Iran threatens to invade Pakistan
October 19, 2009
-  The commander of Iran's Revolutionary Guards (IRGC) Maj. Gen. Mohammad Ali Jafary threatened crushing retaliation against the US, UK and Pakistan including the invasion of Pakistan. Tehran links all 3 to the suicide bombing attack Oct. 18 which killed 42 people including 7 senior Guards officers.  One of those killed was Gen. Shoustari, commander of terror bases in Iraq, Pakistan, Lebanon and Gaza.  This the first time an Iranian military leader has threatened to strike US and British targets.

IRAN, SYRIA and Lebanon plan war on ISRAEL
May, 2010
-  In the Prophetic News Newsletter there is a article telling about Iran's VP making the bold statement,
"If Israel attacks Syria or any friends we will cut off their feet."
The Presidents of Egypt and Jordan both have spoke of a war coming this summer.

I get the strange feeling the visit to Syria by Irans VP was a call to assure Syria that Iran would be backing them when they attack Israel,
plus another reason was some strong arm twisting to make sure Syria was going to do everything Iran demands,
even if it means Damascus being wiped off the face of this earth and never being a country again.

GODS word speaks of this and as much as I would like to see Israel ram a nuke down the mouth of Irans president,
that is not going to happen because Iran, who is Persia will march along side Russia when the Bear from the Norh invades Israel.

At this time Iran will be given the punishment that is fitting for their actions and words aainst Israel and the Jewsih people.

I believe Israel will hit Iran hard in the coming war, but not hard enough to destabilize her.
Iran as the coward she is will go and hide as cowards do, lick their wounds and wait on Russia to come and lead them to a great victory over the Zionist Nation,
but in their dreams only. GOD is going to rock their world and bring them down to earth again after HE lets some air out of their big head, by destroying 2/3rds of their army.

The amount is a total of all who come against Israel, but you can bet GOD has a special whooping awaiting on Iran and others who have tormented the Jewish Nation and it's people all these years.

I do not see Syria wanting to go to war with Israel.
Syria and her Generals know what Isrel is able to do. Israel shot down 72 of their planes within two day of the war in Lebanon in 1982.

I hope the year is correct, forgive me if I am wrong.
Syria is backed into a corner by Iran and mabe even Russia.
Iran has forced her to give up those heavy weapons and missiles to Hezballah and this has caused
Syria to come under the eye of Israel and the world, plus the fact that bunch of nuts now have the capibilites to strike against Syria also.

When it starts Syria will have to fight or become the laughing stock of the arab world.
Things have been going on over there that the news is not reporting or know anything about, but you can bet all sides are gearing up for a war that will effect the whole world.

I am so glad GOD allowed me to be born in a Nation that loved HIM and HIS SON JESUS CHRIST.

It is sad to know the once great Nation has turned against GOD.
I often shudder thinking how bad it would be to have been born in a country that denys GOD or one that does not beleive in JESUS CHRIST.

It is also sad to have watched this great Nation turn against GOD and JESUS CHRIST and turn to worshipping sin, wealth, sex, porn,
homosexuals, falling away from GOD, the Church doing things unGODLY, allowing Homosexuals in the Pulpit, same sex marrages,
allowing TV's in to watch the Super Bowl and the playing of Bingo, all the while eating and drinking in GODS house and having a good old time.

I rememebr growing up the only time food was allowed in Church was the need to feed a baby or at CHRISTmas when they handed out bags of candy, apples and oranges.

Women never wore pants or shorts to Church, they all wore dress'es. The preacher preached as long as GOD spoke through him and he never was threatened for telling about Heaven and Hell.

The preacher was respected as was the Deacons, the widows and orphans were helped and taken care of,
if memebrs were sick or hurt bills were paid until they got back on their feet, the elderly were respected and looked after.
Yes my friends, that was the times when GOD was feared, loved and respected. Unlike today!

I will be glad to see my LORD, MY FATHER, My KING and My SAVIOUR!
I will no longer have to watch the abuse and disrespect of my GOD and My SAVIOUR when that day comes.

I do love GOD and JESUS CHRIST and I am proud of THEM BOTH and I do not care what anyone thinks of me or feels about me for Loving THEM BOTH!!

Praise be to GOD and JESUS CHRIST!

Thank GOD for folks like CJ and all of you who read and write at this site and all who pray for America and all of our men and women in the Military and their families.

I love you all. Please keep my family and I in your prayers!
May GOD bless and watch over all of you and your families and through GODS love may HE keep all of you safe and well everyday and bring you all through any storm that might arise in your life, both ntural and man made.
I ask this in the name Of JESUS CHRIST! Amen!

Iran has new anti-cruise missile weapon, helicopter

Iran has new anti-cruise missile weapon, Cobra-type helicopter
May 5, 2010
The development of the "Mesbah 1" (Lantern), a new air defence system for countering aircraft, cruise missiles, choppers and
other low-altitude threats, was announced by Iran's defence minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi Wednesday, May 5.
It will go into operation in the near future.

If Iran has indeed designed a weapon of this type and quality, it has come up with a powerful answer to US and Israeli cruise missiles,
which pose the biggest threat to Iran's nuclear facilities in a military strike.
Vahidi boasted that the Mesbah can fire 4,000 shots a minute, is very precise and can be operated by a smaller crew than similar artillery systems.
He claimed it was also effective in tracing and shooting down unmanned aerial vehicles - drones.

The Iranian Air force is also reported to have received 10 new "Toofan" (Storm) attack helicopters based on the Bell AH-1K Sea Cobra design.
After studying photographs, Western military sources reported the Iranian version has been heavily upgraded compared with the original.
It has a narrower airframe for greater flexibility and is armed with M197 3-barrelled 20-mm "Gatling-type" cannon in the A/A49E turret.
Its wing-stub stations carry a pair of 19-tube 70-mm rocket launchers.
The rear section has a Vulcan-type 20-mm automatic cannon, and two clusters of 38 anti-tank 70-mm missiles.

Bullet-proof glass protects the pilot's cockpit and weapons officer station, internal avionics have been revamped with the addition of a GPS and receiver in the nose,
and a warning radar attached to the rear, with four antennae providing 360 degrees coverage and all electronics systems integrated.

Iranian Air Force's Badr Base for light aircraft and helicopters in Esfahan, central Iran,
accommodates 1,000 aerial military vehicles of different types, and is the biggest air base of its kind in the Middle East and Southwest Asia.

Iran-built Hamas command centers in Gaza
January 10, 2011
Iran is in control in the Gaza Strip and in Lebanon, and plans war on Israel.
The Israeli air strikes in Gaza were systematic missions to start destroying the new Hamas underground command centers which Iranian engineers are building.
This is Iran's punishment for the attacks on its nuclear scientists and installations.

Hamas leaders tried to stop Iranian missile attacks on Israel, as it depleted the resources needed for a major showdown with Israel.
Iran has been laying a network of command centers across Gaza, and the IAF struck them.

Iran builds nuclear-capable cruise missile

                Iran builds nuclear-capable cruise missile
May 11, 2010
 Iran's new KH-55 cruise missile
"This is an extremely serious threat to Israel," Yair Shamir, chairman of Israel's Aerospace Industries warned in a lecture, naming the new weapon as the
KH-55 cruise missile, based on a model Tehran received from Ukraine in 2006 and upgraded - together with an air-launched version.

"The pace of missile development (in Iran) is much faster that that of the solutions," Shamir said.
"The new element is that Iran is already in space" - an intimation that its activities in space were a key element in accelerating Tehran's missile program.

Shamir rarely talks in public on security matters. debkafile's military sources report he apparently found it necessary to speak out in view of the defense minister Ehud Barak's soothing assessments,
his efforts to downplay the peril from Tehran and denials that Iran had become an existential threat to Israel.

The defense minister was also challenged by President Shimon Peres who, speaking in Moscow Monday, May 11,
cautioned against nonchalance in the face of the threats to destroy Israel, which came mainly from Tehran.

(He also noted that no ruler but Syria's Bashar Assad would try to pretend that missiles for Hizballah were harbingers of peace.)
Shamir's was the first authoritative voice to verify Iran's possession of a nuclear-capable, long-range-missile capable of striking Israel without leaving its own airspace.
The rumors of its acquisition circulating for some years had been treated with some skepticism. Now, Western sources confirm that Ukraine did indeed sell Iran a dozen

KH-55 missiles capable of carrying conventional or nuclear warheads,
but they are not sure if the warheads were part of the consignment or just the diagrams and instructions on how to fit them.

The Israeli aerospace expert disclosed that Iranian scientists are working on lengthening the cruise missile's range beyond its regular 2.500 kilometers and developing a version for the use of fighter bombers.
This would enable Iranian warplanes to shoot missiles against targets not only in Israel but as far away as Central Europe, without leaving their own airspace and risking exposure to American or Israeli air attack.

Iran Dumps the U.S. Dollar
RUMOR in Sept 2009
When Iraq went to the Euro, they were attacked by George W. Bush (43).
Bush flew onto an aircraft carrier and declared victory in that war,
on the day that Iraq went back to the US dollar for oil transactions.
Iran Dumps the Dollar, switches to Euro.  On September 12, 2009 Iranian President Achmedinejad issued an
edict to sell oil and do other business priced in euros instead of dollars. This creates greater demand for euros
and decreases demand for dollars, which will push down the value of the dollar.

Obama lifts ban on Russian S-300s for Iran

Obama lifts ban on Russian S-300s for Iran
Blows hole in Israeli security
May 22, 2010
Israel's security suffered a major setback on the eve of its homeland war-safety exercise (starting Sunday, May 23) from
3 Obama administration concessions that were granted to buy Moscow's backing for UN Security Council sanctions against Iran.
One was the deletion of an embargo on sophisticated weaponry, including the suspended sale of Russian S-300 systems sought by Tehran for shooting down any US or Israel warplanes attacking its nuclear sites.

As Israel prepared to drill millions of the country's civilians to prepare for synchronized assault by hundreds of rockets and missiles from
Iran, Syria, Lebanon and the Gaza Strip, Washington awarded Moscow, i.e. Tehran, three additional gains.
US officials indicated they did not rule out a new round of nuclear negotiations with Tehran - even after the Brazilian-Turkish-mediated enriched uranium deal signed with Iran last Monday, May 17.

And on Friday, May 21, the administration scrapped sanctions against the Russian state arms export agency and 3 other Russian entities that were penalized in the past for transferring sensitive technology or weapons to Iran.
Also lifted were sanctions against a fourth Russian entity for illicit arms sales to Syria, including technology for developing the very missiles against which Israel's five-day exercise is preparing the public next week.

Our Washington sources report that the Obama administration bought Russia's backing for a weak UN sanctions resolution by giving way on penalties detrimental to Iran's economy or impeding its nuclear program.
America thus opened the door for Russia to start training Iranian S-300 missile crews - without Israeli raising its voice in protest in either capital.
(On May 19, debkafile disclosed for the first time that these crews were already in training at Russian military bases.)

Tzachi Hanegbi, chairman of the Knesset foreign affairs and security committee, reaffirmed in a TV Channel One interview Friday night that a nuclear-armed Iran would imperil Israel's very existence.
He, like many other Israelis in official positions, strongly gainsays assertions to the contrary by defense minister Ehud Barak.

Saturday, after the new US concessions came to light, administration officials tried to allay criticism in Congress by claiming that Moscow had
improved its performance on Iran and would stand by its understanding with Washington not to proceed with the S-300 sale.
However, the training of Iranian operating crews looks more like bringing the sale forward than holding it back.

debkafile's Iranian sources point out that in five short days - since accepting the Brazilian-Turkish uranium swap deal - Tehran has substantially enhanced its international and strategic position in four critical areas:

1. Tough UN sanctions are off the table, leaving individual governments the freedom to proceed, or not, with unilateral penalties against Iran's nuclear violations.

2.  The heavily-diluted UN draft omits any mention of energy bans, such the refined oil products, a provision formerly advocated by Washington as the most effective means of forcing Iran to abandon its drive for a nuclear weapon.

3.  Not only has the notion of a sea blockade gone by the board, but heavy restrictions are clamped down on searches of vessels
suspected of carrying contraband military or nuclear cargoes, for which permission must now be requested by the nation flagged.
This allows Iran and Syria to safely import nuclear materials and missiles by sea without fear of interception.
Even before the haggling begins, therefore, the new "sanctions" draft before the UN Security Council scarcely answers to its description.

4.  The Obama administration's inclination to treat the new uranium exchange deal brokered by Brazil and Turkey as the Six-Power Group's springboard for
bringing Tehran back to the negotiating table offers Iran the gift of more time and space to achieve its ultimate objective of a nuclear weapon.

Military sources point out that Washington's uneven and inconsistent approach to Iran and Syria make naught of the protestations made by
Obama and other US officials of their unshakeable commitment to Israel's security.
The unhindered delivery of S-300 missiles to Iran, like the latest Russian arms deal with Syria, substantially offsets Israel's capacity to deter its enemies.
Not only are its air force pilots placed in harm's way; so too is the country's entire population.

Syria has 1,000 ballistic missiles zeroed on Israeli targets

U.S. Makes Concessions to Russia for Iran Sanctions
May 21, 2010
As it sought support for international sanctions on Iran, the Obama administration gave Moscow two concessions:
lifting American sanctions against the Russian military complex and agreeing not to ban the sale of Russian anti-aircraft batteries to Tehran.
http://www.nytimes.com/2010/05/22/world/22sanctions.html

Syria has 1,000 ballistic missiles zeroed on Israeli targets
May 26, 2010
A colossal Iran-funded and directed armament program has enabled Syria to field 1,000 ballistic missiles and Hizballah 1,000 rockets -
all pointed at specific Israeli military and civilian locations, including the densely populated conurbation around Tel Aviv, debkafile's military sources reveal.

Syria has smuggled most of its stock of liquid-fuel powered ballistic missiles over to Hizballah in Lebanon,
while its own production lines have been working day and night for five months to upgrade its stock solid fuel-propelled missiles,
so improving their accuracy.
North Korean military engineers and technicians are employed on those production lines.

According to Western military sources, a command center for coordinating a missile offensive against military and civilian targets in Israel has been operating at
Syrian general staff headquarters in Damascus since early March with the help of Iranian, Syrian, Hizballah and Hamas liaison officers.

The command center, operating under direct Iranian command, was formally established at a gala banquet attended by
Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Syrian President Bashar Assad, and Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah in Damascus on February 25.
Its primary mission was defined as "target unification" - military lingo for interaction at the command level to make sure that Tehran, Damascus,
Beirut and Gaza do not send short-range missiles flying toward the same Israeli target at the same time.

Each of the four has been assigned one of four Israeli sectors and given specialist training in its features.

The new joint command gave Hizballah secretary-general Hassan Nasrallah the confidence to sneer at Israel's five-day, countrywide home front missile defense exercise, which ends Thursday, May 27.

In a speech on Tuesday, May 25, he said: 'Israel wants to reassure its people and make them feel strong and properly prepared to stand up to all possible war situations.
But this assurance is false.
So carry on with your drills," he said, "but when the rockets start falling on the occupied territories, we'll soon see how much good they are."

The command center's central strategy, say our military sources, is to eliminate the Israel Air Force's edge by releasing a
simultaneous deluge of missiles and rockets from hundreds of stationary and mobile launching sites in remote parts of Syria, Lebanon, Iran and the Gaza Strip.

Most of the projectiles in the Syrian, Hizballah and Hamas arsenals are propelled by liquid fuel and therefore take 50 minutes to 1 hour to load and loose at assigned targets.
During this time gap, they are vulnerable to air attack. As a bridging device, western intelligence sources believe the joint command in Damascus plans to
attack Israel with synchronized missile fire from Iran and Syria during the time Israeli warplanes are hammering, say, Hizballah batteries in Lebanon.
The thinking in Tehran and Damascus is that the Israeli Air Force will find it hard to tackle three or four fronts simultaneously.

Tehran and Damascus are therefore building air shields around their missile bases and launching sites,
for which purpose Assad asked Russian President Dmitry Medvedev to speed up the delivery of the advanced Russian Pantsir anti-aircraft missiles when the latter visited Damascus on May.
Medvedev promised to accede to this request.

debkafile's military sources recall that the same Russian Pantsir missiles were ineffective in preventing the September 2007 air strike, by which Israel destroyed the North Korean plutonium reactor financed by Tehran at Al-Azur in northern Syria.

Syrian ballistic missiles on standby with new target updates

Syrian ballistic missiles on standby with new target updates

May 27, 2010   Syrian missiles on the move

The night before Israel's exercise for defending the home front against missile attack entered its fifth and last day on Thursday, May 27, the Syrian Chief of Staff placed all
Syrian military units on standby, followed in the morning by a second directive for missile units to go on a war footing and take up firing positions.
Reporting this, debkafile's military sources disclose that missile battery commanders were given "target updates," meaning new Israeli targets for attack.

Western intelligence sources report that Wednesday night, long military convoys carrying mobile missiles were sighted rolling down Syrian highways - especial in the North.

In Athens, Greek military sources announced a joint Israeli-Greek naval and air force two-day exercise beginning next Tuesday, June 1, over the mainland and the Aegean and Ionian Seas.
Exercise Minoas 2010 would serve Israeli Air Force F16s and F15s (five each) for drilling long-range flights covering roughly the same distance as between Israel and Iran and
new in-flight refueling methods using Israeli KC-807 flying fuel tankers. Greece will deploy 15 F16s.

With all parties on the move, including the boosting of Lebanese army units on the Israeli border, the war tensions swirling around Israel's northern borders show no signs of early dissipation.

Two years ago, 100 Israeli Air Force bombers of different types covered the distance between Israel and Greece and back to demonstrate that Iran and its nuclear sites were within reach.
Then, Athens permitted Israeli jets to practice strikes against the Greek Army's sophisticated S-300 interceptor missiles of the type Iran expects to procure from Russia.
The same drill may be repeated in the coming joint maneuver.

