DETROIT (AP) -- A judge sentenced a member of gospel music's Winans family to nearly 14 years in prison Wednesday for an $8 million financial scam that was promoted in church pulpits.
Two of Michael Winans Jr.'s victims spoke in federal court, telling a judge that the scheme to sell Saudi Arabian oil bonds robbed some people of their life savings, caused divorces and fractured many families.
"I want to apologize to everyone. ... These were decisions that were negligent and irresponsible," said Winans, of Jessup, Md.
He said he had no "malicious intent" but acknowledged that he continued to collect money even after he learned that the bonds were bogus.
Winans attracted more than 1,000 investors in 2007 and 2008, although he didn't know them all because many were recruited by others through word of mouth. He promised 100 percent returns in two months, then used the money for personal expenses or to pay off earlier investors. About 600 people are still owed $4.7 million in total.
Winans, 30, is a third-generation member of one of gospel music's first families. He's the grandson of Delores "Mom" Winans and David "Pop" Winans Sr., and the son of Michael Winans Sr., a member of the Winans, a quartet of brothers. His uncle, Marvin Winans, gave the eulogy at Whitney Houston's funeral.
Winans has performed with his cousins as "Winans Phase II." He released his own album in 2011, "My Own Genre."
Winans relied on unwitting friends to round up investors, a trait of a classic Ponzi scheme. When the bonds turned out to bogus, investors angrily turned on the people who recruited them.
"There are lots of marriages that have been destroyed. I know family members who aren't speaking to each other," Tara Hurt told the judge. The Detroit-area resident declined further comment outside court.
U.S. District Judge Sean Cox read from some of the 50 letters written by victims. He said a young woman joined the Army because her family had lost money that was intended for her college education. He noted that Winans made his pitch from church pulpits.
"Fraud on good, decent church-going people — that was very, very troubling to me," Cox said.
Gay “Christian” worship band says many more in closet
A trio of openly homosexual singer/musicians who performs as “Micah’s Rule” is making a splash on the Christian worship music scene, and the groups says there are many more like them singing in churches as well as performing in well-known artists’ groups around the world who haven’t come out yet.
The group has sprung from its home church, Wilmington’s St. Jude Metropolitan Community Church in North Carolina.
What exactly does a gay praise band sing about? In one song, “Walk the Road,” they sing:
“Sometimes you just have to be the one to set your own self free … what matters isn’t what you’re told. But how you walk the road.”
Compared to Scripture, these lyrics are quite blasphemous. Galatians 5:13: “You, my brothers, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the sinful nature; rather, serve one another in love.”
Of course, progressive Christians are celebrating the band’s breaking of barriers. According to the ultra-liberal Huffington Post, Greg McCaw, Chasity Scott and Mary Anne Hewett “don’t want their sexuality to define them.” Says McCaw:
“It’s just our back story, plain and simple, but we’re not using that as a marketing tool for our music, positively or negatively. We want to be a musical group like any other, but we realize our back story will get out.”
McCaw says there are many people who are gay in the music industry in Nashville, “but they’re so far in the closet.” He himself was the bass singer for many popular Christian musicians including Sandi Patty, Bill and Gloria Gaither and the Gatlin Brothers for 22 years. He also served as a Church of God pastor for more than 25 years in five states.
How far reaching is their music and their message? Just in their own home church, member Marcia Morgan believes their music has attracted more people to the church. Another St. Jude’s member Sherry Tucker Henderson bought copies for everyone in her family for Christmas.
“I listen to it day and night,” she said as she was driving to Florida on a trip. Henderson packed 35 more Micah’s Rule CDs to take to churches there. “It’s a message I think everyone needs to hear.”

