduction zone can be seen as a mirror image of the Tohoku area,” said John Anderson, of the University of Nevada. Anderson compiled ground-motion data from the Japan quake and overlaid it on a map of the Pacific Northwest, which has a similar fault — called a subduction zone — lying offshore. In Japan, the biggest jolts occurred underwater. The seafloor was displaced by 150 feet or more in some places, triggering the massive tsunami. But in the Northwest, it’s the land that will be rocked hardest — because the Pacific coast here lies so close to the subduction zone. “The ground motions that we have from Tohoku may actually be an indication that there could be much stronger shaking in the coastal areas of British Columbia, Washington and Oregon,” Anderson said. Cities like Seattle, Portland and Vancouver, B.C., are far enough from the coast that they might dodge the most violent hammering. But all of the urban areas sit on geologic basins that can amplify ground motion like waves in a bathtub. –Seattle Times

Japan tsunami debris spreading across Pacific
28 Feb 2012
HONOLULU (AP) — Lumber, boats and other debris ripped from Japanese coastal towns by tsunamis last year have spread across some 3,000 miles (4,828 kilometers) of the northern Pacific, where they could wash ashore on the U.S. west coast as early as a year from now.

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration estimated the first bits of tsunami debris will make landfall soon on small atolls northwest of the main Hawaiian Islands. Other pieces were expected to reach the coasts of Oregon, Washington state, Alaska and Canada between March 2013 and March 2014.

NOAA's tsunami marine debris coordinator, Ruth Yender, told an online news conference Tuesday that agency workers were boarding Coast Guard flights that patrol the Hawaiian archipelago. NOAA also asked scientists stationed at Midway and other atolls to look for the debris.
Debris initially collected in a thick mass in the ocean after tsunamis dragged homes, boats, cars and other parts of daily life from coastal towns out to sea. Most likely sank not far from Japan's eastern coast.

Earthquakes in Japan increase five-fold after March 11, 2011 earthquake

March 9, 2012 – JAPAN – Figures compiled by the ABC reveal that since the massive earthquake in Japan a year ago the country has been rattled by more than five times as many tremors as usual. That includes 10 aftershocks of magnitude seven or greater. Using figures provided by Japan’s meteorological agency, the ABC found that there have been more than 9,000 significant tremors under and around Japan since last year’s March 11 earthquake. That compares with 1,300 for all of 2010. As well as 10 quakes of magnitude seven or greater in the past year, there were more than 100 that were more violent than magnitude six. Recent media reports suggest Tokyo has a 70 per cent chance of being hit with a major earthquake in the next four years. –ABC

Moment of silence marks 1 year since Japan quake
3/11/12  RIKUZENTAKATA, Japan — People along Japan's tsunami-battered northeast coast and elsewhere across the country have observed a moment of silence to mark the exact time a massive earthquake struck the nation one year ago.
The magnitude-9.0 quake on March 11, 2011, triggered a terrifying tsunami that devastated the northeastern coast, killing just over 19,000 people and unleashing a nuclear crisis at the Fukushima Dai-ichi power plant.

New study finds Japan’s defenses woefully inadequate to protect against a major tsunami

April 1, 2012 – TOKYO - Japan’s defenses against a major tsunami and the safety of its nuclear plants were thrown into further doubt after two official studies predicted much higher waves could hit and that Tokyo quake damage could be bigger than it was prepared for. The reports, carried in the media over the weekend, are likely to intensify the debate about whether to restart Japan’s 54 nuclear reactors, all but one of which are shut amid public fears about nuclear safety sparked by the Fukushima disaster in March 2011. One report said a quake as big as the one that rocked Japan in 2011 could trigger waves topping 34 meters (112 feet), almost double its previous estimate made in 2003 when it’s worst scenario forecast tsunami of no more than 20 meters (66 feet). The Cabinet Office panel which authored the report, revised its predictions after one of the biggest tremors on record struck Japan last year, setting off a tsunami that topped 20 meters in the worst-affected areas and triggering the world’s worst nuclear crisis in 25 years. “We won’t be able to contain a massive tsunami with the (current) embankments,” said Masaharu Nakagawa, disaster prevention minister on a news conference on Saturday evening. “We will have to work the (changes regarding) the city planning, disaster prevention education and evacuation into the policies,” he said. Waves at the now off-line Hamaoka nuclear plant in Shizuoka prefecture, operated by Chubu Electric Power, could reach 21 meters, breaching the 18-metre breakwater that the operators are currently building, the report said. The government is keen to get some of the reactors running after surging fuels imports resulted in a rare trade deficit, raising worries about its declining ability to fund a huge public debt with domestic savings. But it must first persuade wary locals that the plants are safe. Another official report suggested that the direct impact of a major quake has been underestimated. "Mother Nature’s" latest attack on Japan: strong winds
April 3, 2012 – TOKYO - After a winter of record snow and avalanches — not to mention last year’s record strong quake, mega-tsunami, and series of powerful typhoons — Japan is once again being battered by the elements. This time, it’s wind. A low-pressure system that landed on Japan’s main island of Honshu Tuesday has brought typhoon-force winds and rain, even snow. In anticipation of the worst of the storm, the Japan Meteorological Agency called an unusual emergency press conference Monday and issued a strong wind warning for Tokyo and neighboring Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures. As of mid-day Tuesday, 203 flights were already grounded nationwide and the final game in the nationwide high school spring baseball tournament in Osaka had also been postponed. An 82-year-old woman supposedly died in Ishikawa prefecture after the wind toppled her on the street, according to local media reports. The JMA expected the worst to hit just in time for the evening rush home and winds that could reach almost 63 miles per hour across the country. The agency has already recorded wind speeds of 73.6 mph in the city of Uzen, near Nagasaki, as of this morning. While this storm is described as packing a “typhoon-like” punch, it’s not a typhoon. Typhoons are fueled by warm water from the tropics, known as “tropical cyclones.” The high wind hitting Japan this week is caused by differences in air temperatures, not water. The JMA was warning of waves as high as 32 feet along the northern Pacific coast, snow, and avalanches. The extreme conditions will continue as the weather system passes over Japan over the next four days. This is the second windstorm to hit Tokyo in less than a week. Winds in Japan’s capital were as strong as 64 mph over the weekend as a low pressure system hit Japan’s main island of Honshu causing delays on major train lines. –WSJ