Across the border the just-boosted Lebanese army units practiced firing anti-air missiles and other weapons against Israeli warplanes near the village of Kuzah in southern Lebanon.

They also report that, back in March, Iran, Syria, Hizballah and Hamas prepared for the current war escalation by
setting up a joint staff center for coordinating their missile and rocket attacks on Israeli military and civilian locations.
The center which is staffed with liaison officers of the four participants was installed at Syrian Military General Headquarters in Damascus.

As debkafile reported May 26, a colossal Iran-funded and directed armament program has permitted Syria to field
1,000 ballistic missiles and Hizballah 1,000 rockets -
all pointed at specific Israeli military and civilian locations, including the densely populated conurbation around Tel Aviv.

Syria arming Hezbollah from secret bases

Syria arming Hellzbollah from secret bases
May 28, 2010
Ssatellite images reveal Shiite organization 'allowed to operate freely' at secret compound in Syrian town of Adra, from which missiles are sent to Lebanon.
Intelligence sources say ongoing smuggling increases chances of Israeli strike
The chances that Israel may send a "calibrated signal" to Hezbollah and Syria by launching a precise airstrike against a weapons convoy are increasing,
the British Times reported on Friday, following reports of Israeli plans to bomb a Syrian arms convey as it crossed the border into Lebanon.
The Israeli strike was reportedly called off at the last minute.

Friday's report covered tensions in the region, and citied satellite images of secret arms depots in Syria, in which surface-to-surface missiles destined for Hezbollah are stored.
According to the report, the Times has been shown images of one such site, located in a compound near the town of Adra, northeast of Damascus.
The site reportedly includes living quarters for Hezbollah fighters, arms sheds and a fleet of trucks used for transferring weapons.
The facility is believed to be one of several used as a base for weapons deliveries.

“Hezbollah is allowed to operate this site freely,” a security source told the paper. “They often move the arms in bad weather when Israeli satellites are unable to track them.”
The weapons in question are either of Syrian origin, or are delivered from Iran by sea or by air.

It was recently reported that Syria transferred Scud missiles to the Shiite organization. The Times report claims that only two
missiles were transferred, which American and Israeli intelligence sources believe have been stored in underground bunkers in the Bekaa Valley.
In light of the tight surveillance, one source said that Hezbollah may be considering returning the missiles.

Earlier this month, Yossi Baidatz, head of the Israeli Military Intelligence research department, said the recent transfer of arms to Hezbollah was just the "tip of the iceberg," and the Times reported that
the M-600 missiles Hezbollah posses grant the organization unprecedented accuracy that threatens strategic facilities inside Israel.
Syrian diplomat: Our bases nobody's business

After the Israeli strike on one of the arms convoys was called off, reportedly around the time of Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah's visit to Damascus along with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad,
Israel depended on American diplomatic efforts to put an end to the deliveries.
But according to Western intelligence sources, the failure of these efforts increase the chances of a targeted Israeli attack against a weapons warehouse or delivery.

John Kerry, head of the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, visited Damascus several times in recent months, and reportedly urged Syrian President Bashar Assad to halt the flow or weapons to Lebanon.
Syrian president is "flat out lying" about the weapons transfer to Hezbollah.

Syria insists that all their bases are exclusive to the Syrian military. Jihad Makdissi, the spokesman for the Syrian Embassy in London said,
“Syria and Israel remain in a state of war as long as Israel refuses to implement UNSC (United Nations Security Council) resolutions to end the occupation of Arab lands;
therefore if these military depots really exist it would be for the exclusive use of the Syrian Army to defend Syrian soil, and it is definitely nobody’s business,” he said.

Iranian troops cross Iraq border

KURDISTAN  *  Iran troops cross Iraq border
June 6, 2010    A senior Kurdish official in northern Iraq says Iranian troops have crossed the Iraqi border in pursuit of Iranian Kurdish rebels.
Jabar Yawar, a deputy minister in the Kurdish autonomous region in northern Iraq, said Saturday that 35 Iranian soldiers remain in the Iraqi village of Perdunaz after crossing the border last Thursday.

Yawar said the Iranian troops have ventured about a mile (1.6 kilometers) into Iraq. Perdunaz is an Iraqi border town east of the Kurdish capital of Irbil.
He said Iranian troops have been shelling the region for days in pursuit of a Kurdish rebel group known as the Party for Free Life in Kurdistan, or PEJAK. Iran has previously targeted the border areas in pursuit of PEJAK fighters.
Iraq's Defense Ministry declined comment.

Gunmen killed a third candidate Saturday from the Sunni-backed coalition that won the most seats in Iraq's March parliamentary election, a slaying that the alliance said was part of a politically motivated campaign of assassinations.

Gunmen broke into Faris Jassim al-Jubouri's house in a village about 20 miles (35 kilometers) west of the northern city of Mosul at dawn and shot him multiple times, according to police and a morgue official. They spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak publicly about the killing.

"This assassination is part of series of assassinations targeting members of the Iraqiya list, definitely for political reasons," said party spokeswoman Maysoun Damlouji. "The Iraqiya list does not want to escalate the situation, but we won't sit silent over the killing of any Iraqi."

The secular Iraqiya coalition, headed by former Prime Minister Ayad Allawi, has been at the center of a political showdown over the March 7 parliamentary election, which did not produce a clear winner. Iraqiya's rivals in two religious Shiite political blocs are trying to outmaneuver it to form the next government.

Iraqiya won just two more parliamentary seats than its closest rivals, led by Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki. Iraqiya's slim lead was largely thanks to Allawi's outreach to Iraq's disaffected Sunni minority, which lost its political dominance with Saddam Hussein's 2003 ouster.
If they are left out of the next government, Sunnis could feel further alienated and violence directed at the government and security forces could increase, just as U.S. forces are preparing for substantial troop withdrawals.

Al-Jubouri had not been expected to take a seat in the new parliament because Iraqiya failed to win enough votes.
He was the third Allawi-linked candidate to be gunned down in and around Mosul in recent months.

On May 24, gunmen firing from a car killed newly elected candidate Bashar Mohammed Hamid Ahmed as he was on his way home. He was the first new lawmaker killed since the election.
A female Iraqiya candidate, Suha Jarallah, was shot and killed in Mosul before the vote in early February.

Iranian ships won't reach Gaza

Iranian ships won't reach Gaza
June 08, 2010
Israel said on Monday it would not let Iranian ships sail to Gaza after the Iranian Red Crescent announced it would send two vessels to the region in the coming week.
“If we didn’t let an Irish ship reach Gaza, we are certainly not going to let Iranian ships pass,” one diplomatic official said.
The official added that it was not yet clear how serious the Iranian threat was, and that there was often “a lot of bluster” coming out of Teheran.

“The Iranian regime has called for Israel to be wiped off the map and has a proven track record of supplying dangerous weapons to Hamas and Hizbullah,” the official said. “Obviously, any shipment from Iran to Gaza would be a major concern.”
Abdolrauf Adibzadeh, the Iranian Red Crescent director for international affairs, told a French news agency: “One ship will carry donations made by the people and the other will carry relief workers.

The ships will be sent to Gaza by end of this week.” The decision to send aid ships came a day after Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei suggested that the Revolutionary Guards could be sent to protect ships trying to break the Gaza blockade.
"We cannot take a chance that there is weaponry on the ships."

Diplomatic officials in Jerusalem said such a move would pose a challenge not only to Israel, but also to Egypt, which could not be pleased at the prospect of the Revolutionary Guard sailing through the Suez Canal.

Defense officials said Israel would not allow the ships to reach Gaza.
“Iran is Hamas’s main supplier of weaponry,” one official said. “We cannot take a chance that there is weaponry on the ships.” This would not be the first time Iran sent ships to test Israel’s blockade of Gaza. In January 2009, during Operation Cast Lead, an Iranian ship was dispatched with what was claimed to be humanitarian cargo. While Israeli soldiers never boarded the vessel, the navy preventing it from reaching its destination by blocking sailing lanes into Gaza Port.

Also on Monday, Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan continued to lambaste Israel, saying during a press conference in Istanbul with Syrian President Bashar Assad that last week’s raid on the flotilla had been a violation of international law and human values. He also urged Israel to accept an international probe into the raid.

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu met on Monday, for the second time in two days, with his inner cabinet, a forum known as the septet, and discussed the type of probe that would be set up to look into the raid on the Mavi Marmara last week.

Israeli investigation may be established with foreign observers
Although the Prime Minister’s Office made no official announcement, it is widely believed that the ministers agreed to the establishment of an Israeli investigative committee – and not a wider government commission of inquiry – with the participation of two foreign observers, one American and one from an unnamed country.

It is not clear who will lead the probe, but one name being prominently mentioned is law professor Ruth Lapidot. The panel is expected to question the political echelon and senior military officials, but not the soldiers who took part in the raid.
It is also expected to look at the legality of the naval blockade on Gaza, and the legality and manner in which Israel prevented the flotilla from reaching Gaza.

In the midst of a debate on the matter, President Shimon Peres reportedly told Netanyahu during a meeting on Monday that if he wanted to prevent further international isolation of Israel, moving forward on the peace process with the Palestinians would be more important than the establishment of a flotilla probe.

Jerusalem is also discussing the framework of the probe with Washington, to ensure the committee meets US requirements. The State Department stressed that it expected Israel to fulfill the obligations for a credible investigation laid out last week, though officials declined to address specific configurations.

“We expect the Israeli government to conduct a prompt, impartial, credible and transparent investigation conforming to international standards that gets to all the facts surrounding this tragic incident,” one State Department official said.

The official reiterated the US position that Washington was “open to different ways of assuring a credible investigation, including international participation,” without specifying which arrangement was preferred.
“We will continue to discuss these ideas with the Israelis and our international partners in the days ahead,” the official said.
“This is a very difficult situation that requires careful, thoughtful responses from all concerned.”

Israeli probe unlikely to suffice for Erdogan
The type of probe being formulated in Jerusalem is unlikely to suffice for Turkey’s Erdogan, however, who on Monday said: “If there is hatred, it is Israel’s hatred. If there is terror, it is Israel’s state terrorism.” With Assad at his side, Erdogan said Israel should “look in the mirror” for the perpetrators of terrorism, and called on the United States to “protect the honor of its own citizen.” This was in reference to one of the nine men killed on the boat, who was a dual US Turkish national living in Turkey.

In response to a question about the five Mavi Marmara activists listed by Israel as having ties to terrorist organizations, Erdogan said: “If there were any terrorists, then why were they set free?” Israel decided not to prosecute those who had been on the ships, but rather to deport them, in an effort to limit the diplomatic fallout.

Assad said the blockade of Gaza must end.
“This embargo, this blockade must be lifted, and at the same time Israeli must be placed in a cage of crime,” the Syrian president said. “It must be placed under quarantine so that it cannot spread disease to anybody.” Erdogan strongly urged Hamas and Fatah to quickly reconcile their differences at a time when Palestinian unity was of utmost importance.

“Hamas has given its consent to us to broker a dialogue,” he said. “We will also talk to Fatah and see their position.” Erdogan and Assad’s comments came on the opening day of an Istanbul summit on Asian security. Nine heads of state, including Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, are scheduled to attend the two-day Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia.

Israel is represented at the conference by its envoy in Ankara.
Israeli diplomatic officials, continuing a policy put into place immediately after the flotilla incident, refused to respond to Erdogan’s comments.
“We are not looking for a public shouting match with the Turks,” one official said. “So far, the shouting has been one-sided and we have earned respect from certain quarters in the world for showing restraint in the face of comments that can only be termed as undiplomatic.”

Flotilla humanitarian aid has not yet been transferred to Gaza
In a related development, the Defense Ministry said on Monday it had transferred all the humanitarian aid that had been on the flotilla intercepted last week from the Ashdod Port to the military’s Tzrifin Base near Rishon Lezion.

The equipment, which includes medicine that has expired, as well as used clothing, wheelchairs, couches and carpets, was being stored at the base after Hamas refused to allow it to be transferred to the Gaza Strip.
The coordinator of government activities in the territories, Maj.-Gen. Eitan Dangot, has instructed his team to hold talks with international organizations to find a way to get the supplies into Gaza.

Re: Iranian ships won't reach Gaza

Dr. Scott Johnson talked about in his last audio teaching over how the Palestinean community outnumbers the Jews/Isrealites like 3-1, AND they have much more heavy artilery, weapons, you name it than the Isrealites.
One would think they DO have what it takes to take out Jeruselum in a heart beat, right?

Pt being that GOD IS IN CONTROL!! And his SIGNS are RIGHT THERE!
PRAISE THE LORD he's continuing to put his shielding hand to protect them!

Another thing - Scott also mentioned that IF this 'peace treaty' ever goes through, look for Netenyahu and the Israeli government to be FULLY prepared for a PA/surrounding Arab countries attack, AND look for the Israelites to be FULLY prepared to STRIKE FIRST. So if anything, this whole 'peace treaty' that Bibi could very well concede to may be nothing but smoke and mirrors on Israel's part, meaning that they're telling the whole world that they've conceded and everything's goody goody, but all along, they have their war plans et al all locked and loaded, and will likely fire the first shot.

Iranian ships ready to sail to Gaza

Iranian ships ready to sail to Gaza
June 13, 2010  I have been waiting for this news.  Originally they said they'd arrive LAST WEEK.
I thot we should just take out Iran leadership.  I didnt think the Persian people wanted war. 100,000 indicates they DO.  sad.  Sad

The Iranian Red Crescent has equipped and loaded 2 ships with aid, and is waiting for permission from the Iranian Foreign Ministry to set sail for Gaza, AFP reported on Sunday.
A third ship is planned for next week.

An Iranian Red Crescent official, Mojtaba Majd, said that over 100,000 Iranians have volunteered to sail on the ships.
He said that the problems involved may prevent Iran from sending volunteers, however "the important issue is that the people of Gaza know that more than 100,000 Iranians are ready to come to their help."

One of the ships, which is carrying food and medicine is expected to leave this week.  The Red Crescent has promised to send two ships by Friday and a third next week.

A plane is also planned to fly to Egypt carrying 30 tons of medical aid.
The Iranian decision to send ships to Gaza, follows the international outrage over the Israeli commando raid on the Turkish ship, the Mavi Marmara, which was part of a flotilla seeking to break the Israeli blockade of Gaza.
An Iranian Red Crescent ship was sent to Gaza during 'Operation Cast Lead' but was turned back by Israeli warships.

IRAN to challenge Israel - from Gaza

IRAN to challenge Israel - from Gaza
June 15, 2010   Iranian Speaker Ali Larijani and chairman Alaeddin Boroujerdi plan to reach Gaza-Israel border Saturday, June 19 and tour the Israeli border.
Tehran wants to fly to Egypt with a large parliamentary delegation with food and medicines for Gaza.
If Egypt allows them to enter Gaza, it would be the first time a high-ranking Revolutionary Iranian delegation was ever permitted to tour the Gazan-Israeli border under the eyes of the IDF.
IRAN wants to steal the international limelight from Turkey PM Erdogan.
They plan to insult the Israeli border patrol from Gaza like 5 year old children in a sandbox hollering 'NYAH NYAH.'

Iran on war alert over US, Israel in Azerbaijan

Iran on war alert over US and Israeli concentrations in Azerbaijan

The northwestern border of Iran is Kurdistan.
Iran has been crossing the border into IRAQ to kill Kurds.
Perhaps the US is protecting our allies the Kurds.
Iran calls this 'offensive' - perhaps its defensive.

June 23, 2010    In a rare move, Iran  has declared a state of war on its northwestern border, debkafile's military and Iranian sources report.
Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps men and equipment units are being massed in the Caspian Sea region against what Tehran claims are
US and Israeli forces concentrated on army and air bases in Azerbaijan  ready to strike Iran's nuclear facilities.

The announcement came on Tuesday, June 22 from Brig.-Gen Mehdi Moini of the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC), commander of the forces tasked with "repelling" this American-Israeli offensive.
He said: "The mobilization is due to the presence of American and Israeli forces on the western border," adding,
"Reinforcements are being dispatched to West Azerbaijan Province because some western countries are fueling ethnic conflicts to destabilize the situation in the region."

In the past, Iranian officials have spoken of US and Israel attacks in general terms. debkafile's Iranian sources note that this is the
first time that a specific location was mentioned and large reinforcements dispatched to give the threat substance.

Other Iranian sources report that in the last few days, Israel has secretly transferred a large number of bomber jets to bases in Azerbaijan, via Georgia, and that
American special forces are also concentrated in Azerbaijan in preparation for a strike.

No comment has come from Azerbaijan about any of these reports.
Iranian Azerbaijan, the destination of the Revolutionary Guards forces reinforcements, borders on Turkey, Iraq and Armenia.
Witnesses say long IRGC convoys of tanks, artillery, anti-aircraft units and infantry are seen heading up the main highways to Azerbaijan and then further north to the Caspian Sea.

On Tuesday, June 22, Dr. Uzi Arad, head of Israel's National Security Council and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's closest adviser, said
"The latest round of UN Security Council sanctions on Iran is inadequate for thwarting its nuclear progress. A preemptive military strike might eventually be necessary."

debkafile's intelligence and Iranian sources point to three other developments as setting off Iran's war alert:

1.  A certain (limited) reinforcement of American and Israeli forces has taken place in Azerbaijan.
Neither Washington nor Jerusalem has ever acknowledged a military presence in this country that borders on Iran,
but Western intelligence sources say that both keep a wary eye on the goings-on inside Iran from electronic surveillance bases in that country.

2.  Iran feels moved to respond to certain US steps: The arrival of the USS Harry S. Truman Strike Group in the Persian Gulf and the Arabian Sea and its
war games with France and Israel, which included live-fire bombing practices against targets in Iran.