The Character and Philosophy of Rock Music

Rock stole my heart as early as 1959, and I lived and breathed it until I was converted in 1973. I began with 50s rock and Grand Old Opry rock-a-billy and journeyed through 60s rock and part way through 70s rock before I was saved. When the Beatles appeared on the Ed Sullivan Show, I was in the 9th grade. The year I graduated from high school was “the summer of love.” When I was drafted into the Army two years later, the Woodstock movie was sweeping the land. During the year and a half I spent in Vietnam, I was stationed at Tan Son Nhut Airbase outside of Saigon. I was a clerk in a military police unit attached to MACV headquarters, the control center for the entire military operation in South Vietnam. We lived at the R&R out-processing center, and the unit’s job was to keep drugs from leaving the country on soldiers bound for R&R and in personnel containers being shipped to the States. We had access to every conceivable luxury, an Olympic-sized swimming pool, tennis courts, racket ball, gym, movie theater, photo processing labs. I even had almost full-time use of a jeep for trips to Saigon. (Yes, it was rough duty but someone had to do it!) One of the facilities I used extensively was the reel-to-reel recording studio. The Army had a massive library of music, and soldiers who lived at or visited MACV headquarters could record as much as they wanted. I spent countless hours there recording rock music while high on drugs. I also utilized the PX system to purchase a high-tech stereo system.
By the time I was discharged from the Army, I was all set to stock my first hippie pad in Hollywood, Florida, with wall-to-wall rock & roll. My hippie heaven didn't last long, though. My buddies and I were buying and selling drugs, and two of us were arrested for possession of illegal drugs and public drunkenness. Though I got off lightly because it was my first arrest, I began to live in constant fear of being caught again and going to jail for a long time. I started to drift around. On one trip, I hitchhiked to northern California and back to central Florida. On the return trip, I met some young people from India who introduced me to reincarnation and the Self Realization Fellowship Society. I began to study eastern religion, and I excitedly made another trip to California to visit the headquarters of the Self Realization Fellowship Society in Los Angeles. On the way, I won roughly $70 in a slot machine in Las Vegas and I thought it was an answer to my prayers!
Everything I was doing and thinking in those days was supported by rock music--drugs, eastern religion, rebellion against authority, self-centeredness, licentious living, long hair, communism (having collected Mao's Red Book and other communist propaganda during my stay in Vietnam).
Rock music never encouraged me to be an obedient, submissive-to-authority, God-honoring person. It taught me, rather, that I was “born to be wild,” born to follow my natural impulses, born to live without rules.
After I was saved I understood by the Spirit of God that rock music is intimately associated with everything that is evil and rebellious and anti-christ, that rock music fits the biblical definition of the worldliness which the Christian is not to love: the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life (1 John 2:15-17).
I am convinced that rock music is the soundtrack to the end-time apostasy described in 2 Timothy.
“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables” (2 Tim. 4:3-4).
The first book I wrote as a young Christian was Mom and Dad Sleep While the Children Rock in Satan's Cradle, a warning about the dangers of rock music (no longer in print).
Forty years later I am more convinced than ever that secular rock music is spiritually destructive and that “Christian rock” is a dangerous misnomer.
Rock music, which is an invention of wicked men to celebrate wickedness and the flaunting of God’s holy laws, is not a proper medium for singing the praises of a holy God.
I have given my own testimony about the evils of rock music. Now consider the following statements from a wide range of other people about the character and philosophy of this music. Most of these are NOT Bible-believing Christians. In fact, many of these statements are from rock stars, and they are not naive about the nature of rock as many Christians are, and they do not have an agenda to whitewash rock as many Christians do.
ROCK AND ROLL IS NOT JUST MUSIC; IT IS A LIFESTYLE, AN ATTITUDE
The book Rock Facts, which is published by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum in Cleveland, Ohio, admits that rock is not just a type of music, IT IS A LIFESTYLE. “… rock and roll has truly become a universal language … rock and roll also refers to an attitude, a feeling, a style, a way of life…” (Rock Facts, 1996, p. 7).
“What made rockabilly [Elvis Presley, Bill Haley, etc.] such a drastically new music was its spirit, a thing that bordered on mania. Elvis’s ‘Good Rockin’ Tonight’ was not merely a party song, but an invitation to a holocaust. … Rockabilly was the face of Dionysus, full of febrile sexuality and senselessness; it flushed the skin of new housewives and made pink teenage boys reinvent themselves as flaming creatures” (Nick Tosches, Country: The Twisted Roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll, p. 5.
“…the New Left sprang ... from Elvis’ gyrating pelvis.... Elvis Presley ripped off Ike Eisenhower by turning our uptight young awakening bodies around. Hard animal rock energy beat/surged hot through us, the driving rhythm arousing repressed passions. Music to free the spirit.... Elvis told us to let go!” (Jerry Reuben, Do It!).
“Elvis Presley was one of the few people in our lifetime who changed things. You hear Mantovani in every elevator, but so what? Elvis changed our hairstyles, dress styles, our attitudes toward sex, all the musical taste” (David Brinkley, NBC News, cited by Larry Nager, Memphis Beat, p. 216).
“If you think rockabilly is just music, you’re wrong. Rockabilly’s always been an attitude” (Billy Poore, RockABilly: A Forty-Year Journey, p. 113).
ROCK AND ROLL IS ABOUT REBELLION AND LIVING AS YOU PLEASE
“I’m free to do what I want any old time” (“I’m Free,” Rolling Stones, 1965).
“It’s my life and I’ll do what I want/ It’s my mind, and I’ll think what I want” (The Animals, 1965)
“You got to go where you want to go/ do what you want to do” (Mamas and Papas, 1965).
“It’s your thing/ do what you want to do” (Isley Brothers, 1969)
“The whole Beatles idea was to do what you want … do what thou wilst, as long as it doesn’t hurt somebody” (John Lennon, cited by David Sheff, The Playboy Interviews with John Lennon and Yoko Ono, p. 61).