California Slammed With Fukushima Radiation

The Journal Environmental Science and Technology reports in a new study that the Fukushima radiation plume contacted North America at California “with greatest exposure in central and southern California”, and that Southern California's seaweed tested over 500% higher for radioactive  iodine-131 than anywhere else in the U.S. and Canada:

Projected paths of the radioactive atmospheric plume emanating from the Fukushima reactors, best described as airborne particles or aerosols for 131I, 137Cs, and 35S, and subsequent atmospheric monitoring showed it coming in contact with the North American continent at California, with greatest exposure in central and southern California. Government monitoring sites in Anaheim (southern California) recorded peak airborne concentrations of 131I at 1.9 pCi m−3

US Coast Guard sinks tsunami ghost ship
April 5, 2012  The US Coast Guard has used cannon to sink a crewless Japanese ship that drifted to Alaska after the 2011 tsunami.
The coast guard earlier said they would hold off scuttling the Ryou-Un Maru after a Canadian fishing boat claimed salvage rights.

But a Canadian official later said that the Bernice C had been unable to tow the 200ft (61m) Japanese "ghost ship".
The boat had no lights or power and was viewed as a danger to other ships.
It was thought to be at the vanguard of a stream of tsunami debris that has been drifting east since last year's disaster hit Japan.

The Ryou-Un Maru was first spotted off the coast of Canadian British Columbia on 23 March.
The vessel was moving at about 1km/h in a maritime transport corridor that separates US and Canadian waters.
It was adrift about 195 miles from Sitka, Alaska, when it was sunk

JAPAN ISSUES WORLD WARNING
April,  2012  JAPAN REACTOR MAY BLOW

Another earthquake over 7 will cause reactor 4 pool to break, destroying Japan and possibly the world in a short time.
(I said a year ago the entire island of Japan is a death trap.)

After the Japanese earthquake March 2011 the biggest threat was from the spent fuel rods in the fuel pool at Fukushima unit number 4, and not from the reactors themselves.
Japan has taken strong positions politically against the land of Israel recently and continues to do so, thus inviting God's wrath upon Japan.

America should take heed at what horrific disasters occur to those who take positions against Israel, like Japan presently and Germany in WWII, etc.
The US is the number one force pushing the "Two State Solution" (sounds so Hitler-ish) regarding Jerusalem, the very city God has declared as His own.

It Begins: Hand Scans For Cash

4/14/12

Bank customers will register their biometric information at a branch, according to Gizmag's Darren Quick. Then they'll be able to go to one of the new ATMs and get cash simply by scanning a hand, typing in their birthdate and a four-digit PIN. This being technophilic Japan we're talking about, I would have thought every bank there has body scanning ATMs by now. The thing is, the scanning technology is already out there but still requires every customer to use a card. Essentially the scanning has been an extra security measure. Following the massive earthquake and tsunami more than a year ago in Japan, scanning started to be seen in a new light. Instead of being extra security, it could mean standard security for customers who need cash in an emergency but don't have their bank cards on them. The AFP reports that Ziraat Bank in Turkey was the first to use the palm-scanning...

Japan chemical plant blast kills one

TOKYO: A blast at a chemical plant in western Japan killed one worker and injured at least fifteen others on Sunday, police said.

The accident occurred at a factory operated by comprehensive chemical manufacturer Mitsui Chemicals in Yamaguchi prefecture, some 700 kilometres (434 miles) southwest of Tokyo, an official at Yamaguchi prefectural police said. The deceased was a 22-year-old male employee, police said, with Jiji Press identifying him as Shota Sunakawa.

Nine other company employees and workers for subcontract companies were severely or slightly injured, while at least four residents in the neighbourhood were slightly injured, police said. “The fire is not extinguished yet as the fire department is cooling the plant while waiting for combustible materials to burn out,” he told.

“It may take more than a few days for us to find out the cause of the accident, but we are investigating it as a case of professional negligence resulting in death and injury,” he said. The plant had been manufacturing materials to make adhesives, he said. afp

Japan Seen Anteing Up on Stimulus as Yen Impact Fades: Economy
25 April 2012, by Toru Fujioka and Masahiro Hidaka (Bloomberg)
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/201...stimulus-as-yen-impact-fades.html

Excerpt:

Japan’s central bank is set to ante up on stimulus measures as a rebound in the yen shows that the impact of a 10 trillion yen ($123 billion) expansion in asset purchases in February is fading.

All 14 economists in a Bloomberg News survey predict additional easing when the Bank of Japan releases new inflation forecasts on April 27. Most expect an increase ranging from 5 trillion yen to 10 trillion yen.

One dynamic that may undermine stimulus efforts is Governor Masaaki Shirakawa’s own comments, repeated in the U.S. last week, that monetary policy has only a limited role in ending deflation and supporting growth.