3.   The execution of Abdolmalek Rigi, head of the Sunni Baluchi rebel organization (including the Iranian Baluchis), on June 20 was intended as a deterrent for Iran's other minorities.
Instead, they are more restive than ever. Several Azeri breakaway movements operate in Iranian Azerbaijan in combination with their brethren across the border.
Tehran decided a substantial buildup in the province would serve as a timely measure against possible upheavals.

The anatomy of an attack on Iran

The anatomy of an attack on Iran
July  1, 2010
In mid-June, Hugh Tomlinson in the Times of London wrote that the government of Saudi Arabia conferred on Israel the "green light" for use of its airspace for an attack on Iran.
This revelation was said to be conventional wisdom inside the Saudi military.
Tomlinson also quoted an unnamed United States military source stating to the effect that the US Department of State and the Defense Department had both said "grace" over this arrangement.

The Saudis and Israelis immediately denied the report, while US officials made no specific comments on the subject. The silence and denials nixed further media speculation.
First reported in the Times of London in July 2009 and referred to again in Tomlinson's recent article is word of a supposed meeting between Israel's Mossad chief Meir Dagan and
unnamed Saudi intelligence leaders to discuss such an arrangement that both governments denied then and now.

Given the apparent regional political status quo, how might the Israeli Air Force (IAF) strike Iran undetected on approach and at the very least unacknowledged on return if the decision is made in
Jerusalem that the existential threat posed by Iran's arc of nuclear progress can no longer safely be tolerated?

Although the coordination of logistics and tactics of such a long distance mission - 1,000 miles (1,600 kilometers) on the straight line from Tel Aviv to Iran's uranium enrichment facility in Natanz - is daunting, the strategic or political realities must be defined before all else.

Overflight of Iraq on a direct bearing to Iran is out of the question. Such a path would cause friction between the US, responsible for Iraq's aerial sovereignty, and the next Iraqi government sure to be of delicate composition. It's safe to assume that the US views stability in Iraq far higher on the national interest meter than say apartments in east Jerusalem, thus for Israel the straight line over Iraq comes at a price that it can ill afford to pay.

The likely route to Iran, beginning at regional dusk preferably in the dark a new moon, is to fly a great circle around Iraq. Only careful planning carried out with precision timing and execution will ensure success. For this route, almost every applicable IAF logistics and support asset would be utilized.

The first leg for any F-15I and F-16I fighter bombers is a low-level run up the Mediterranean in the area of the Syrian town of Latakin, where up to three KC-707s (aerial tankers) in race track orbit would top up the tanks of the strike group. This tankage is absolutely necessary for the shorter-legged F-16I (range 1,300 miles). Refueling the F-15I (range 2765 miles) is desirable but not a necessity unless intelligence suggests targets beyond eastern Iran.

To skirt Turkish airspace and the ability of the Turkish military to raise an alarm heard throughout the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), the strike group with two pairs of Gulfstream G-550s: one of each outfitted as a network-centric collaborative targeting (NCCT) and one each employing Senior Suter technology must fly low across northern Syria. The G-550 is a small package with the range the speed to accompany the strike group round trip without refueling - therefore up to the challenge.

The NCCT aircraft ferrets out air defense radars. The Suter partner beams a data stream containing, what in computer parlance is called a a "worm", into air defense radars with the capability of incapacitating an entire air defense network, if such a network is under centralized control.

This technology pioneered by the US Air Force and part of the code named the "Big Safari" program is heady stuff said to work wonders over Syria during the IAF's strike on Syria's North Korean-designed nuclear reactor in September 2007. The support of the G-550s will be instrumental every mile of the mission.

Non-networked anti-aircraft artillery (AAA) in states hostile to Israel may necessitate F-16Is in the tried and true AGM-88 high speed anti-radiation missile (HARM) mission.

Yet another application of high technology was the launch on June 11, 2007, of Ofek-7, as noted by Richard B Gasparre, also a source on G-550s in IAF service at airforce-technology.com, is a "... reconnaissance satellite, which gives Israeli intelligence specialists site and system mapping capability of unprecedented accuracy". Ofek-7 undoubtedly contributed to strike planning for the IAF's mission to Syria.

These powerful tools will be counted on to enable the strike package to skirt either Turkish or Iraqi airspace for a short jump of 150 or so miles to reach Iranian airspace undetected. The distance on a straight line from Latakin to Tabriz in Iran is 618 miles. The flight is shorter if the Israelis avoid Turkey and cut the Kurdish corner.

At a designated point over northern Iran, the strike group splits into Q and E-flights. Q-Flight flies southeast 348 miles to reach the known uranium-enrichment sites in Qom (under construction) and Natanz (operational). E-Flight homes in on the gas storage development site at Esfahan and the heavy water reactor complex at Arak on a more southerly path of 481 miles.

All the while in Iranian airspace, the G-550 Suter and NCCT aircraft work in tandem and with F-16I aircraft to suppress radars and AAA, while F-15Is designated top cover guard against any air-to-air threat put up by Iran's air force.

The strike package can count on aid in the form of Popeye Turbo cruise missiles launched by at least one Israeli submarine from the Arabian Sea against targets in Iran designed to shield the Israeli planes, degrade enemy responses and sow confusion among the Iranian military.

At some point, one of the three US Air Force RC-135 Rivet Joint ELINT (electronic intelligence) platforms in the area will "see" Iranian air defense radars and hear an explosion of Iranian voices on open airwaves and quickly piece together events in Iran. This collected product will be immediately passed through Central Command to Washington for dissemination to the principles of the National Security Council, including US President Barack Obama.
Seven hours earlier, at least three IAF KC-707s would have flown the 3,500 miles around the Arabian Peninsula, likely painted up like commercial 707 cargo aircraft, transiting international airspace to a meeting point over the northern Persian Gulf. At this extreme range, each KC-707 carries only an estimated 85,000 lbs of fuel to pass to the hungry F-16Is flying 451 miles from Qom and 350 miles from Esfahan.

Each F-16I will require at least 5,000 lbs of jet fuel for the final leg of nearly 1,000 miles through northern Saudi Arabia then home. Thus, a hinge point in IAF planning; the Israelis must determine the mix of F-16Is and KC-707s committed to the mission.

On and over the Persian Gulf, given the presence of US Navy and Air Force AWACS platforms such as the EC-2 Hawkeye and E-3 Sentry along with SPY-1 radars of US Navy cruisers and destroyers, the Israelis can have no expectation at all that the refueling scrum of the F-16Is will go undetected. During this evolution, any IAF planes too damaged to make it home can ditch close to a US Navy ship with a reasonable expectation of rescue.

Much will depend on what the US does with the information in hand. Does Obama choose to inform Iraqi and Gulf Cooperation Council allies of the situation, or will various US radars simply go into "diagnostic mode", as if operators cannot believe what they see?

If Obama's decision is to watch and listen, the strike group can try a run for home across northern Saudi Arabia. Here, the Saudis have a decision. The Saudi Air Force can defend the kingdom's airspace, possibly taking loses and handing out same, or the Israelis can bet on G-550s tricking out the kingdom's air defenses in a manner that gives the Saudis an excuse to say they were blinded by the IAF and the non-cooperation of the US.

By flying north, the IAF reaps the benefits of plausible deniability, a political necessity for US and allied Arab states. These states can honestly say they had no prior knowledge of IAF planes winging it to Iran with full racks of missiles and bombs.

Another option is available to the Israelis to increase the IAF's odds of flying the northern leg undetected. This choice is to strike the "Duchy of Nasrallah" - Hezbollah under Hassan Nasrallah in Lebanon - to create cover and sow confusion. If the IAF is to strike Iran, immediate blowback is to be expected from Iran-supported Hezbollah's extensive inventory of unguided missiles.

On June 18, the aircraft carrier USS Harry S Truman and task group including the German frigate Hessen in the company of an unidentified Israeli naval vessel made a fast transit of the Suez Canal. The Egyptians not only closed the canal to all traffic, all fishing boats where docked, while the Egyptian military lined the banks of the canal. All facets of this passage rank as extraordinary.

It is readily apparent that the US Department of State and the Pentagon collaborated closely with an Arab country to create a lane of fast transit not only for US Navy assets and an attached NATO ally, but for an Israeli ship.

One more element, the IDF launched their improved Ofek-9 reconnaissance satellite on June 22. Is this a matter of timing or of coincidence?

Tensions are high in the region, yet little could precipitate a full diplomatic meltdown quicker than for Iran to directly challenge Israel's blockade of Gaza. And this confrontation is in no way limited to Israel and Iran. Such a provocation could easily inflame public opinion in Sunni Arab states, where leaders are weary of Tehran's grandstanding on the question of Israel. Tehran's rhetoric of threats toward Israel politically undermines Arab governments seen as less fervent on the subject.

CNN reported on June 24 on Iran's canceled designs to directly test the Gaza blockade. Hossein Sheikholeslam, secretary general of the International Conference for the Support of the Palestinian Intifada, said, "In order not to give the Zionist regime an excuse, we will send the aid through other routes and without Iran's name."

Sheiholeslam's comment makes little sense, as the point of Iran's aid exercise was to win the propaganda war against Israel and Arab states. Whatever Iran's "excuse", there is reason now to suspect the Tehran regime will back down if decisively confronted by a motivated and unified coalition of area states.

Iran threatens oil routes

Iran threatens oil routes
July  2, 2010
A US-Iran showdown loomed closer early Friday, July 2, when president Barack Obama signed into law a series of energy sanctions, the toughest yet, for arresting Iran's nuclear weapons program.
Iran's defense minister Gen. Ahmad Vahidi warned that searches of its ships or planes would have "dire consequences" for world security and the Middle East in particular.

The law drafted by Congress shuts US markets to firms that provide Iran with refined petroleum products, such as gasoline and jet fuel, invest in its energy sector, or provide financing, insurance or shipping services.
Non-US banks doing business with blacklisted Iranian entities, primarily Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps organizations, will be banned from US markets.

These measures complement and strengthen the new UN Security Council sanctions and European measures and will hit every Iranian. The oil-rich country Islamic Republic imports 40 percent of its refined oil needs because of its own inadequate refining capacity. Any investors in projects for developing this sector would be punishable under the new US law.

Earlier, Gen. Vahidi warned world powers against implementing certain UN sanctions: "As regards inspection of (Iranian) ships, there are one or two countries which pursue the issue and have made some comments about it and this indicates that these people don't pay any attention to security issues in the region and the world," said.

Tuesday, June 26, debkafile's military sources reported the arrival of the USS Nassau-LHA-4 at the head of a strike group of amphibian craft to the Gulf of Aden-Red Sea sector with 4,000 Marines aboard, including special units trained in operations behind enemy lines. Our sources disclosed that their presence caused Tehran to hold back the ships destined for breaking Israel's sea blockade of the Gaza Strip for fear they would be intercepted and searched as UN sanctions permits.

The Speaker of the Iranian parliament (Majlis) Ali Larijani and the Revolutionary Guards commander Gen. Ali Fadavi have both threatened harsh reprisals against all vessels, including American warships and oil tankers sailing through the Persian Gulf and Straits of Hormuz, for any attempts to search ships or planes carrying cargoes to Iran.

The new US law will make shipping and insurance costs for Iran's gasoline imports prohibitive. They are the first sanctions to bite really deep into Iran's economy and hit the Guards' commercial empire. Their control of refined oil imports is a major source of revenue and those profits provide funding for their operations, the foremost of which is the development and manufacture of nuclear weapons.

debkafile's Iranian sources have no doubt that Iran will not take the new penalties lying down and will strike back - possibly, in the first instance, by impeding Persian Gulf shipping carrying Saudi and Gulf oil out to the United States, Europe and the Far East, with immediate effect on world oil prices.
Interception of an Iranian ship suspected of carrying contraband energy products could well spin into a showdown.

Obama indicated that this time the United States is determined to follow through on its punitive measures against Iran. As he signed the new sanctions, he said: "There should be no doubt, the US and the international community are determined to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. The new sanctions would strike at its capacity to finance its nuclear program." He went on to say, "If Tehran persists in its course, the pressure will continue to mount and its isolation continue to deepen."

Moscow to have Iran's Bushehr reactor running by September

Moscow to have Iran's Bushehr reactor running by September
July  9, 2010
Moscow and Tehran have announced that the nuclear reactor Russia is building Iran at Bushehr - its first - has completed all its test-runs and will be up and running in early September - ahead of schedule.
debkafile's military sources reported several times in recent months that the Iranian reactor at Bushehr is not just a power plant but also has military applications. Chief among them is the reuse of its fuel rods to produce plutonium as atomic weapon fuel.

Wednesday, July 7, Ali Akbar Salehi, chairman of the Iranian Atomic Energy Commission, said: "Today we passed the hot water test, one of the Bushehr power plant's most important and final tests before its inauguration."
He admitted UN, US and European sanctions would slow the pace of the Iranian nuclear program - but not affect the activation of the Bushehr reactor.

Thursday, July 8, Atomstroyexport, the Russian company building the Iranian reactor, confirmed this: "Efficiency tests of the reactor equipment and supporting technological systems were held," said the firm's spokesman in Moscow. "We finished the so-called hot operational testing that was the final stage before launch."

The Russian company did not mention when the reactor would go on stream, but back on March 18, Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin said at a summit of senior Russian officials in southern Russia: "The first reactor at Iran's nuclear power plant in Bushehr is to be launched already in the summer."

Since he made this remark while US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton was in Moscow, it was taken as a Russian signal to Washington that while willing to support expanded UN sanctions, Russia had no intention of abandoning its nuclear cooperation with Tehran.
Clinton's response was: "In the absence of those reassurances (from Iran regarding the nature of its nuclear program), we (the Americans) think it would be premature to go forward with any project at this time."

And indeed, on June 9, Russia voted with 11 UN Security Council members in favor of the US motion to expand sanctions against Iran for failing to comply with international obligations on its nuclear program.
At the same time, Moscow remained opposed to unilateral sanctions outside the world body.

This was stated by special emissary to Tehran, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov, after the European Union and the United States imposed their own sanctions, including President Barack Obama's signature on an embargo on refined fuel products and a ban on business with Iranian banks.
Thursday, July 8, Moscow then leaned further in Tehran's favor, calling for the world powers to consider Iran's proposals for a compromise on their nuclear controversy, not just their own, when negotiations are resumed.

Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has said that the negotiations can only begin in September.
It would therefore seem that the concatenation of the two events - diplomacy and the launching of the Bushehr reactor - points to Russia's new emphasis on improving its relations with Iran and willingness to take its side in the forthcoming nuclear dialogue.

Iran energy plant explosion

Iran energy plant explosion
August 4,  2010
Huge Iranian energy plant explosion coincides with bid on Ahmadinejad's life.
A massive explosion killed at least 5 workers at the giant new Pardis petrochemicals complex in Assaluyeh in southern Iran Wednesday,
about the time an explosive device was hurled at Iran president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as his armored convoy drove through Hamadan in north Iran.

Assaluyeh is situated on Persian Gulf coast not far from the Bushehr nuclear reactor.
Large sections of the complex were destroyed which Iran attributed to a ruptured gas pipe.
The plant was hit by 5 explosive devices.

Iran is trying to play down the attempt on Ajad's life by a bomber present in the large audience surrounding his convoy.
But they put the Hamadan and Pardis attacks together for a joint investigation. They suspect an may have struke at 2 major targets in opposite ends of the country.
Exactly what Arab states are doing to Israel.
Assaluyeh is the hub of Pars Energy industries fueled by the natural gas piped in from the giant South Pars field.

Iran suspects saboteurs.
Hamadan population is purely Iranian Shiite persecuted by the regime.

Iran UAV chief killed
August 16, 2010
Reza Baruni, the father of Iran's military UAV program, died in an explosion that destroyed his villa.
He lived in the secluded southern town of Ahwaz, Khuzestan.
DEBKA reports that bombs were planted at the corners of the building and rigged to explode and bring the ceilings down on its occupants.
His death could put Iran UAVs in mothballs.  My guess is special ops, either Israeli or U.S.

Air crash near Bushehr, 3 drones slam into reactor dome

August 17, 2010     DEBKAfile Exclusive Report
Two mysterious incidents are reported by debkafile in the run-up to the fueling up of Iran's first nuclear reactor Saturday, Aug. 21

Tuesday, Aug. 17, an Iranian F4 Phantom fighter jet was claimed by Tehran to have crashed 6 kilometers north of the Bushehr nuclear reactor in southern Iran.
Debka reports it was shot down by Russian-made TOR-M1 air-missile defense batteries guarding the reactor.
A local government official Gholam Reza Keshtkar said the pilot and co-pilot ejected from the plane before it crashed and were rushed to hospital.

The TOR-M1 is designed to intercept planes or missiles coming in at medium or very low altitudes in case of American or Israeli attack.
How did the Phantom penetrate to a distance of 6 kilometers from the reactor when its skies up to a 20-kilometer radius are a no-fly zone?
Perhaps the Bushehr air defense system is slow to pick up intruders, although it is known to have been on high alert since a previous incident on Aug. 1.
Or else it may been activated when inquiries to Iranian Air Force command about the jet's identity and mission failed to elicit a satisfactory reply.
Our Iranian sources report extreme edginess in Tehran ahead of August 21 when the Russian-built Bushehr reactor enters its first operational phase in the presence of high-ranking officials from Moscow.

Tuesday afternoon, after the fighter jet crashed, the foreign ministry spokesman Ramin Mehmanparast  warned "any aggression against the Bushehr nuclear plant can provoke serious reactions. Based on international rules, a facility with nuclear fuel cannot be damaged"

All the Bushehr defensive systems have been on the highest alert since a previous incident first revealed on Aug. 6 by DEBKA-Net-Weekly 456:.
On Aug. 1, three unidentified UAVs slammed into the reactor buildings, scaring the townspeople who were sure the plant was under American or Israeli attack.