They forgot it had claws of the bands--The Slits, The Damned, Bad Manners, The Vibrators, The Stranglers and Meat Loaf. ... I know, because I was one of them. Behind every sweet doowop and bebop is an unfettered sexuality and sympathy for the devil: a violently anarchic--in the face of all harmony, peace and progress. People could see that when it first happened and it hasn’t changed. “Rock music has widened the inevitable and normal gap between generations, turned it from something healthy--and absolutely necessary to forward movement--into something negative, destructive, nihilistic” (George Lees, music critic, High Fidelity, February 1970).
“The [rock] medium is so anti-Christian in its ethos--libertarian, anti-authoritarian, equating infatuation and sexual attraction with love, and on the drug-culture fringe--that when Christians assume that ethos to communicate the message of self-denial, cross-bearing and following Christ then it utterly mangles the message” (Colin Chapman, “Modern Music and Evangelism,” Background to the Task, Evangelical Alliance Commission on Evangelism, 1968).
“Although the music has changed over the years, the rebellious urges that created it remain the same. ... I was reminded once more of the basic appeal of rock and roll--its irreverent, nose-thumbing quality” (Ellen Willis, TV Guide, January 1979, p. 15).
“Most of it [rock music] is used as a vehicle for anti-Christian propaganda” (Graham Cray, appendix to J. & M. Prince, Time to Listen, Time to Talk, cited in Pop Goes the Gospel, p. 86).
“Rock music has got the same message as before. It is anti-religious, anti-nationalistic and anti-morality. But now I understand what you have to do. You have to put the message across with a little honey on it” (John Lennon, spoken not long before his death in 1980, Pop Goes the Gospel, p. 84).
“Rock and roll is simply an attitude” (Johnny Thunders, cited in Rock Facts, Rock & Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, p. 14).
“The [hippie] counterculture is the world’s first amplified music” (Timothy Tyler, “Out of Tune and Lost in the Counterculture,” Time, Feb. 22, 1971, pp. 15-16).
“There’s no way to grasp the subversive force of this now-innocent-sounding music unless you can feel a little of what it meant to be a kid hearing it as it was played for the first time. ... “Violence and rebellion have been shaking their fists at the world through rock music since its inception. Though rebellion, in one form or another, is present in the lives of many of today’s youth, constant meditation on anger and alienation, through listening repeatedly to rock music, magnifies and distorts those feelings” (Why Knock Rock? “The main purpose of rock and roll is celebration of the self” (Daryl Hall of Hall and Oates, interview with Timothy White, 1987, Rock Lives, p. 594).
“There is actually very little melody, little sense in the lyrics, only rhythm [in rock music]. The fact that music can both excite and incite has been known from time immemorial. … Now in our popular music, at least, we seem to be reverting to savagery … and youngsters who listen constantly to this sort of sound are thrust into turmoil. “The great strength of rock ‘n’ roll lies in its beat … it is a music which is basically sexual, un-Puritan … and a threat to established patterns and values” (Irwin Silber, Marxist, Sing Out, May 1965, p. 63).
“Rock and roll challenged the dominant norms and values with a genuinely Dionysian fervor. Compared to an ancient Dionysian revel--trances, seizures, devotees tearing sacrificial animals to pieces with their bare hands and eating the meat raw--a rock and roll performance is almost tame. … We must never forget our glorious Dionysian heritage” (Rock & Roll an Unruly History, pp. 150,155).
“… fifties rock was revolutionary. It urged people to do whatever they wanted to do, even if it meant breaking the rules. … From Buddy the burgeoning youth culture received rock’s message of freedom, which presaged the dawn of a decade of seismic change and liberation. … Buddy Holly left the United States for the first time in 1958, carrying rock ‘n’ roll--the music as well as its highly subversive message of freedom--to the world at large. … laying the groundwork for the social and political upheavals rock ‘n’ roll was instrumental in fomenting in the following decade” (Ellis Amburn, Buddy Holly, pp. 4,6,131).
The Bill Haley song “Rock the Joint” encouraged young people to throw off all restraints. “It was a song about having such a good time that nothing mattered: ‘We’re gonna tear down the mailbox, rip up the floor/ Smash out the windows and knock out the door.’”
“This is a story about control. My control. Control of what, I say? Control of what I do, and this time I’m gonna do it my way. … got my own mind. I want to make my own decision; when it has to do with my life, I want to be the one in control…” (Janet Jackson, “Control”).
Gene Simmons of Kiss said: “What I write is pretty much a belief in a certain lifestyle which is a free soul, a free person, doing basically what he wants to do without hurting anybody else” (WCCO-TV, Five P.M. Report, Feb. 18, 1983).
“Rock & roll is about striking out independently, not caring about your parents’ disapproval” (Pop Machine, quoted in “Metallica? OK, but we still don’t like the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame,” Chicago Tribune, Sept. 23, 2008).
“So what we get drunk/ So what we don’t sleep (smoke weed)/ we’re just having fun/ We don’t care who sees/ So what we go out/ That’s how its supposed to be/ Living young and wild and free” (”Young, Wild and Free” by Snoop Dog and Wiz Khalifa, released October 2011).
ROCK AND ROLL IS ABOUT SEX AND LICENTIOUS LIVING
“If any music has been guilty by association, it is rock music. It would be impossible to make a complete list, but here are a few of the ‘associates’ of rock: drug addicts, revolutionaries, rioters, Satan worshippers, drop-outs, draft- dodgers, homosexuals and other sex deviates, rebels, juvenile criminals, Black Panthers and White Panthers, motorcycle gangs, blasphemers, suicides, heathenism, voodooism, phallixism, Communism in the United States (Communist Russian outlawed rock music around 1960), paganism, lesbianism, immorality, demonology, promiscuity, free love, free sex, disobedience (civil and uncivil), sodomy, venereal disease, discotheques, brothels, orgies of all kinds, night clubs, dives, strip joints, filthy musicals such as ‘Hair’ and ‘Uncle Meat’; and on and on the list could go almost indefinitely” (Frank Garlock, The Big Beat, pp. 12-13).

