BRITAIN, England, London UK * BREXIT
August 8, 2011 London picked itself up on Sunday from some of the worst violence seen in the British capital for years which politicians and police blamed on criminal thugs but residents attributed to local tensions and anger over rising financial hardship.
Rioters throwing petrol bombs rampaged overnight through an economicaly deprived district, setting police patrol cars, buildings and a double-decker bus on fire.
Police said 26 officers were injured as rioters bombarded them with missiles and bottles, looted buildings including banks, shops and council offices, and torched three patrol cars near Tottenham police station in north London.
The riots erupted after a street protest over the fatal shooting of a man by armed officers this week turned violent.
Residents said they were forced to flee their homes to escape the trouble as mounted police and riot officers on foot charged the crowd to push rioters back.
As day broke, the Metropolitan Police, which will handle next year’s London Olympic Games in what is expected to be Britain’s biggest peacetime operation, faced questions about how the trouble had been allowed to escalate.
The disturbance was only finally brought under control on Sunday after hours of sporadic clashes. Buildings were still smouldering, bricks littered the roads and burglar alarms continued to ring out.
At a nearby retail park, electrical stores and mobile phone shops had been ransacked, with boxes for large plasma televisions discarded outside, along with CDs and glass from smashed windows.
“They have taken almost everything,” said Saad Kamal, 27, branch manager of retailer JD Sports. “Whatever is left is damaged.”
APPEAL FOR CALM
Local member of parliament David Lammy and police chiefs appealed for calm.
“This must stop,” Lammy told reporters, saying they did not know if everyone had escaped flats above shops that were gutted by fire. “A community that was already hurting has now had the heart ripped out of it.”
The trouble broke out on Saturday night following a peaceful demonstration over the shooting of Mark Duggan, 29, who was killed after an exchange of gunfire with police on Thursday. Duggan’s death is now being investigated by the independent police watchdog.
The riots also come amid deepening gloom in Britain, with the economy struggling to grow amid deep public spending cuts and tax rises brought into help eliminate a budget deficit which peaked at more than 10 percent of GDP.
“Tottenham is a deprived area. Unemployment is very, very high ... they are frustrated,” said Uzodinma Wigwe, 49, who was made redundant from his job as a cleaner recently.
“We know we have been victimised by this government, we know we are being neglected by the government,” said another middle-aged man who declined to give his name. “How can you make one million youths unemployed and expect us to sit down?”
Tottenham has a large number of ethnic minorities and includes areas with the highest unemployment rates in London. It also has a history of racial tension with local young people, especially blacks, resenting police behaviour including the use of stop and search powers.
NOTORIOUS RACE RIOT IN 1985
The disorder was close to where one of Britain’s most notorious race riots occurred in 1985, when police officer Keith Blakelock was hacked to death on the deprived Broadwater Farm housing estate during widespread disturbances.
Locals said there had been growing anger recently about police behaviour.
“I’ve lived in Broadwater Farm for 20 odd years and from day one, police always pre-judge Turks and black people,” said a 23-year-old community worker of Turkish origin who would not give his name.
Fingers were also pointed at the police for failing to anticipate the trouble, although Commander Adrian Hanstock said there had been no hint of what was coming. He blamed a “mindless minority” for the trouble.
The London force has been heavily criticised for its handling of recent large protests against austerity measures, while its chief and the top counter-terrorism officer have quit over the handling of the News Corp phone-hacking scandal.
“I’m concerned that what was peaceful protest ... turned into this and it seemed to go on for many hours before we saw the kind of policing that I think is appropriate,” Lammy said.
Politicians said that criminals, rather than those with genuine grievances, had taken advantage of the situation.
“The rioting in Tottenham last night was utterly unacceptable,” a spokesman for Prime Minister David Cameron said. “There is no justification for the aggression the police and the public faced, or for the damage to property.”
The capital also saw riots at the end of last year when protests against government plans to raise tuition fees for university students in the centre of London turned violent with police and government buildings attacked.
During the most serious disturbances last December, rioters targeted the limousine belonging to heir-to-the-throne Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, kicking its doors,
a window and reportedly jabbing Camilla with a stick.

ZionsCRY NEWS with Prophetic Commentary
Jan 7, 2011 LONDON – Police fanned out across transport hubs in London on Friday amid continuing fears of a terrorist attack.
Britain's media said the security threat levels for transport hubs has been raised as governments in several European countries warn of a heightened risk of terrorism.
Police were on patrol at major hubs like St. Pancras and King's Cross train stations in what seemed to be an exercise in high visibility policing aimed at reassuring the public.
British Transport Police declined to comment on the deployment of officers, but denied a Sky News report that officers had been ordered to cancel days off.
Britain's government said the overall threat level from international terrorism remains at "severe" — the second-highest level, meaning an attack is highly likely. The level has not changed since January 2010.
Britain's Home Office said that any imminent, serious threat to public safety would prompt a change in the overall threat level — and would see it raised to "critical," the highest point on the system's five point scale.
Minor day-to-day revisions of policing are standard practice to handle a threat from terrorism that Prime Minister David Cameron said in December "is as serious today as it ever has been."
Britain's move comes after France and Germany increased security after warning of a heightened threat of terrorist attack. In October, the U.S. State Department advised American citizens living or traveling in Europe to be wary amid reports that terrorists were planning a "Mumbai-style" attack on a European city.
The next month, German authorities ordered increased security measures, including a beefed-up police presence in railway stations, airports and other public places. France also especially vigilant on terrorism-linked matters following warnings in the last few months that French citizens were targets for al-Qaida. France's terror alert status is at its second-highest level.
More than 170 people were killed in a 2008 gun attack on multiple targets in the Indian city of Mumbai.
"There is a continuing need for everyone to remain vigilant and to report any suspicious activity to the police," the Home Office said in a statement.
BAA, which runs Heathrow and five other terminals, said security at its airports remained at a high level and that the company is vigilant at all times.
The Daily Telegraph reported on its website that train stations across London were put on high alert. Quoting an unnamed security source, it said there was no imminent threat but activity from extremist cells had led to an adjustment in policing levels.
Last month, nine men suspected of plotting attacks on the U.S. Embassy London and the London Stock Exchange were charged with terrorism offenses, following the largest anti-terror raid in two years.
Britain had not seen a terror attack since the October warning, but a Dec. 11 attack in Stockholm, Sweden was linked to the U.K.
Taimour Abdulwahab, who blew himself up on a busy street in Stockholm, injuring two people, had lived and studied in Luton, about 34 miles (54 kilometers) northwest of London, for years before killed himself in the attack.
London Stock Exchange mulls Nasdaq takeover
March 2011 - The London Stock Exchange is eyeing a takeover of its rival Nasdaq just weeks after announcing a merger with the Toronto stock exchange, the Sunday Times reported.
The companies have not held talks, but plan to make their move for a three-way tie-up later this year, the newspaper said without citing sources.
Last month, the LSE agreed to merge with TMX Group, operator of the Toronto Stock Exchange, in a 3.1 billion pound ($5 billion) deal.
New disturbances in London a night after rioting
Aug 2011 LONDON (AP) — Police deployed extra officers on London's streets to prevent a repeat of the rioting and looting in a deprived area amid community anger over a fatal police shooting, as new disturbances broke out in another district of the city late Sunday.
A peaceful protest against the killing of the 29-year-old man in north London's Tottenham area degenerated into a Saturday night rampage, with rioters torching a double-decker bus, destroying patrol cars and trashing a shopping mall in the nearby Wood Green district.
Disturbances broke out late Sunday in Enfield, about 5 miles (8 kilometers) north of Tottenham. TV footage showed riot and mounted police patrolling the streets, and there were also images of smashed shop windows, and police with dogs detaining at least one man.
There were also reports that a police car was vandalized in Enfield. Sky News television reported that several hundred young people were on the streets causing trouble.
"We do have extra resources out tonight on duty across the capital," police commander Christine Jones said. "We are carefully monitoring any intelligence and ensuring we have our resources in the right places. No one wants to see a repeat of the scenes that we witnessed last night in Tottenham."
In Saturday's violence, several buildings were set ablaze. TV footage showed the double-decker bus in a fireball and mounted police charging through the streets trying to restore order. Police said 26 officers received injuries, most if not all apparently minor, and made 55 arrests, including four Sunday. The majority of arrests were for burglary; other offenses included violent disorder, robbery, theft and handling of stolen goods.
London's fire department said it dealt with 49 "primary" fires in Tottenham. No firefighters were injured.
Social networking websites swirled with rumors of other riots beginning or being planned in other areas of the city, but police warned the public not to trust everything they saw on the Internet — adding that officers were keeping a close eye on what was being said online as well.
The violence has cast a pall over a city preparing to host the 2012 Olympic Games.
"I hope people will have a fantastic Olympics no matter what happened last night," London Mayor Boris Johnson said in a telephone interview with BBC television, trying to assure the world his city was safe.
Others weren't so sure, suggesting that the riots had exposed incipient tensions at a time of sharp public sector cutbacks and economic uncertainty.
"This is just a glimpse into the abyss," former Metropolitan Police Commander John O'Connor told Sky News. "Someone's pulled the clock back and you can look and see what's beneath the surface. And what with the Olympic Games coming up, this doesn't bode very well for London."
The protest against the death of Mark Duggan, a father of four who was gunned down in disputed circumstances Thursday, was initially peaceful. But it got ugly as between 300 and 500 people gathered around Tottenham's police station. Some protesters filled bottles with gasoline to throw at police lines, others confronted officers with makeshift weapons — including baseball bats and bars — and attempted to storm the station.
Within hours, police in riot gear and on horseback were clashing with hundreds of rioters, fires were raging out of control, and looters combed the area. One video posted to the Guardian newspaper's website showed looting even carried on into the following day, with people even lining up to steal from one store just after dawn.
The devastated area smoldered Sunday — in Tottenham, streets were littered with bricks and lined with overturned scorched trash cans. Two police helicopters hovered over the burnt-out buildings as residents inspected the damage and firefighters doused the last of the flames. Glaziers were busy replacing the smashed windows of looted shops.
Very few details of Duggan's death have been released, although police said initially that an officer was briefly hospitalized after the shooting — suggesting there was some kind of an exchange of fire. Media reports said a bullet had been found lodged in the officer's police radio.
The Independent Police Complaints Commission, which is investigating Duggan's shooting, provided more details in a statement Sunday night, saying a "non-police firearm" was recovered at the scene. It added that the weapon and a police radio "have been sent for forensic testing."
Duggan's family rejected any suggestion that he had fired at officers. His brother, Shaun Hall, said his sibling would never attack police.
"That's ridiculous," he told Sky News television. As for the rioting, he condemned it.
"There was a domino effect, which we don't condone at all," he said.
Local lawmaker David Lammy, speaking to residents from behind police tape earlier in the day, said that Duggan's shooting "raised huge questions and we need answers," but he warned against renewed violence.
"The response to that is not to loot and rob," he said. "This must stop."
Tottenham has a history of unrest. It was the site of the 1985 Broadwater Farm riots, a series of clashes that led to the savaging stabbing of a police officer and the wounding of nearly 60 others — brutally underscoring tensions between London's police and the capital's black community.
Relations have improved since, but mistrust still lingers.
Police Brutality Protest Turns Violent In London
8 August 2011
Police have condemned a wave of "copycat criminal activity" across London in a second night of looting and disorder following riots in Tottenham.
More than 100 people have been arrested as officers were attacked, police vehicles damaged and shops looted.
Disorder spread to Enfield, Walthamstow and Waltham Forest in north London and to Brixton in the south of the city.
Home Secretary Teresa May has cut short her holiday to return to the UK following the disorder.
Some 35 officers have been injured over the two nights of rioting.
Three officers were hurt when a vehicle hit them as they tried to make an arrest in Waltham Forest, east London.
Clashes broke out in Enfield, north London, on Sunday evening where shop windows were smashed and a police car damaged.
There have been reports of a gang of up to 200 youths looting shops and charging police in Coldharbour Lane and the High Street in Brixton, south London.
England * Fires in Prison
January 1, 2011 - Specialist prison officers wearing riot gear have been sent to an open prison in the south of England after inmates went on the rampage and started fires.
The riot began at around midnight in West Sussex, .
It involved around 40 prisoners who smashed furniture and windows, activating fire alarms, before setting several buildings alight.
The gym block and two side buildings appear to have been severely damaged.