Former Bank of Japan board member Atsushi Mizuno says investors are confused on where the central bank stands, while JPMorgan Chase & Co. says failing to ease could see the yen strengthen further.

Chernobyl in Fukushima’s shadow
26 Apr 2012   Today, there is great distrust of the safety of nuclear power plants has is seen worldwide. First Chernobyl then Fukushima forced a whole array of countries to reassess their attitude toward nuclear power. There have been no new nuclear plants built in the United States over the past 26 years. Now Germany, Switzerland, and Belgium will be shuttering their reactors. Spain is in the process of electing not building any new nuclear reactors, and Italy decided not to begin a nuclear energy industry at all.  In post-Fukushima Japan, only one reactor out of the country’s 54 is still running. The future of nuclear energy there is especially foggy as the wrecked reactors at Fukushima are in such a condition that they “temporarily or partially” re-achieve criticality – in other words, the emergency is not over. According to expert analysis, more than 30years will be required to fully dismantle Fukushima.

The list of those casting a suspicious eye on nuclear power goes on: In March this year, Bulgaria decided to stop construction of it’s Belene Nuclear Power Plant despite the financial losses it would incur. This is the first instance that an active international contract for the construction of a nuclear power plant has been dissolved. Mexico is putting of the construction of 10 nuclear reactors in favor of developing natural gas power plants. The Lithuanian Seimas, or parliament, is deciding to put to a popular referendum on October 12 the construction of the Visaginas nuclear power plant. India is experiencing difficulties in launching its Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant because of months of thousands-strong protests by local residents demanding its closure in the seismically active area.

Fukushima Nuclear Disaster Far From Over
Spent reactor fuel, containing roughly 85 times more long-lived radioactivity than released at Chernobyl, still sits in pools vulnerable to earthquakes.

More than a year after the Fukushima nuclear power disaster began, the news media is just beginning to grasp that the dangers to Japan and the rest of the world are far from over. After repeated warnings by former senior Japanese officials, nuclear experts, and now a U.S. senator, it's sinking in that the irradiated nuclear fuel stored in spent fuel pools amidst the reactor ruins pose far greater dangers than the molten cores. This is why:

• Nearly all of the 10,893 spent fuel assemblies sit in pools vulnerable to future earthquakes, with roughly 85 times more long-lived radioactivity than released at Chernobyl

• Several pools are 100 feet above the ground and are completely open to the atmosphere because the reactor buildings were demolished by explosions. The pools could possibly topple or collapse from structural damage coupled with another powerful earthquake.

• The loss of water exposing the spent fuel will result in overheating and can cause melting and ignite its zirconium metal cladding resulting in a fire that could deposit large amounts of radioactive materials over hundreds, if not thousands of miles.

IDAHO-MONTANA Radiation Warning!
May  4,  2012   Friday

From a friend of mine in the IDAHO-MONTANA area -
Radiation just jumped from 2 milliseverts to 30!  I haven't seen it that high!

There have been many reports of radiation from the Japan reactor in USA.
Since I could not verify I have treated that with caution.
May 4 I had someone I know tell me so I am warning you!  If radiation that high is there, its high in Washington state and likely western Canada too.

Japan radiation warning to U.S.A.

Fukushima global radiation
I have looked for some other data, and put them in my forum.  How much is hype?  I dont know.  I do believe the entire island of Japan is doomed.
I believe radiation has already made the Pacific ocean toxic and poluted the air in USA.

Fukushima, civilization on the brink, catastrophic collapse could unleash 85 times Cesium-137 radiation of Chernobyl.
Fukushima worst case scenario- hydrovolcanic explosion
No politix matter if we dont solve the problem of Fukushima, which is on the verge of a catastrophic failure that could unleash enough radiation to end human civilization.
That would turn North America into a dead zone, mutated and failed crops, radioactive groundwater, skyrocketing infant mortality, an explosion in cancer and infertility.
Obama says nothing about it, prefering to do his part to start civil war in USA.

Japan to speed pact with Korea, China: WSJ - Trade zone could rival North American agreement, European Union
12 May 2012  Japan is promising to speed up efforts to forge a trade agreement with South Korea and China, opening the prospect of a formidable union rivaling the largest regional pacts in the world, The Wall Street Journal reported Saturday.

In an interview with the Journal, Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda said Japan wants to start negotiations on an agreement “as soon as possible.”
The agreement would be called the FTA and rival the North American Free Trade Agreement and the European Union in size.

“We are pursuing high-level economic cooperation as part of our national strategy,” Noda told the Journal.
“The Japan-China-Korea FTA is an extremely important piece of it.”
Japan is relying more on China to help revive its sluggish economy, as its neighbor to the west has replaced the United States as its largest export market.

Twin quakes rock Japan
5/20/12  Japan was hit by two shallow earthquakes in the space of just eight minutes on Sunday, one of them measuring a strong 6.2-magnitude, but there were no reports of damage and no tsunami alert.
The 6.2-magnitude quake struck at 4:20pm (0720 GMT) off Japan's northeast Pacific coast, the national meteorological agency said, followed by a tremor with a reading of 5.7 at 4:28pm.
The US Geological Survey estimated the magnitude of the first quake at 6.0.
The depth of both quakes was about 10 kilometres, the agency said.

"Sea levels may change slightly due to the (first) earthquake but there is no fear of damage resulting from it," the agency said in a statement.
A 9.0-magnitude undersea earthquake off the same coast triggered a monster tsunami on March 11 last year, leaving about 19,000 people dead or missing and crippling the Fukushima nuclear power plant.