Out-of-Nowhere Christian Film 'Alone Yet Not Alone' Scores Oscar Surprise … and Strong Reactions
So just what in the heck is "Alone Yet Not Alone"?
Every year there are a few Oscar nominations that come out of left field, either for a film that wasn't on the Oscar pundits' radar or giving a nod to film with artistic merit that perhaps didn't connect with critics. This year, however, there's one nominee that's truly something of a mystery.
The most surprising nomination this year is the Best Original Song nom for "Alone Yet Not Alone," a title that left pretty much everyone scratching their heads when it was announced. There's not one single review of it on Rotten Tomatoes; nor is there any box-office information on Box Office Mojo.
"You couldn't ever call it a dark horse. It was an invisible horse," freshly minted nominee and veteran film and television composer Bruce Broughton, who wrote the song, told Yahoo Movies shortly after he learned the exciting news. "My songwriting partner Dennis Spiegel [who wrote the song's lyrics] called and he was so excited he could hardly speak," Broughton shared.
This is his second Oscar nomination (he got a nod for Best Original Score in 1986 for "Silverado"). It's a special one because his career, which dates back to the '70s with shows like "Gunsmoke" and "CHiPs," has been dominated by composer gigs — a whopping 125 of them, according to IMDb, in which he created the films' overall scores but not the singles or standalone songs that appear in them. "Composers don't often get the job to do the song," he told Yahoo over the phone on Thursday. "That's very exciting ... the chance to be known for writing a tune."
Deeper digging revealed that "Alone Yet Not Alone" the film had a limited release (nine cities) on Sept. 27, 2013, targeted specifically toward the Christian market. Its production company — Enthuse Entertainment — describes itself as a producer of "God-honoring, faith-based, family-friendly films that inspire the human spirit to seek and know God." The film tells an alleged true-life tale from 1755 of two young sisters kidnapped by Native Americans after a raid on their family farm.
Film.com writer Daniel Weber points out the movie is officially endorsed by Republican Rick Santorum and some anti-gay groups. "This is the pepper in the salad," Broughton said when we brought it up. "You never know who's going to attach themselves to something," he said, adding that his song is integral to the film, which he calls "a very straight forward story." Weber weighed in, telling Yahoo over email, "Overall, it's just a bit of a surprise to see names like Rick Santorum ... popping up in an Oscar race. It's definitely an evangelical film, which you can tell from the music video for the nominated song, but that alone is hardly a reason to condemn it."
The plot of "Alone Yet Not Alone" also deals with the Native Americans (referred to as "savages" in the film's trailer) attempting to "indoctrinate" the kidnapped girls "into native culture," as reported by Film.com. The women, however, retain their faith, turning the film into a tale of Christianity "triumphing" over other religions and practices.
Meanwhile, the Oscar-nominated song in question is also titled "Alone Yet Not Alone," a solemn ode to finding comfort in Christianity written by Broughton and Spiegel and performed by Joni Eareckson Tada. "I was just trying to come up with a good tune that sounded like a hymn ... one that doesn't beat you over the head with a strong message," said Broughton.
Still, a song that could be sung in church (one of Broughton's goals in creating it), is a bit of the odd tune out alongside tracks from animated hits "Frozen" and "Despicable Me 2," a cute ditty from "Her," and U2's anthem from "Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom."
So how exactly did this film manage to score an Oscar nomination? Hitfix suggested it's because Broughton is an Academy Governor. Correction Hitfix: He is a former Governor, Yahoo confirmed. It's worth noting that the song very closely aligns with the Academy's guidance on Best Song — as it is closely, thematically relevant to the film (like "Frozen"'s "Let It Go").
Regardless of the circumstances, the nomination is sparking some strong reactions, some if it over the confusion on Broughton's status with the Academy.
Stay tuned to see where this all goes … though we doubt there's an actual win in the future for this one. At least it won't be "Alone" as the only non-winner in the Original Song category.

Christian Metal Singer Pleads Guilty in Murder for Hire
The singer of the Grammy-nominated Christian metal band As I Lay Dying pleaded guilty to his role in a murder-for-hire plot.
Carlsbad, Calif., resident Tim Lambesis entered the change of plea in court Tuesday, admitting that he hired a hit man to kill his estranged wife.
As a result of his change of plea, Lambesis will serve nine years, according to a court clerk.
The Carlsbad resident was arrested in May 2013 on charges of solicitation of another to commit murder and conspiracy to commit a crime.
Prosecutors alleged that Lambesis approached a trainer from his gym and asked if the person knew anyone who could kill his wife, Meggan Lambesis of Del Mar.
"He wanted to know if maybe I could find someone to do it for him," personal trainer Brett Kimball testified at a pretrial hearing.
Lambesis provided the undercover agent with an envelope containing $1,000 cash for expenses, his wife's address and gate codes, pictures of her and specific dates when he would have the children and thus, an alibi.
Lambesis explained he wanted his wife dead because she was going to get up to 60 percent of his income and would not allow their children — ages 4, 8, and 10 — to go on tour with him, the deputy testified.
Court documents reveal Meggan Lambesis had filed for divorce in September 2012 to end the couple's eight-year marriage.
In the divorce records obtained by The Associated Press, Meggan Lambesis claims the rocker had become "obsessed with bodybuilding" and was distracted with the children, even falling asleep once while watching them.
She also claimed he has spent thousands of dollars on tattoos.

album annually with a variety of singers and songwriters.
Marsha Stevens’ lesbian praise music ministry is recommended by Mark
Allen Powell, Professor of New Testament, Trinity Lutheran Seminary and the author of An Encyclopedia
of Contemporary Christian Music. He states:

To ignore the teaching of Scripture for a feeling or intuition that God is using a homosexual for His glory is blind
mysticism. And there is no question that the Bible condemns homosexuality
as a sin in no uncertain terms and demands repentance from it of those
those who come to Christ. Romans 1 condemns man on man and woman
on woman sexual relationships as “vile affections,” “against nature,”
unseemly,” and “a reprobate mind” (Romans 1:26-2. According to
Scripture, God made human sex for marriage and for marriage only, and
anything outside of that is fornication and adultery and is subject to
God’s judgment (Hebrews 13:4). From the beginning to the end of the Bible, God-ordained
marriage is defined as a holy contract between one man and one woman. Polygamy was practiced even by some of
the Old Testament saints, but Jesus taught that this was never God’s will and He referred men to God’s law at the
beginning (Matthew 19:4-6). Therefore, since all sexual activity outside of marriage is sin and since legitimate
marriage is only between a man and a woman, there is absolutely no possibility that God would bless homosexual
Popular CCM singer Ray Boltz announced his homosexuality in 2008. He divorced his wife to live
with a man. Today he “tours the country playing at liberal churches and gay-pride events that receive him and his
gay Christian message” (Jesus Rocks the World: The Definitive History of Contemporary Christian Music, vol. 2,
Other homosexual CCM artists are Anthony Williams, Kirk Talley, Clay Aiken, Jennifer Knapp,
Doug Pinnock of King’s X, plus Amy Ray and Emily Saliers of Indigo Girls.