Rioting has spread across London on a third night of violence, with unrest flaring in other English cities.
An extra 1,700 police officers were deployed in London, where shops were looted and buildings were set alight.
Birmingham, Liverpool, Nottingham and Bristol also saw violence.
The prime minister has returned early from his holiday to discuss the unrest, which first flared on Saturday after a peaceful protest in Tottenham over the fatal shooting of a man by police.
At least 400 people have been arrested following a wave of "copycat criminal activity" across London over the past three days, the Met Police said. More than 69 people have been charged with various offences.
Three people are being questioned on suspicion of attempted murder after a police officer was injured by a car in Wembley, north-west London, while trying to stop suspected looters.
Met Deputy Assistant Commissioner Steven Kavanagh said it was a "shocking and appalling morning for London to wake up to".
"The Met was stretched beyond belief in a way that it has never experienced before," he told BBC Breakfast.
When asked at what stage he would consider bringing in the Army, he responded by saying "all options are being considered".
On Twitter, Scotland Yard said: "In the next 24 hours there will be 13,000 police officers on duty in London."

World in crisis
Markets dive. Mobs burn London
August 10, 2011 An air of crisis descended on the world Tuesday, Aug. 9 as markets continued to tumble steeply and in London, large parts of the city succumbed to uncontrolled violence joined by three major British cities. Far East stocks leveled out at 3 percent, Europe fell 3.5-5 percent Tuesday after Wall Street slid 5-7 percent Monday. More than $70 billion were wiped out in global trading Monday hours after US President Barack Obama said America will always be a Triple A country no matter what some agency may say.
The Bank of America took the worst punishment with a 23 percent decline in its stock. Investors did not miss the warning by a Standard & Poor executive that the US credit rating may be lowered again after its landmark downgrade from AAA to AA+.
Heads of the European Union and national leaders, with no solutions for the debt crises plaguing two major members Italy and Spain, are in a panic over the threat to the Eurozone and euro currency. Their fears are driving droves of investors across the world out of the markets in the hope of safe landings in gold (which shot up to $1.721 the ounce), the Japanese yen and the Swiss franc.
Some government spokesmen and pundits are blaming speculators for the crash, praising investors who take the long view and hold tight. Others lay the blame squarely at the door of various governments for mishandling the 2008 economic crisis and its social fallout – witness the consequences of tight austerity measures in Greece and now the United Kingdom.
Thanks to deft footwork by its economic managers, Israel has so far escaped the worst of the backlash, but may not remain unscathed for much longer. Three alarm bells rang this week:
1. Standard & Poor applied its downgrade of America's credit rating to Israel's $6billion worth of US-backed bonds, lowing their rating from AAA to AA+.
2. The big demonstrations protesting soaring prices for housing and other essentials and demanding economic reforms to bridge the social gap - are now in their third week. Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu is skating on thin ice between expenditure for satisfying their demands and defusing a movement jeopardizing his government and keeping the economy on an even, stable keel.
Meeting even some of those demands could quickly tip Israel over into the abyss of economically-distressed countries, with attendant mass unemployment and a declining currency.
3. Even in the unlikely event of the government keeping the national purse sealed against social demands, Israel is short of the reserves for weathering the fallout to its economic and export industries from the crises in the US and Europe.
Britain is now facing the sharpest edge of this dilemma with far less options.
The street violence, looting, burning, attacks on police - which erupted in the North London borough of Tottenham Saturday, Aug. 6, when a protest against the shooting by police of a local man got out of hand - has spread since with lightning speed into one London borough after another and, Monday night, to three major cities, Liverpool, Birmingham and Bristol.
Inadequate police and fire services are helpless to halt the looting and torching rampages of hooded teenagers in ethnically mixed and disadvantaged communities - even after 450 arrests. Owners of businesses and homes are forced to watch their properties burn down with no police or firemen in sight.
Petrol bombs and knives are out against the police. Tuesday morning, armored vehicles appeared on the streets of Ealing Broadway and Clapham Junction after every second shop was looted. Police drafted in from other places are untrained and unequal to the mob tactics of abruptly moving on to their next target which may be an upend neighborhood.
The crisis caught most of the heads of the UK government away on holiday. As the situation degenerated by the hour, Prime Minister David Cameron flew home Tuesday and called an emergency Cobra committee meeting that day. Official government and police statements until then that the violence "is unacceptable" "pure criminality" and "lawbreakers will face the consequences "have made matters worse.
British authorities are criticized widely for being too soft with the mobs of mostly teenagers.
Cameron faces demands to bring in the army because the police are clearly unequal to the situation. He does not have the option of loosening up on the austerity measures which have reduced the average living standards by 25 percent and responding to real hardship in order to defuse the disturbances. The UK is in the verge of bankruptcy, financial institutions are in flight from the City of London, further deepening the crisis. Riots across the country will further deter investors.
Standard & Poor indicated Monday that some European countries may be headed for debt downgrades after the United States – with Britain in line.
The face of terrorism
August 09, 2011
People who characterize the tea-party movement as terrorists are clearly incapable of rationally processing information.
They don't know right from wrong.
They have no appreciation for American history and constitutional guarantees of our freedoms.
They don't recognize that when tea-party groups get together, they clean up after themselves.
They don't burn, loot, commit arson, rape or murder.
Yet, people like Vice President Joe Biden (the true terrorist) call the tea-party terrorists.
Do you want to see the face of terrorism today?
Just look to Philadelphia or to London. That's terrorism.
The classic quote from a rioter on the street in London was this:
"We hear people were getting stuff free, so why not us?"
You will notice that tea-party activists don't have a sense of entitlement. They don't ask for free stuff. They don't demand handouts.
They don't ask that government take care of them. They just ask that government follow the rule of law and act responsibly.
The rioters (anarchists) in the streets of London and Philadelphia have a sense of entitlement.
They believe they have the right to rob and beat other people and take what they want.
They believe in burning and terrorizing and attacking police and civilians.
But no one calls them terrorists. Have you noticed that?
No one has called the perpetrators of these acts of violence the terrorists they are.
When you demonize the hard-working, productive middle class who organize peacefully and call for reforms,
you are inviting the shiftless, unproductive class to take the opposite approach.
I think what we're seeing in London and Philadelphia is just the beginning.
Government officials have set the stage for this kind of behavior.
Black on white violence is escalating in USA also.
For no reason whatsoever at fairs, eaterys, etc, black gangs attack, beat whites.
Youths Offered Money To Start Riots
Wednesday, August 10, 2011 Paul Joseph Watson
Violence in Leicester after “journalists” tried to pay off kids, according to Tweets.
As massive unrest plaguing the United Kingdom spread from London to other cities last night, claims emerged that individuals calling themselves journalists were offering to pay youths to start riots, suggesting an effort to provocateur some of the violence.
According to Tweets sent by people who were in the city of Leicester last night trying to secure their communities, kids were being told to cause mayhem in return for cash. Leicester was hit by violence later that night, as youths attacked buildings in the city center.
“There were swarms of hooded Asian, black and white youths in their 20s, and some as young as 12, being hounded out of Leicester city centre at around midnight,” nightclub owner James ****erill told the BBC.
In a message that was forwarded to Leicestershire police, a Twitter user called “leicestertalk” wrote, “AadamSparkzz & his mates just offered money by these journos to start a riot in #Leicester.”
“****heads that tried to offer us money for starting a riot in #Leicester,” said another Tweet, which included an accompanying picture of a blue car parked on the curb with its occupants standing nearby on the street.
“The media have sunk to a new low – bribing kids to start a riot. Reliable testimony that this just happened in #Leicester,” Tweeted another.
Judging by the Tweets, the men in the vehicle obviously told the kids they were journalists. The vehicle’s license plate reveals that the car is a Volkswagen Passat Se Tdi (4 Door Saloon). However, the vehicle may have no connection to the men in the picture.
Forum posters speculated last night that the journalist claim could have just been a cover for who the men seen in the image were really working for. However, it is important to stress that the claim that the occupants were offering kids money to start riots is nothing more than an allegation at this point.
Hiring provocateurs or using undercover police officers to start riots has become a routine method for justifying brutal crackdowns, although the tactic is primarily used at global summits.
We have documented numerous instances from the UK to Canada to the United States, where authorities have either used black bloc anarchists to generate violence or simply relied on their own undercover police posing as troublemakers to provoke mayhem.
Facial recognition in use after riots
Aug 2011 Facial recognition technology being considered for London's 2012 Games is getting a workout in the wake of Britain's riots, with officers feeding photographs of suspects through Scotland Yard's newly updated face-matching program.
A law enforcement official tells The Associated Press that facial recognition is one of many tools police are using to hunt suspects still at large. Other techniques include posting headshots to photo-sharing site Flickr and old-fashioned public appeals.
The official spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak about an ongoing investigation.
A spokesman for Scotland Yard confirmed Thursday that facial recognition technology was at his force's disposal.