After the heads of government in Tehran put their heads together to try and identify the drones, without success, the defense ministry emerged with a communiqué reporting that
a single drone had crashed on the nuclear reactor's dome, but insisted it was launched by Iran.

Bushehr citizens were sure they heard 3 mighty explosions - not one. So the deputy district governor for security affairs, Mohammad Hossein Shenidi,
who is responsible for safeguarding Bushehr and its reactors against air or missile attacks, pitched in with a lighter version of the communiqué:
A single drone had indeed been fired, he admitted, but it carried no explosives because its only purpose was to simulate a loud bang to check the level of local alertness.

According to our sources, the townspeople were correct: Three drones hit the reactor killing at least 5 of its staff members.
Tuesday afternoon, another Iranian high-up, defense minister Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi, talked to reporters. He declared that the "long range UAV called Karrar would be unveiled on this day" - an apparent reference to the debkafile report of Monday, Aug. 16, that  the death of Iran's drone program head Reza Baruni had buried the program for years go come.

Regarding the delay in Moscow's delivery of S-300 anti-aircraft missile system, Vahidi declared:
"We build whatever we want inside the country, and the production of long-range air defense system in Iran is already on the agenda of the defense ministry."

Israel Has Until Week's End to Strike Iran Nuclear Facility, Bolton Says

If they were going to do anything, they certainly wouldn't be talking about it

August 17, 2010   |  FoxNews
Israel has until the weekend to launch a military strike on Iran's first nuclear plant before the humanitarian risk of an attack becomes too great, former U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations John Bolton said Tuesday.

A Russian company is expected to help Iran start loading nuclear fuel into its plant on Saturday, after which an attack on the Bushehr reactor could trigger harmful radiation,
which Israel wants to avoid, Bolton said. So unless the Israelis act immediately to shut down the facility, it will be too late.
"Once it's close to the reactor the risk is when the reactor is attacked, there will be a release of radiation into the air," Bolton told FoxNews.com. "It's most unlikely that they would act militarily after fuel rods are loaded."

Earlier Tuesday, Bolton told Fox Business Network the Israelis will have to move in the "next eight days" if they want to attack the Bushehr facility -- a reference to the window between when the start-up was announced last week and the loading date. Bolton said Tuesday that the date has fluctuated, but he described the start-up as the ultimate deadline.

Michael Oren, Israel's ambassador to the United States, told Fox News that the nation is hopeful sanctions, passed by the United Nations, European Union and United States,
will "modify" Iran's behavior. Oren said Israel is "committed" to the sanctions program and will assess its impact at a later date.

Likelihood of strike on Iran reactor dwindling
Russian, Chinese personnel protect it

An attack probably precluded by the presence of Russian and possibly Chinese personnel at the complex.

August 18,  2010     dawn

There's been concern worldwide for many months that the United States or Israel would launch a military  strike on Iran's Bushehr nuclear reactor before it is started up in order to prevent the radical regime from acquiring a potential route to nuclear weapons.

But the likelihood is diminishing rapidly in light of announced plans by Russia to fuel the project later this week and almost eliminated by the fact that there are numerous Russian and Chinese engineers already on site who would be in the bull's-eye should an attack be launched.

The $6 billion complex, when fully operational in mid-2011, will boast two state-of-the-art 500 megawatt light-water nuclear reactors and be among the 20 largest nuclear power stations in the world, according to the International Atomic Energy Agency, the U.N.'s atomic watchdog

Possibly 1,000 Russians will remain in Bushehr to operate the power station. They will fill key roles in the plant's administration, including the site's security, say diplomats familiar with the project.
Bolton said while an Israeli attack is at this point unlikely, the results of no action are not pleasant.

Now this may be my overactive imagination, but let's play the game, Connect the Dots.

You assassinate the one person who is capable of upsetting your plan. Strategically placed and timed detonations of the UAV experts Villa was not accomplished by some disgruntled homegrown militia type.
This was Special Ops.

You then hack into the controls of their UAVs.
With the stretch of the imagination you might be willing to accept that one UAV coincidentally crashed into your reactor.
But no reasonable person would believe that three of them resulting in death of five people was a coincidence.

You then hack in and take command of the aging American built F-4.
Actually, you do not need to take full command, you simply need to aim it at their reactor and prevent it from responding to its pilot's commands.
Abort, Abort, Abort!  You then have to destroy your own warplane.

How confident are your leaders now in repelling an attack from your adversaries?  Especially when your adversaries are using your own weapons of war against yourself.
How can you prove blame when it is your own weapons?  Are you going to be successful, and willing to shoot down every one of your own warplanes?

Maybe we should postpone activating the reactor and first try to think this through.  HUH!
(Do you think someone more incompetent than Jimmy Carter, could pull this off?).

US assures Israel on Iran bomb

August 20,  2010

Washington has persuaded Jerusalem that Tehran would take one year or longer to build a nuclear weapon, dimming prospects of an imminent strike on IRAN.
Gary Samore said 'We think that they have roughly a year dash time.'  (Shortest time Iran would take to build a nuclear weapon,
judging from its existing facilities and capacity to convert stocks of low-enriched uranium into weapons-grade material, a process known as (breakout.)
Israel believes Iran is only months away from this NOW.  (Being a Muslim, regardless of his claim, Obama also wants Israel annihilated.)

The new US assessment is not clear on what problems Iran's uranium enrichment program is confronting.
The lag could be due to poor centrifuge design, difficulty in obtaining components or accelerated Western efforts to sabotage the nuclear program.
It would also take some time for Iran to convert its nuclear facilities to produce weapons-grade uranium.
Iran has added relatively few centrifuges this year, and only about half of those are working.
Israeli officials remain suspicious that Iran has a secret enrichment site.

Rumor has it that Iran has had nukes and not used them.  So why would there be all this hype?
I can only guess because the NWO wants Iran attacked.  Well then why the delay?

Piece by piece, the carpet is being pulled out from under Israel

Iran begins fueling nuclear reactor
August 21,  2010     BUSHEHR, Iran
Iranian and Russian engineers began loading fuel into Iran's first nuclear power plant on Saturday, a major milestone as Teheran forges ahead with its atomic program despite UN sanctions.
The weeklong operation to load uranium fuel into the reactor at the Bushehr power plant in southern Iran is the first step in starting up a facility the US once hoped to prevent because of fears over Teheran's nuclear ambitions.

"Despite all pressure, sanctions and hardships imposed by Western nations, we are now witnessing the startup of the largest symbol of Iran's peaceful nuclear activities," Iranian Vice President and nuclear chief Ali Akbar Salehi told reporters inside the plant.

Russia, which helped finish building the plant, has pledged to safeguard the site and prevent spent nuclear fuel from being shifted to a possible weapons program. After years of delaying its completion, Moscow says it believes the Bushehr project is essential for persuading Iran to cooperate with international efforts to ensure Iran does not develop the bomb.

The United States, while no longer formally objecting to the plant, disagrees and says Iran should not be rewarded while it continues to defy UN demands to halt enrichment of uranium, a process used to produce fuel for power plants but which can also be used in weapons production.

On Saturday, a first truckload of fuel was taken from a storage site to a fuel "pool" inside the reactor building. Over the next 10 days, 163 fuel assemblies — equal to 80 tons of uranium fuel — will be moved inside the building and then into the reactor core.

Workers in white lab coats and helmets led reporters on a tour of the cavernous facility.
It will be another two months before the 1,000-megawatt light-water reactor is pumping electricity to Iranian cities.
Iran denies an intention to develop nuclear weapons, saying it only wants to generate power with a network of nuclear plants it plans to build.

The Bushehr plant is not considered a proliferation risk because the terms of the deal commit the Iranians to allowing the Russians to retrieve all used reactor fuel for reprocessing. Spent fuel contains plutonium, which can be used to make atomic weapons. Additionally, Iran has said that International Atomic Energy Agency experts will be able to verify that none of the fresh fuel or waste is diverted.

Of greater concern to the West, however, are Iran's stated plans to build 10 new uranium enrichment sites inside protected mountain strongholds. Iran said recently it will begin construction on the first one in March in defiance of the UN sanctions.
Nationwide celebrations were planned for Saturday's fuel loading at Bushehr.

"I thank the Russian government and nation, which cooperated with the great Iranian nation and registered their name in Islamic Iran's golden history," Salehi said. "Today is a historic day and will be remembered in history."
He spoke at a news conference inside the plant with the head of Russia's state-run nuclear corporation, Sergei Kiriyenko, who said Russia was always committed to the project.

"The countdown to the Bushehr nuclear power plant has started," Kiriyenko said. "Congratulations."
It will be another two months before the 1,000-megawatt light-water reactor is pumping electricity to Iranian cities
.

Iran's hard-liners consider the completion of the plant to be a show of defiance against UN Security Council sanctions that seek to slow Iran's nuclear advances.
Hard-line leader Hamid Reza Taraqi said the launch will boost Iran's international standing and "will show the failure of all sanctions" against Iran.

President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad reiterated that Teheran was ready to resume negotiations with the six major powers trying to curb Iran's program, the 5 permanent Security Council members plus Germany.
Ahmadinejad, however, insisted Iran would reject calls to completely halt uranium enrichment, a key UN demand.
The president had earlier said the talks could start in September, but in an interview with Japan's biggest newspaper, The Yomiuri Shimbun, he said the talks could start as early as this month.

Russia signed a $1 billion contract to build the Bushehr plant in 1995 but has dragged its feet on completing the work.
Moscow had cited technical reasons for the delays, but analysts say Russia used the project to try to press Iran to ease its defiance over its nuclear program.

The uranium fuel used at Bushehr is well below the more than 90 percent enrichment needed for a nuclear warhead. Iran is already producing its own uranium enriched to the Bushehr level — about 3.5 percent. It also has started a pilot program of enriching uranium to 20 percent, which officials say is needed for a medical research reactor.

The Bushehr plant overlooks the Persian Gulf and is visible from several miles (kilometers) away with its cream-colored dome dominating the green landscape. Soldiers maintain a 24-hour watch on roads leading up to the plant, manning anti-aircraft guns and supported by numerous radar stations.

There are several housing facilities for employees inside the complex plus a separate large compound housing the families of Russian experts and technicians.
The site is about 745 miles (1,200 kilometers) south of Teheran.
Russians began shipping fuel for the plant in 2007 and carried out a test-run of the plant in February 2009.

Why Iran's nuclear reactor may not be an immediate threat

Iran's Bushehr nuclear reactor is set to be loaded with fuel Saturday. Some hawks say bomb it now, but leading nuclear experts advocate a wait-and-see approach.
Many breathless pundits have argued in recent days that the world faces a now-or-never window of opportunity to bomb Iran's new Bushehr nuclear reactor to neutralize any potential nuclear threat from Tehran.

Former UN Ambassador John Bolton says the deadline for destroying it must be before the first fuel is loaded on Saturday – and before it becomes more of a radioactive and political mess to destroy.

The reactor, once operating, could give Iran enough plutonium-laced spent fuel to make up to 60 nuclear weapons within 12 to 18 months of operation, according to nuclear experts.

Still, many leading US nuclear scientists caution that even after Russia begins fueling the power plant that it built in southern Iran, the international community will have at least two weeks, and possibly longer, while fuel is being loaded to evaluate the situation since Bushehr will not become instantly radioactive.

"A good number of people have erroneously assumed that once the Russians load the fuel in Bushehr, the plant 'goes radioactive,' " Henry Sokolski, director of the Nonproliferation Policy Education Center, a Washington think tank, writes in an e-mail.

Though he opposes bombing, "the amount of reactivity in the reactor initially is relatively low, so low that the amount of radioactive material that might be dispersed if the plant was bombed would be negligible" for weeks or months.

But other experts say the time is just a few weeks at most. Intense radioactive buildup won't begin at Bushehr until the reactor is turned on after fuel loading is completed on Sept. 5, Iranian officials say.

After that, the intensity of the radiation buildup depends on the power output, says Frank Von Hipple, a nuclear nonproliferation expert and physicist at Princeton University.

"I think that the idea of bombing Bushehr – whether in a day or a month – is crazy," he says.

The potential environmental and health impacts of bombing Bushehr after it is operating depends on wind conditions and how much radiation has built up inside the reactor, he says. Long- and short-lived radiation levels would be relatively small until power output reaches perhaps 10 percent or more, Dr. Von Hipple says.

But dangerous levels of radioactivity could be reached in less than a week after Bushehr begins operating, says Edwin Lyman, a nuclear physicist with the Union of Concerned Scientists, who also does not favor bombing.

Radiation will build up significantly in the two-week span after Sept. 5, if Iranians ramp up power to 50 percent as they say they will, he says.

"There will be an enormous quantity of radioactivity even at a fraction of the rated power of the reactor soon after startup," Lyman writes in an e-mail. "Even after a few days at a significant power level, like 20 percent, these [radioactive isotopes] would be numerous enough to be of great concern if released into the environment."

While Von Hipple, Mr. Sokolski, or Dr. Lyman differ on how significant the threat from Bushehr is, all say that the reactor's first year to 18 months – when the first load of nuclear fuel is being irradiated – will be telling. That's where agreement ends.

During that period of time, Bushehr's first load of fuel could produce about 300 kilograms (kg) of weapons-usable plutonium – enough to entice the Iranians to cheat on international inspectors, Sokolski says. The fuel would be lower in radioactivity at this time – so easier to handle – while also higher in plutonium concentration and better for making bombs.

Von Hipple says it would be about one-third that amount. Still, it takes as little as 6 kg of plutonium to build a bomb, he says.

Secret US-Russian deal tied Israel's hands
August 21, 2010
This makes me angry!!
Barak Hussein Obama never protested IRAN reactor startup.
The Russian Kremlin and the U.S. State Department joined in concealing the secret deal whereby Russia votes for UN Security Council sanctions against Iran
in return for US silent acquiescent to Moscow's activation of the Bushehr reactor.

The price paid is prohibitive.
Moscow claims the rods will be returned, but Iran's capacity for deception and concealment in the entire last decide s well documented.

Both Obama and Netanyahu had been beguiled into trusting that Russian President Medvedev's tougher line on Iran would prevail in the Kremlin. But Medvedev was nowhere to be seen when Putin assigned Sergei Kirienko, head of Rosatom, with shipping fuel to Bushehr within a week and getting the reactor on stream.

Omitting any comment on the Bushehr reactor, Prime Minister Netanyahu stated that Israel's security would be paramount in a deal with the Palestinians. He issued a list of stipulations, such as the demilitarization of territory handed to the Palestinians - only side arms for police; Israel would retain control of the Jordan Rift Valley bordering the Kingdom of Jordan and the mountain ridges forming the spine of the West Bank, they key to defending Jerusalem and Israel's coastal plain.
Many will recall the prime minister's solemn reiterations that a nuclear-armed Iran would pose an existential threat to Israel and noticed how fast they have faded.

His "security pledges" regarding a future Palestinian state on the West Bank should therefore be taken with a hefty grain of salt. Indeed, according to debkafile's Washington sources, the prime minister may already be listening to a US proposal to assign the policing of the Jordan Valley and West Bank mountain peaks to NATO troops, most of them American.

Iranian President Ahmadinejad inaugurates first locally made unmanned long-range bomber, calling it an ambassador of death to Iran's enemies.
The 4-meter long unmanned plane, dubbed as Karrar or striker, was inaugurated by Ahmadinejad on Sunday, the national day for defense industry.
The jet is for deterrence and defensive purposes.  Uh huh .. right ...
Iran has been producing its own light, unmanned surveillance aircraft since the late 1980s.  The new development in Iran's long-rang
strike capabilities comes a day after they  began moving uranium fuel into the Bushehr nuclear reactor .

Outside threats from Iran, Syria
IRAN unveils long-range bomber-drone Karrar Ambassador of Death
August 22, 2010
The Islamic enemies of GOD and Israel declare very imminent Middle East war
The general expectation of a US-Israeli strike on Iran faded into the background of the threatening stance currently adopted by Iran, Syria, HELLzballah and the Palestinians.
Jerusalem is extremely concerned by the placing of 4 hostile military forces on the highest level of war preparedness, and wonder why.  DUH, I wonder!

Defense minister Ehud Barak's nomination of Maj. Gen Yoav Galant as Israeli 20th chief of staff was necessary - not just to dispel the climate of intrigue among competing generals,
but to pull the high command together in view of the preparations to attack Israel gathering momentum in Tehran, Damascus, Beirut and Ramallah - and even in al Qaeda in Yemen.
Al Qaeda stated that a war between Iran and Israel is about to erupt, and called on all Arab aviators to crash their planes on Israeli city centers.

The situation is too incendiary to ignore, Israeli PM Bibi Netanyahu ended the uncertainty over the choice of next chief of staff
after Lt. Gen. Gaby Ashkenazi steps down, and named Maj. Gen. Yoav Galant as his candidate for the next chief of staff.
Gen. Galant could take over Israeli military command from Ashkenazy as soon as the beginning of the Jewish New Year in September.

Aug. 3 came dangerously close to war when a Lebanese sniper killed an Israeli.
debka lists potentials for exploding into a major Middle East war

- Israeli northern and southern borders are all tense.  (I suggest ISRAEL watch the Allenby bridge and tunnels there too!)
- Russian built nuclear reactor at Bushehr
- Iran armed unmanned plane called Karrar,  'Ambassador of Death'
- The Israel-Palestinian 'peace talks' Sept. 2 going nowhere
- 9 Hizballah leaders in Lebanon in international court inquiring into the 2005 Hariri assassination, Hassan 'Nasy' Nasrallah wrongly blames Israel.
- Aug. 19 all Syrian homeland defenses and emergency services were placed on the highest war readiness for an outbreak of hostilities without further notice.

- Iran is expected to take advantage of the withdrawal of US combat troops from Iraq to make a grab for the oil-rich south and send its allies to carry out operations against Israel as a diversionary tactic.
USA is leaving some combat troops in Iraq, but calling them something other than 'combat.'

