Tigris and Euphrates rivers losing water reserves at a rapid pace
March 13, 2013
A large portion of the Middle East lost freshwater reserves rapidly during the past decade. New data revealed already an arid region of Tigris-Euphrates Basin, which grows even drier due to human consumption of water for drinking and agriculture. The research team observed the Tigris and Euphrates river basins – including parts of Turkey, Syria, Iraq and Iran, and found that 144 cubic kilometers (117 million acre feet) of fresh water was lost from 2003 to 2009 – the roughly equivalent to the volume of the Dead Sea. About 60%  of the loss was attributed to the pumping of groundwater from underground reservoirs. When a drought shrinks the available surface water supply, irrigators and others turn to groundwater.

The team led by Jay Famiglietti and Kate Voss of the University of California–Irvine (UCI) and Georgetown University with other researchers from NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center and the National Center for Atmospheric Research, used data acquired by twin gravity-measuring satellites of the Gravity Recovery and Climate Experiment (GRACE).

According to Jay Famiglietti, GRACE data show an alarming rate of decrease in total water storage in the Tigris and Euphrates river basins, which currently have the second fastest rate of groundwater storage loss on Earth, after India. The rate was especially striking after the 2007 drought. Meanwhile, demand for freshwater continues to rise, and the region does not coordinate its water management because of different interpretations of international laws.

GRACE data show a seasonal fluctuation of total water storage, and also an overall downward trend, suggesting that groundwater is being pumped and used faster than natural processes can replenish it. Within any given region on Earth, rising or falling water reserves alter the planet’s mass, influencing the gravity field of the area. GRACE satellites tells us how water storage changes over time by periodically measuring gravity in each region.

The researchers calculated that about one-fifth of the water losses in their Tigris-Euphrates study region came from snowpack shrinking and soil drying up, partly in response to a 2007 drought. Another fifth of the losses is caused by loss of surface water from lakes and reservoirs. The majority of the loss—approximately 73 million acre feet (90 cubic kilometers)—was due to reductions in groundwater. According to  Jay Famiglietti, principal investigator of the study, that’s enough water to meet the needs of tens of millions to more than a hundred million people in the region each year, depending on regional water-use standards and availability.

The 754,000-square-kilometer (291,000-square-miles) Tigris and Euphrates basin jumped out as a hotspot when UC Irvine researchers looked at the global water ups and down. Within the seven-year period of GRACE data, researchers calculated that water storage in the region shrunk by an average of 20 cubic km (16 million acre feet) a year. This rate of water loss is among the largest liquid freshwater losses on the continents. Meanwhile, the region’s demand for fresh water is rising.

Quote:
“They just do not have that much water to begin with, and they’re in a part of the world that will be experiencing less rainfall with climate change. Those dry areas are getting dryer,” Famiglietti said. “They and everyone else in the world’s arid regions need to manage their available water resources as best they can.”

I have read a few years ago these rivers are shrinking.
At that time bible prophecy preachers believed it was to allow China-Russia to invade Israel on horseback.
Now I wonder if the 200 million man army might be Muslims.
I dont know.  Only a thought.

The Tigris and Euphrates Rivers are 2 of the 4 which bordered the Garden of Eden.
Jerusalem is the heart of the Garden of Eden.
Temple Mount - Mount Zion - Mount Moriah is where some believe God created Adam.

4th generation pastor Perry Stone, Manna Fest, is a fantastic bible preacher!

Lack of water caused Syria conflict
May 10, 2013
I have seen and reporter this before as water war.
Lack of water sparked Syria conflict, and it will worsen Egypt situation too.
One quarter of the Euphrates River runs through Syria but Turkey has drastically reduced the flow of water.
Syria, Jordan and Gaza are also in deep trouble.
Professor Arnon Sofer blames the upheaval in Syria and elsewhere in the Middle East on dwindling water supply.

The population in the Middle East has grown over the past 60 years.
Couple that with Syria water scarcity, and its clear that a conflict would erupt.
The Euphrates runs SE through the center of Syria to Iraq.
The Tigris runs southeast, tracing a short part along Syria border with Turkey before flowing into Iraq.

TURKEY cuts off Euphrates flow
June 1, 2014
Move threatens Syria, Iraq with major water crisis, could collapse dam
The Turkish government may bring unprecedented catastrophes into both Iraq and Syria.
Turkey recently cut off the water supply of the Euphrates River completely.
Ankara began to reduce pumping Euphrates water in April, then cut if off completely in May 2014.
Egypt has always vowed to go to war against any nation that tried to disrupt the flow of the Nile.
Erdogan may be opening a can of worms that he should have left alone.