Helicopter crash in south London
Jan 16, 2013 BREAKING NEWS
A helicopter has crashed in Vauxhall, south London - with reports it hit a crane on a high-rise building.
Two people have been confirmed dead, Scotland Yard says.
Commuters have described hearing a loud explosion, and seeing the helicopter and cars in flames.
Around 60 firefighters are at the scene of the crash near Wandsworth Road in south London.
London Fire Brigade is also at scene of a crane in a "precarious position", it says.
Trains are not stopping at Vauxhall railway station, South West Trains says, and the nearby bus station is closed.
Helicopter crashes near rail station in London
Sky News reports one pilot was on board the helicopter when it crashed into a crane, 2 cars involved; casualty count unknown.
A helicopter crashed into a crane near a railway station in central London during the morning rush hour on Wednesday, bursting into flames and throwing plumes of smoke into the air.
Police said it was too early to say if there were any casualties.
"It appears a helicopter was in collision with a crane on top of a building," London police said.
Sky News said one pilot was on board the helicopter when it hit the crane on a building site near Vauxhall train station, a major commuter station on the south side of London, shortly after 0800 GMT.
Sky reported that two cars were involved in the incident. TV footage showed flaming wreckage strewn across a road.
"You can see smoke billowing out just past the bridge," Robert Oxley, who witnessed the incident, told Sky News.
London City Airport said flights had been disrupted on Wednesday due to low visibility.
British police said there was nothing to suggest a terrorism link to the helicopter crash.
"There's nothing in our world at this stage," a spokesman for London's Counter Terrorism Command said. "There's nothing to suggest any terrorism link."

Jews, GET OUT of EUROPE!
May 24, 2014 Today, there is a strong political polarization, especially in Holland. Radicals from both sides of the political spectrum have become more extreme, and the middle ground is disappearing. I can't walk a whole day in the street without having at least one person shout the words "dirty Jew" at me, because I am visibly Jewish.
If so, one hates to think what it's like in the high-scoring countries.
The Anti-Defamation League created a stir last week by releasing the results of a global survey of antisemitism, the most comprehensive ever.
These results are considered shocking by many. Actually, for those who bother to keep up with reality, they contain no surprises.
The Middle East and North Africa come out worst, with 74 percent among population groups qualifying as antisemitic according to the poll’s 11-question index. The most antisemitic political entities in the world? The West Bank and Gaza, coming in at 93 percent. (Yes, those same Palestinians with whom Israel is always under pressure to “make peace.”)
The next worst region is Eastern Europe, with 34 percent scoring as antisemites. But not too far behind is Western Europe—the home of multiculturalism, advanced environmental awareness, bevies of human rights NGOs, and so on—at 24 percent.
The West European countries scoring highest for antisemitism were Greece with a whopping 69 percent, France at 37 percent, and Spain at 29 percent. Germany did itself proud by coming in above the West European average at 27 percent—a bit over one-quarter antisemitic seven decades after the Holocaust.
Over the weekend the European Jewish Association (EJA), along with other European Jewish organizations,
held a briefing on the survey in Brussels for EU ambassadors and officials.
ISIS planning to attack UK
June 18, 2014 British PM David Cameron said an Islamist regime in the middle of Iraq would affect Britain, because they are planning to attack us here at home in the United Kingdom. Witnesses have said that a white man speaking fluent British English led al-Shabaab Muslim jihadists in a Sunday attack on hotels in Mpeketoni Kenya that left 60 people dead. A pale-skinned man who spoke both English and Arabic was seen leading the gang of 40 Muslim terrorists that ransacked the town.
David Cameron claimed ISIS plan to attack Britain. (ISIS said they are.)

London Takes Lead Seizing on China’s Yuan Push as Trading Starts
By clinching a deal allowing the direct exchange of the yuan for British pounds, the U.K. got the jump on European counterparts grappling to become a hub for the most-used currency in global trade after the U.S. dollar.
While four other nations had already signed such accords with China, the U.K.’s deal yesterday made it the first European country to do so. London has been competing with cities including Frankfurt to become Europe’s offshore yuan hub. Direct trading of the yuan-pound pair is scheduled to start today.
“Given the sheer pace and scale of growth in renminbi trade, the opportunity for London cannot be overstated,” Peter Sands, group chief executive at Standard Chartered Plc in London, said by e-mail yesterday. “The appointment of an official clearer is a logical step in London’s development as a leading offshore renminbi center.”
China is seeking to strengthen commercial relations with countries including the U.K. as Premier Li Keqiang this week outlined a goal to expand trade with the country to $100 billion by the end of 2015.
“We are keen to see the renminbi reach its next stage of development through expanded use as an investment currency, and view the establishment of a liquidity pool in London as a critical step in that process,” Evan Goldstein, Deutsche Bank AG’s global head of renminbi services in Hong Kong, said in an e-mailed statement yesterday.
The People’s Bank of China appointed China Construction Bank Co., the nation’s second-largest lender, as London’s first yuan clearing bank yesterday.
The pound is the fifth major currency to trade directly against the yuan in Shanghai, joining the Australian and New Zealand dollars, the Japanese yen and the U.S. dollar and beating plans by Singapore and South Korea. The yuan overtook the euro in December to become the most used currency in global trade finance after the dollar, according to HSBC Holdings Plc. It will become fully convertible in the next two to three years.
The introduction of the currency pair will help lower foreign-exchange transaction costs between the U.K. and China, the PBOC said in a statement yesterday.
The bank announces a daily reference rate for the yuan against the British pound at around 9:15 a.m. in Shanghai on each trading day, even prior to the start of the direct trading. The rate was set at 10.4413 per pound yesterday, compared with 10.4439 the previous day, according to the China Foreign Exchange Trade System.
Direct trading means the fixing will be computed without involving a cross rate with the U.S. dollar. HSBC was selected by the PBOC to be among the first batch of market makers for the direct trading of the Chinese and British currencies.
“Long-term financing in renminbi is much needed to support the real economy and further develop the next phase of China’s market development,” Spencer Lake, global head of capital financing at HSBC in London, said by e-mail yesterday.
China’s currency ranked seventh for global payments in April, according to the Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications, and the U.K. trailed both Hong Kong and Singapore in handling these transactions.
Singapore announced plans to start direct trading between its currency and the yuan in October, while South Korea is making preparations for a direct link of the won and the yuan, aiming to start it within the year, Reuters reported yesterday, citing Choi Hee-nam, head of the finance ministry’s international finance bureau.
“Connecting British firms and markets to China’s extraordinary expansion is a key part of our economic plan, because it brings jobs and investment to our country,” George Osborne, Chancellor of the Exchequer, said in a statement yesterday.
Britain nears EU exit after Cameron loss, papers say
London (AFP) - Newspapers warned Saturday the country had edged closer to leaving the EU after Prime Minister David Cameron's "crushing" failure to block Jean-Claude Juncker becoming president of the European Commission.
But they were divided on whether it was Cameron or Brussels who was most to blame for making it harder to convince Britons to vote to stay in the European Union in a 2017 referendum.
"One step closer to quitting Europe," the Daily Telegraph said in its main front page headline, while Rupert Murdoch's The Times said: "Britain nears EU exit."
The Guardian ran with the almost identical "Britain closer to EU exit after Juncker vote", and the Independent said: "Cameron Crushed - and UK edges closer to an EU exit."
The Sun took a more predictably patriotic line with the headline: "Cam: We're at war with EU."
Some newspapers were heavily critical of Cameron's handling of the Juncker battle, which was widely viewed as making it harder for him to win the renegotiation of Britain's terms of membership that he has promised before the referendum.
"Loser Cameron branded the Rooney of Europe," the Daily Mail said.
In an editorial, the Independent called it "a defeat -- and a disaster."
"Splendid isolation is not the way to win arguments in the EU," it said.
Cameron "could become the accidental hero of the eurosceptics, the man who leads the UK into an accidental exit from the EU," it added.
The Financial Times said it was a "historic shift of power in the EU" as well as being a "dangerous moment for Britain's relations with Europe."
But The Times said that Britain was better off in "splendid isolation".
"The appointment of Jean-Claude Juncker is bad for the EU. David Cameron was right to oppose it to the bitter end," it said in its leader column.
It added that Cameron had "strengthened Britain's position with his robust opposition" and even his own chances in the UK's general election next year.
The Telegraph laid the blame squarely with the EU, saying it was up to Brussels to make the argument for Britain remaining in the bloc.
"If Europe wanted to drive Britain away, then the appointment of Jean-Claude Juncker was the way to go about it," it said in a leading article.
"Mr. Cameron must now make his argument. But given that this latest insult -- a blow to British ambitions -- has come from within the EU, it is also up to the EU to make its own case as to why we should stay."[/b]
I'm not trying to spread fear or make some kind of "prediction" here - but does anyone remember Operation Blackjack that one of the UK MSM outlets put out in their comic strips 5 years ago? When I read these articles posted above, for some reason it made me think of this.

Gatwick passenger from Sierra Leone vomiting
August 4, 2014 A passenger from Sierra Leone collapsed and died as she got off a plane at London Gatwick. She was sweating and vomiting before she collapsed, and she died in hospital.