Extreme Radioactive Black Substance Discovered 5 Kilometers From Tokyo
5/15/12  Black substance five times more radioactive than Chernobyl-Belarus mandatory exculsion zone.
A mysterious black substance five times more radioactive than the Chernobyl-Belarus mandatory evacuation zone was discovered 4 kilometers from the center of Tokyo, the Hirai Station. The mystery radioactive black substance discovered close to Tokyo on the heels of the discovery of Cesium in Fukushima Prefecture 122 times higher than in Belarus evacuation zone.

The Belarus exclusion zone, a 30-mile now wilderness area around the Chernobyl plant. Tokyo is located more than 241 kilometers from the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant with four nuclear reactors in “dire” condition according to physicist Dr. Michio Kaku.

The extremely radioactive black substance was found at 4km from the center of Tokyo.
In 10 minutes walk from Hirai station of JR Sobu line, where is about 4 km from Tokyo station, 5 km from Imperial Palace
black substance was found in several places near the play ground of a public estates.

A local citizen’s group found this and had it analyzed by Prof. Yamauchi from Kobe university. He measured 243,000 Bq/Kg of cesium and the surface dose was 2?Sv/h.
Mr. Ishikawa, the chairman of citizen’s group states, the black substance is now everywhere in Tokyo, and it moves by wind or rain.
Roughly estimating, the soil around the black substance is contaminated as 15,600,000 Bq/m2 (cesium134/137).

In Belarus, the place where is more contaminated than 1,480,000Bq/Kg (cesium137) was defined as mandatory evacuation area.
To double the Belarus standard to make it close to the total of cesium 134 and 137, it becomes 2,960,000Bq/m2.

The graph to compare Tokyo to the mandatory evacuation area in Tokyo is below, which shows the contamination situation around Hirai Station is worse than no-man’s zone of Belarus by 527%.

Fukushima Update — One Year Later

Radiation levels in Washington State still safe.

March 11, 2012 marks the one year anniversary of the earthquake in Japan that was followed by a devastating tsunami. These events combined to severely damage three of the six nuclear reactors located at Fukushima. Shortly after, the Washington State Department of Health added to its routine monitoring and began reporting daily readings of radiation around the state. On March 16, 2011 we detected our first radioactive materials from Fukushima.

Monitoring has continued during the past year. Specific state health testing for radioactive materials from the damaged nuclear plants at Fukushima have consistently shown all levels have been well below any health concern for people living in Washington. Now, a year later, the federal RadNet data verifies that conclusion. Here are the latest test results:

Magnitude-6.1 earthquake shakes northeastern Japan
Posted: May 23, 2012 11:51 AM CDT Updated: May 23, 2012 11:51 AM CDT

TOKYO (AP) - A strong earthquake has struck off the coast of northeastern Japan, but no tsunami is expected.

The U.S. Geological Survey says the magnitude-6.1 earthquake hit early Thursday and was centered about 107 kilometers (66 miles) northeast of Hachinohe at a depth of 40 kilometers (25 miles).

Japan's Kyodo News agency says the quake shook Aomori prefecture (state) and other areas of northeastern Japan but no abnormalities were reported at nearby nuclear power plants. No tsunami warning was issued.

A massive magnitude-9.0 earthquake and tsunami ravaged Japan's northeastern coastline in March last year, leaving some 19,000 people dead or missing and badly damaging the Fukushima Dai-ichi nuclear plant.

Fitch downgrades Japan to A+, outlook negative
22 May 2012, by William L. Watts - Frankfurt (MarketWatch)
http://www.marketwatch.com/story/...tlook-negative-2012-05-22-5911734

Fitch Ratings on Tuesday downgraded Japan to A+ and issued a negative outlook on the country's credit rating, citing rising public debt levels. Japan's long-term foreign rating had stood at AA and its local currency issuer default rating was previously at AA-.

"The downgrades and negative outlooks reflect growing risks for Japan's sovereign credit profile as a result of high and rising public debt ratios," said Andrew Colquhoun, head of Asia-Pacific sovereigns at Fitch, in a news release.

"The country's fiscal consolidation plan looks leisurely relative even to other fiscally-challenged high-income countries, and implementation is subject to political risk," he said.

Utility Says It Underestimated Radiation Released in Japan
TOKYO (Reuters) — The amount of radioactive materials released in the first days of the Fukushima nuclear disaster was almost two and a half times the initial estimate by Japanese safety regulators, the operator of the crippled plant said in a report released on Thursday.

The operator, the Tokyo Electric Power Company, said the meltdowns it believes took place at three reactors at the Fukushima Daiichi plant released about 900,000 terabecquerels of radioactive substances into the air during March 2011. The accident, which followed an earthquake and a tsunami, occurred on March 11.

The latest estimate was based on measurements suggesting the amount of iodine-131 released by the nuclear accident was much larger than previous estimates, the utility said in the report. Iodine-131 is a fast-decaying radioactive substance produced by fission that takes place inside a nuclear reactor. It has a half-life of eight days and can cause thyroid cancer.

Alaskan crews gear up to tackle Japan tsunami debris

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (Reuters) - Cleanup workers will soon attack a jumble of debris from Japan's 2011 tsunami that litters an Alaskan island, as residents in the state gear up to scour their shores for everything from buoys to building material that has floated across the Pacific.

The cleansing project slated to start on Friday on Montague Island is expected to last a couple weeks, and organizers say it marks the first major project in Alaska to collect and dispose of debris from the tsunami.