Chorale at the Meyerson Symphony Center in Dallas, Texas. In July 2012 the
Chorale attended the Gay and Lesbian Association of Choruses (GALA) in Denver (“Turtle Creek Chorale’s

The reason for all of this is not difficult to discern. Typically, CCM musicians have been
accepted as Christians upon the flimsiest testimony of faith and have not
been properly taught and discipled. They have fed their spiritual lives with a constant diet of
sensual music and have sought after emotional highs and “signs and wonders” instead of living by faith. They have
played with the world, which is more dangerous than any poisonous snake, instead of living separated lives. They
have sown to the wind and are reaping the whirlwind.
This has really been a giant SLEEPER within Churchianity over the many years - while they were exposing sodomy through and through, ultimately the enemy came from WITHIN!

Posting this here b/c having seen just the 2 minute trailer(preview) for this movie a couple of months ago - at the end of it the cast attended some wicked CCM concert. Pretty much the plot of this movie surrounds a Christian college student whose challenge is to convince one of his atheist professors at his secular college that God exists.
Ultimately, BEWARE of all of these mainstream "Christian" movies that have loads of SUBTLE deceptions in it. And for that matter too - don't think that we can just walk into some government-runned, socialist school campus and start a revival(like the "religious right" made you think we could for years and years).

Box Office: ‘God’s Not Dead’ Soaring to $8.2 Million Opening in Limited Release
Talk about a box office diversion.
Shailene Woodley’s “Divergent” might be the No. 1 film in America but faith-based audiences are once again proving to be anything but conservative at the U.S. box office.
Christian drama “God’s Not Dead,” opening in fewer than 800 theaters, is on track for an impressive $8.2 million this weekend. That’s a per-screen average of over $10,400 from 782 locations.
The movie, produced by Pure Flix Entertainment and Red Entertainment, was only thought to reach $5 million through Sunday, still an impressive figure, but much like other Biblical stories of late, “God’s Not Dead” is seeing a heavenly windfall from religious audiences.
Earlier this month, the Mark Burnett-produced “Son of God” opened to $26 million at the box office while Russell Crowe’s Biblical tale “Noah” is expected to top the box office next weekend.
The low-budget “God’s Not Dead” tells the story of a college student who sets out to prove God’s existence.
Willie Robertson of “Duck Dynasty” appears in the film and shared with The Christian Post in an interview last week that his faith was strengthened as a result of the film, in which he appears as himself alongside his wife.
“I thought it was well written and it came together,” Robertson told the Christian Post, adding that the film “really raised the bar with these faith-based movies.”
Co-starring Shane Harper and Kevin Sorbo, “God’s Not Dead” is distributed by FreeStyle Releasing.