Iran's nuclear clock ticking
August 24, 2010
Following leaks of delays in Iran's nuclear program, Prof. Gary Milhollin asked to write article.
'Administration's assumption incorrect. Iranian's have enough uranium for three bombs and have started enriching at high level'

The Iranian nuclear clock is not slowing down, claims Gary Milhollin, director of the Wisconsin Project on Nuclear Arms Control, an organization that tracks the proliferation of nuclear weapons throughout the world.

Just days after the Obama administration leaked to the New York Times about delays and technical problems plaguing Iran's nuclear program, Prof. Milhollin claims that Iran is continuing its nuclear developments on schedule.
Milhollin warns that the claims being made by the administration that Iran's capabilities have been dimished thus creating more time to convince the regime to change its path are false.

"Sad to say, the assumption is false. The clock is still ticking, vigorously," writes Milhollin. "By the beginning of this year, Iran had produced enough low-enriched uranium to fuel two nuclear weapons if the uranium were further enriched to weapon-grade. By now, Iran has added almost enough of this low-enriched uranium to fuel a third weapon, and by the middle of next year (at the current production rate), it will probably produce enough to fuel a fourth."

Milhollin also warns that Iran started enriching uranium to a higher grade during February of this year, reaching 90% of the required enrichment to produce a nuclear weapon.
"All this is happening at a time when Iran is successfully fielding ballistic missiles that can carry a nuclear payload far enough to reach Israel," Milhollin writes.

Additional secret facilities?

While the Obama administration is claiming that it will take Iran another year to obtain weapons-grade uranium, Milhollin reminds readers that "the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), while acknowledging that it could, indeed, take this long, says also that it could take as little as three months."

According to him, there are additional unknowns in the equation, such as the existence of additional secret nuclear facilities such as the one recently discovered at Qom. If such facilities do exist, he states, they render the administration's calculations meaningless.

Milhollin charges, "But why quibble about how long the final phase of bomb making might take? Instead, we should keep our eyes on the big fact here, which is that Iran is fast approaching the status of a 'virtual' nuclear weapon state – one with the ability to kick out UN inspectors and build a handful of nuclear warheads."
He concludes, "This is not an argument for bombing Iran, by Israel or anyone else. But it is a warning -- a warning that we must confront the growth of Iran's nuclear capability, and not be lulled into imagining that it's not real."

SPY WAR in IRAN
August 28, 2010
Iranian spy factions shoot it out on Tehran streets completely blacked out by the Iran regime.
August 23 a battle in the streets of Tehran flared between rival intelligence factions of the Ministry of Intelligence (MOIS) and the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC)  as mutual suspicions boiled over.
The IRGC directors of Iran's nuclear program suspected politicians of passing nuclear secrets to the West, to tip the scales in factional feuds.

MOIS is incensed over secret reports that members of President Ahmadinejad's inner circle have been trading disloyal gossip about Ayatollah Khamenei, sneering that his end is near.
The incident erupted after a MOIS team broke into a luxury apartment belonging to an IRGC officer amd discovered 2 bugs hooked up for spying on the IRGC offices.
They searched other apartments and found listening devices everywhere.
On their way out, they were jumped on by IRGC men who tried to grab the gadgets they had collected.

MOIS barricaded themselves in the building and called for back-up.  The reinforcements were stopped at roadblocks, and the 2 groups started shooting. The gunfire spread into the apartment building and around the surrounding streets.
The bugs had been planted by Shahid Fahmideh, which is directly answerable to Khameini, installed by IRGC Intelligence.
Iran leadership is riddled with mutual suspicions.

Iran begins mass production of assault boats
August 23, 2010
PRIDE GOES BEFORE a FALL !!
Ahmadinejad mocked Israel as lacking courage to attack Iran.
Inauguration of production lines for missile-launching speedboats comes day after Iranian President Ahmadinejad unveiled a home-built bomber drone dubbed the ambassador of death.

Iran has also launched mass production of Seraj (Lamp) and Zolfaqar (Shiite sword) speedboats, missile-launching assault boats to be deployed along its coastline and around the key Strait of Hormuz shipping route.
Boats are designed for quick assaults on ships and equipped with two missile launchers, machine guns and a computer system to control the missiles.
(Israel can probably render those computers useless.  Haha!)
Seraj also for use in the Caspian Sea and the Gulf of Oman.

The drone, Karar (Assailant) can carry 4 stealth cruise missiles, two 250 pound bombs or a precision missile.
Iran recently took delivery of 4 domestically built Ghadir mini-submarines, a stealth vessel designed to operate in shallow waters such as the Gulf.
Iran has threatened to close the Strait of Hormuz, choking off some 40% of tanker-shipped oil worldwide, in the event of a military attack.

Iran develops flying bombs for Israeli cities, US targets
August 30,  2010   [b]  Iran, backed by the Russian bear, is an Ambassador of Death,
together with HELLzballah in Lebanon, Syria and Gaza.
[b]Is an Israeli-US strike imminent?   Where?

Iran's new Karrar UAV (Ambassador of Death) is a primitive copy of an obsolete unmanned US cruise missile from the 1950s.
Mass-produced with extended range, large swarms of these flying bombs could cause death and destruction to Israel and US military bases and warships in the Persian Gulf, Iraq and Afghanistan.
Karrar carries 4 cruise missiles and its approach on target is silent and therefore an unwelcome surprise to its victims.
Neither the Israeli Arrow nor the US Patriot missile interceptors are designed for unsophisticated flying bombs.
Needless to say, Iran proxies Syria, Lebanon and Gaza likely have them also.

Cyber Attack Targets Iran Nuclear Plant
September 23, 2010
This worm has infected over 45,000 industrial networks throughout the world without causing major damage.
A destructive cyber worm designed to bring down industrial complexes has Iran's new nuclear power plant in its sights.
And a nation such as Israel or China or even the United States could be behind it.

The Stuxnet worm sparked both awe and alarm among digital security experts when first identified in June.
Far more advanced than the mainstream malware often used for identity theft,
Stuxnet is reportedly able to take over a computing system via nothing more than a USB memory stick, without any user intervention.

This is the first direct example of weaponized software, highly customized and designed to find a particular target.
Stuxnet targets industrial control systems, such as those that power Iran's Bushehr nuclear plant.
And some experts speculate that it was written by a nation explicitly to take out Bushehr.

An alarmed Iran asks for outside help to stop rampaging Stuxnet malworm
September 29,  2010
Tehran this week secretly appealed to a number of computer security experts in West and East Europe with offers of handsome fees for consultations on
ways to exorcize the Stuxnet worm spreading havoc through the computer networks and administrative software of its most important industrial complexes and military command centers.
Iran turned for outside help after local computer experts failed to remove the destructive virus.

None of the foreign experts has so far come forward because Tehran refuses to provide precise information on the
sensitive centers and systems under attack and give the visiting specialists the locations where they would need to work.
They were not told whether they would be called on to work outside Tehran or given access to affected sites to study how they function and how the malworm managed to disable them.
Iran also refuses to give out data on the changes its engineers have made to imported SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) systems, mostly from Germany.

The Iranians are getting desperate. Not only have their own attempts to defeat the invading worm failed, but they made matters worse:
The malworm became more aggressive and returned to the attack on parts of the systems damaged in the initial attack.

One expert said: "The Iranians have been forced to realize that they would be better off not 'irritating' the invader because it hits back with a bigger punch."
Looking beyond Iran's predicament, he wondered whether the people responsible for planting Stuxnet in Iran - and apparently continuing to offload information from its sensitive systems -
have the technology for stopping its rampage. "My impression," he said, "is that somebody outside Iran has partial control at least on its spread. Can this body stop malworm in its tracks or kill it?
We don't have that information at present, he said.

As it is, the Iranian officials who turned outside for help were described by another of the experts they approached as alarmed and frustrated.
It has dawned on them that the trouble cannot be waved away overnight but is around for the long haul.
Finding a credible specialist with the magic code for ridding them of the cyber enemy could take several months.
After their own attempts to defeat Stuxnet backfired, all the Iranians can do now is to sit back and hope for the best,
helpless to predict the worm's next target and which other of their strategic industries will go down or be robbed of its secrets next.

While Tehran has given out several conflicting figures on the systems and networks struck by the malworm - 30,000 to 45,000 industrial units -
security experts as putting the figure much higher, in the region of millions. If this is true, then this cyber weapon attack on Iran would be the greatest ever.

EU offers Dec. 5 meeting with Iran
Nov 2010
BRUSSELS – The European Union offered Friday to meet with Iran on Dec. 5 to discuss Tehran's nuclear program.
In a letter to Iran obtained by The Associated Press, EU foreign policy chief Catherine Ashton rejects Tehran's preference for a meeting in Istanbul, where Iran would have Turkish allies on the sidelines.

The letter suggests that after discussions with the six-nation group of negotiators — the United States, Russia, China, Britain, France and Germany — the meeting be held in Vienna or Switzerland.
The EU says in the letter it wants "a full and in-depth exchange of views concerning the Iranian nuclear program."

Whether Iran is will to reopen talks is unclear. Iran's president Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Wednesday that his country won't talk about what it insists is its right to continue nuclear activities.
The meeting would be between Ashton and Iran's top negotiator, Dr. Saeed Jalili, and the six nations would be represented by lower-level negotiators.

The talks would be the first in a year after negotiations bogged down over Tehran's disputed nuclear program. The U.S. and some of its allies suspect Iran's civil nuclear energy program is a cover for a secret effort to develop weapons.

They are pushing Tehran to fully open all facilities to international inspection and to give up uranium enrichment, a key element of its nuclear work that could give it a pathway to the bomb. Iran says it has a right to enrich uranium for producing nuclear fuel.
The EU and others have rejected having talks in Istanbul because it does not feel the need for another regional power to get involved at this stage, said a European diplomat who asked to remain anonymous because of the sensitivity of the subject.

"As far as the venue is concerned, holding the meeting in Istanbul is not possible," the EU letter said. Ashton was called for a three-day meeting to be concluded with a press conference.
Negotiations foundered a year ago over a U.N.-drafted proposal for Iran to ship most of its stockpile of enriched uranium abroad for further processing and to be returned in the form of fuel rods for a Tehran research reactor that makes isotopes used in cancer treatment.

Iran, Hizballah Prepare WAR
November 13, 2010
Hizballah's Hassan Nasrallah has quietly placed Hashim Safi Al-Din, his cousin and heir apparent, in command of southern Lebanon and its border with Israel,
further upgrading Iran-backed preparations for an armed clash, debkafile's exclusive military sources report.
This week, Safi Al-din was recalled from his post in Tehran as head of Hizballah's Liaison Office and immediately assumed the reins from Sheikh Nabil Quouk, the 2006 War commander.

Our intelligence sources say this appointment is the most ominous sign to date of the seriousness Iran and Hizballah attach to their plans for an early war with Israel. Three further developments point in this direction:

1. Tehran, Damascus and Nasrallah are tensely watching the clock ticking for the UN Special Tribunal on Lebanon -
STL to deliver indictments against top Hizballah officials before the end of this year or early January. Hizballah has threatened to block their extradition by seizing Lebanon's government and strategic centers.
This action that could quickly ignite the inflammable Lebanese-Israeli border, an interconnection Hizballah's leader eagerly embraced in his latest speech of Thursday, Nov. 11.

Shouting at the top of his voice, Nasrallah threatened to "chop off the hand that dared to accuse or detain members of the 'Hizballah gendarmerie.'" He went on to yell:
"We await the day the indictments will be released." And in the same breath ranted, "We are ready for any Israeli war on Lebanon and will again be victorious, Inshallah.
Whoever thinks that threatening us with another Israel war will scare us is mistaken. On the contrary, whoever speaks of another war is bearing good news not threatening us."

2.  Tehran views the newly appointed South Lebanon commander, Hashim Safi Al-Din,
is its most stalwart partisan in the Lebanese Shiite Hizballah leadership since Imad Moughnieh passed away two years ago in an exploding car in Damascus.
Safi Al-Din is therefore trusted most of all Hizballah's leaders to do as he is told by Iran in a direct confrontation with Israel.

Iran did not get this sort of obedience in the 2006 War: Nasrallah went his own way regardless of strategic and military instructions from Tehran.
For instance, he ordered Israeli towns and villages blasted by his rockets at the rate of 500 a day whereas Iranian experts wanted the rocket fire concentrated on the Israeli troops driving into Lebanon.
To appease his Iranian sponsors, Nasrallah then appointed Mughniyeh war commander in the middle of combat.

But Tehran is taking no chances of any more insubordination from its proxy. Nasrallah will be kept in line by Iran's obedient loyalist in the key command position in
South Lebanon and Iran will stay in control of a future confrontation with Israel from the word go.

3.  At the same time, the appointment of his cousin confirms Hassan Nasrallah as the Hizballah strongman capable of bringing to fruition the ambition Tehran and Damascus cherish of establishing their man in Beirut as boss of Lebanon.

Hashim Safi Al-Din also enjoys Nasrallah trust. They also look remarkably alike. debkafile revealed in an exclusive report in 2007 that Nasrallah was using his
cousin as his look-alike to throw would-be assassins off the scent. Their resemblance was close enough even to fool fellow members of Hizballah.
With Safi Al-Din's appointment to the South Lebanese command, Tehran has deployed a troika for running the next war with Israel on its behalf: Nasrallah, his cousin and their direct controller, Iran's own Al Qods Brigades officer Gen. Hossein Mahadavi.

Bombs kill Iran nuclear scientist

November 29, 2010    Monday

Attackers on motorcycles attached devices to car windows of 2 academics.
Separate but identical bomb attacks killed a prominent Iranian nuclear scientist and wounded another in the capital, Tehran, Iran's state TV reported on Monday.
Attackers riding on motorcycles attached bombs to the car windows of the scientists as they were driving to their workplaces on Monday morning, according to the state television website.

One bomb killed Majid Shahriari, a member of the nuclear engineering faculty at the Tehran University, and wounded his wife.
The second blast seriously wounded nuclear physicist Fereidoun Abbasi.
"Majid Shahriari was martyred and his wife was injured ... Fereidoun Abbasi and his wife were both wounded," Iranian state radio reported.

At least two other Iranian nuclear scientists have been killed in recent years. Iran has said it suspects the attacks were part of a covert attempt by the West to undermine the country's nuclear program.
Tehran says its atomic program is purely peaceful, but suspicions that it is seeking nuclear weapons have led to the imposition of several rounds of international sanctions by the United Nations, the European Union and the United States.

Blast in Tehran kills one Iranian nuclear scientist
DEBKAfile Exclusive Report November 29, 2010
Two Iranian nuclear scientists employed at the Bassij Forces Beheshti University in North Tehran were blown up on in two coordinated blasts on their way to work early Monday, Nov. 29.
One was killed, the second injured, debkafile's exclusive Iranian sources report.  The authorities immediately accused US intelligence and the Israeli Mossad of responsibility.

The attacks occurred at 7.45 a.m. Iranian time, less than 12 hours after the WikiLeaks organization uncovered US diplomatic cables attesting to a proposal by
Mossad director Meir Dagan to overthrow the Islamic regime as one of the means of terminating its nuclear program. He proposed enlisting oppressed Iranian minority groups for the task like the Baluchis and their liberation movement, Jundallah

Our sources report from Iran that the death squads, mounted two each on two motorbikes, trailed the two scientists' cars, then speeded past them, attached explosives to their vehicles and were gone before they exploded.
The victims have been identified as Prof. Majid Shahriari, who died on the spot when his Peugeot 405 blew up shortly before he reached the university, and Prof. Feredoun Abbassi-Davani, driving a Peugeot 206. He and his wife survived the blast with serious injuries.

Prof. Davani was Dean of Students, a key political post at the university.
debkafile's intelligence sources note that this was the fifth attack directed at Iranian nuclear scientists in Tehran in two years.
None of the perpetrators were apprehended.  It may well have been the work of Jundallah, which recently began targeting nuclear scientists serving the hated regime and which two months ago reported the abduction of a scientist employed at the Isfahan nuclear facility.
Tehran played down that incident claiming the kidnapped man was a driver. But last week he appeared on the Saudi TV station Al Arabiya and described his nuclear work.

IRAN Now Controls Lebanon
November 30, 2010  Lebanese PM Hariri opens door to Iran-HELLzballah takeover of Lebanon
Nov. 29 Lebanese Prime Minister Saad Hariri ended his visit to Tehran, with consent for Iranian Revolutionary Guards to take part in coordinating Lebanese and Hizballah commanders.
Hariri met with Iran President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

debkafile's military sources note that, since Hizballah's top military echelon in Lebanon functions under the operational orders of the joint Iranian-Syrian headquarters in Damascus, so too will the Lebanese army. Therefore, Hariri's concession in Tehran opened the door to the IRGC moving in on the Lebanese army.

Khamenei greeted the Lebanese Prime Minister with his new instructions: "You should consolidate relations with Hizballah," he said, explaining: "As long as the occupying Zionist regime exists, Lebanon needs Resistance (a euphemism for Hizballah)."
The supreme leader did not mention the Lebanon's national army forces as a factor in these instructions because, in his mind, Hariri's concession had already waived its autonomy and accepted the inevitability of its merger with Hizballah as a unified force under the latter's superior command.

Ayatollah Khamenei's last remark to his Lebanon visitor was loaded with menace: "If the government and the Resistance form part of the same front, this country will follow the path of greatness and development, and the Zionist regime will not be able to do it the least harm."
And if not? Hariri was given to understand that if Lebanon toes the Iranian-Hizballah line, he and his country will prosper and live in peace. But if not, Lebanon faces the alternative of deathly domestic struggle ending in the triumph of the Hizballah "Resistance."