The March 2011 tsunami, caused by a magnitude 9.0 earthquake, killed nearly 16,000 people and left over 3,000 missing on Japan's main island of Honshu, and precipitated a major radiation release at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant.

A U.S. senator has sought to obtain $45 million to tackle the problem, and officials have cited fears about invasive species and toxic substances thought to be among the floating mess of objects.

While debris from Japan is also floating toward other U.S. states along the West Coast, Alaska has a more extensive shoreline, much of it difficult to reach.

Bluefin tuna caught off the US coast have been found to contain radioactive material from Japan's quake-struck Fukushima nuclear plant, according to a new study.
5/29/12 Researchers found "modestly elevated levels" of two radioactive isotopes in 15 bluefin tuna caught off the coast of San Diego, California in August 2011, according to the study published online Monday by the Proceedings of the National Academy of Sciences (PNAS).

The researchers said the elevated radioactivity posed no risk to public health as the observed levels were more than an order of magnitude lower than the Japanese safety limit and were lower than other naturally present isotopes.
"We were quite surprised to find that bluefin carried both of these isotopes," co-author Nicholas Fisher, of New York's Stony Brook University, told CNN on Tuesday.

66-foot concrete dock washes ashore in Oregon, may be from 2011 Japan tsunami
June 6, 2012
A massive, 66-foot concrete dock mysteriously washed up on the Oregon shore this week. And officials are trying to figure out if the floating structure had traveled all the way from Japan after the March 2011 tsunami.
Local affiliate KATU reports that the dock has a placard with Japanese writing that they are attempting to translate. In addition, the station traced a phone number on the placard to a business located in Tokyo.

The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department sent a picture of the placard to the Japanese consulate in Portland for review.
"We don't know where it's from," said Chris Havel with the parks department. "We don't know if it's from Japan or not but we have to eliminate those possibilities as we go forward."

Even if the dock did travel thousands of miles to reach the shores of Oregon, it did not defy physics to get arrive there. While the structure is nearly 70 feet long, 7 feet tall and 19 feet wide and made of concrete and metal, it was also reportedly designed to float.
The dock was first spotted floating offshore but has now made its way to land. Kirk Tite was walking along the beach on Tuesday with his two sons and described the dock as a "massive hunk of concrete and metal covered in sea creatures." They also found a Japanese symbol and imprint on tires attached to the dock, although those could simply indicate that the tires themselves were made in Japan.

Tokyo stock market Hits 28-Year Low
4 Jun 2012  The Tokyo market slumped to a 28-year low on Monday as Asian shares dived on fears of a nightmare scenario of euro-zone breakup, U.S. economic relapse and a sharp slowdown in China.

Investors hedged against global financial and economic crisis, heading for havens such as the benchmark 10-year Japanese government bond whose yield fell below 0.80 percent to its lowest since July 2003. Ten-year JGB futures prices jumped to a 19-month high.

The FTSE CNBC Asia 100 Index [.FTFCNBCA  5547.13     -111.10  (-1.96%)], which measures markets across Asia, shed 2.1 percent.
Japan's shares fell sharply, with the broader Topix index hitting a 28-year low, as investors rushed to sell riskier assets on disappointing U.S. jobs data, deepening debt woes for the euro zone and slowing Chinese growth.

The more tech-heavy Nikkei index also slid and has now dropped 19 percent from a one-year high marked on March 27, flirting with a fall into bear market territory, often defined as a slide of 20 percent within two months.

Pacific Ocean Will Not Dilute Dumped Fukushima Radioactive Water, according to 1955 Government Report.
June  2012
Fukushima nuclear plant has been dumping a thousand tons of radioactive water into the Pacific ocean daily.
Most people assume that the ocean will dilute the radiation from Fukushima.
But ocean currents might carry more radiation to the West Coast of North America than is assumed.
The floating debris from Japan is now 2012 arriving in Hawaii, Washington, Oregon and California.  It is likely radioactive.
Seawater is radioactive
.

According to a previously secret 1955 memo from the U.S. Atomic Energy Commission regarding concerns of the British government over contaminated tuna,
“dissipation of radioactive fall-out in ocean waters is not a gradual spreading out of the activity from the region with the highest concentration to uncontaminated regions,
but that in all probability the process results in scattered pockets and streams of higher radioactive materials in the Pacific.

We can speculate that tuna which now show radioactivity from ingested materials [this is in 1955, not today] have been living, in or have passed through,
such pockets; or have been feeding on plant and animal life which has been exposed in those areas.”
Because of the huge amounts of radioactive water Tepco is dumping into the Pacific Ocean, and the fact that the current pushes waters
from Japan to the West Coast of North America, at least some of these radioactive “streams” or “hot spots” will likely end up impacting the West Coast.

Shocked  Exclamation     Japan says 2 nuclear reactors must be restarted to avert economic damage
June 8, 2012   BBC - Japan must restart two nuclear reactors to protect the country's economy and livelihoods,
Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda has said in a televised broadcast.
Measures to ensure the safety of two reactors at western Japan's Ohi nuclear plant have been undertaken, he said.

Since last year's Fukushima nuclear disaster, Japan's 50 reactors have been shut down for routine maintenance.
The crisis fuelled immense public opposition to nuclear power, but Japan is facing a summer of power shortages.
Japan's last nuclear shut down for routine maintenance in May. When the third reactor at the Tomari plant, in Hokkaido prefecture, was switched off, Japan was left without energy from atomic power for the first time for more than 40 years.