Officials desperately tried to trace everyone who had been in contact with the woman.
Ebola test carried out after air passenger death in UK
A test for Ebola has been carried out on a female passenger who died after arriving in the UK from The Gambia.
The Department for Health said the test on the elderly woman, who landed at Gatwick Airport, came back negative on Sunday afternoon.
Some 728 people have died of Ebola in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone this year, in the worst-ever outbreak of the disease.
Public Health England says the risk to the UK remains very low.
The Ebola virus spreads through human contact with a sufferer's bodily fluids.
Initial flu-like symptoms can lead to external haemorrhaging from areas like eyes and gums, and internal bleeding which can lead to organ failure. The current mortality rate is about 55%.
'No public health risk'
The woman, believed to be in her early 70s, had been a passenger on a Gambia Bird flight that arrived at Gatwick on Saturday morning.
She collapsed at the airport and was later pronounced dead in hospital.
A Department of Health spokeswoman said the passenger's symptoms had not suggested she was an Ebola victim but the test was carried out because she had travelled from West Africa.
Dr Brian McCloskey, director of global public health at Public Health England (PHE), said: "There was no health risk to other passengers or crew, as the passenger did not have symptoms during the flight.
"It was considered very unlikely to be a case of Ebola but testing was done as a precaution, and was negative.
"The correct procedures were followed to confirm there was no reason to quarantine the airplane, the passengers or staff. PHE can confirm there was no public health risk around the sad death of this individual."
A Gatwick spokeswoman said the aircraft, as well as some airline and airport staff, were isolated "as a precaution" but that the plane was later cleared for its return journey.
Foreign Secretary Philip Hammond has said the government is taking the outbreak, and the threat to the UK, "very seriously".
Ministers have discussed what precautionary measures could be taken if any UK nationals in West Africa become infected with Ebola.
Public Health England has advised UK medical staff to watch out for unexplained illnesses in patients who have visited West Africa.
It said no cases of imported Ebola have ever been reported in the UK.
The US is to send at least 50 public health experts to the region to help fight the disease. They are expected to arrive in the next month.
Meanwhile, American Ebola patient Dr Kent Brantly is improving in hospital after returning to the US from Liberia. Another infected US citizen, aid worker Nancy Writebol, is expected to arrive in the US soon.

and we know BBC lies and is biased and deceptive
and we know the agenda calls for killing off 80% of humans on earth

Gatwick passenger collapses and dies getting off Sierra Leone flight
August 4, 2014 ENGLAND - Airport staff told of their fears of an Ebola outbreak after a passenger from Sierra Leone collapsed and died as she got off a plane at Gatwick. Workers said they were terrified the virus could spread globally through the busy international hub.
The woman became ill on the gangway after she left a Gambia Bird jet with 128 passengers on board. She died in hospital on Saturday. Tests were carried out to see if the woman had the disease. The plane was quarantined as officials desperately tried to trace everyone who had been in contact with the woman.
The woman showed no symptoms during the flight, fell ill shortly after disembarking.
Military jets escort Qatar plane
5 August 2014 The Qatar Airways plane was escorted in to land by the Royal Air Force (RAF) following information received by the pilot.
Greater Manchester Police said officers were treating it as a "full emergency" as they did not know "how genuine this threat is".
All flights in and out of the airport have been temporarily suspended.
It is understood the plane involved is an Airbus A330, which was escorted by a Typhoon from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire.
Qatar plane bomb scare
August 6, 2014 Police took a passenger off a Qatari Airways plane on suspicion of making a hoax bomb threat which caused an emergency at Manchester airport in Britain. RAF jets were scrambled to escort the plane into landing after the pilot reported a possible device on board. As the plane landed, emergency and terrorist units closed in. Manchester is now back to normal after flights in and out were diverted to Leeds Bradford.
UNITED KINGDOM - Several Britons quarantined for Ebola amidst claims the virus may be airborne
August 7, 2014 Several British nationals have been voluntarily quarantined with suspected Ebola.
The number of people quarantined and their exact location have not been confirmed, but they are spread across the UK. The problem faced by public health authorities is that tests for Ebola are ineffective until the patients show symptoms. This means that they have to wait up to 21 days, which is the maximum incubation period. The World Health Organization has also claimed that the virus is spreading faster than they can control. This may be because of a misunderstanding about how the virus is transmitted; in 2012 a study suggested that Ebola may be transmitted through the air. Whilst the study was not conclusive the BBC reported that Canadian scientists had found that Ebola had been transmitted between animals that had never come into direct contact. This suggests that the current theory that it is only transmitted by exchange of bodily fluids may be wrong. However it is known that the individual in Cardiff has been confined to their home for the past week, after they returned from West Africa. The person visited West Africa where more than 1,600 people have been infected with the virus in recent months, resulting in 887 deaths. Public Health Wales said the person is “currently staying away from work and limiting contact with other people voluntarily.” A health official admitted there were “several cases” across the UK, but stressed the quarantines were purely a precaution as none of them had developed any symptoms of Ebola.
There are other people in the UK that have come back from affected countries and have been at risk. They have been monitored for an incubation period to check they have not gone onto develop symptoms. There is a Quarantine process for dealing with returning travelers and this is an example of that.

Ebola Brit to be flown to UK
August 24, 2014 A British man who contracted Ebola virus in Sierra Leone is being brought back to the UK on an RAF jet. He is being flown to RAF Northolt then to to an isolation unit at the Royal Free Hospital in north London.
He is the first British ebola victim.
The patient is being medically evacuated in an C17 RAF aircraft, which has been specially equipped.
The Briton was volunteering at a clinic in Kenema, Sierra Leone. Public Health England reassured the public that all health agency protocols had been promptly activated.
Protective measures will be strictly maintained to minimise the risk of transmission to staff transporting the patient to the UK and healthcare workers treating the individual.

Giant sink-hole near Cowshill in Northeast England
August 26, 2014 UK Hole could keep growing
A giant sinkhole that has opened up on farmland in County Durham has continued to cause increasing concern as it threatens to get bigger, a landowner said. John Hensby, 71, from Cowshill near Bishop Auckland, said he had been warned the 110ft (35m) wide chasm would grow. It opened up on Mr Henby’s land, above an old lead mine, about 260ft (80m) from his house.
Growing: A 30-metre (100ft) wide sinkhole has opened up in county Durham in the north-east of England, and it is so deep that its bottom cannot be seen. The gaping void, thought to be the result of mine workings, was discovered on Thursday by Sam Hillyard, a Durham University academic, at Cowshill, in the rural area of Weardale – and it has since grown three times as big. The 39-year-old had been out shooting rabbits and was returning to her home when she noticed the hole. Hillyard’s partner, John Hensby, a 71-year-old retired sales trainer, said: “Sam came back and she was looking quite shocked. She told me that a hole had appeared and I said I best go and have a look. At the time, it was about five meters round. Throughout Thursday night it got bigger and bigger until it was about three times that size on Friday morning. It is about 35 meters wide and you can’t see the bottom of it. The sound was phenomenal. We could hear rumbling and smashing and crashing from down below – all of these great lumps of earth were falling in and falling in. If one of the dogs or the sheep fell in we would never see them again. The couple fear the coming rain will make the hole bigger still.”
Yep, they are happening worldwide - cracks, holes, etc
U.K. Raises Its Terror Threat Level to 'Severe' in Response to ISIL
The United Kingdom has raised its terror threat level to "severe" in response to the advances of the Islamic State, Prime Minister David Cameron announced on Friday.
Cameron, in a televised statement from London, said it was the first time in three years that the nation's threat level had been that high. It had previously been at "substantial."
A "severe" threat level means an attack is "highly likely," Cameron said, although he did not cite specific intelligence.
The change was made by Britain's Joint Terrorism Assessment Centre following ISIL's advance in Iraq and Syria and its videotaped beheading of American photojournalist James Foley earlier this month. Cameron noted the British accent of Foley's killer in the video, and he said "at least 500" people have now traveled from Britain to fight with ISIL in Iraq and Syria.
ISIL, Cameron said, presents "a greater and deeper threat to our security than we have known before."
He called the Islamic State "a poisonous ideology of Islamist extremism" that must be confronted head-on.
"We cannot appease this ideology. We have to confront it at home and abroad," Cameron said.
He said the country would impose tighter restrictions on the travel of foreign nationals, among other steps. He voiced support for the airstrikes President Obama has ordered in Iraq, but he gave no indication that the U.K. would be joining the military campaign.
"The key point is that military force is just one element of what we can do," Cameron said.
He said he believed the West would be fighting the extremist ideology of ISIL "for years and probably for decades"
UK: Passports could be seized to fight terrorism
LONDON (AP) — Prime Minister David Cameron on Monday proposed new laws that would give police the power to seize the passports of Britons suspected of having traveled abroad to fight with terrorist groups.
Speaking to Parliament, Cameron said his government is also working on plans to block such suspected British jihadi fighters from re-entering the U.K. The power to monitor such suspects who are already in Britain would also be strengthened.
The plans to widen Britain's anti-terror laws, which are likely to be approved by parliament, are aimed at preventing attacks by Islamist militants returning from terror training in trouble spots in the Middle East.
Like other Western countries such as the U.S., France and Germany, Britain is worried that citizens who travel abroad to join terror groups could threaten their home country when they return.
Intelligence and security services suspect that around 500 Britons have gone to fight in Syria and potentially Iraq. Cameron has described the extremism posed by the Islamic State group as the biggest security threat of modern times — surpassing that of al-Qaida — and said it poses a direct threat to Europe.
Britain's Home Secretary already has the authority to withhold passports in some cases, but Cameron said more is needed to ensure police at border crossings could act in time when they spot a suspect.
"We will introduce specific and targeted legislation to fill this gap by providing the police with a temporary power to seize a passport at the border, during which time they will be able to investigate the individual concerned," he said.
Authorities on Friday raised Britain's terror threat alert from "substantial" to "severe," the second-highest level, in response to the crises in Iraq and Syria and concerns that terrorist groups could target Europe. The alert means that an attack on Britain is "highly likely" — though the government did not provide information to suggest an attack was imminent.
Pupils at 'Trojan Horse' school were shown jihadist video
MPs on the Commons Education Select Committee are told that pupils from a school at the centre of the alleged "Trojan Horse" plot were shown an extremist film by staff
Pupils from a Birmingham school at the centre of the so-called “Trojan Horse” investigation were shown a jihadist promotional video in the classroom, it has been revealed.
Ian Kershaw, who conducted an inquiry on behalf of Birmingham City Council, said the film portrayed images of “violent extremism” had been played to children despite concerns it was “completely unacceptable”.
Giving evidence to MPs on Tuesday, he insisted senior staff at the school – which was not named – failed to discipline the teacher involved after the incident came to light.
Peter Clarke, the former Scotland Yard anti-terror chief, told how a similar film may have been “shown or copied” by a technician within one of Birmingham’s schools.
He also said it was likely that issues had spread beyond schools in the city and called on the Department for Education to “take a very careful look at whether the sorts of things that we found in Birmingham are indeed happening elsewhere”.
London's Luton airport reopens after alert
LONDON (AP) — Hundreds of passengers were evacuated and flights were suspended for hours Monday from Luton Airport near London after a suspicious package was found in a security-screening area.
Passengers were stranded outside the terminal as emergency services examined the suspicious item. The approach road to the airport was closed, triggering long delays for motorists.
An army bomb-disposal squad blew up the item in a controlled explosion and police said it was not dangerous. The airport reopened around 6 p.m.
Budget airline EasyJet said six flights landing at Luton had been diverted to other airports and 12 flights had been canceled as a result of the security scare.
Luton, northwest of London, caters mostly to short-haul flights by budget airlines.

Sept 14, 2014 Cameron calls urgent meeting of Cobra emergency committee
British PM David Cameron condemned the murder of Brit David Haines, and called an urgent meeting to determine Britain’s response. Supposedly ISIS released a photoshopt video of the beheading.