'Jesus Christ Superstar' to tour North America
Rock musical 'Jesus Christ Superstar' to tour North America starring JC Chasez and John Lydon
NEW YORK (AP) -- The 1970s rock opera "Jesus Christ Superstar" is being resurrected for a North American tour.
It was revealed Friday that the musical written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice about the last days of Jesus will start a 50-city tour in New Orleans on June 9.
It will star punk legend John Lydon as King Herod, Michelle Williams of Destiny's Child as Mary, Brandon Boyd of Incubus as Judas and JC Chasez of 'N Sync as Pilate. Ben Forster, the winner of the U.K.'s prime-time contest show "Superstar," will play the son of God.
The guitar- and keyboard-driven musical, which debuted on Broadway in 1971, includes such songs as "What's the Buzz?" ''Superstar," ''Everything's Alright" and "I Don't Know How to Love Him." The new version is being billed as an arena rock spectacular.
The original production earned five Tony Award nominations, including one for Ben Vereen, who played Judas. A film version was released in 1973 and the last Broadway revival was staged in 2012 under the direction of Des McAnuff. Foster played Jesus in the 2012 broadcast of "Jesus Christ Superstar UK Rock Spectacular," a touring version of the musical that was taped in Birmingham, England.
The musical dramatizes Jesus' entry into Jerusalem, the unrest caused by his preaching and popularity, his betrayal by Judas, the trial before Pontius Pilate and his ultimate crucifixion. It marked an early collaboration between Lloyd Webber and Rice, who would go on to create "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "Evita."
Jars of Clay Frontman Comes Out in Support of Homosexual ‘Marriage’
In a series of assertive Tweets yesterday, Dan Haseltine of the popular band Jars of Clay took to his Twitter account and came out in support of homosexual ‘marriage,’ citing that he does not “particularly care about Scripture’s stance on what is ‘wrong.’”
Haseltine, who is the lead singer of Jars of Clay and whose band became famous for its Christian-themed music, posted to his Twitter account on Wednesday: “Not meaning to stir things up BUT… is there a non-speculative or non ‘slippery slope’ reason why gays shouldn’t marry? I don’t hear one.”
“I’m trying to make sense of the conservative argument. But it doesn’t hold up to basic scrutiny. Feels akin to women’s suffrage. I just don’t see a negative effect to allowing gay marriage. No societal breakdown, no war on traditional marriage. Anyone?” he went on to argue.
“I don’t think Scripture ‘clearly’ states much of anything regarding morality,” Haseltine stated.
According to Matthew 19:4-5, Jesus defined marriage in referring back to Genesis 2:24, ”…Have ye not read, that He which made them at the beginning made them male and female, and said, ‘For this cause shall a man leave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife: and they twain shall be one flesh?’”
Scripture also addresses homosexual behavior in both the Old and New Testaments, warning that immoral sexual activity will lead to death and eternal damnation.
Haseltine argued in one post, however: “I think the vast interpretation [of Scripture] has left room for people to deal inhumanly and unlovingly toward others that don’t fit their guidelines.”
“I don’t particularly care about Scriptures stance on what is ‘wrong,’” he stated in another Tweet. “I care more about how it says we should treat people.”
Jars of Clay was formed in Tennessee in the ’90s and is considered one of the most popular and acclaimed contemporary Christian bands today. In 1995, their self-titled debut album was a major success for the group, reaching beyond Christian radio play to secular audiences.
The group’s single Flood received heavy secular radio airplay and reached #12 on the Billboard Modern Rock chart and #37 on the Hot 100 pop chart. It’s debut album has achieved double-platinum sales in the U.S. since its release, while the group has scored 20 top 10 singles on the contemporary Christian singles charts.
However, Haseltine says that some stations have now decided to stop playing the band’s music due to his recent statements, and some fans have erased Jars of Clay from their music library.
“Caught wind that some radio stations have pulled my music and people are deleting my music from their playlists,” he Tweeted on Thursday. “Why?”
“Because you have decided to support a lifestyle God calls an abomination,” one follower responded. “The fallout was inevitable.”
Hillsong Takes Over Times Square with Jesus Message
Last month, instead of news reports, ads or market results, the digital screens in New York City’s Times Square were taken over by the words “Jesus” and “No Other Name.”
The videos were part of a promotion from Hillsong about their upcoming album and the church’s 2014 conference. The event kicked off on April 24 on 21 of the digital screens in Times Square.
"Times Square — one of the most iconic locations on earth — is a place where so many names scream for fame," said Jay Argaet, Hillsong’s art and communications director. "The most powerful brands, biggest shows and famous celebrities ... every name wants to be the greatest! Perhaps this would be the most powerful way to remind the world his name trumps them all."
About 400 Hillsong volunteers helped with the Times Square promotion.
"It was shocking-in a good way-to see the name of Jesus proclaimed so brightly in the center of the world's largest, most chaotic city," NYC resident Julie McCoughy told the Gospel Herald. "It's an encouraging reminder for Christians and a great witness for unbelievers."
Hillsong’s annual conference is slated for Sydney, London and New York City. The church’s album is set to release July 1.

Christian Rocker Convicted of Murder Plot Reveals He Is Atheist
The embattled frontman of a Christian metal band sentenced to prison for plotting to have his wife killed recently confessed that he and other band members had become atheists, but continued to pose as Christians so they could keep selling records, according to a report by The Christian Post.
Tim Lambesis, 33, lead singer and founder of the band As I Lay Dying, was sentenced to six years behind bars on May 16 for his role in a murder-for-hire plot involving his estranged then-wife, Meggan Lambesis. Lambesis tried to hire a hitman in an attempt to have his wife murdered.
Lambesis’ arrest, case, trial and conviction took many of his faithful fans by surprise. Many took to social media to express their disbelief over the allegations and, ultimately, the singer’s sentencing.
“As I Lay Dying” frontman, Tim Lambesis, 33, was sentenced to six years in prison last month for his role in a murder-for-hire plot involving his estranged then-wife.
But according to the Christian Post's report, those fans may have had more faith in Lambesis than he did in the Christian religion, citing what Lambesis said during an extensive interview with Alternative Press conducted shortly before his sentencing.
In that interview, Lambesis talked about a YouTube video he made about a month before his arrest in which he addressed fans who felt his new side project, “Pyrithion” was “satanic.”
Lambesis admitted that at the time, he never really gave a straight answer as to whether he was still Christian. He said he was afraid of revealing his true beliefs about God, or lack thereof, because he didn’t want to impact his band’s record sales, so he chose to say “I’m not a satanist” instead.
“As far as the [YouTube] video I did explaining 'Pyrithion''s lyrics… I was trying to put out a fire. I was afraid it would affect As I Lay Dying sales, which would affect my overall income. I was trying to put out the fire by saying the easiest thing, 'I'm not a satanist!'" he explained in the Alternative Press interview.
"Truthfully, I was an atheist. The 'strategy' I had at the time was cowardly. Two of the songs on that record were about coming to grips with the idea that life has no purpose, no meaning. These were negative themes I wasn't 'allowed' to deal with in As I Lay Dying songs. I thought making As I Lay Dying darker would be bad for my career. That was my thinking," he continued.
Lambesis went on to say that many of the Christian bands he had toured with over the years had a similar stance and weren’t exactly devout Christians either. He said a few of his fellow As I Lay Dying band members were also no longer Christian.
After a while, the charade became awkward, he said, like the time when an interviewer at a Christian festival asked one of the band members to share his testimony, but he froze on the spot.
“We laughed about it afterward, but we were only laughing because it was so awkward," said Lambesis in the interview.
"When kids would want to pray with us after shows, I'd be like, 'Um, go ahead and pray!' I would just let them pray. I'd say 'Amen.' If praying while I have my hand on their shoulder makes them feel better, I didn't want to take that away from them. When they would specifically ask me to pray for something, I'd say, 'I don't really like to pray out loud, but I'll take that with me to the bus," the singer added.
Lambesis’ shocking fall from grace began when he was arrested in May 2013 in connection with the murder-for-hire plot.
Until that point, he had enjoyed a successful and lucrative musical career with his San Diego-based heavy metal band, which formed more than a decade ago and released eight albums, including the 2007 Grammy-nominated "An Ocean Between Us."
Beside the many albums, the band was also a mainstay of the San Diego Music Awards (SDMA), nominated in 2012 for Best Hard Rock Album for "Decas" and winning for Best Hard Rock the year before that. In 2005, 2007 and 2008, the band took home the SDMA statuettes for Artist of the Year.The band was slated to go on a cross-country tour with the Massachusetts metal band Killswitch Engage until Lambesis’ arrest last year.
When news of his arrest broke, it perplexed members of the San Diego music community, including SoundDiego contributor Tim Pyles of FM 94/9.
"He’s not the idealistic young Christian kid he once was, apparently," Pyles said last spring. "Because that’s what [As I Lay Dying] are: a straight-edged Christian metal band. He was a nice guy.”
At his sentencing last month, the courtroom was wrought with drama as character witnesses, including his ex-wife took to the stand to ask a judge to hand down the maximum sentence.
"My name used to be Meggan Lambesis. And up until two years ago, my heart was entirely devoted to him," said Meggan, who now goes by Meggan Murphy.
"I trusted him with everything, including my life," she added. "When the one person who you've been most vulnerable with and the most intimate with, who you've entrusted with every aspect of your life, who has not only desired but planned your murder -- you're left feeling completely exposed and unprotected. Who can I trust now? How can I feel safe?
Murphy said the ordeal will haunt her for the rest of her life, leaving her always looking over her shoulder. She said many of his fans had sent her threatening messages on social media since his arrest.
"The question of who Tim talked to or will talk to will forever haunt me,” she said in that San Diego courtroom. “The scariest thing is Tim's notoriety. He has followers that will do anything for him. It's terrifying to think there are people out there motivated to kill me on his behalf."