Public confidence in nuclear safety was shaken by the meltdowns at the Fukushima power plant, triggered by last year's devastating earthquake and tsunami.
"Cheap and stable electricity is vital. If all the reactors that previously provided 30% of Japan's electricity supply are halted, or kept idle, Japanese society cannot survive," Mr Noda said.
He added that some companies could possibly move production out of Japan, losing vital jobs as a result.

Quake of 6.4 magnitude strikes 72 miles off Japan
June 17, 2012  Reuters - A 6.4 magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan early on Monday, the U.S. Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of damage.
USGS put the quake 115 km (72 miles) southeast of Morioka on Japan's Pacific coast, and 31 km deep.
The Japan Meteorological Agency put it at magnitude 6.1, and slightly deeper at 40 km (25 miles).
The quake was rated only 4 on Japan's seven-point seismic scale, suggesting that no significant damage was expected, and no tsunami warning was issued.

Japan Restarts Fukushima Nuclear Reactor Amid Protests, crisis was man-made
July 5, 2012
 TOKYO   May have unplanned fireworks
Governments, regulatory authorities and Tokyo Electric Power lacked a sense of responsibility to protect people.
Nuclear power returned to Japan for the first time in 2 months.
An investigation blamed the government cozy relations with the industry for the meltdowns that prompted the mass shutdown of the reators.
Nuclear power returned to Japan's energy mix as the first reactor to be restarted since 2011 earthquake and tsunami came back online,
ending a nationwide shutdown that left the country without nuclear-generated electricity for the first time since 1970.
The reactor at a plant in Ohi, in western Japan, began generating power.
(One report said since 2011 another 2 months.  I dunno.)

DOOMSDAY
October 8, 2012
I have said before - the entire island of Japan is doomed.
Ground underneath Fukushima Unit 4 is sinking, 30 inches in some areas, in danger of collapse.
That nuke plant was built on top of the fill thats in the old bay. There were rumors after the monster quake that the tsunami had undercut the fill area, so it could be true.
They say if that particular reactor goes, all of Japan will need evacuating permanently.
If this is true, the spent rods once no longer in the cooling pool would burn, creating a cloud of Cesium radiation in the northern hemisphere similar to the doomsday device in Dr. Strangelove. Uninhabitable.

Fukushima children are radioactive
October 17th, 2012

We received hate mail for leaving.
I went back to try and help with the reconstruction.
Unfortunately, now I should probably paint myself yellow. I have a heavy dose of radioactive contamination myself.
I will be radioactive at least for the next 150 years. My children won’t be.

Unfortunately we can’t say that about [long pause], we can’t say that about my daughter’s and my son’s fellow students in their school.
We get letters quite regularly from them saying, “When are you coming back, it’s safe.”
Their parents are in denial. Who wouldn’t be? To live every day breathing that poison you’d have to be in denial. And my friends are, my family is over there.

Fukushima Unit 4 is Sinking - Unevenly
October 22, 2012
The spent fuel pool at Fukushima Unit 4 is the top short-term threat to humanity, and is a national security issue for America.
As such, it is disturbing news that the ground beneath unit 4 is sinking.
Specifically, Unit 4 sunk 36 inches right after the earthquake, and has sunk another 30 inches since then.
Moreover, Unit 4 is sinking unevenly, and the building may begin tilting.
An international coalition of nuclear scientists and non-profit groups are calling on the U.N. to coordinate a multi-national effort to stabilize the fuel pools. And see this.
Given the precarious situation at Unit 4, it is urgent that the world community pool its scientific resources to come up with a fix.

          Fukushima on Fire

Researcher claims explosions witnessed at Fukushima Reactor
I do not know the sources of this info, whether accurate, hyped, disinformation or lie, seems 50-50.
I DO KNOW the American sheepl are fed phony lies and trash in debates to entertain them while our destruction continues.
If you on Pacific side of mountains, quite a bit of radiation, past the mountains, less.

The blogs are active with claims that spent fuel pools at the Fukushima nuclear reactor have exploded, with radiation levels off the charts.
Major radiation cloud to hit west coast of USA before November.
I am calling this part true, part exaggeration, do not discount what is true.  There is probably some truth and some hype.
Fukushima spent fuel pools exploded, on fire, radiation levels spiking.

I believe ALL JAPAN a DEATH TRAP. They are NOT going to tell their people and neither will U.S. gov. That radiation has been polluting the Pacific and crossing by air and radiating the USA for 18 months. Read a bible and trust the Lord Jesus Christ Who is our ONLY HOPE.

Saturday Oct 20 Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yukio Edano confirmed there has been an explosion and radiation leakage at Tokyo Electric (TEPCO) Fukushima Daiichi nuclear power plant.
She declared a 10 km evacuation zone.
Japan earlier in the day warned of a meltdown at a reactor at the plant.

Oct 20 report claims Oct 18th explosion was due to a 3.9 earthquake which breached the walls containment system causing further meltdown of the fuel rods down to their plutonium cores. There is no steam effect when Plutonium hits the air, so do not expect to see any steam, its a vapor.

Who to trust?

Radiation Alert: Common Household Items We All Use Found to be Contaminated

Governments Have Raised Acceptable Radiation Levels Worldwide to Dupe the Populace

By Shepard Ambellas
theintelhub.com
October 14, 2012

A study by the Journal for Environmental Science and Technology details how dangerous radiation from Fukushima contacted the United States, especially in California “with the greatest exposure in central and southern California”.

In fact, the study determined that seaweed off the coast of California had been tested for radiation contamination and that radiation levels within the seaweed were 500% higher than safe levels.