It was the third isis apparent beheading of a Western hostage in less than a month.
First UK said NO to Obama, then the supposed beheading, then UK said YES.
The UK had said NO to Obama - but then supposedly a UK person was beheaded supposedly by isis. This is way too suspicious. Whoever control Obama is controlling isis also. I dont believe any of these 3 beheadings occurred. I believe the video was shopped.
Cameron is a phony - like obama he claims isis are not Muslims, not islamic.

South Molton paper's homosexuality column criticised
A newspaper column that branded homosexuality "an aberration", linking it to the collapse of "great empires", has been criticised by gay rights groups.
The South Molton and District News article was written under the pseudonym Grave Turner.
Editor Paul Henderson said he stood by his decision to publish it but said he was not homophobic.
He confirmed police had questioned him after a complaint was made.
'Treated with sympathy'
The columnist has not commented on the issue.
The paper has a circulation of about 2,000 in north Devon, with the article generating five complaints since it was published on 3 September, said Mr Henderson.
Michael Halls, from the Intercom Trust, which supports the lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and trans community, said: "We have a lot of respect for the idea of free speech and we don't want to stop people expressing views and opinions but this article is hurtful and offence and that is deplorable. It's also full of errors.
"I really wonder what the motivation of the author and the publisher could have been."
The article said: "Clearly homosexuality is a naturally occurring phenomenon, that is nonetheless, an aberration.
"Such persons as suffer from it should be treated with sympathy and understanding.
'Anarchy take over'
"It was not homosexuality per se that caused the collapse of the great civilising empires of Greece, Rome, Britain, et al, but rather public acceptance of it was the exclamation mark that signalled the end of empire.
"Slowly, but surely, anarchy will take over."
Richard Lane, from Stonewall, said: "It seems that Mr Turner needs to spend a little bit more time re-reading his history books and a little less time writing unpleasant articles denigrating loving, committed same-sex couples."
Mr Henderson said: "It was very, very close to the mark. It has not broken any laws as far as I'm aware.
"I'm not anti-gay or homophobic.
"It has created interesting discussions and a full right of reply will be published in the next edition."
Mr Henderson said he had been questioned by Devon and Cornwall Police following a complaint to its diversity unit, but as far as he was aware no further action would be taken.
The force said it was aware of the article but was unable to provide further information until they had spoken to all involved.
Britain undecided on Syria airstrikes
Sept 24, 2014 PM Cameron backs US-Arab airstrikes on Syria.
Britain remains undecided as to whether it will join US airstrikes in Syria.
America, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Jordan and the UAE used fighter jets, bombers and Tomahawk cruise missiles in Syrian raids. The USAF F-22 Rapture used in the fight.
Syria was informed hours before the attacks began, but Assad permission was not sought, raising questions over legality.
Business Secretary Chuka Umunna said it was inconceivable that Cameron could commit to airstrikes without the approval of Parliament. ALSO it is inconceivable that Barak Obama should take such action on his own without a vote from US Congress.
The USAF F-22 Raptor used in the fight.

How Gun Control Made England The 'Most Violent Country In Europe'
Gun control in Britain passed in stages, beginning just after World War I and continuing in a reactionary fashion with increasing strictness through the 1990s.
When the final stage arrived in 1997, and virtually all handguns were banned via the Firearms Act, the promise was a reduction in crime and greater safety for the British people. But the result was the emergence of Britain as the "most violent country in Europe."
Britain began placing restrictions on gun ownership after World War I with the Firearms Act of 1920. The passage of this act was emotionally driven, based in part on the public's war-weariness and in part on the fear that an increased number of guns--guns from the battle field--would increase crime.
The Firearms Act of 1920 did not ban guns. Rather, it required that citizens who wanted a gun had to first obtain a certificate from the government. We see this same stage taking place in various places in the United States now, where a person who wants a firearm has to get a Fire Owner Identification Card (Illinois) or has to be vetted by police (Massachusetts) or both.
Thirteen years after the passage of the Firearms Act, British Parliament passed the Firearms and Imitation Firearms Bill, making the possession of a replica gun or a real one equally punishable unless the owner of either could show the lawful purpose for which he had it. (Sounds like California?) This was followed by the Firearms Act of 1937, which author Frank Miniter says "extended restrictions to shotguns and granted chief constables the power to add conditions to individual private firearm certificates."
In the U.S., police departments in Massachusetts play the role Britain's chief constables played and have final say on who can or can't own a firearm. On July 25, Breitbart News reported that that Massachusetts police were pressing for "sole discretion" on who could own a long gun; they already had such discretion over who could own a handgun. On August 1, they received the power they sought.
Britain continued to issue firearm certificates as World War II set in. But by the time the war was over, the gun control mindset had permeated society to a point where self-defense was no longer a valid reason to secure a certificate for gun ownership.
Guns were simply for sport or for hunting.
In 1987, Michael Ryan shot and killed sixteen people in Hungerford, including his mother. He wounded fourteen others, then killed himself. According to the Library of Congress, Ryan used "lawfully owned" rifles to carry out the attack. Nevertheless, his attack prompted the passage of more laws in the form of the Firearms Act of 1988. This act "banned the possession of high-powered self loading rifles" and "burst-firing weapons," and imposed "stricter standards for ownership" to secure a government certificate to own a shotgun.
In 1996, Thomas Hamilton walked into an elementary school in Dunblane, Scotland, and shot and killed "sixteen small children...and their teacher in the gym before killing himself." He brought two rifles and four handguns to carry out the attack. All six guns were legally owned: Hamilton had fully complied with gun control statutes.
The Firearm Act of 1997 was passed while emotions ran high. Gun control proponents push for an all-out ban on private gun ownership, in the much the same way that Senator Dianne Feinstein (D-CA) reacted to the heinous crime at Sandy Hook Elementary by trying to ban approximately 150 different guns.
Yet the Firearm Act did not ban all guns, "but served to essentially prohibit the ownership of handguns in Britain" and to make the acquisition of certificate to possess a long gun an onerous and time-consuming one. Much the same as the onerous and time-consuming process now burdening law-abiding DC residents seeking a gun in the home for self-defense.
And what has been the outcome of passing more laws in Britain to remedy the fact that other laws were ignored or broken? It has not been good.
In 2009, twelve years after the Firearms Act of 1997 was passed, Daily Mail Online reported that Britain was "the most violent country in Europe." They also reported that Britain's home figures showed "the UK [had] a worse rate for all types of violence than the U.S. and South Africa."

UK MPs’ ‘Yes’ to Palestine
14 Oct 2014 Now that the Parliament of the former mandatory power has endorsed Palestinian statehood, it may become harder for Israel to stave off similar moves elsewhere.
British MPs’ overwhelming 274-12 vote to urge their government to recognize a Palestinian state is no diplomatic earthquake. But it is certainly a tremor — and it could expand into a major fault that makes it increasingly difficult for Israel to argue against such unilateral moves.

Christians outraged by orders to teach 'other faiths'
New British government threats that a Christian school, which previously was rated “good” and “excellent,” may be closed if it doesn’t promote “other faiths” are based on new regulations that need to be reviewed, according to school officials.
WND reported the U.K.’s official education inspector told an independent Christian school that it is out of step with “British values” prescribed by the government and must invite someone from another faith, such as a Muslim imam, to lead assemblies or it risks being closed.
The threat comes amid a series of new school inspections imposed by the government in response to a “Trojan horse” scandal in which several public schools in Birmingham, England, were taken over by Muslim managers who imposed Islamic education standards.
The U.K.’s Office for Standards in Education, Children’s Services and Skills, known as Ofsted, then established new rules requiring the active promotion of “British values” such as tolerance.
Schools That Teach Against Homosexuality Will Be Shut Down
Nov, 5, 2014 England Makes A New Law.
The homo tyranny is only getting worse and worse. With the increase of tolerance for evil, comes the increase of tyranny. Now the British government is decreeing that any school that teaches against homosexuality will be closed, according to the Daily Mail:
Schools found ‘indoctrinating pupils about gay people’ will face being closed down under new rules designed to promote ‘British values’, the Government confirmed today.
The Department for Education insisted it was ‘nonsense’ to suggest teachers would have to give lessons on gay rights.
But a spokesman insisted Ofsted, which has introduced the new rules the wake of the Islamist Trojan Horse plot to radicalise pupils in Birmingham, was right to ensure schools were not breeding grounds for homophobia.
A spokesman said: ‘Ofsted are rightly ensuring that schools do not indoctrinate pupils about gay people – or any other people – being inferior.
‘The same goes for schools that do things like make girls sit separately at the back of the class. Both are practices which go directly against the fundamental British values of tolerance and respect.
‘We believe schools should prepare all pupils for life in modern Britain. A broad and balanced curriculum is vital for this.’
But the spokesman said it was ‘nonsense’ to say children would
be taught gay rights.
Labour’s shadow education secretary Tristram Hunt said Mrs Morgan ‘clearly does not believe that LGBT rights are British values’.
He said: ‘Compulsory sex and relationship education, including LGBT rights, in all schools is common sense, not nonsense.
‘Nicky Morgan should apologise for the offence that has been caused by claiming that it is nonsense for all schools to teach gay rights.’
It came after the Education Secretary Nicky Morgan – who said
last week that she had changed her mind about gay marriage after voting against its introduction – warned schools not to ‘close minds’.
She told the Sunday Times that schools must teach ‘pupils to respect other people even if they do not agree with them’.
Mrs Morgan said: ‘I should have thought this is a principle with which the vast majority of people would agree. All schools of whatever type have a duty to protect young people and to ensure they leave school fully prepared for life in modern Britain.
‘These values — democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, and mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs — are not new. The requirement to “actively promote” them is designed to reinforce the importance this government attaches to these values.’
Schools have been warned that those that fail to follow new rules on British values will be judged inadequate and could face closure by Ofsted inspectors.
The move follows snap inspections by Ofsted at 40 schools, including those for Christian and Jewish pupils. They were launched in the wake of the Trojan Horse affair in Birmingham as part of the government’s efforts to combat extremism.
Mrs Morgan is backing Ofsted chief Sir Michael Wilshaw who will say that any school suspected of not teaching a broad and balanced curriculum, of rapidly falling standards or of not preparing children for life in modern Britain will face no-notice inspections.
For the first time the rules give inspectors the powers to downgrade schools where teachers are breaching the Equality Act, which encourages respect for lesbian, gay and transgender people as well as those of other religions and races.

