Police initially said the blast came from an explosives-packed car parked outside the Saints Church. But the Interior Ministry later said it was more likely from a suicide bomber on foot.
the blast came as the terror network's branch in Iraq has waged a campaign of violence against that country's Christian community and raised the threat of similar attacks in Egypt.

Car Bomb Kills 21 at Egyptian Church
Jan. 2012  ALEXANDRIA, Egypt

A powerful bomb, possibly from a suicide attacker, exploded in front of a Coptic Christian church as a crowd of worshippers emerged from a New Years Mass early Saturday, killing at least 21 people and wounding nearly 80 in an attack that raised suspicions of an al-Qaida role.

The attack came in the wake of repeated threats by al-Qaida militants in Iraq to attack Egypt's Christians. A direct al-Qaida hand in the bombing would be a dramatic development, as the government of President Hosni Mubarak has long denied that the terror network has a significant presence in the country. Al-Qaida in Iraq has already been waging a campaign of violence against Christians in that country.

The bombing enraged Christians, who often complain of discrimination at the hands of Egypt's Muslim majority and accuse the government of covering up attacks on their community. In heavy clashes Saturday afternoon, crowds of Christian youths in the streets outside the Saints Church and a neighboring hospital hurled stones at riot police, who opened fire with rubber bullets and tear gas.

Egypt has seen growing tensions between its Muslim majority and Christian minority — and the attack raised a dangerous new worry, that al-Qaida or militants sympathetic to it could be aiming to stoke sectarian anger or exploit it to gain a foothold.

Nearly 1,000 Christians were attending the New Year's Mass at the Saints Church in the Mediterranean port city of Alexandria, said Father Mena Adel, a priest at the church. The service had just ended, and some worshippers were leaving the building when the bomb went off about a half hour after midnight, he said.

Muslims being 'appeased' by crackdown on Christianity
But ministry leaders say people accepting faith 'even after re-education programs'
It's happening in Egypt, Pakistan and Laos as well as other Muslim-dominated nations in Asia and Africa, and its results are stark: a surge in attacks on Christian families and Christian churches. Now an analyst concludes that the attacks are being allowed, perhaps even encouraged, by government inaction in what is no more or less than the appeasement of radical Islamics.
Investigative journalist and the founder and executive director of the Investigative Project on Terrorism Steven Emerson says the pattern follows Islamic law.

"The Egyptian government [which has seen a series of recent attacks on Christians] hasn't done what it is morally obligated to do, which is to provide protection for the Copts. Certainly the Copts are treated as second-class citizens. This is the classic dhimmi situation in a Muslim country," Emerson observed.
"It doesn't protect the large Coptic community perhaps to appease the larger Islamic community," Emerson said.

Recent high-profile attacks have included the assassination of Punjab Gov. Salman Taseer for his support of Pakistani Christian Asia Bibi and the Coptic church bombing in Alexandria, Egypt. But many others are happening, too.
Director Sirikoon Presertsee, of the Human Rights Watch for Lao Religious Freedom, says the recent arrest of 11 Laotian Christians at a Christmas celebration in Khammouan Province is an example.

"The believers had gathered together to celebrate Christmas. The celebration was designated for the 5th of January. It's common in Laos that the celebration of Christmas takes place from December to January," Presertsee explained.
"The evangelical Christians in the country informed the central government that it would take place in that time. The information was given to the religious department in the country," he continued.

Alexandria Copts were victims of homegrown Egyptian Islamic terror
January 2, 2011
The suicide attack on the Coptic Church in Alexandria, northern Egypt, which left 21 dead and 79 injured after New Year's mass, was carried out by a local Egyptian Muslim.
In calling for national unity, Egypt President Hosni Mubarak called the attack a foreign assault.
However, Islamist terror in Egypt is rising, and exploded in Alexandria on Jan. 1.
This article blames Al Qaeda.

Egypt and Israel have also been looking the other way as 'Al Qaeda' cells in Gaza become increasingly aggressive. Those cells are largely responsible for the rising number of attacks on Israel.
Copts account for roughly ten percent of Egypt's population of 80 million. Their Coptic Orthodox Church, one of the oldest in Christendom, was founded in the first century. After the seventh century Arab conquest, Islam gradually became the dominant faith of the land until the present. The Copts have survived against spates of persecution. Sunday morning, dozens filled the same Saints Church attacked a day earlier, while riot police backed by armored vehicles were deployed outside.

Government to church: You can't do that
Schism follows suicide bombing that killed up to 23
January 06, 2011
By Aaron Klein in Jerusalem, ISRAEL
The Egyptian government this week directly interfered in the religious practices of the country's Coptic Christian leaders.
The move follows a deadly suicide bombing in the main Coptic church of Alexandria, Egypt, that killed up to 23 and is being widely blamed on Islamists seeking to target Christians.
Pope Shenouda III, the leader of the Coptic Christian community, had planned to go into seclusion this week with other senior priests in protest of Islamists targeting Christians in Egypt.
Shenouda is head of the Alexandria Coptic Orthodox.
Shenouda protested the 'failure' (unwillingness) of the Egyptian government to fight against Muslim attacks against Christians.