Iran announces subsidy cuts
December  19,  2010
Policemen appear at major intersections in Iran's capital Tehran, in apparent anticipation of unrest as gov't cuts subsidies
Iran's president on Saturday announced the start of a plan to slash energy and food subsidies, part of government efforts to boost the country's ailing economy.

In an interview with state television, Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said the deep cuts to the subsidies "will start beginning Sunday," and vowed to fully cut all subsidies by the end of his term in 2013.
The cuts come as Iran remains deadlocked with the U.S. and its allies over Tehran's disputed nuclear program. The U.N. Security Council slapped a fourth round of sanctions on Iran last summer over its refusal to halt uranium enrichment, and there are signs those penalties are taking a toll on the nation's economy.

Still, Iran had planned to slash subsidies before the latest sanctions took effect, and Ahmadinejad and his allies have long insisted the country's oil-based economy could no longer afford the largesse. Tehran says it is paying some $100 billion in subsidies annually, although experts believe the amount is about $30 billion.

After the president announced the cuts, long lines of cars were seen at several gas stations in Tehran as Iranians rushed to fill their tanks at subsidized prices before the new ones took effect at midnight.
Under the new rationing system, each person with a fuel card has to pay 4,000 rials (40 cents) per liter of gas, up from 10 cents per liter. Fuel beyond a person's quota is now sold at 70 cents per liter, up from 40 cents.

When the government first imposed the rationing system in 2007, riots broke out in Tehran and angry protesters set dozens of gas stations on fire. On Saturday, thousands of police in riot gear were stationed at gas stations to protect them from possible rioters, while police were also seen patrolling streets and guarding banks. There were no reports of violence.
Ahmadinejad also said his government was paying $4 billion in bread subsidies. That, too, is now being phased out.

slash subsidies could stoke inflation unofficially estimated to be over 20 percent. The cuts also are widely seen as placing added burdens on Iranians, whose country is already weighed down by sanctions.
The government says cutting subsidies, known as the Subsidy Smart Plan, will return part of the money obtained from increased prices to the people through cash payments. It has already paid nearly $15 billion into bank accounts of some 20 million families in the country as compensation ahead of the cuts.

Iran's cut in fuel and food aid raises protest fears
Motorists at Iran petrol station Car drivers in Iran began queuing for petrol as soon as the cuts were announced
Iran has cut energy and food subsidies, risking a repeat of angry protests which followed fuel rationing in 2007.

The cuts, introduced on Sunday, mean a four-fold rise in the price of petrol and reduced subsidies for bread.
Each car will get 60 litres of fuel per month at a subsidised price of 40 cents per litre, up from 10 cents per litre.
Iran, whose fragile economy has been hit by United Nations' sanctions, has said it pays about $100bn (£64bn) in subsidies annually.
In 2007, protesters set alight dozens of petrol stations after the system of fuel rationing was introduced.

News agency reports on Sunday said that there was a heavy policy presence in the capital Tehran, but there were no reports of trouble.
Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Saturday that the cuts in subsidies were the "biggest surgery" to the economy in 50 years.
Ahmadinejad also said his government was paying $4bn in bread subsidies, which are being gradually phased out.

Iran corruption claims stoke political infighting
Dec 2010
DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – Corruption charges against one of Mahmoud Ahmadinejad's most trusted political advisers provided the latest evidence of deep rifts within the Iranian president's own conservative political camp.
The challenge by Ahmadinejad's rivals — one of them the head of the judiciary — could set the tone for a bitter fight leading up to the next big political moment in Iran, parliamentary elections less than a year away.
"This case isn't going to bring down Ahmadinejad, but it may get very ugly," said Abdulkhaleq Abdulla, a regional political analyst at Emirates University. "It's a commentary on the troubled state of Iranian politics at the moment."

Ahmadinejad has faced a growing internal backlash from conservative leaders — including influential parliament speaker Ali Larijani. They are upset by the president's combative nature and deepening links with the vast military-economic network run by the Revolutionary Guard, Iran's most powerful force which led the crackdown on the reformist movement after Ahmadinejad's disputed re-election last year.

The political infighting escalated earlier this month when Ahmadinejad suddenly dismissed his longtime foreign minister, Manouchehr Mottaki, a close ally of Larijani. Many lawmakers and others denounced the move as further evidence of Ahmadinejad's steamrolling style. He dumped Mottaki in apparent retaliation for disagreements that included control over foreign ministry posts.

Shortly after Mottaki's firing, the judiciary headed by Larijani's brother announced the corruption allegations against First Vice President Mohammad Reza Rahimi.
The charges could do more damage to Ahmadinejad and the reputation he has cultivated as aloof from Iran's powerful financial clans and foundations, many run by the Revolutionary Guard.
The developments revealed the increasingly complex political maneuvering within the Islamic Republic as it struggles with economic sanctions and growing international pressure to curb its production of nuclear fuel.

The judiciary last week said Rahimi is facing corruption charges that need to be investigated and will have to stand trial. The details of the accusations against him have not been made public since. Rahimi quickly denied the charges and was expected to present his side at a news conference, possibly later this week.

On Monday, Ahmadinejad's office came to Rahimi's defense, saying that his complaints against the accusations should be investigated, the official Islamic Republic News Agency reported.

But the rumblings have been coming for months against Rahimi, whose position as the top of 12 vice presidents gives him authority to meet visiting prime ministers and other dignitaries and lead Cabinet meetings in Ahmadinejad's absence.

Some of Ahmadinejad's political foes have frequently taken pot shots at Rahimi with allegations of financial misdeeds since a major government-linked embezzlement probe opened in April. At the time, conservative lawmaker Elias Naderan calling Rahimi the "leader of the corruption circle."

Now, a full-scale investigation and possible trial could become a high-stakes proxy clash between Ahmadinejad and Larijani and his backers, who include his brother, judiciary chief Ayatollah Sadeq Larijani.
The immediate battles may be sporadic because all of Iran's political establishment is currently engrossed in painful steps to trim government subsidies, which has already pushed fuel prices up to 400 percent higher.

The economic shock has brought waves of complaints against the government from all sides. Reformists have claimed the billions saved on subsidies will be funneled back to help boost Ahmadinejad and the Revolutionary Guard. Even some hard-liners — Ahmadinejad's political base — have said the price hikes are too fast and too steep.

The rifts point to the next big political test in Iran — parliamentary elections in early 2012. The races will mark the first major balloting since the accusations of vote-rigging after Ahmadinejad's June 2009 victory plunged Iran into its worst internal chaos since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.

It's still uncertain whether the opposition movement can rebound in some form for the parliamentary campaign. But there's little doubt that Larijani and his allies will make a run.

A strong showing would have the twin effect of embarrassing Ahmadinejad and sending a message to the ruling clerics, who have the final word on the candidates for the 2013 presidential election to replace lame duck Ahmadinejad.

"It is unlikely the (Rahimi) dispute will have particular repercussions in the short term," said Hamid Reza Shokouhi, a political analyst in Tehran. "But its impact will be seen in the next parliamentary elections."

It does, however, show Ahmadinejad's shrinking political coterie.
"Supporters of Ahmadinejad are ... a limited group now," said Shokouhi.
But still a very formidable one.

Ahmadinejad continues to enjoy support from the two most potent forces in Iran: the Revolutionary Guard and Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who controls the theocracy and its almost limitless powers.
This has been enough to intimidate Ahmadinejad's opponents from going too far. The lines, however, keep shifting in favor of bolder political challenges.

On Sunday, former foreign minister Mottaki was praised in a statement by 260 parliament members — all but 30 — in a direct slap against Ahmadinejad. Last month, dozens of lawmakers signed a petition seeking bring Ahmadinejad into the chamber for questioning over complaints including fiscal mismanagement.

The effort apparently sputtered before getting enough signatures, but it reinforced the sense that Ahmadinejad can be pressured openly without facing the wrath of the supreme leader.

"The fact that Rahimi is being attacked so publicly by conservatives — and even some hard-liners — suggests the political temperature is heating up," said Shadi Hamid, a researcher on Gulf affairs at The Brookings Doha Center in Qatar.

A showdown over Rahimi could also feed into the claims that Ahmadinejad is increasingly embattled and trying to surround himself with staunch loyalists.
Rahimi was appointed as one of Iran's 12 vice presidents in 2005 and rose to the top spot last year. He has taken part in sensitive political meetings, such as visits by Chinese officials.

Last summer, he called the U.S. dollar and euro "dirty" after Iran threatened to stop selling oil in the currencies to protest economic sanctions. He also called Australians "a bunch of cattlemen" and said South Korea "needed to be slapped" after both nations backed sanctions.

Iran says January nuclear talks historic opportunity
Dec 2010
ISTANBUL (Reuters) – Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said on Thursday talks with major powers in Istanbul next month would be a historic opportunity to resolve the nuclear dispute if the West dropped what he called its policy of confrontation.

Iran's agreement to hold the Istanbul talks over its nuclear program with Britain, China, France, Germany, Russia and the United States was the only tangible result of a meeting in Geneva this month. But hopes for a breakthrough are slight.

"We hope the Istanbul meeting becomes a good meeting with lasting results," Ahmadinejad told a news conference in Istanbul at the close of a regional summit ahead of the January talks.
"It will be a very important meeting ... an historic opportunity to change (the policy of) confrontation to interaction and cooperation ... It will be in everybody's interest," he said.

The United Nations imposed a fourth set of sanctions on Iran in June over Iran's refusal to halt the enrichment of uranium. The United States and European Union followed up by adding their own sanctions targeting financial transactions with Iran and the country's vital oil and gas sector.

The big powers want Iran to halt its uranium enrichment program, which they suspect is a cover for an effort to build a nuclear arsenal. Iran says it has the right to enrich uranium for civilian use and does not want atomic weaponry.

"Iran's nuclear path is irreversible," Ahmadinejad said. The United States and its allies, he said, "have unsuccessfully tried to violate our obvious right."
"Sanctions have no impact on Iran's decision-making process ... and sanctions have always failed ... Our enemies cannot harm our very strong economy by imposing sanctions on Iran."

Despite Iran's insistence, political analysts say the unexpected severity of the economic measures is an important factor in bringing Tehran back to talks which it abandoned for more than a year before the meeting in Geneva.
Ahmadinejad joined leaders from Pakistan, Afghanistan and Central Asian states in Turkey for a summit of the 10-member Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO).

Turkey has transformed itself from a financial basket case on the periphery of Europe a decade ago, into one of the world's best-performing economies which now stakes a claim to a regional leadership role.
Turkey's governing AK Party, which emerged from a series of banned Islamist movements, has reached out to the likes of Iran, Syria and the Palestinian movement Hamas, and stood up to U.S. ally Israel, enhancing Erdogan's popularity in the Middle East.

That has alarmed some in the United States who would like to see its NATO ally lining up behind its plan of isolating the Islamic Republic, but it has also given Turkey, in Iran's eyes, the credibility to act a mediator in the nuclear dispute.
Iran will draw comfort from the Turkish presence in the talks next month, even as mere hosts.
"We will do everything we can," Turkish Foreign Minister Ahmet Davutoglu told reporters. "But our role is clear. We are hosts. If the sides want it, of course we are ready to provide every kind of help."

Iran Nuke Test in North Korea
January 1, 2011
North Korea may be setting up a nuclear test on Iran's behalf.
A large group of Iranian nuclear scientists and technicians has been spotted in the last few days at North Korea's nuclear center at Yongbyon.
At first they were examining the new, extra-fast centrifuges for enriching uranium North Korea had showed off to America visitors in November.
But they thought again when some Iranians visited NKorea's Punggye-ri testing site near the Chinese border.

US and South Korean suspect they plan a joint North Korea-Iranian nuclear test.
Iran brought a large sum of money with them estimated at $150 million, fee for staging a nuclear test on Tehran's behalf.

Dec. 2 France strongly urged Obama to get tough militarily with North Korea.
Tehran has engaged the world powers in talks on its nuclear program solely to play for time until North Korea's assistance kicked in.
Iran testing in North Korea would defeat the enforcement of international sanctions.
Stuxnet worm (my guess) disabled Iran's nuclear weapons capability, North Korea is the only outsider with the ability and will to help Iran.

Iran passenger plane crashes killing 70
January 9, 2011
-  70 dead, 32 survive but are injured as IranAir jet crashes on landing.  Plane broke apart but no fire reported; heavy snow hampering rescue efforts

The IranAir plane crashed in bad weather, and snow was hampering rescue efforts.
The plane came down near Orumiyeh, 700km (430 miles) north-west of Tehran, at around 1945 local time (1615 GMT), an official in West Azerbaijan province said earlier, quoted on Iranian state television's website.

There have been a number of accidents involving Iranian planes over the last few years.
Its civil fleet is made up of old planes in poor condition due to their age and lack of maintenance.

Last July a passenger plane burst into flames while landing in Mashhad, killing 17 passengers.
Ten days earlier, a Tupolev plane had caught fire mid-air and crashed in northern Iran, killing all 168 people on board.
That incident was the third deadly crash of a Tupolev 154 in Iran since 2002.

IRAN Warships to sail Mediterranean
January 23, 2011
Iranian warships coming to Mediterranean and Red Seas
Less than 24 hours after the breakdown of its nuclear dialogue with the six world powers in Istanbul, Iran announced plans to send a fleet of warships on intelligence-gathering missions to the Red Sea and on to the Mediterranean through the Suez Canal.
Some ships to be deployed around Israeli shores.  Iran recently purchased 3 submarines from Russia and is using them in the Persian Gulf.

Tehran is taking advantage of the lack of military and diplomatic momentum on the part of US and Israel for a naval thrust to expand its range of operations and encroach on their areas of control.

Iran opposition calls for rally
February 13, 2011
An Iranian reformist website says the opposition is defying a government warning and calling on people to stage a rally in solidarity with Tunisian and Egyptian protesters.
Kaleme.com published a statement Sunday by a council of opposition groups inviting people to attend a peaceful rally on Monday.
Tunesia and Egypt have fallen in January and February, who next?
Jordan and Yemen are in the cross hairs, and Sudan (south of Egypt) is troubled.

Iran arrests opposition
February 14, 2011  Scores of Iranian security forces were on the streets of Tehran on Monday to prevent a planned opposition rally in solidarity with popular uprisings in Egypt and Tunisia that toppled their presidents, witnesses said.
Iranian authorities refused a request by opposition leaders Mirhossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi to stage the rally to prevent a revival of anti-government mass protests that shook the country after a disputed presidential vote in 2009
Iranian authorities have placed opposition leader Mir Hussein Mousavi under house arrest ahead of a mass rally scheduled to take place in Tehran later on Monday.

1 Killed, Dozens Injured in Protests
February 15, 2011
Iranian police have confirmed that one person was killed during clashes between security forces and protesters.
The official IRNA news agency on Tuesday quotes acting police commander Gen. Ahmad Reza Radan as saying dozens of people, including nine members of the security forces, also were wounded in Monday's protests.
Radan says one of the injured is in critical condition.
He also said several people were arrested, but did not say how many.
Radan blamed the violence on the Iraq-based Iranian opposition group, MEK. He provided no proof to back up his claim.

On Monday, tens of thousands of protesters clashed with police in Tehran during an opposition rally in support of the Egyptian uprising.
It was the opposition's first major show of strength in more than a year.

Iran cracks down
February 14, 2011  Iranian protesters hope to gather momentum
Iranian Basij heavies were still beating up thousands of anti-regime protesters who turned out in the streets of 30 cities during the day.
In Tehran, one demonstrator was shot dead and two injured.

It was the first substantial demonstration the opposition had managed to stage since their big rallies against the rigged presidential election of 2009.
They did not make a stand in one place but scattered across several city squares and outside the universities.
The organizers who used Facebook and Twitter to mobilize them adopted this tactic to make it harder to disperse them.
Smaller rallies, which also drew thousands, were staged in the big towns outside Tehran including Tabriz, Tazd, Ahwaz, Mashad, Shiraz and Isfahan.

They won support from an unexpected quarter: debkafile reports exclusively that Turkish President Abdallah Gul on the second day of his official visit to Tehran accepted a demonstrators' invitation to join them. He agreed, but when his guards asked Iranian security to lay on an escort for the convoy to bring Gul to the greet the crowds, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad stepped in. He told the security service to prevent the Turkish president getting anywhere near the demonstrators – even if this led to a diplomatic upset with Ankara. Gul gave up the plan, but the tension between him and Ahmadinejad was palpable when they addressed a joint news conference later in the day and their appearance was cut short.
Notably, President Gul was one of the first world leaders to offer public support for the demonstrations in Egypt from the moment they began.

More predictably, US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton Monday expressed support for the tens of thousands of protesters in Iran's capital, saying they "deserve to have the same rights that they saw being played out in Egypt and are part of their own birthright." She spoke of the "hypocrisy" of the Iranian government that hailed the protests in Egypt but has tried to suppress opposition at home.

The slogans brandished by the demonstrators in Iran called for Freedom! Death to the Dictator! and "Mobarak, Ben-Ali, novbat-e-Seyyed-Ali!" They were telling Seyyed-Ali aka supreme ruler Ayatollah Ali Khamenei that it was his turn to go after the Egyptian and Tunisian rulers. Another sign read: "Not Gaza, not Lebanon, but Tunis, Egypt and Iran," an expression of contempt for Iran's meddling in Hizballah and Hamas affairs and its cost to the Iranian people.

According to our sources, demonstrators continued to gather in the streets of Tehran Monday night and shout anti-regime slogans. When chased away by security police, they regrouped in other places. A large crowd of warmly-dressed demonstrators were seen marching in the dark toward Azadi (Liberty) Square, hoping to barricade themselves there and carry on demonstrating Tuesday. But the police will never let them stay there.

During the day, opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mouosavi and Mehdi Karroubi were placed under house arrest, heavy security forces patrolled the streets of Tehran and shut down subway stations to prevent demonstrators from traveling to the city center. The regime also jammed satellite news stations and tried to block the Internet.