November 27, 2014 - The Royal Navy may ask US squadrons to fly off its new aircraft carrier following delays to its new F35B fighters. The US Marines would be offered the use of HMS Queen Elizabeth for flight operations. Doubts about the F35 caused successive delays to the UK decision on this plane.
Asking US jets to fly from the Queen Elizabeth would be a sensible way of bridging the gap between the carrier being completed, and a British squadron of jets being available.

BBC director Danny Cohen: Rising UK antisemitism makes me feel more uncomfortable than ever
The director of television at the BBC has said he has “never felt so uncomfortable as a Jew in the UK” as it was revealed that antisemitic incidents in Britain hit record annual levels in 2014.
Danny Cohen used the platform of a conference in Jerusalem to express his fears over what he identified as growing levels of hostility towards Jewish communities in Britain and in other parts of Europe.
“I’ve never felt so uncomfortable being a Jew in the UK as I’ve felt in the last 12 months. And it’s made me think about, you know, is it our long-term home, actually? Because you feel it. I’ve felt it in a way I’ve never felt before,” he said.
Mr Cohen, 40, the former controller of BBC1, said levels of hatred were on the rise across Europe. “You’ve seen the number of attacks rise, you’ve seen murders in France, you’ve seen murders in Belgium. It’s been pretty grim actually,” he told an audience at Jerusalem Cinematheque at a conference addressing the ability of comedy to drive forward social change.
A native north Londoner, he said: “Having lived all my life in the UK, I’ve never felt as I do now about antisemitism in Europe.”
Although Cohen made no reference to his job in his comments, the BBC has been the target of a series of angry public protests this year from crowds critical of Israel’s actions in the recent conflict in Gaza. The broadcaster was accused of failing to fairly represent the plight and position of Palestinians in the violence, which followed Israel’s launch of Operation Protective Edge in July.
The Gaza conflict led to a sharp rise in antisemitic incidents in Britain, where the Jewish community amounts to 260,000. Following a pro-Palestinian rally in July, a group of young men drove in convoy through a Jewish part of Greater Manchester shouting “Heil Hitler” and throwing eggs and drinks cans at pedestrians. Four teenagers were charged with a physical attack on a rabbi in Gateshead. A sign saying “Child Murderers” was placed outside the Kingston Synagogue, south-west London, in August.
Vivian Wineman, of the Board of Deputies of British Jews, told The Independent that the number of recorded antisemitic incidents for 2014 was “the highest since records began”, although there has been a fall-off in recent months.
“Whilst we have much to celebrate about being Jewish in the UK, a summer filled with hostile, anti-Zionist demonstrations has clearly left its mark,” he said.
“Compared to other countries in Europe, the UK still has relatively low levels of antisemitism and it is reassuring to note that the number of recorded antisemitic incidents is returning to former levels. However we must not rest on our laurels. The Board, alongside other Jewish organisations, will continue to work together with government and others to combat this deeply concerning trend.”
Mr Cohen recently announced the BBC’s ambitious plans to mark the 70th anniversary of the liberation of Auschwitz on 27 January. Holocaust Memorial Day will include a screening of the 10-hour documentary Shoah. In The Eichmann Show, Martin Freeman will play TV producer Milton Fruchtman, who covered the trial of Adolf Eichmann, an architect of the Nazi plan to exterminate Europe’s Jews. Mr Cohen’s decision to give the event high prominence has been described as a response to “growing concern about a rise in antisemitism across Europe”.
UK nurse with Ebola in critical condition
January 4, 2015 - The condition of a British nurse being treated for Ebola in Royal Free Hospital in London is critical after deteriorating over the last two days. The Hospital has been treating Pauline Cafferkey with blood plasma from an Ebola survivor and an experimental anti-viral drug. She was diagnosed with the disease last week after returning to Britain Dec. 28 from Sierra Leone.
Cafferkey is the first person to have been diagnosed with Ebola in Britain.
Cafferkey had worked as a volunteer nurse in Sierra Leone, West Africa
She arrived Dec. 28 at London's Heathrow Airport then to Glasgow Scotland.
Passengers and crew members on Cafferkey's flight from London to Glasgow, as well as on an earlier flight she took from Casablanca, Morocco to London, have been contacted.
Bank of England unaware of impending financial crisis
January 7, 2015 - A month before the start of the financial crisis, the Bank of England was apparently unaware of the impending danger. It has published minutes of top-secret meetings of its governing body between 2007 and 2009.
The minutes show that the Bank did identify liquidity as a "central concern" in July 2007.
However no action was taken as a result.
The documents show that the Bank also used a series of code names for banks that were in trouble.
Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) was known as "Phoenix", and Lloyds TSB as "Lark".
* Phoenix is always code for the NWO.
Deflation hits eurozone
January 7, 2015 - Inflation in the eurozone has turned negative, with prices in December 0.2% lower than the same month a year earlier. The fall in prices was driven mainly by lower energy costs following the recent drop in the price of oil.
No-Go Zones, FRANCE, BRITAIN, USA
France has 751 No-Go Zones. The Police cannot and will not go into them – they are mini states inside France, set up and established under Sharia Law with the blessing of the French Government. These No-Go Zones have millions of Muslims and it is too late for France to reverse it.
Sweden and France and GONE, with the rest of Europe not far behind. More French Jews left France for Israel in 2014 than ever before, and many more are getting ready to leave now. Today they are able to leave freely but that door will close in the very near future.
Thousands of ISIS fighters cross into Iraq via Turkey everyday with Turkey’s blessing hoping that the French Muslims will kill the Kurds.
London has many No-Go Zones as well and the threat is growing very fast. Europe is finished.
Muslim terrorists who love death more than you love life are training in terrorist camps all over the Middle East and even in the USA.
Did you know that the US now have a Muslim government? (Yes I know)
There are at least 35 terrorist training camps across the USA - No-Go Zones in America.
Most are in rural areas but there are some in places like Dearborn Michigan and other cities such as Detroit. The FBI and the CIA know who and where they are. But as long as a Muslim sits in the White House nothing will be done.
The US Government will go after Christians with tanks and armed soldiers but will do nothing to stop the Muslims. Do you understand why Obama refuses to say the words “radical Islam.”
Barack Hussein Obama is a Muslim himself and many staffers are Muslims.
John Brennan, head of the CIA converted to Islam.
Obama’s top advisor, Valerie Jarrett, is a Muslim who was born in Iran.
Hillary Clinton’s top advisor, Huma Abedin is a Muslim, whose family are involved in Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt.
Homeland Security Advisor, Mohammed Elibiary and Arif Aikhan are Muslims.
It’s questionable if Obama ever officially took the oath of office when he was Sworn in. He didn’t repeat the oath properly, and he was supposedly given the oath again in private. On Koran? We dont know.
CIA director John Brennan took his oath on an old copy of the Constitution, not a Bible.
Congressman, Keith Ellison took his oath on a copy of the Quran.
Considering all these appointments, it would explain why Obama and his minions are systematically destroying the US, supporting radical Muslim groups worldwide, opening the southern border, and turning a blind eye to the genocide being perpetrated on Christians all over Africa and the Middle East.
The more damage Obama does, the more arrogant he’s become!
The United States has been infiltrated by people who want to destroy it.
It can only get worse!
Pray for the peace of Jerusalem.

Jews have no future in Britain
January 14, 2015 - A new poll shows that half of UK Jews fear they have no future in Britain, anti-Semitic sentiments are more prevalent than believed. British society is at a tipping point with Jewish families increasingly questioning whether to stay in Britain.
Blair's Faith Foundation operates like a 'government-in-waiting' with spin doctors employed to say as little as possible, insider reveals
Tony Blair still works from a ministerial “red box system”, employs five spin doctors and operates a “government-in-waiting” at his Faith Foundation, according to a former employee at the ex-Prime Minister’s advisory group.
Martin Bright, a journalist hired to create a website for the Tony Blair Faith Foundation in January, wrote an insider’s account of his five-month spell working for the wing of “Blair Inc” created to counter religious extremism.
Operating from “ritzy” offices in a West End tower block, Bright described a working atmosphere akin to a “global asset management” firm, punctuated by “morale-boosting doughnut breaks”.
Writing in the Mail on Sunday, the former New Statesman political editor said that he found the experience “frankly weird”.
He asked: “Why did it need no fewer than five press, or ‘comms’, officers recruited from the ranks of special advisers and Downing Street insiders? And why does Tony, as he is ubiquitously known, still work with a prime ministerial 'red box system' for his urgent reading matter, a curious hangover from his days at No 10?”
The Foundation held “Town Hall meetings to let us air our concerns. Every Thursday, senior management bought pastries for the staff. We were given monthly training sessions in which we were informed about world religion”.
Bright questioned a “five-person communications department whose sole aim seemed to be to say as little as possible”.
Littered with beanbags and staffed with “young, enthusiastic” graduates, Bright said that he became concerned at the use of unpaid interns and was told a review was underway.
“My suggestion that people should be paid for their work did not go down well. I was told I needed to get a better understanding of the charity’s ethos,” he wrote.
After completing work on his website, Religion And Geopolitics, Bright said he left out of frustration with the Foundation’s bureaucratic structures and Mr Blair’s “strident” positions on world affairs which “is affecting the ability of his charities to work independently”.
Bright, now head of arts charity Creative Society, said that he found Mr Blair personally “engaging, committed and utterly genuine in his belief that we need a better understanding of the role religion plays in global conflict”.
Despite employing 130 people - more than the Prime Minister can call upon in Downing Street – the Foundation lacked the civil service-style resources to match its “grandness” and deliver on Mr Blair’s demands for Foreign Office-style research and policy positions.
A spokesperson for the Tony Blair Faith Foundation said: “The Foundation’s projects, including a global schools programme, malaria prevention work and analysis of the role religion is playing in conflicts around the world are important, urgent and needed.
"We are sad that a former colleague has chosen not to focus on the important work that the foundation undertakes.”
The debate about interns was a “difficult one when it comes to the charitable sector”, the spokesman added. "As a not for profit organisation we have to spend our charitable funds wisely and efficiently. Interns and volunteers make a valuable contribution and also gain a lot from the work experience they receive.
"We have been reviewing our policy as the current scheme closed earlier this year. The final decision on the way forward will be for the leadership of the charity and its trustees when all aspects and views have been considered.”
Since leaving office in 2007, Mr Blair has created a complex network of advisory groups and consultancies, including the Faith Foundation, a Sports Foundation and an Africa Governance Initiative. He has also carved out a role as a global consultant to corporations and foreign regimes. Last month Mr Blair said he was worth a lot less than £20m when quizzed about his wealth.
Male Witches Celebrate First Same-Sex Pagan Wedding in U.K.
Janet, Lady Glamis, burned in 1537, and Janet Horne, burned in 1637, would be delighted at the change in Scotland these days, although much of traditional Christendom might have a different perspective. On Sunday, in Edinburgh, two male witches celebrated the first pagan same-sex marriage in the United Kingdom.
The BBC reported that Tom Lanting, 34, and Iain Robertson, 39, who have lived together for 12 years, tied the knot in a ceremony in Edinburgh’s 16th-century Marlin's Wynd. Both men are hedge witches; the ceremony included rituals such as handfasting, sharing mead and jumping the broom.
According to handfastings.org, handfasting literally means tying the knot: “After the bride and groom both declare their intent to enter into this union, the hands of the couple are clasped and fastened together with a cord or cords just before, just after, or during their vows are made to one another.” The site also explains that the ceremony isn’t exactly the type of commitment found in traditional weddings: “A handfasting can either be a legal marriage (depending on state law), or a commitment for "as long as love shall last.”
Lanting and Robertson stated:
Getting married in a legal pagan ceremony means so much to both of us. The new equal marriage law means that we finally have equal recognition and acceptance of our relationship, and it opens the door for all LGBTI couples to take the same step. As hedge witches we always wanted to have a pagan marriage ceremony in line with our beliefs and it was really important to us to be able to share this ceremony with our friends and family.
Unlike England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, Scotland allows pagans to wed legally; the Pagan Federation in Scotland has celebrated heterosexual pagan marriages since 2005.
Louise Park, the presiding officer for the Pagan Federation (Scotland), who presided over the wedding, ejaculated, "I am absolutely over the moon to have been able to conduct Scotland's - and the UK's - first pagan same-sex marriage for Tom and Iain, who hold a special place in the hearts of Scotland's pagan community."

