the Airbus A330 would have survived, according to an explosives expert. Only the person sitting next to him probably would have died.

December 29, 2009 Second person detained after foiled bombing
A person was detained by customs at Detroit Metro Airport on Friday following Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's foiled attack.
2 passengers aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 said they saw a second man being taken away in handcuffs on Christmas Day.
Detroit attorney Kurt Haskell was seated a few rows behind Umar. He saw a second man taken into custody after search dogs
appeared to find something in his carry-on bag. While the dogs sniffed multiple bags, one dog sat down in front of a bag carried
by a middle-aged Indian man who was wearing a nice suit. That man was escorted out of the airport by agents.
Haskell was at the Amsterdam airport and on flight 253 and provided information not covered by the corporate media.
He addressed the unprofessional behavior of the FBI and airport security after the plane landed at Detroit. He characterized
their behavior as a complete embarrassment.
Haskell questioned why officials have not released the Amsterdam airport
security video that will reveal crucial information about
the sharp-dressed man who escorted Mutallab to the boarding area.
The well-dressed Indian man insisted Mutallab be boarded on the plane without a passport and when an airport employee refused
to do so Mutallab and the Indian man went to talk with a supervisor. The Indian man tried to pass off Mutallab as a Sudanese refugee.
Abdul Mudallad, officially Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, tried to blow up a plane as it landed in Detroit, Michigan.
Abdul said he was an agent for al-Qaeda and got the explosives in Yemen. It was a sophisticated mix of powder and liquid
which failed when he tried to detonate it.
The PETN explosive powder on his body was undetected when he boarded a KLM Flight in Nigeria, and second when
he connected at Amsterdam to Northwest 253 to Detroit. He was on a US intelligence watch list but not on the
US government's no-fly list. WHY NOT? al Qaeda is newly established in Europe.
At first this was reported as a firecracker aboard Northwest Flight 253.
The attack came during the plane's descent as the Airbus 330 carrying 278 passengers was arriving in Detroit from Amsterdam.
Passengers said Abdul Mutallab spent about 20 minutes in the toilet before returning to his seat and pulling a blanket over himself.
Passengers then heard popping noises similar to firecrackers, smelled an odor, and some observed Abdul Mutallab's
pants leg and the wall of the airplane on fire.
Passengers and crew then subdued Abdul Mutallab and used blankets and fire extinguishers to put out the flames.
Abdul Mutallab claimed to have been acting on instructions from al Qaeda.
He later told authorities he had used a syringe filled with acid to mix with powder taped in his groin.
Delta said the passenger was subdued immediately by passengers.
DEBKA - A smoke alarm alerted the pilot.
ABC - al-Qaida in Yemen apparently behind bomb attempt, sewed materials into suspect's underwear.
NBC - Flight 253 suspect was seen injecting fluid from syringe into substance after he emerged from jet's bathroom.
FOX - Abdul strapped condom filled with explosive to his inner thigh.
Dec 27 Alex Jones came on the radio and said Abdul is a patsy.
Said he was heavily drugged - which I already thot - and HYPNOTIZED.

International airport security stepped up after airliner incident
Security has been tightened for US, British and Dutch airports.
US airport authorities warned incoming passengers they would face delays due to additional security checks.
British anti-terror police raided London addresses connected to the bomber.
Counter-terror measures were stepped up at British airports and flights already bogged down by bad weather
further delayed by subjecting all passengers to separate searches.
The Dutch secret service reported a US request to step up their alert level for airliners destined for the United States.
Abdul is the son of Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, former First Bank chairman. Father has been uncomfortable with
Abdul's extreme religious views and had 6 months ago reported his activities to United States Embassy,

June 1, 2009 an Air France Airbus 330 went down in the Atlantic. There have been other Airbus crashes.