As I Lay Dying's Tim Lambesis Says Nine Out of 10 Christian Bands Only Claim to Be Christian
Lead vocalist of Christian metal band As I Lay Dying Tim Lambesis is now serving time in prison for attempting to have his estranged wife killed by a hitman. The musician now says that he is actually an Atheist, and many so-called “Christian” bands are not what they claim to be either.
According to Lambesis, As I Lay Dying originated as a Christian group, but members lost their faith over time. Though the band felt that they were lying by portraying themselves as Christian, the group wanted to keep record sales up with the Christian audience.
“We talked about whether to keep taking money from the ‘Christian market,” Lambesis said. “We had this bizarrely ‘noble’ thing, like, ‘Well, we’re not passing along any bad ideas. We’re just singing about real life stuff. Those kids need to hear about real life, because they live in a bubble.”
Lambesis now feels that “when you change your views, you kind of owe it to the fans to be honest.”
According to the singer, As I Lay Dying is not the only band putting up false pretences. "We toured with more 'Christian bands' who actually aren't Christians than bands that are. In 12 years of touring with As I Lay Dying, I would say maybe one in 10 Christian bands we toured with were actually Christian bands," he said.

Award-Winning Christian Group Admits They Don't Take Bible Literally
Michael and Lisa Gungor, from the award-winning Christian group Gungor, who write popular worship songs, admitted in a blog post that they don't believe the Bible literally anymore. Pointing to the story of creation, Adam and Eve, and The Flood in Genesis, the pair now say they have "no more ability to believe these things than…Santa Clause [sic] or to not believe in gravity."
For Gungor, they have decided to "find some values in them as stories" rather than view them as literal history. The one thing that remains in their belief system is God's Son, Jesus. Perhaps not- here is what they say about him in their blog:
So you believe in God? So what. You believe Jesus was the Son of God that will someday come again to reconcile all things? Big deal. So do most serial killers.
Jesus didn't have a problem believing in The Flood. They must have missed that part. Here is what he said in Luke 17:
Just as it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of Man. They were eating and drinking and marrying and being given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.
According to WorldMag.com, Michael Gungor spoke with the Oakland Press and explained that in 2012, he lost his "metaphysic." This newfound viewpoint has culminated in a new collection of EPs titled The Liturgists. One individual release in the collection is titled God Our Mother with the intent of proclaiming: "To know only God the Father would be like only knowing daytime, and never knowing night.” It is stated that there is an extended track where they repeat the phrase, "God is my father," then continue with "God is not my father," and finally, "God is not, not my father" -- a practice of Apophatic theology where one explains God by negation.
In the end, Gungor writes:
What do I believe? Look at my life. That’s what I believe. And that’s the kind of belief I’m interested in for my friends as well. I don’t care so much about what their words and unconscious assumptions are (even though that can make for some enjoyable pub conversation). I care about what kind of lives they live. Do they believe IN the underdog, or do they BELIEVE in the underdog? Do they believe in loving their neighbor or do they believe by loving their neighbor?