Turkish aggression against Syria
The Turkish government recently cut off the flow of the Euphrates River.
Syria is primarily threatened, and also Iraq with a major water crisis.
The water level in Lake Assad (a man-made water reservoir on the Euphrates) has dropped by about six meters, leaving millions of Syrians without drinking water.

This violates international norms.
FACT  -  Ukraine has cut off water from Crimea this year.

Euphrates, Turkey, Syria and prophecy
Euphrates originates in Turkey flows thru Syria and Iraq to join the Tigris
Bible prophecy says Euphrates will dry up allowing armies to attack Israel
.

Euphrates River Drying Up
February 21, 2015
hopeofisrael.net -  Turkey stops flow of Euphrates River.  Turkey built 5 dams and Syria building 2 dams. They are storing water in large reservoirs for drinking and for farm irrigation.

The regulation of the Euphrates River has caused the level of the river to drop by 3/4 in 10 years. Agricultural land is being destroyed by the advancing desert, especially in Iraq. Choking dust storms have forced the airport to close in Baghdad, Iraq.

It also appears that God is holding back the rain in the area of the Euphrates River. The lack of rain has greatly contributed to the falling level of the water in the Euphrates River.

Tigris and Euphrates Rivers are Drying Up
NASA indicated that the Fertile Crescent region in the Middle East is losing fresh water at a rapid rate.  The water flow in the Euphrates and Tigris Rivers has decreased and the area has become cracked and dry.

Walid Shoebat
March 23, 2015
-  The Nile and the Euphrates are drying up.  Both Rivers are in the Bible.  An inevitable Famine is plaguing the Muslim World.  Black horse of Revelation 6.

Egyptian President al-Sisi signed agreement on Ethiopian Renaissance Dam will be a burden on Egypt. Controlling the Nile has dire consequences on agriculture and experts predict famine is on the horizon.

The Euphrates River and the Nile, both on the news and both are predicted to dry up causing cataclysmic events on the nations that depend on them. The Bible predicts that the Euphrates will stop the flow of water so that 200 million man army enters to make its way to invade Jerusalem and how the Aswan Dam in Egypt will be  completely destroyed.

The Bible also predicted that a war will erupt where Muslim nations will invade Israel, not just over the issue of Jerusalem but over FOOD!  Ezekiel 38:13   The price of wheat will skyrocket.  A quart of wheat for a denarius, and 3 quarts of barley for a denarius.  Revelation 6:6

Ezekiel 38 is forming
Russia lifts the military embargo and supplies Libya.   Libya is named in Ezekiel 38 as Put.  Gog and Magog are starting to cobble up Middle East in supposed defense of those nations it supports.  Sudan will be next.  Iran is already in as is Turkey.

The prophet Ezekiel predicted almost 2,600 years ago that Rosh (modern Russia) would lead an end time invasion of Israel. The allies of Russia in this invasion are ancient places that today are Central Asia (Magog), Iran (Persia), Libya (Put), Turkey (Meshech, Tubal, Gomer, and Togarmah), and Sudan (Cush), all of which are Islamic nations.

These nations are listed in Ezekiel 38:5-6,
Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya with them; all of them with shield and helmet:  Gomer, and all his bands; the house of Togarmah of the north quarters, and all his bands: and many people with thee.

As we identify these other nations that will join with Russia, we discover that all of them are Islamic nations:

Persia - Today this is the nation known as Iran.

Ethiopia is Sudan -  Do not confuse this with modern day Ethiopia.  The Ethiopia described by Ezekiel was located directly south of Egypt and would correspond to the modern country of Sudan.  Sudan is a hard-line Islamic nation.

Libya (Put) =  This refers to the modern country of Libya, an Islamic nation.

Gomer and Togarmah =  These ancient names found their location in what today is the country of Turkey.
Two countries (among others) which are noted for their omission:   Jordan and Egypt.
Thus, the four countries which will align themselves with Russia to invade Israel are these:
Iran
Sudan
Libya
Turkey

Aral Sea nearly dry
Mar 26, 2017
-  Alarming comparison of the Aral Sea in 1989 and 2014.
The Aral Sea, once the fourth largest lake in the world, has almost completely dried up.  Originally, the lake covered 26,300 sq miles between Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan.  It has been steadily shrinking since the 1960s after Soviet irrigation projects diverted rivers that fed into it, splitting it into four, much smaller lakes.

NASA satellite images revealed the entire eastern portion had completely dried up, and now officially called the Aralkum Desert.

Dead Sea

Over the past 25 years, the level of the Dead Sea has dropped nearly 25 meters. Today almost no water flows into it from the Jordan River, whose waters are diverted to provide drinking water to Jordan, Syria, Lebanon and Israel.