Iran will be Free! said son of Shah
Our time as a region has finally come, said Prince Reza Pahlavi, the son of the Shah of Iran.
The people (in Tehran) are now fighting to defend their freedom, totally unarmed, under a regime that is criminally repressive. The least we could do is to stand by them, tell them that they are not alone, that their voices have been heard, and my job here is to convey that message to everybody in the outside world.
His father was forced from power in 1979, but the similar popular forces that sparked the uprising in Egypt having failed so far, to dislodged the Islamic regime in Tehran.
But the prince ( RezaPahlavi.org ) is dedicated to his mission.
I am a firm believer in democracy and human rights, I believe in self-determination, and what we are facing today in my country is a regime that has been extremely repressive.

Iran roils Bahrain to stir Saudi revolts, executes protesters in Iran
February 17, 2011 Tanks rolled into Pearl Square, Manama, early Thursday, Feb. 17, personally commanded by King Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa in full military regalia, hours after his police firing live ammunition and tear gas failed to break up the tent city set up by protesters against his rule. At least four protesters were killed and dozens injured.

The monarch has divided his small 9,000-strong army into three parts, one for Pearl Square, a second to guard the Bahrain Petroleum Co. refinery which produces 267,000 barrels of oil a day and forms the backbone of the Bahraini economy; and a third placed around the royal palace and the residential districts of the ruling elite.

Al-Khalifa has two major difficulties to crack: For the first time, the king's biggest Shiite party, al-Wefaq has joined up with all 10 opposition parties to coordinate their protest action. The Shiite party leader, Sheik Ali Salman, says he is not seeking to establish an Islamic regime in Manama like the one in Tehran.  debkafile's sources say he is after one-man rule for himself and his words are about as reliable as the pledges of Egypt's Muslim Brotherhood to eschew a role in government.

But the Bahraini ruler's most acute problem is that while the Arabic and world media lump the protest movement in his kingdom with the pro-democracy uprisings in Tunisia and Egypt, it is not the same in that it does not just represent genuine people power fighting an autocratic regime for reforms, but is fomented from Tehran.

Iran's objective is to overthrow the Al-Khalifa regime and replace it with the first pro-Iranian government in the Arabian Gulf region. A Shiite regime in Manama will stir the Shiite minorities to revolt in other oil-rich Gulf states - and especially in Saudi Arabia and Kuwait, where they make up around one-fifth of the population.

In Tehran itself, meanwhile, debkafile's Iranian sources report that President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad early Thursday conferred with Revolutionary Guards and Basij leaders on ways to further crack down on opposition protests after two days of harsh measures. Since Monday, 1,400 protesters have been arrested and their whereabouts are unknown. At least two died of bullet wounds.

The leaders of Iran's Islamic regime fear that the youngsters in Iranian cities will catch fire from the uprisings in Arab countries and be willing to fight for its overthrow.
As a key deterrent, an increase in the number of executions of dissidents was agreed between Ahmadinejad,

most of his aides, Prosecutor General  Mohseni-eEjehee, the commander Internal Security Forces, Mohammad Reza Radan Mohammad Reza Naghdi, and the ultra-radical Ayatollah Ahmad Jannati, Chairman of the Constitution Committee.
This measure later won the support of Ali Larijani, Speaker of the Majlis, who on Wednesday led 200 deputies in shouting for the two opposition Green Movement leaders Mir-Hossein Mousavi and Mehdi Karroubi to be put to death.
debkafile's sources report: In the coming days, the world will be shown millions of young Iranians pouring into the streets of Tehran and other cities shouting pro-government slogans - alongside the executions of dozens of young Iranian democracy-seekers.
By killing them, the regime will try and break the back of the Mousavi-Karroubi opposition movement. Judging on past form, they will not be deterred by international condemnation.

Iranian Warships to Pass Through Suez Canal

February 17, 2011  Iran Press TV reports that two Iranian warships were still en route to the Suez Canal, despite Israel expressing concern over their passage.
Iranian officials told state TV that they informed Cairo to secure the passage of the warships.
Egypt's Suez Canal Authority tells Reuters that it has not received notification from the Egyptian government that would allow the passage of the Iranian warships.
Israel was monitoring the vessels movements on Wednesday and warned it might act if the ships crossed through to the Mediterranean Sea.

Egypt has approved Iran warships to use Suez Canal
Feb 18 -  State media say Egypt has agreed to let 2 Iranian naval vessels transit the Suez Canal.
This would be first time since Iran's 1979 Islamic revolution that Iranian ships have used Suez; U.S. says they are monitoring the ships and criticize Iran's 'track record' in the region.
Egypt has approved the passage of two Iranian warships through the Suez Canal, a source said on Friday, a move that Foreign Minister Avigdor Lieberman described as "provocative".
"Egypt has agreed to the passage of two Iranian ships through the Suez Canal," the security source told Reuters.

State TV and the official news agency subsequently reported the news, without citing sources. An army source earlier said the Defense Ministry was considering a request by the Iranians to allow the naval ships to cross the strategic waterway.

Iran Regime Will Fall Soon
Saturday, 19 Feb 2011
 Bloomberg
Billionaire George Soros says Iran’s ruling regime will topple within the year, although he warns the situation there could become “very ugly” before this happens.
In an interview with CNN’s “Fareed Zakaria GPS” program, Soros said: “Opposition leaders could easily be killed through a false judicial process because the regime is fighting for its survival, because they know that they have committed such crimes that it’s either them or the people,” he said. “But I don’t think that they will be able to succeed.”
Soros also discussed the Middle East and praised President Barack Obama’s handing of the revolt in Egypt that led to the ousting of Egyptian autocrat Hosni Mubarak, according to a transcript of the interview released by CNN. The episode will air on Sunday.

US warships box in Iran warships
February 21, 2011
USS Enterprise parked opposite Iranian flotilla at Suez Canal entrance
The repeated delays about the 2 Iran warships transiting the Suez Canal to the Mediterranean is accounted for by a standoff between the Iran ships and 5 US warships deployed in recent days at the southern entrance of Suez and along its course.

Feb. 17 the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise, escorted by missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf and the fast supply ship USNS Arctic, headed south through the canal.
By Friday morning, they were through and taking up position opposite Iran's Kharg and Alvand missile destroyer waiting to enter the Suez Canal at the southern Red Sea entrance.

The USS Kearsarge aircraft carrier is posted opposite Ismailia with a large contingent of U.S. MARINES aboard.  Woo hoo!
The USS George Washington carrier and the USS Carl Vinson were deployed in the Gulf of Aden.  A battle of nerves is therefore underway.

IRAN found itself faced with the America naval might piling up in the Red Sea and Suez, and were not sure what would happen if they went forward with their mission to transit the Suez Canal for the Mediterranean for the first time in 30 years on their way to Syria.

The USS Abraham Lincoln carrier was transferred from Bahrain, headquarters of the US Fifth Fleet, to a point opposite the Iranian Gulf coast.
This is a warning to meddlers to keep their hands off the revolutions, uprisings and protests sweeping Arab nations.
Yeah, only Obama can tell leaders what to do.  mmppfff.
Obama wont give Bahrain to Iran.

If Iran ships move through the canal, we will evaluate what they actually do. It's about what the ships are carrying, their destination, what's the cargo on board, where is it going, to whom and why?  Debka claims the Kharg is carrying long-range surface missiles for Hellzballah.  It prabably is!  If ships sail into the Suez Canal, the U.S.A. may demand their cargoes be inspected.
Feb. 22, will be a testing moment.

Israel was keeping an eye Tuesday on two Iranian Navy warships that crossed the Suez Canal for the first time in over 30 years in a belligerent move that Israel claims is an attempt by the Islamic Republic to project its power throughout the Middle East.

The two ships - the Khark which has 250 crew members and can carry three helicopters and the Alvand which is armed with torpedoes and anti-ship missiles – entered the Suez Canal early Tuesday morning and arrived in the Mediterranean Sea by the evening.

Israeli defense officials said that the ships did not pose a threat to the Israeli Navy which would be watching them from a distance and would not engage them. The Iranian ships will pass Israel at a distance as they make their way towards Syria where they are expected to dock for several months.

“This is a major provocation,” a senior defense official said. “We will keep an eye on the ships.”

The ships sailed through the canal en route to Syria in what Israeli officials say is a provocation by the Iranian regime. It's the first time Iranian military vessels have sailed into the Mediterranean since the 1979 Islamic Revolution. The ships reportedly paid about $300,000 in fees for the passage

IRAN, SYRIA SMUGGLING WEAPONS to GAZA, EGYPT
March 15, 2011  Israeli navy intercepts vessel carrying arms delivered by Iranian warships
Gaza-bound anti-ship missiles found on seized ship proves Egypt is now a dangerous enemy to Israel
Navy deputy commander says the anti-ship missiles were smuggled from Iran to Gaza terrorists, which could have been used to strike ships off Gaza coast.
Israel Navy forces found the missiles on board the German ship 'Victoria'
Weapons were smuggled from Iran to Syria where the ship collected them on its way to Turkey and then sailed to Egypt.
IDF commandos seized the Victoria without a struggle 200 nautical miles off Israeli coast, and towed it to the port in Ashdod.

The Israeli Navy intercepted the ship on its way from Turkey to Egypt.
The Liberian-flagged vessel was carrying a large consignment of weapons including C-704 shore-to-ship missiles etc bound for the Palestinian Hamas in Gaza.
The weapons were picked up at the Latakia Syria port after being offloaded there by the 2 Iran warships which transited the Suez Canal February 22.

Iranian navy ships entered the Mediterranean, US and Israeli warships and spy planes kept their movements under close surveillance:
Around Feb. 25-26, the Kharg was seen offloading a large batch of containers at Syrian Navy ordnance depots in Latakia port.
The Victoria docked there and was seen loading the containers delivered by the Iran warships at Latakia.
It now appears that the ship was instructed to detour to the Turkish port and wait there for a couple of days to disguise that Egypt was its real destination.

* UN Security Council report: Iran buying foreign banks, money-exchange bureaus to sidestep sanctions .

12 June, 2011   Jerusalem Post
Leaked report by the UNSC says Iran is circumventing sanctions through foreign money-exchange bureaus and banks.
Iran is trying to purchase foreign banks and money-exchange bureaus around the world in an effort to circumvent sanctions aimed at preventing the delivery of nuclear and missile components to it,
according to a report prepared for the UN Security Council.
The report was submitted three weeks ago to the Security Council by the UN Panel of Experts, a group that monitors compliance with UN sanctions imposed on Iran.

The report was leaked to the Internet and obtained by a number of leading Israeli-defense analysts.
The report found that Iran often uses money-exchange bureaus overseas to transfer money to, and then has it converted into dollars or euros.
The bureau then transfers the money to an intermediary bank – in places like Dubai and Turkey – and then to a bank in the manufacturer’s country.

“The end-user’s name does not appear on the transaction, so the ultimate recipient of funds is not aware they are coming from a sanctioned entity,” the report explained.
The experts also warned that Iran is attempting to build covert financial infrastructures to facilitate the deals it requires to continue its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

One country told the panel that Iran has made 10 different attempts to buy foreign banks since 2009, and has also tried setting up banking institutions in parts of South America.
To transfer the equipment purchased, Iran uses its fleet of cargo freighters, controlled by the stateowned IRISL shipping company.

The report revealed that between late 2008 and mid-2010, 76 out of 123 of IRISL’s vessels were renamed with many of the Farsi names replaced by English ones, and in some cases with new paint jobs. In addition, as of 2010, more than 70 percent of Iranian-owned vessels were registered in Malta, a wellknown flag of convenience.

The report urges the Security Council to enforce rigorous end-user checks and vigilance to the risk of re-export on the part of all exporters.
It stated that Iranian agents were already buying items that do not correspond with Iran’s current needs, out of concern that it will run into shortages in the future.

Iran fired two long-range missiles into the Indian Ocean right under the noses of the U.S.

9th July 2011   Daily Mail
A senior Revolutionary Guard commander has revealed Iran secretly conducted missile tests earlier this year as 'American spy planes' turned a blind eye.
Speaking on state TV Amir Ali Hajizadeh, the commander of the Guard's aerospace force, claimed Iranian rockets hit targets at the 'mouth of the Indian Ocean'.
It was an apparent reference to areas near the Strait of Hormouz at the southern end of the Gulf.

Iran's elite Revolutionary Guards tested a Shahab-3 ballistic missile
Hajizadeh said two missiles with ranges of 1,140m were fired from Semnan province in northern Iran during the Iranian month of Bahman, which runs from January 21 to February 19.
He added: 'This took place with the Americans present in the area ... We allowed the American spy planes to be in the area but so far they have not said anything about it.'
The commander gave no further details, but at maximum range the missiles could have reached deep into the Arabian Sea.
Hajizadeh also threatened U.S. aircraft carriers saying the 'moving targets' would be fired at if Iran came under attack.

Let's light her up one last time! Atlantis overcomes a shaky launch to become the final Nasa shuttle to blast into space

In April, the commander of the Revolutionary Guard said Iran's arsenal is capable of striking 'remote regions outside the Persian Gulf'.
Iran says its longest-range missiles, Shahab-3 and Sajjil-2, can travel up to 1,240m - putting Israel, U.S. bases in the Gulf region and parts Europe within reach.
Meanwhile, Iran has tried to project its military might outside the Gulf, where the U.S. has several air bases and the home port of the Navy's 5th Fleet in Bahrain.
Iran has said its missiles can reach Israel and U.S. military bases in the region.
'Moving target': The USS Carl Vinson aircraft carrier steaming on the Arabian sea
Two Iranian warships entered the Mediterranean in February for the first time since the 1979 Islamic Revolution, and an Iranian submarine returned this week after a journey that included the Red Sea.
Hajizadeh also claimed Iran has acquired technology to build supersonic surface-to-sea missiles.
He didn't elaborate, but defence analysts believe China has helped develop the anti-ship weapons.
Iran also says it has the ability to produce missiles with an even greater range than those currently in its arsenal, but won't manufacture them because Israel and U.S. bases are already within reach.
Last month, Foreign Secretary William Hague told the House of Commons Iran has conducted covert tests of ballistic missiles since October in addition to the publicly announced military manoeuvers.
Hajizadeh only confirmed that missile tests were carried out. It was not clear if the covert tests in February were the same as claimed by Hague.
The Islamic Republic remains locked in a stand-off with the West over its nuclear program, which the U.S. and its allies suspect is aimed at developing atomic weapons.
Iran denies the charges, and says the program is only for peaceful purposes.
Iran conducts several war games every year as part of its military self-sufficiency program that started in 1992, and frequently unveils new weapons and military systems during the drills.

Iran Opens Oil Bourse - Harbinger Of Trouble For New York And London?

The last three years of global recession have dealt a major blow to American capitalist ideas trumpeted throughout the world on the value of “free markets.” Wall St has been revealed as a form of casino economy, with the bankster insiders gambling with other people’s, and eventually, the government’s money in the form of bailouts. As the Republicans in Congress, scenting victory in the 2012 presidential elections, hold a gun to the Obama administration’s head and rating agencies consider downgrading U.S. government bonds in light of Washington’s possible defaulting, many ideas around the world that previously seemed implausible because of the dominance of the U.S. economy are garnering renewed interest.

Not surprisingly, many of these concepts originate in countries not enamored with Washington’s influence, perhaps none so more than “Axis of Evil” charter member Iran, which has seen its economy hammered by more than three decades of U.S.-led sanctions. Now Iran is working a program, that, if it succeeds, could help undermine the dollar’s preeminence as the world’s reserve currency more effectively than a Republican filibuster.

Iran’s sly weapon against the Great Satan’s currency? An oil bourse on Kish Island in the Persian Gulf, which has now begun selling high-grade Iranian crude oil.

Mohsen Qamsari, deputy director for international affairs of the Iranian National Oil Company was modest about the exchange’s initial capabilities, saying, "The commodity stock exchange has been pursuing a mechanism for offering crude oil on the stock exchange for a long time, and it has taken the preliminary steps, to the extent possible. Considering the existing banking problems, foreign customers are not expected to be taking part in the first phase of offering crude oil on the stock exchange, and this will be done on a trial basis. Today Bahregan heavy, high quality, low sulfur crude oil with less sourness will be offered on the stock exchange for the first time. In the first phase, a 600,000 barrel shipment will be offered."

Given that the world currently consumes roughly 83 million barrels of crude oil each day, the initial oil offerings at the Iranian stock exchange are hardly going to make or break the market, but they do represent an attempt by a significant oil producer to divert revenue streams from New York Mercantile Exchange, the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange, which handles West Texas Intermediate benchmark futures, and London's Intercontinental Exchange, which deals in North Sea Brent. All trades are in dollars, effectively giving the U.S. currency a monopoly.

The Kish Exchange dates back to February 2008, when instead of Tehran, Kish was chosen because it had designated as a free trade zone. The Exchange was set up to trade contracts in euros, Iranian rials and a basket of other currencies other than dollars. The previous year, Iran had requested that its petroleum customers pay in non-dollar currencies. But the Exchange initially traded contracts only for oil-derived products, such as those used as feedstocks for plastics and pharmaceuticals.  Now the institution has taken the next step.

Even as Congress remains tone-deaf to the recession’s effect on American jobs and the economy, others have taken careful note. On 17 June 2008, addressing the 29th meeting of the Council of Ministers of the OPEC Fund for International Development in the Iranian city of Isfahan, Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad told those in attendance, "The fall in the value of the dollar is one of the biggest problems facing the world today. The damage caused by this has already affected the global economy, particularly those of the energy-exporting countries. ... Therefore, I repeat my earlier suggestion, that a combination of the world's valid currencies should become a basis for oil transactions, or (OPEC) member countries should determine a new currency for oil transactions."

What it would take for Iran’s new exchange to survive and flourish are some heavy-duty customers that Washington would be wary of picking a fight with, and Tehran already has one – China.