You never know what might be contaminated with radiation these days as it is literally all over the world.

From nuclear bomb tests to failed nuclear reactors like Russia’s Chernobyl or Japan’s Fukushima Diachi power plant, radioactive isotopes are everywhere.

Some researchers have even found extremely high levels of Radiation in parts of the mainland US using a HEPA filter analysis method that tracks accumulative radiation.

A test of a HEPA air filter stationed in California recorded radiation levels at 351% and 538% above normal background levels.

The tests, conducted by the Enviroreporter, show levels much higher than normal background levels that are most likely coming from the Fukushima nuclear disaster.

It is clear that, despite a large scale misinformation campaign conducted by various governments and sock puppets throughout the internet, an increase in radiation has been seen in the United States after the Japan Fukushima nuclear disaster.

But what if ordinary household items that you use everyday are radiated and you just didn’t know it?

According to the CBSA, they have sustained an increase in radioactive packages coming from Asia since 2011. This is a red flag in the shipping world as not all ports have radiation detection and monitoring equipment.

Japan PM dissolves parliament, planning Dec. vote
11/16/12  TOKYO (AP) — Prime Minister Yoshihiko Noda dissolved the lower house of parliament Friday, paving the way for elections in which his ruling party will likely give way to a weak coalition government divided over how to solve Japan's myriad problems.
Noda followed through on a pledge to call elections after the opposition Liberal Democratic Party agreed to back several key pieces of legislation, including a deficit financing bill and electoral reforms. The Cabinet was expected to quickly announce elections for Dec. 16.

Noda's Democratic Party of Japan has grown unpopular thanks to its handling of the Fukushima nuclear crisis and especially its recent doubling of the sales tax. The elections will probably end its three-year hold on power.
The LDP, which led Japan for most of the post-World War II era, may win the most seats in the 480-seat lower house, though polls indicate it will fall far short of a majority. That could force it to cobble together a coalition of parties with differing policies and priorities.

A divided government could hinder decision-making as Japan wrestles with a two-decade economic slump, cleanup from last year's nuclear disaster, growing national debt and a rapidly aging population — not to mention a festering territorial dispute with China that is hurting business ties with its biggest trading partner. Japan must also decide whether it will follow through with plans to phase out nuclear power by 2040 — a move that many in the LDP oppose.

Russia Says World Is Nearing Currency War as Europe Joins
16 January 2012 The world is on the brink of a fresh “currency war,” Russia warned, as European policy makers joined Japan in bemoaning the economic cost of rising exchange rates.
“Japan is weakening the yen and other countries may follow,” Alexei Ulyukayev, first deputy chairman of Russia’s central bank, said at a conference today in Moscow.

The alert from the country that chairs the Group of 20 came as Luxembourg Prime Minister Jean-Claude Juncker complained of a “dangerously high” euro and officials in Norway and Sweden expressed exchange-rate concern.
The push for weaker currencies is being driven by a need to find new sources of economic growth as monetary and fiscal policies run out of room.

The risk is as each country tries to boost exports, it hurts the competitiveness of other economies and provokes retaliation.
Yesterday “will go down as the first day European policy makers fired a shot in the 2013 currency war,” said Chris Turner, head of foreign-exchange strategy at ING Groep NV in London.

Yen Rises as Officials Step Up Currency War Rhetoric
16 January 2014, by John Detrixhe & Joseph Ciolli (Bloomberg)
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/201...ency-war-rhetoric-rand-drops.html

Excerpt:

The yen strengthened against the dollar for a second day after its 5.7% drop over the past month prompted criticism from leaders around the world that recent exchange-rate moves have been excessive.

Japan’s currency pared gains as risk appetite improved and stocks erased losses.

The yen rose earlier after touching a 30- month low on Jan. 14 as the nation’s policy makers moved to boost inflation and spur growth.

A gauge of volatility increased to a four-month high as Russia’s central bank said the world’s leading economies are on the brink of a “currency war.”

South Africa’s rand rose from the weakest level this year.

“You’re waiting for the next piece of news to push the yen above the 90 level,” Fabian Eliasson, vice president of corporate foreign-exchange sales at Mizuho Financial Group Inc. in New York, said in a telephone interview.

“A lot of the inflation target of 2% and the previous intervention has already been priced into the market.”

The yen advanced 0.3% to 88.51 per dollar at 2:37 p.m. New York time, following a 0.8% jump yesterday.

It gained as much as 1.1% earlier today.

The Japanese currency reached 89.67 on Jan. 14, the weakest level since June 2010.

It gained 0.4% today to 117.65 per euro after reaching 120.13 on Jan. 14, the weakest since May 2011.

The shared currency depreciated 0.1% to $1.3291 after touching $1.3404 on Jan. 14, the highest since Feb. 29.

Implied volatility climbed.

JPMorgan Chase & Co.’s G7 Volatility Index, based on three-month options on Group of Seven nations’ currencies, reached 8.53%, the most since Sept. 6.

It fell to 7.06 on Dec. 18, the lowest since August 2007.

The Standard & Poor’s 500 Index was little changed after falling earlier as much as 0.3%.

Let's play global currency wars

Japan is leading the way as nations look to boost exports by devaluing their currencies. Here's how investors can profit from this battle.
2/8/13  The decision of the new government of Prime Minister Shinzo Abe in Japan to weaken the yen against the world's other currencies has set off a new round of warnings about a global currency war.

The warning echoes cries from Brazil in 2011 as a steady appreciation of the real against the currencies of trading partners such as China devastated Brazil's manufacturers. This time, remarks like these from the perpetually understated German Chancellor Angela Merkel have raised a red flag: "I do not want to say that I can look at Japan at the moment without any concern," she said at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, last month.