RAF jets intercept Russian bomber
January 30, 2015 - Two Russian military planes flying near UK airspace caused disruption to civil aviation.
The planes did not enter UK airspace and were escorted by RAF jets.
Typhoon fighters were scrambled from RAF Lossiemouth and RAF Coningsby to escort the Russian aircraft for 12 hours.
Scots Typhoons scrambled to intercept 2 Russian Tu-95 Bear long-range bombers which had flown close to UK airspace. The Russian planes were detected over the English Channel just south of Bournemouth. RAF fighters came within 1,000ft of the bombers before escorting them out of the UK area of interest.
A defence expert said Russian bombers flying close to UK airspace could be viewed as an act of aggression.
The Typhoons were refuelled in the air during the incident by the RAF's Voyager aircraft.
Unmasking Tony Blair’s ‘Interfaith’ Crusade: Using Religious Extremism to Impose a New World Order
6/22/14 Aa sectarian violence re-erupts in war-torn Iraq, Tony Blair has again justified waging the catastrophic Iraq War.
From the pulpit of his interfaith charity, he claims religious extremism is at the root of 21st century conflict – not western wars.
Why does Blair excuse western violence while pushing an “interfaith” agenda where “religious extremists” take all the blame for global strife?
Tony Blair wants the world’s major faiths to play a role in globalisation. But what role? In 2008 he founded his eponymous interfaith foundation to promote “greater knowledge and understanding between people of different faiths,” and advance education in “faith and globalisation”.
The Tony Blair Faith Foundation is a charity and ostensibly benevolent. But the former UK Prime Minister’s recurrent war cries to rally western governments to the cause of fighting “religious extremism” – which he hypes as the prime source of conflict in the 21st century – reveals an agenda and thinking that is warped and not conducive to peace, and completely ignores western culpability in starting wars and fomenting extremism. Blair is taking the same agenda that ushered in an era of war last decade to another arena – that of faith – where he believes the West should fight both through force and ideology.
Given the tragic consequences of Tony Blair’s rhetoric and campaigns in the past, which he continues to justify, it is important to take a closer look at the implications of his post-politics “interfaith” crusade.
From Warmonger to Interfaith Luminary
Tony Blair is considered by many guilty of war crimes for his role in the invasion of Iraq. After George Bush, he was the most influential western leader calling for the unprovoked “pre-emptive strike” and subsequent invasion of a sovereign country based on the supposed imminent threat posed by non-existent weapons of mass destruction (WMDs) – which he told the world Iraq could deploy in just 45 minutes. The invasion and occupation led to the estimated deaths of somewhere between 100,000 and a million people. No WMDs were found and the war did nothing to make western countries safer; rather it inflamed violence, hostility and terrorism. Al Qaeda never existed in Iraq before that war, and now it does. And with renewed violence breaking out, the Iraqi people continue to suffer in the war’s wake.
It is well-known now that the “intelligence” on WMDs used to justify this war of aggression was at best dubious and exaggerated and at worst a complete sham. It is also believed that Tony Blair knew, or should have known, that war would likely throw the country into chaos (the Chilcot inquiry is due to report on the decisions and policies leading up to the invasion, but it continues to be suppressed and key information is expected to be omitted).
Whatever the case, Blair is not apologetic. This month he again defended the decision to go to war in a widely republished essay posted on his website, and once again called for more use of force in Iraq and the Middle East region to deal with religious extremists. Blair’s narrative ignores how Western Governments have encouraged extremism by waging foreign wars as well as directly supporting Islamist militias, which has gone on at least since the US armed and backed the Mujahedeen in Afghanistan in the 1970s, which helped to lay the groundwork for the formation of Al Qaeda. The Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS), responsible for the latest spiralling violence in Iraq, has also been linked to US intelligence – which has been covertly supporting Sunni extremists in Syria to fight the Assad government. Syrian extremists now threaten Iraq. Some believe a deliberate “divide and conquer” strategy is at play here with the US backing both sides in Iraq’s current fighting.
Despite the culpability of Western countries in spurring conflict and fomenting extremists, earlier this year Blair claimed religious extremism is at the root of 21-st century conflict and said a “global strategy” was needed to counter it. He also blamed the bloodshed in Iraq and Afghanistan on extremists, saying the coalition campaigns were “thwarted by religious extremism” in an attempt to exonerate himself.
Religious extremism, though no doubt a source of conflict in the world, is clearly not the cause of major conflicts waged by great powers in recent history. It is strange to see Blair make this argument, while taking no responsibility for his part, and that of Western powers, in starting wars this century. The 2003 Iraq war was waged by western secular countries against Iraq’s Baathist secular government (which was itself formerly backed by the US) for political and economic objectives, not religious ones. Blair not only justifies such imperial incursions, but frequently calls for more. Last year he strongly supported intervening in Syria and arming rebels there (who now threaten Iraq) and this month he called for intervention in Iraq to deal with ISIS.
Blair’s solution to the scourge of extremism? More use of force and interfaith “education”. It is for the latter that he founded the Tony Blair Faith Foundation. Why does Tony Blair of all people preach about religious extremism being the root of conflict today from the pulpit of an interfaith charity he founded and named after himself?
The Tony Blair Faith Foundation: A Charitable Cover for a Global Agenda?
After resigning from politics the previous year, Tony Blair launched his Faith Foundation in 2008 at the Time Warner Center, accompanied by former US President Bill Clinton. Blair said his foundation would concern itself with the world’s six main faiths: Christian, Muslim, Hindu, Buddhist, Sikh and Jewish.
He remarked that, “Globalisation is pushing people together. Interdependence is reality. Peaceful co-existence is essential. If faith becomes a countervailing force, pulling people apart, it becomes destructive and dangerous.”
While indicating he did not want to “engage in a doctrinal inquiry” or “subsume different faiths in one faith of the lowest common denominator” he launched studies into “faith and globalisation” concerned with examining the place of religion in modern society. He also indicated that tackling religious extremism was a major focus of the organisation across multiple faiths and cultures:
“…we will help organisations whose object is to counter extremism and promote reconciliation in matters of religious faith. Though there is much focus, understandably, on extremism associated with the perversion of the proper faith of Islam, there are elements of extremism in every major faith. It is important where people of good faith combat such extremism, that they are supported.”
In spite of his claims the foundation would not seek to “subsume different faiths in one faith”, not everyone is convinced. A common criticism of globalisation is that it homogenises and erodes cultural identities, including religious identities, under a dominant global culture. Some believe this agenda lies behind Tony Blair’s Faith Foundation and its focus on faith and globalisation.
According to Hugh O’Shaughnessy writing in The Guardian in 2011, Tony Blair faced a pushback from his own religion – the Catholic Church – after reportedly making “demands for wholesale changes in Catholic belief and practice”.
O’Shaughnessy also reported of an “attack” on Tony Blair and his Faith Foundation “spearheaded by Professor Michel Schooyans of the Catholic University of Louvain, a specialist in anthropology and political philosophy” who “accused Blair and his wife of supporting a messianic US plan for world domination”. He quoted some of Schooyans’ scathing critique:
“One of the aims of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation will be that of remaking the major religions, just as his colleague Barack Obama will remake global society. With this purpose, the foundation in question will try to expand the ‘new rights’, using the world religions for this end and adapting these for their new duties. The religions will have to be reduced to the same common denominator, which means stripping them of their identity …
This project threatens to set us back to an age in which political power was ascribed the mission of promoting a religious confession, or of changing it. In the case of the Tony Blair Faith Foundation, this is also a matter of promoting one and only one religious confession, which a universal, global political power would impose on the entire world.”
Tony Blair Faith & Globalisation Initiative
Could it be that Tony Blair’s endgame is the formation of a one-world umbrella religion expressed through multiple faiths under one global power, as Professor Michel Schooyans suggests? Could that be part of the reason why Tony Blair is trying so hard to portray “religious extremism” as the root of conflict in the world, while pushing globalisation (backed by use of force) as the cure?
Let’s take a closer look at Tony Blair’s recent rhetoric about religious extremism.
Portraying Religious Extremism as a Global Existential Enemy
This year Tony Blair’s calls to tackle extremism became more strident. In January 2014 when he published his essay in The Observer claiming extremism would “define the nature of peace and conflict in the first half of the 21st century,” he asserted:
“The battles of this century are less likely to be the product of extreme political ideology – like those of the 20th century – but they could easily be fought around the questions of cultural or religious difference.”
He wrote of the need for a “global strategy” to defeat extremism “not only by arms but by ideas” and suggested this war should be waged by introducing tighter controls over religions themselves and over free speech on the internet:
“…security action alone, even military action, will not deal with the root cause. This extremism comes from a source. It is not innate. It is taught. It is taught sometimes in the formal education system; sometimes in the informal religious schools; sometimes in places of worship and it is promoted by a vast network of internet communications.
Technology, so much the harbinger of opportunity, can also be used by those who want to disseminate lessons of hate and division. Today’s world is connected as never before. This has seen enormous advances… But it comes with the inevitable ability for those who want to get across a message that is extreme to do so. This has to be countered.”
He also wrote of a need to “fight the formal, informal and internet propagation of closed-minded intolerance. In the 21st century, education is a security issue.”
So here we see Tony Blair implying that religious differences must somehow be removed through use of arms and ideas to make way for globalisation, and suggests education toward this aim is a security issue. He does not mince his words when he describes what the purpose of his Faith Foundation really is:
“…the purpose is to change the policy of governments: to start to treat this issue of religious extremism as an issue that is about religion as well as politics, to go to the roots of where a false view of religion is being promulgated, and to make it a major item on the agenda of world leaders to combine effectively to combat it. This is a struggle that is only just beginning.”
Then in April he gave another speech calling for the West to unite with Russia and China to fight islamic extremism, which he called the “biggest threat to global security of the early 21st Century”:
It is interesting to note that Tony Blair is quite open about his desire to influence government policy and present extremism as “an issue that is about religion as well as politics” to be combated jointly by world leaders. But who are these world leaders to decide which views of religion are “false” and which are not?
Will ‘Extremism’ be used as a Catch-all to Quash Rights and Dissent?
Perhaps Tony Blair has already made headway in influencing government policy in the UK itself. The government of David Cameron is also increasingly denouncing extremism in its rhetoric.
I recently wrote about the authoritarian web filtering infrastructure introduced by the UK government last year under the pretext of blocking pornography. This occurred on the back of an engineered moral panic about pornography; however, the ISP filtering actually blocks a lot more than porn and the system operates without transparency or oversight.
Recently, the government mentioned its desire to block “extremist” and “unsavoury” content (as opposed to illegal content) on the internet. This is dangerous territory. Content that is illegal can be blocked through transparent legal processes. But who will be the faceless judge that decrees what constitutes an “extreme” view and blocks communications before any law is broken or charges are laid?
Back in 2011 after the UK riots, David Cameron announced he was working with intelligence agencies, police and industry to “stop people from communicating” using social media when they were plotting disorder, in a parliamentary speech that won praise from Chinese state media. Now that a murky system of censorship infrastructure is in place in the UK, the Government has a new lever it can pull behind closed doors to filter out any views it deems “extreme”.
I also explained how the UK government was using its supposed difficulties deporting the Islamic extremist Abu Qatada as a pretext for scrapping the Human Rights Act – when in fact that same extremist was an MI5 asset clothed and fed by British intelligence services. Was the UK government deliberately creating a problem with an extremist as a pretext to curb civil rights? Is this just part of a pattern playing out worldwide on a larger scale, where extremists are used as scapegoats by Western governments to erode rights at home, or bring in draconian laws or give police and intelligence even more powers?
In my view, we should be wary of this rhetoric about extremism, because it may simply be a pretext for a clampdown and assault on everyone’s rights, to justify foreign wars, and to impose a global order. But I also think it will have a significant impact on religious freedom as globalisation advances.
The Endgame for Faith in the New World Order
Tony Blair’s repeated references to religious extremism do seem to suggest he has an agenda to push. But what does he hope to achieve in the realm of religion?
I believe Tony Blair’s efforts fall in line with a wider agenda pushed by global elites. As I see it, this agenda seeks to achieve two main things. Firstly, it creates a false dichotomy where practitioners of the world’s religions are carved up into acceptable and unacceptable categories; either “extreme” or “moderate,” based on their utility and acquiescence to economic and political globalisation led by the West. Secondly, it deflects blame from Western imperial actions which stoke the flames of extremism (and sometimes directly support it), in an attempt to validate the ongoing fight against extremism which is portrayed as an existential threat to civilisation – while globalisation is peddled as the cure.
In this way, the fight against extremism becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy, with the West covertly supporting religious extremism on one hand, while fighting it on the other (in turn fomenting further extremism in response and continuing the cycle) which then gives credence to the narrative that extremism must be fought through force and ideology, and that globalisation pushed by the West is a civilising, saving force.
The consequences of this strategy abroad could be perpetual catastrophic foreign wars. But a more silent consequence may be in the steady erosion of cultural identity and a narrowing of spiritual choices in the West and abroad, through the hollowing-out of major religions to make them more “integrated” to serve under the aegis of Western-led globalisation. These co-opted faiths would then help to bring the populations they service into line as the economic and political phalanx of globalisation advances. Meanwhile, beliefs and practices that do not integrate well with this new world order will be increasingly seen as outdated obstacles to progress, or tarred as “extremist” – a manoeuvre helped by foreign policies fuelling violent extremism, with the violent religious fanatics fought by the west reflecting poorly on spirituality in general, and its place in the world today. In a global climate where faith-based groups and cultures are increasingly seen as “backward,” world faiths will likely feel greater pressure to “integrate” into a sterile global system to survive and avoid being left behind.
The long-term aim may ultimately be to establish a global economic and cultural order advanced by the world’s elite as the superior moral authority worldwide, rendering spiritual reverence either subservient to it or irrelevant.
There is undoubtedly some truth in Tony Blair’s claim that extremism is a cause of 21st century conflict. But his selective application of the “extremist” label completely leaves out and excuses extreme and violent actions by western powers. Extremism can be defined as imposing one’s belief, ideology, or worldview forcefully to the detriment of others. Invading and occupying a country on the basis of a false claim and causing countless deaths – and continuing to justify such intervention and calling for more in the name of “democracy” or whatever cause – surely meets the definition of an “extremist” position. If Tony Blair really wants to understand and counter extremism in the world, he would do well to start with the man in the mirror.
Religious extremism is a problem in the world, but shifting all blame onto it for global conflict while ignoring and advancing western extremism serves a global agenda that has grave consequences, both for world peace, and for religious freedom.