China, the world's largest buyer of Iranian crude oil, has renewed its annual import pacts for 2011. In 2010 Iran supplied about 12 percent of China's total crude imports. According to the latest report of the China Customs Organization, Iran's total oil exports to China stood at 8.549 million tons between January and April 2011, up 32 percent compared with the same period last year. Iran is currently China's third largest supplier of crude oil, providing China with nearly one million barrels per day.

China simply ignores Washington’s squeals about sanctions, but it is concerned about the bottom line, and unless Iran makes its oil prices more attractive versus competing supplies from the rest of the Middle East or South American exporters, it may be hard for the OPEC member to boost its share in the rapidly expanding Chinese market.

Enter the Kish Exchange.

China's Ambassador to Tehran Yu Hung Yang, addressing the Iran-China trade conference in Tehran on Monday, said that the value of the two countries' trade exchanges surged 55 percent during the first four months of 2011 over the same period a year ago to $13.28 billion and further predicted that the figure would surpass $40 billion by the end of the year.

So much for sanctions, eh?

So, while Washington prepares to commit political hara-kiri, Iran is preparing to take away a little of the capitalist glow from New York and London. If the Chinese decide to start paying for their Iranian purchases strictly in yuan, expect the trickle away from the dollar in energy pricing to become a stampede. That ought to give Washington politicos an issue to think about besides gay marriage.

Iran warns Israelis they should flee or face annihilation

8/15/11
Iran is warning Israel that its citizens should flee the Middle East or face annihilation.
The chief commander of Iran's Basiji forces, Brig. Gen. Mohammad-Reza Naghdi, recently stated that Iran has no option but to destroy Israel. Ratcheting up the war of words, Naghdi is now threatening Israelis in the "occupied lands" that they are surrounded by mujahedeen of Islam bent on their destruction.

"I quote our supreme leader, Imam Khamenei, who clearly stated during the recent gathering of the leadership's elite that Zionists are now encircled by those who are willing to wage jihad for Islam, and that those concerned for their safety and well-being should quickly go back to the countries they left behind," Naghdi told the Fars News agency, the media outlet for the Revolutionary Guards.

When asked by the Fars News reporter about what he called empty threats by the Zionist government against Muslims, Naghdi responded: "(Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin) Netanyahu and the Zionists don't even have the capability to keep the Hamas mujahedeen in check, let alone take it upon themselves to devise plans and plots for Muslims elsewhere. Our response to all the threats is that the heads of the Zionist government and Mr. Netanyahu should prepare themselves for the cage (prison)."

Egyptian thugs attack, burn Israeli Embassy
September 10, 2011  -  If Israel believes the former peace with Egypt will go on, they are crazy.  Egypt is salivating to attack Israel like a mad dog.
And so is the world press.  Egypt is NOT safe for tourists!

Cairo Muslim Brotherhood mob ransack, torch Israeli embassy. Ambassador flown out.
Bahrain's foreign minister, Sheik Haled Halifa, condemned the attack on the Israeli Embassy in Cairo.

Thousands of Muslim Brotherhood thugs using sledgehammers smashed through the wall enclosing the building broke in and
dumped the flag and hundreds of documents through the windows.  Egyptian forces failed to stop them.
Egypt is not preventing the killing of christians there either.

Egyptian thugs stole classified papers.

Ambassador, his family and 80 embassy staff were taken from their homes to Cairo airport and flown home aboard by two Israeli military planes.
6 Israeli security officers remained on guard until morning and were rescued from a room with steel doors by
Egyptian commandos who drove them to the airport in an armored car.
The attack came 2 days before a visit by Turkish PM Erdogan to Cairo to plot jihad on Israel.

Israel Sensing a Wider Siege
9/11/11 -  With its Cairo embassy ransacked, its ambassador to Turkey expelled and the Palestinians seeking statehood recognition at the United Nations, Israel found itself on Saturday increasingly isolated and grappling with a radically transformed Middle East where it believes its options are limited and poor.

The diplomatic crisis, in which winds unleashed by the Arab Spring are now casting a chill over the region, was crystallized by the scene of Israeli military jets sweeping into Cairo at dawn on Saturday to evacuate diplomats after the Israeli Embassy had been besieged by thousands of protesters.

It was an image that reminded some Israelis of Iran in 1979, when Israel evacuated its embassy in Tehran after the revolution there replaced an ally with an implacable foe.

US Gives Israel Green Light For Iran Strike
October 13, 2011  Paul Joseph Watson
Fabricated terror plot provides pretext for intervention following Panetta’s October 3 Tel Aviv visit
The Obama administration’s fabricated terror plot blamed on Iran represents the green light for an Israeli attack on Iran set to take place within the next two weeks, according to confidential military sources who spoke with Alex Jones.

Israel is concerned that major powers like Germany are moving closer to smoothing relations with Iran and allowing Iran to continue its nuclear enrichment program unimpeded. A two month window has been allocated during which Israel has the opportunity to launch a military assault, waiting until winter when the attack will be more difficult to pull off is not an option.

US Defense Secretary Leon Panetta’s October 3 Tel Aviv visit was used by Israeli hawks to convince the United States that it should green light the attack. Less than 10 days later, a fanciful terror plot involving a used car salesman was invented to implicate Iran and create the pretext for a military assault.

“In recent weeks, intense discussions have taken place in Israeli military and intelligence circles about whether or not to launch a military strike against Iran’s nuclear facilities. Apparently, the key question in the debate was how to ensure that the United States took part in the attack or, at the very least, intervened on Israel’s side if the initial strike triggered a wider war,” writes Patrick Seale of Gulf News.
That intervention has now been mandated by the announcement of the fabricated terror plot, which was actually concocted last month but only made public now.

While U.S. intelligence officials prepare to release claims about a “chain” of plots that will be blamed on Iran, Time Magazine reports that the Obama administration is preparing to use the accusations to take action beyond mere isolation tactics.

“If the Administration fails to win support for a significant escalation of sanctions or other forms of punishment for the Tehran regime after presenting evidence of the latest allegations of Iranian malfeasance, the ball will land back in Obama’s court,” writes Tony Karon. “Having made the case that Iran has crossed a red line, he will be under growing pressure to act — or risk entering a highly polarized election season haunted by a “soft on Iran” charge.”

With neo-cons rushing to support aggressive measures against Iran, Obama will now be given right cover to pursue yet another act of regime change. As we postulated back in February last year, Obama is being blackmailed into supporting an attack on Iran as the only way to save his presidency. We also speculated that an assassination attempt would be used as the pretext to implicate Iran.

Geopolitical experts have been consistent in their warnings that Israel was preparing to strike Iran this fall.
Back in July, 21-year CIA veteran Robert Baer told KPFK Los Angeles that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu was planning an attack on Iran in September to coincide with the Palestine bid for UN membership.

Speaking with the Alex Jones Show today, former State Department official Steve Pieczenik, who has numerous inside intelligence sources having worked in several sensitive positions during the course of his career, also indicated that the terror plot was completely fabricated and that it would be used a pretext to justify a military strike against Iran.
Pieczenik also pointed out that Israel had recently taken delivery of a large amount of bunker buster missiles.

As we have documented, the alleged assassination plot against Saudi Ambassador Adel al-Jubeir, which is now being cited by everyone from John Kerry to John McCain as a justification for a potential military strike, is a complete fantasy.
Retired U.S. Army Lieutenant Colonel Anthony Shaffer has revealed that an FBI insider with a high security clearance told him no records whatsoever detailing the plot existed within FBI channels, clearly indicating the whole episode was manufactured.

IRAN attacked by another computer virus
Tehran claims to have Duqu malware virus similar to Stuxnet, under control
Iran said it found a way to control the computer malware Duqu, which is similar to Stuxnet virus which in 2010 attacked its nuclear program and infected thousands of computers.
Duqu infections have been reported in a dozen countries including Iran, France, Britain and India.
The virus takes advantage of a windows vulnerability to plant malicious code in the heart of a computer system.

Similarities between Duqu and a malicious Stuxnet worm have prompted speculation that the same culprits might be involved, though no links have been proven.
Duqu is similar to Stuxnet but is designed to gather intelligence for future attacks on industrial control systems.
Stuxnet was designed to attack computer control systems made by German industrial giant Siemens and commonly used to manage water supplies, oil rigs, power plants and other critical infrastructure.
Most Stuxnet infections have been discovered in Iran, giving rise to speculation it was intended to sabotage nuclear facilities there. The worm was crafted to recognize the system it was designed to attack.

UK orders banks to halt Iran business
http://www.ynetnews.com/Ext/Comp/...tPreview/1,2506,L-4151368,00.html

Britain orders financial institutions to freeze transaction with Iranian counterparts; US expected to follow suit
Britain ordered its financial institutions on Monday to halt all business with Iranian counterparts, including the central bank, and the United States is also expected to tighten sanctions over Tehran's nuclear program.

The British move however will not target trade in Iranian oil, a source familiar with the sanctions said. It also appeared unlikely that the US Treasury would try to cut off the Iranian banking system entirely, a move that could disrupt global energy markets and harm the US economic recovery.
Britain said the sanctions were in response to the International Atomic Energy Agency's (IAEA) latest report on Iran, which highlighted fresh concerns about possible military dimensions of Tehran's nuclear program.

"We believe that the Iranian regime's actions pose a significant threat to the UK's national security and the international community. Today's announcement is a further step to preventing the Iranian regime from acquiring nuclear weapons," said British finance minister George Osborne.
In Washington, a US official said the Treasury Department planned to designate Iran as an area of "primary money laundering concern" on Monday, a move allowing it to take steps to isolate the Iranian financial sector further.

Gulf Arabs fortifying themselves against Iran
The Wall Street Journal reported on Friday that the Pentagon is planning to sell thousands of advanced "bunker-busting" bombs to the United Arab Emirates as part of efforts to contain Iran. The munitions would be ideal for an attack on the system of bunkers, tunnels and other facilities believed to be hiding Iran’s renegade nuclear program, and are designed to be used with the UAE’s US built attack aircraft. The report marks the latest effort by the Obama administration to bolster regional allies in an effort to contain Iran. The report came a day before another report in the UAE press that the country’s air force was looking to make massive upgrades in its air defense and missile programs to deal with an "emerging missile threat," according to Maj. Gen. Ibrahim Naser Al Alawi. Also over the weekend, police in Bahrain rolled up a cell of operatives it claimed were infiltrators sent by Iran to attack government instillations.

Explosion rocks Iran city of Isfahan, home to key nuclear facility

November 28, 2011
Semi-official Fars news agency says blast heard distinctly in several parts of the western Iran city;
a uranium conversion plant near Isfahan went online in 2004.

A explosion rocked the western Iranian city of Isfahan on Monday, the semi-official Fars news agency reported, adding that the blast was heard in several parts of the city.
The reported incident occurred about two weeks after Gen. Hasan Tehrani Moghaddam was killed together with 20 other Guard members Nov. 12 at a military site outside Bidganeh village, 40 kilometers southwest of Tehran.

The Revolutionary Guard said the accidental explosion occurred while military personnel were transporting munitions.
It should be noted that Iran operates a uranium conversion plant near Isfahan, one with an important function in the chain of Iran's nuclear program.

It first went into operation in 2004, taking uranium from mines and producing uranium fluoride gas, which then feeds the centrifuges that enrich the uranium.
Since 2004, thousands of kilograms of uranium flouride gas were stockpiled at Isfahan and subsequently sent to the enrichment plant in Natanz.

Iranian protesters enter UK compound in Tehran
http://www.reuters.com/article/20...ain-embassy-idUSTRE7AS0X720111129

Nov,  29/11  This was ORGANIZED   (Reuters)
Iranian protesters stormed the British Embassy compound in Tehran on Tuesday, smashing windows and burning the British flag during a rally to protest against sanctions imposed by Britain, live Iranian television showed.
Protesters threw petrol bombs and one waved a framed picture of Queen Elizabeth apparently found inside the compound, the state TV showed.
The semi-official Mehr news agency said protesters pulled down the British flag, burned it, and put up the Iranian flag.

The incident followed Britain's imposition of new sanctions on the Islamic state last week over its nuclear program.
London banned all British financial institutions from doing business with their Iranian counterparts, including the Central Bank of Iran, as part of a new wave of sanctions by Western countries.

Iran's Guardian Council approved a bill on Monday to downgrade Iran's ties with Britain, one day after the Iranian parliament approved the measure compelling the government to expel the British ambassador in retaliation for the sanctions.

In parliament in Tehran on Sunday, a lawmaker warned that Iranians angered by the sanctions could storm the British embassy as they did to the U.S. mission in 1979.

"warned that Iranians angered by the sanctions could storm the British embassy"... this was planned?

UK to expel all Iranian diplomats over embassy attack
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-15966628

Nov. 30/11
The UK is to expel all Iranian diplomats following the storming of its embassy in Tehran, Foreign Secretary William Hague has announced.
He said he had ordered the immediate closure of the Iranian embassy in London.
Tuesday's attack by hundreds of protesters followed Britain's decision to impose further sanctions on Iran over its nuclear programme.

The sanctions led to Iran's parliament reducing diplomatic ties with the UK.
Mr Hague said he was demanding the immediate closure of the Iranian embassy in London, with all its staff to leave the UK within 48 hours.
"If any country makes it impossible for us to operate on their soil they cannot expect to have a functioning embassy here," Mr Hague told MPs.
He said there had been "some degree of regime consent" in the attacks on the embassy and on another UK diplomatic compound in Tehran.

The real GREEN war in Iran

December  2,  2011  /  6 Kislev 5772
So who attacking Iran, and why?  Its NOT the west, its protesters INSIDE IRAN who Obama refuses to support.

Forces are in motion in Iran.
Since this week's bombing in Isfahan, the world media is rife with speculation that the war with Iran over its nuclear weapons program has begun.
But if the war has begun, who is fighting it? What are their aims? And what are their methods and means of attack?

Iran anti-regime Green Movement have taken responsibility for several attacks of late.
The Greens want the overthrow of the entire regime.
They target Iran economic assets and military  sites.

Explosions at 2 bases in Iran November  12,  2011
In the attack that killed Moghaddam, 180 missiles were destroyed.
Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was scheduled to visit the Bidganeh base at the time of the explosion, but he was delayed.
His 2nd escape from Death.

Isfahan is NOT a uranium enrichment facility (UEF), it is a uranium conversion facility (UCF).  (Like most of us would know the difference!  Ha!)
A UCF is where yellowcake is converted into UF6, which is sent from Isfahan to Natanz.
It is extremely unlikely that a Western government perpetrated that attack.

Iran downs US drone in east of country

12/4/11
Iran's semiofficial Fars news agency says the country's armed forces have shot down an unmanned U.S. spy plane that violated Iranian airspace along its eastern border.
The report says the plane was an RQ170 type drone and is now in the possession of Iran's armed forces. The Fars news agency is close to the powerful Revolutionary Guard.
Iran is locked in a dispute with the U.S. and its allies over Tehran's disputed nuclear program, which the West believes is aimed at the development of nuclear weapons.
Iran denies the accusations, saying its nuclear program is entirely peaceful.

Iran Has U.S. Drone   December  6  2011  Tuesday
Aint good.  That means Russia and China have it too.
When the USA allows a Muslim or Demoncrat in power in the whitehouse, he gives all our secrets to our enemies.
Our enemies make the parts to our weapons, therefore can control us.

Iran appears to be in possession of the RQ-170 drone, one of America's most sophisticated weapons, a super-secret stealth technology spy plane.
The RQ-170 is so advanced that the U.S. Air Force has not distributed even a photo of it. However, they did not say that the Iranians shot down the spy plane
The drone could be one that was lost over western Afghanistan, which borders Iran.

Iran goes on WAR Alert   December  6  2011  Tuesday
There is deep concern within the Iranian regime that they will be the target of a surprise military strike.
Many foreigners are leaving Iran.  The people fear an attack.  Said one Iranian,
I am pulling out my money from the bank to have cash in hand. I and all my friends have stockpiled goods at home.
If only Americans were this wise!

Israeli people sit and talk about the coming war with Iran, Syria, Gaza (Hamas) and all of our other potential enemies in the region.
There is no question that growing hatred amongst the Muslim people towards Israel has grown to a very dangerous point.

US drone undamaged US-Israel shocked
Russia, China to inspect drone

December  9,  2011
Iran plucked a US top-secret spy plane right out of the Afganistan air and stole it, and
exhibited it Dec. 4.  Its almost perfect condition confirmed the UAV was brought in undamaged by an electronic warfare ambush.
This is a major debacle for the stealth technology the US uses in its warplanes and the drone technology developed by the US and Israel.

Russia, China asked to inspect downed US drone - EXACTLY what I said immediately!
Iran asked Chinese and Russian experts to closely examine aircraft to duplicate it.

Russia may have helped Iran down drone
China-Russia have U.S. stealth technology

The RQ-170 Sentinel highly classified spy drone is designed to be virtually invisible to radar.
Its possible that Russia directly aided Iran in downing the U.S. drone that crashed in Iran, said former U.N. Ambassador John Bolton.
Iran purchased Avtobaza advanced electronic warfare system from Russia, which could have been used to hack into the downed drone's system.
There is NO excuse for US not blowing it up, but Obama wants our enemies to have our secrets.

Iran may close Hormuz       December  13,  2011
IRAN military may close the Gulf to shipping at the narrow Strait of Hormuz, the most important oil transit channel in the world.
They will hold a military maneuver on how to close the Strait of Hormuz.
About a third of all sea-borne shipped oil passed through the Strait in 2009, but Saudi Arabia will pick up the slack, so Iran is no threat.
US ships in the Persian Gulf would be at risk.  U.S. warships patrol the area to ensure safe passage.
It appears the USS G W Bush carrier was scheduled months ago to exit the Persian Gulf Dec. 12th.  Very interesting.