In Satan’s plan, America must be eradicated before he can establish his 666 world government (Rev. 13). On September 24, 1991 - via. Kurt Cobain and Nirvana - Lucifer would then seek to change the music industry’s gears and accelerate and intensify the music culture and industry to a more violent, subjective and negative tone. He would seek to advance his new agenda - after the 20 year decadent influence on our American culture of Hard Rock and Heavy Metal - to a more aggressive, viler, pessimistic, self loathing, anti authority and anti Christ mantra called Grunge. The music culture and ideology passed on to our children and youth is very subtle and very powerful. It dominates and hypnotizes a society to do as the master of this medium dictates (Eph 2:2-3). It is the music industry - which is run by the basest of individuals – that sets the godless trends, the fashions, the philosophies, the moods and the politics of the youth in which it seeks to reach. It is our American history that shows this to be all so true. Since the invention of the phonograph, and other like mediums, no other genre has been as widely used for the mass demonic indoctrination of masses as the vessel of music has been.
These agents of Satan, these icons of wrath, these demonic and lawless trendsetters’ - who with great godless passion and fire – have sought to promote and exalt the base and destructive vices of men on a reprobate society. In their fallen world environment and nature these vessels of Satan been very successful in their mission of moving the countless millions of satanic sheep to a state and mindset that despises, repulses, abhors any one or thing that stands for Almighty God, His plan of redemption and ETERNAL RIGHTEOUS ABSOLUTES (Rom. 1:32).

Hillsong Founder Denies Covering Up Father's Sex Abuse
Days ahead of an annual conference in New York’s Madison Square Garden, the founder of the Hillsong music and church empire is facing strict scrutiny for what he knew about sex abuse allegations lodged against his father.
Hillsong is an Australian megachurch that has exported its influence to major global cities and into churches’ music across the U.S.
In 1999, Brian Houston’s father, Frank Houston, who was also a minister, confessed to sexually abusing an underage male at his New Zealand congregation 30 years before. In response, the younger Houston, who was then president of the Assemblies of God in Australia, fired his father, took control of the church and merged it with Hillsong.
The elder Houston died in 2004.
On Thursday and Friday (Oct. 9-10), the son took the witness stand in Sydney and denied any attempt to cover up the allegations. Next week, Brian Houston will be in New York City for the church’s conference, at Madison Square Garden.
In his testimony, Brian Houston denied trying to hide his involvement in a $10,000 compensation payment made to a man who was abused as a child by his father.
“I acknowledge the courage of the victim in taking the stand today to outline the trauma he has suffered by Frank Houston,” Brian Houston said in a statement. “However I disagree with his perception of the phone call with me, and I strongly refute that I — at any time — accused him of tempting my father. I would never say this and I do not believe this. At no stage did I attempt to hide or cover up the allegations against my father.”
Through what’s called a royal commission, the Australian government is scrutinizing how institutions — including the Pentecostal church network that gave birth to Hillsong – have handled sex abuse claims. A royal commission is Australia’s highest level of inquiry.
Frank Houston never faced prosecution for crimes committed in the 1960s and 1970s. The Assemblies of God in Australia allowed Houston to resign quietly with a retirement package.
“We believe that exposing child sexual abuse and the response of institutions to that abuse, and allowing survivors to share their traumatic experiences, is a powerful step in the healing process,” Brian Houston said in a statement. “Having to face the fact that my father engaged in such repulsive acts was — and still is — agonizing.”
Hillsong congregants, based in western Sydney, gave him a standing ovation after he delivered his sermon on Sunday (Oct. 12) addressing his father’s sexual abuse.
“They have done the journey with us so there’d be very few people (at Hillsong) with any surprises. I’ve never hidden it from the church,” he told Australia’s “Today” show.
Brian Houston told the commission he first became aware of the abuse allegations in 1999, but learned in 2000 there were additional claims involving six boys in New Zealand. He said there may be more victims who have not yet come forward.
The 30-year-old Hillsong multisite church based in the outskirts of Sydney mixes Christian rock, charismatic energy and Australian accents in shaping Christian churches in major cities across the globe. Hillsong’s ubiquitous praise songs like “Shout to the Lord” can be found in many U.S. churches on any given Sunday.
More than 50,000 people attend Hillsong offshoots in London; Cape Town, South Africa; Paris; Kiev, Ukraine; Stockholm; Amsterdam; Barcelona, Spain; Copenhagen, Denmark; New York and most recently Los Angeles. Its American congregations received front-page attention in The New York Times last month.

One billion young at risk of hearing loss from loud music: WHO
Geneva (AFP) - More than one billion young people risk damaging their hearing through listening to loud music, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Friday.
The WHO estimates that around half of those between the ages of 12 and 35 in middle- and high-income countries are at risk due to unsafe levels of sound on personal audio devices or smartphones.
Another 40 percent are at risk from damaging audio levels at concert venues and night clubs.
"More and more young people are exposed to unsafe levels of sounds. Young people should be aware that once you lose your hearing, it won't come back," said Shelley Chadha, a WHO specialist on hearing impairment.
The UN health agency considers a volume above 85 decibels for eight hours or 100 decibels for 15 minutes as unsafe.
Exposure to traffic noise at peak hours can reach 85 decibels.
The vuvuzela, a popular wind instrument used in stadiums during the football World Cup in South Africa in 2010, has a sound intensity of 120 decibels and over nine seconds of exposure could result in irreversible hearing damage.
"It is something we can live without," Chadha said referring to the vuvuzela.
To counter the risks, the WHO recommends that personal audio devices should not be used for more than an hour a day, at reduced sound levels.
The use of ear plugs in loud conditions and regular check ups were part of the recommendations as well.
The WHO also wants governments to play a role by imposing strict regulations on noise in public places.
The UN agency estimates that 360 million people suffer from hearing loss worldwide. In addition to noise related causes and ageing, it is also brought on by infectious diseases, genetic conditions, complications at birth, and use of certain drugs.

Hillsong Church is the perfect poster child for what the prophesied church of Laodicea looks like. They rich, increased with goods, have need of nothing, and yet are amazingly unaware that they are poor, wretched, miserable and blind, leading millions astray with their pyrotechnic easy believism.