Not a Single Christian Church Left in Afghanistan, Says State Department

10/10/11  CNSNews.com - There is not a single, public Christian church left in Afghanistan, according to the U.S. State Department.
This reflects the state of religious freedom in that country ten years after the United States first invaded it and overthrew its Islamist Taliban regime.
In the intervening decade, U.S. taxpayers have spent $440 billion to support Afghanistan's new government and more than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in that country.

The last public Christian church in Afghanistan was razed in March 2010, according to the State Department's latest International Religious Freedom Report. The report, which was released last month and covers the period of July 1, 2010 through December 31, 2010, also states that “there were no Christian schools in the country.”

“There is no longer a public Christian church; the courts have not upheld the church's claim to its 99-year lease, and the landowner destroyed the building in March [2010],” reads the State Department report on religious freedom. “[Private] chapels and churches for the international community of various faiths are located on several military bases, PRTs [Provincial Reconstruction Teams], and at the Italian embassy. Some citizens who converted to Christianity as refugees have returned.”

In recent times, freedom of religion has declined in Afghanistan, according to the State Department.
Most Christians in the country refuse to “state their beliefs or gather openly to worship.”

More than 1,700 U.S. military personnel have died serving in the decade-old Afghanistan war, according to CNSNews.com’s database of all U.S. casualties in Afghanistan. A September audit released jointly by the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction and the State Department’s Office of Inspector General, found that the U.S. government will spend at least $1.7 billion to support the civilian effort from 2009-2011.

Afghanistan’s post-Taliban constitution, which was ratified with the help of U.S. mediation in 2004, can be contradictory when it comes to the free exercise of religion.
While the new constitution states that Islam is the “religion of the state” and that “no law can be contrary to the beliefs and provisions of the sacred religion of Islam,” it also proclaims that “followers of other religions are free to exercise their faith and perform their religious rites within the limits of the provisions of the law.”

However, “the right to change one’s religion was not respected either in law or in practice,” according to the State Department.
“Muslims who converted away from Islam risked losing their marriages, rejection from their families and villages, and loss of jobs,” according to the report. “Legal aid for imprisoned converts away from Islam remains difficult due to the personal objection of Afghan lawyers to defend apostates.”

The report does note that “in recent years neither the national nor local authorities have imposed criminal penalties on coverts from Islam.” The report says that “conversion from Islam is considered apostasy and is punishable by death under some interpretations of Islamic rule in the country.”

According to the State Department report, more than 99 percent of the population, estimated between 24 and 33 million people, is either Sunni (80 percent) or Shia (19 percent) Muslim. Non-Muslim religious groups, including the estimated 500 to 8,000 strong Christian community in the country, make up less than 1 percent of the population. Other non-Muslim groups in the country are Sikhs, Bahais, and Hindus.

MidEast Christianity close to extinction
Islam is the most common threat to Christians

Christianity faces being wiped out of the biblical heartlands in the Middle East because of mounting persecution of worshippers.
Christians suffer greater hostility across the world than any other religious group.
Politicians have been blind to the extent of violence faced by Christians in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The most common threat to Christians abroad is militant Islam.
Oppression in Muslim countries is often ignored because of a fear that criticism will be seen as racism.
It warns that converts from Islam face being killed and/or risk severe legal penalties across the Middle East.
They are crucified by the new MB president Morsi in Egypt.

Mass exodus of Christians from Muslim world
May 8, 2013
A mass exodus of Christians is underway in the Islamic world, largely thanks to the USA.
We are reliving the true history of how the Islamic world, much of which was almost entirely Christian prior to the Islamic conquests (crusades), came into being.
The flight of Christians out of the region is unprecedented and increasing year by year.
Christians might disappear altogether from Iraq, Afghanistan, and Egypt.

Iraq was the earliest indicator of the fate awaiting Christians once Islamic forces are liberated from the grip of dictators.
60 Christians were slaughtered in 2010 in Bagdad Iraq.
In 2003, Iraq Christian population was at least one million. Today fewer than 400,000 remain, the result of an anti-Christian campaign that began with the U.S. occupation of Iraq, when countless Christian churches were bombed and countless Christians killed, including by crucifixion and beheading.

Crusades part two!
ONWARD!  Christian soldiers marching as to WAR!

I have not written about the crusades, but now we have history repeated.
Muslims slaughter Christians until Christians finally arm up and themselves.
THAT was the crusades - SELF DEFENSE against murdering Muslims.

We Christians are like roses. If you remove them from a garden, it will not be beautiful anymore.

Christians arm to survive
September, 2014    Christians very survival is at stake.

Lebanese Christian villages on the border carry their automatic rifles in case Muslims attack.
Across Middle East, Christian communities survival is at stake, threatened by rampaging Muslims. Now for the first time since 1990, Lebanese Christians are rearming and setting up self-defense units to protect themselves.

In Iraq, thousands of Christians have fled their homes after they were made to choose between leaving, converting to Islam or facing death. For the first time in centuries, Ninevah and Mosul have been emptied of Christians. After they left, the militants spray-painted their houses with the letter N for Nasarene (Christian).

In Syria, thousands of Christians have been displaced, attacked by Muslim jihadists, destroying historic churches and killing and raping.

Christians fled Iraq and Syria for Lebanon, the only Arab country with a Christian head of state.
We dont want to attack anyone and we dont want anyone to attack us.
In northeastern Syria, Christians fight alongside Kurds.