But what is most interesting to me as an investor is that although some countries have decided to fight these wars tooth and nail, others have decided to sit them out. I think that creates a clear divide between countries like Japan that have decided to play for the short term and those such as Singapore that see a clear long-term advantage to not fighting in the short-term war.
And I think your portfolio should reflect that division of the world into short-term currency war combatants and long-term noncombatants. I'll have picks for you from both categories later in this column.

You can certainly understand why Japan's government wants to fight the short-term currency battle.
In the last part of 2008, the yen traded at 109.89 to the U.S. dollar, making Japanese exports relatively cheap for overseas consumers. That increased the competitive edge of Japanese exporters such as Toyota Motor (TM -0.04%, news) and Canon (CAJ +0.60%, news) and increased the profits of any company that sold outside of Japan and then translated those sales from dollars or euros into a cheaper yen. The exchange rate was especially valuable to companies such as Mazda Motor (MZDAY +3.56%, news) -- which trades as 7261.JP in Tokyo -- and Fuji Heavy Industries (FUJHY +0.07%, news) -- which trades as 7270.JP -- that did most of their manufacturing in Japan and that therefore got the biggest benefit from a cheap yen. (Mazda now manufactures 71% of its vehicles in Japan. Fuji Heavy, the maker of Subaru, does 75% of its manufacturing there.)

But as the yen climbed from near 110 to the dollar at the end of 2008 to 76 to the dollar at the end of 2012, Japanese exporters took a beating. (Remember that since the yen/dollar exchange rate is usually cited as yen to the dollar, the higher the number, the cheaper the yen.) Credit Suisse calculates that the higher yen has cost Japanese automakers 3.68 trillion yen (roughly $40 billion at 90 yen to the dollar) in the five years that ended March 2012.

In response to a more expensive yen, Japanese manufacturers moved jobs from Japan to lower-cost countries such as China, Thailand, Mexico and the United States, in an echo of the hollowing-out we've seen in U.S. manufacturing. As a result, in December 2012, the number of manufacturing jobs in Japan fell below 10 million for the first time since 1961.

No wonder, then, that in the run-up to the December elections for the lower house of parliament, the emphasis was on how to revive the Japanese economy -- and quickly. The country had slipped back into recession, with a 3.5% annualized drop in gross domestic product in the third quarter (following on a revised 0.1% drop in the second quarter). The quickest way to get the job done, Liberal Democratic Party leader Abe argued, was a massive program of bond buying by the Bank of Japan focused on the purchase of foreign securities that would drive down the price of the yen.

With currency markets anticipating what turned out to be an Abe victory in December, the yen began to fall even before the votes were cast. The currency has dropped by 14% against the dollar in the past three months, according to Bloomberg.

And you can already see the short-term effects on Japanese exporters. On Feb. 5, Toyota raised its earnings projections for the fiscal year that ends in March by 10%. On Feb. 6, Mazda doubled its earnings forecast for the fiscal year that ends in March. The shares of Japanese exporters have soared. Shares of Toyota were up 34% from the Nov. 11 low as of Feb. 6. Shares of Mazda were up 248% from their Oct. 30 low. (And I think they have further to run, which is why I added Toyota to my Jubak's Picks portfolio. In raising its earnings forecast for fiscal 2013, the company increased its assumption on the value of the yen to 81 to the dollar from 79 to the dollar. The yen traded at 93 to the dollar on Feb. 7, and I expect the currency to weaken further to 100 to the dollar in calendar 2013.

But as effective as a weaker yen might be in the short term in increasing exports by Japan-based manufacturers and at increasing the profits at these companies, it does nothing to address the structural problems in Japan's economy or the country's long-term demographic challenge.

Japan remains trapped in a deflationary psychology that makes Japanese companies and consumers reluctant to spend. Since everything will be cheaper tomorrow (in yen terms), why buy anything? Since demand is falling, why expand production or capital spending? Japan has an extraordinary level of government debt (240% of GDP), but the country still has a high savings rate (1.9% in 2013, according to projections by the Organisation for Economic Co-Operation and Development), considering years of recession, high (for Japan) unemployment and minuscule interest rates on deposits and government bonds.

Much of Japan's government spending in stimulus packages is politically allocated and has done little to add to real economic growth. The politically powerful countryside still gets more than its share of government outlays. An aging population requires an ever-bigger share of the government budget. A falling population of young workers and restrictive policies on immigration mean an aging, smaller workforce.

And I'd have to question how long Japan's consumers and any businesses that rely on imported inputs will put up with the pain caused by a falling yen. Japan imports almost all of its energy in commodities priced in dollars. In 2012, energy costs rose 10%. And that's before the yen recorded the major share of its recent decline.

That's only the beginning of the long-term costs of a weak-yen policy. A falling currency will eventually push up inflation (which, in the face of Japan's current deflation, would be good) and interest rates (which, given Japan's huge accumulated deficit and need to finance current spending with debt, would be bad). It increases the costs of financing for Japanese companies and it can, by giving companies an earnings crutch, reduce the chances that Japanese companies will restructure to assure continued global competitiveness. And a weak yen will further diminish the standing of Tokyo as a global financial center. In the competition with Hong Kong, Shanghai and Singapore, the decreased political independence of the Bank of Japan is a negative.
For Japan's new government, the balance of short-term pluses and long-term minuses comes down on the side of a weaker yen. Japan will be an aggressor in the global currency wars.
