An Air France passenger jet from Rio to Paris that made an emergency landing in northeastern Brazil with 405 passengers aboard
due to a bomb threat was scheduled to take off again Sunday night after no explosive was found on board.
The delay in the plane's departure from the northeastern city of Recife was necessary because regulations require that the crew receive a certain amount of rest,
an Air France spokesman in Brazil told The Associated Press by telephone Sunday. He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to discuss the matter.

Solange Argenta, a spokeswoman with the Brazilian government's airport authority, Infraero, said Sunday that authorities inspected the plane and its luggage "and no explosive was found."
The Air France spokesman said take off from Recife was now scheduled for 8:10 p.m. local time (23.10 GMT).
All 405 passengers and 18 crew members were safely evacuated from Air France Flight 443 on Saturday night, said Infraero spokesman Jorge Andrade.

The bomb threat was phoned in to Rio's international airport by a female voice about 30 minutes after the plane took off, the Air France spokesman said.
The control tower contacted the jet and the decision was made to land in Recife, he said.

In Paris, Air France spokesman Jerome N'Guyen confirmed a full inspection of the plane had been completed and nothing suspicious had been found.
Passengers were taken to nearby hotels until the plane could take off again.
Argenta said the flight originally took off at 4:20 p.m. local time (3:20 p.m. EDT; 1920 GMT) and that the plane landed in Recife at 7:53 p.m (6:53 p.m. EDT; 2253 GMT).

The jet taxied to a secluded area of the airport and those on board were quickly removed, Infraero said in a statement. The airport was closed for about 30 minutes, and then reopened.
Flight 443 was on the same route as an Air France jet that crashed in June 2009 off Brazil's northeastern coast, killing all 228 on board.

Wreckage from an Air France jet lost over the Atlantic 2 years ago with 288 people on board has been found.
The cause of the crash is still unknown - NOT ADMITTED.
Searchers have located wreckage without giving details.
The black boxes have NOT been found.

Flight 447 from Rio de Janeiro to Paris came down in a storm on 1 June 2009.
A French judge recently filed manslaughter charges against Air France over the crash.
An initial search found 50 bodies and hundreds of pieces of the plane, including its torn-off tail, while the last search ended in failure in May 2010.
The crash has been partially blamed on malfunctioning speed sensors but officials believe other factors must also have contributed.

July 5, 2012  Final Air France crash report says pilots failed to react swiftly
A series of errors by pilots and a failure to react effectively to technical problems led to the crash of Air France Flight 447, said France investigation.
The Brazil-to-France flight plunged into the Atlantic Ocean on June 1, 2009, killing all 228 people on board.
The pilots failed to respond effectively to problems with the plane's speed sensors or to correct its trajectory when things first started to go wrong.
Pilots did not know how to react to what was happening.

The airspeed equipment froze up during a storm and gave faulty readings to pilots of the flight from Rio de Janeiro to Paris on June 1, 2009.
As alarms sounded and the autopilot turned off, the pilots pulled up on the nose, causing it to lose speed even though the engines continued to work.
They likely never realized they were facing a simple loss of all 3 airspeed sources.
The report blamed the crash on the loss of airspeed information and "the crew's failure to diagnose the stall situation and consequently a lack of inputs that would have made it possible to recover from it."

TWA 800 Down off Long Island in 1996

TWA 800 was destroyed 20 years ago off the coast of Long Island. Mike Wire was one of the 258 FBI witnesses who reported an apparent missile strike. Recently the CIA released documents pertaining to TWA 800. During review of those documents, I have learned that the CIA had designated me as Witness #1 to the heartbreaking events of that day. For the FBI, I was only Witness #571. How the CIA came to decide upon me is at the heart of this miscarriage of justice.

On July 17, 1996, I was working to get the new Beach Lane Bridge in Westhampton ready to open. The bridge crosses the narrow inland waterway and connects the mainland with a small strip of beach beyond.

As a millwright tradesman, I had been working all day in the mechanical room of the bridge. A little before 8:30 p.m. that night, I surfaced to get some air. I was talking to one of the many men working with me when I saw what looked like a cheap firework rising from beyond the houses along the beach. This wasn’t out of the ordinary for a summer weekday so close to the 4th of July.

Vernon Grose, a former NTSB board member, is now an active supporter of the missile theory.  This case is not a dead issue.

The air traffic controller who monitored the event that night, the NTSB official in charge of reconstructing the plane, several pilots who flew the plane, and several others who worked the investigation, any number of eyewitnesses, including CIA “Witness #1,” the man around whose fully manufactured “second interview” the CIA created its infamous animation.

A primary radar return (ASR-9) indicated vertical movement intersecting TWA 800.  Asked by his supervisor if he had ever seen anything like this before, the controller said yes – while in the Navy doing missile test fires at sea.

A missile from one of the Navy ships was fired and hit the plane. Right after that the ships fled the area.

“We were told by one of the military briefers that security was ramping up severely because ‘they just shot down a commercial airliner off NY City.’ Those were the exact words.”

A retired airline captain related how he watched CNN for hours “with a stick stomach.  Rocket trail(s) from the beach or the ocean up into the sky followed by big booms and an exploding fireball that fell into the sea.”  The government had brought them in a room and threatened their lives and families if they talked about their work, and made them sign papers.