Britain Exit UK

The United Kingdom could benefit from leaving the European Union only if it retained freedom of movement within EU borders and committed to free trade.

CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS Could Be Forced To Promote Gay Relationships
Schools should be forced to promote gay relationships in sex EDUCATION lessons, union leaders say.
The National Union of Teachers has called for a ‘positive portrayal of same sex relationships’ in lessons to be made ‘compulsory’ under the next government.
It said MPs had a duty to tackle ‘homophobia, biphobia and transphobia’ in schools and create a ‘positive climate of understanding about sexuality’.
But critics accused the NUT of ‘thought control’ and said the ‘intolerant’ proposals risked ‘oversexualising’ children at a young age.
Meanwhile, Christian groups warned it would compel teachers at faith schools to act against their beliefs.
However, the union said the changes were needed to tackle prejudice which was ‘still strongly prevalent in our schools’.
Simon Calvert of the Christian Institute said: ‘This motion is itself an act of intolerance towards mainstream Christians and their beliefs. It would force Christian teachers to have to CHOOSE between their faith and their job.
‘I wonder whether Christian MEMBERS of the NUT who have paid their dues can expect any help from the NUT when their jobs are on the line.’
He added that Church schools already teach ‘love and tolerance’ of others without having to explicitly approve of same sex relationships.
The proposal was contained in a motion on lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) rights passed by the NUT at its annual conference in Harrogate yesterday.
It stated: ‘Conference INSTRUCTS the executive to call upon the present and future government to … make it compulsory that all schools’ sex education policies include a positive portrayal of same sex relationships.’
Other proposals included promoting LGBT HISTORY Month – which celebrates gay and transgender rights movements – in every school.
The motion also advocated supporting transgender students and staff ‘while transitioning and after’.
Christine Blower, NUT General Secretary, said: ‘We need education policy that develops CURRICULUM for children and young people that supports the democratic values of a diverse Britain – including LGBT equality.’
The law would also see teachers at Muslim and Jewish schools compelled to promote gay marriage and other issues that go against their beliefs.
The proposal comes amid a row over the government’s new REQUIREMENT for schools to teach ‘fundamental British values’, which include tolerance of other faiths and lifestyles.
CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS have complained they were branded ‘intolerant’ and marked down by Ofsted after children were asked about gays and lesbians.
Durham Free School is SET to CLOSE after inspectors branded it an educational failure and said some children displayed ‘discriminatory’ views towards people of other faiths.
Meanwhile, Grindon Hall CHRISTIAN SCHOOL in Sunderland was put in special measures after failing to meet Ofsted’s British values criteria. Inspectors were said to have asked pupils if they knew what lesbians ‘did’ and if any of their friends felt trapped in the ‘wrong body’.
The drive was formed in response to the Trojan Horse scandal in which Muslim hardliners allegedly tried to impose an Islamic agenda on schools in Birmingham.
The NUT motion RENEWED fears teachers would be required to go beyond their remit in tackling such a sensitive SUBJECT.
Andrea Williams from Christian Concern said: ‘This kind of policy is dangerous for our children who are being oversexualised at a very young age.
‘They are being introduced to concepts and having normalised same sex relationships which robs them of their innocence and is not good for their emotional and moral wellbeing.’
Chris McGovern, of the Campaign for Real Education, said: ‘The rights of groups who oppose gay marriage on sincere religious grounds should be respected as much as those who support gay marriage. Thought control should not be promoted by the NUT.’
A Church of England spokesman said it is ‘fully committed to sex and relationship education that allows room for exploration and discussion of relationships, within a framework of Christian values’.
Sex and relationships education is mandatory for pupils at council-run secondary schools. It is also compulsory for children aged between five and 14 at council-run schools to learn about sex as part of the science CURRICULUM

London, UK — The Independent Inquiry Into Child Sex Abuse (IICSA) apologized this week after vital testimony from victims of child sexual abuse was “instantly and permanently deleted” from their servers. The agency now claims that there was no security breach, and that while the testimonies were lost, the privacy of the victims is not at risk.
An Independent Inquiry into Child Sexual Abuse (IICSA) was established by the British Home Secretary, Theresa May, on 7 July 2014. The inquiry was intended to investigate why pedophile rings seemed to be exempt from capture.

“Due to a change in our website address to http://www.iicsa.org.uk on 14 September, any information submitted to the Inquiry between 14 September and 2 October through the online form on the Share your experience page of our website, was instantly and permanently deleted before it reached our engagement team. We are very sorry for any inconvenience or distress this will cause and would like to reassure you that no information was put at risk of disclosure or unauthorised access.
Due to the security measures on our website, your information cannot be found or viewed by anyone else as it was immediately and permanently destroyed. We would like to apologise again to anyone who submitted details to the Inquiry during this time and to ask you to please resubmit your information through the online form.
