   NATO  *  Friend or Foe?

NATO is anti-Israel

May 19, 2010
"The draft document, released  May 17, 2010, seeks to bridge a growing rift between the U.S., which favors a greater international role for NATO,
and European nations that want it to retain its traditional defensive focus.

"NATO must be versatile and efficient enough to operate far from home," said former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, head of the team of experts who wrote the document.
"(But) in order to sustain the political will for operations outside its area, NATO must see that all its members are reassured about the security of their home territories." ....

Missile defense is most effective when it is a joint enterprise, and cooperation ... between the alliance and its partners especially Russia is highly desirable," the blueprint said.
It favors U.S. battlefield nuclear weapons remaining in Europe, another legacy of the Cold War.

As long as nuclear weapons exist, NATO should continue to maintain secure and reliable nuclear forces ... at the minimum level required by the prevailing security environment," the document said.
Albright said the alliance must look to forging stronger partnerships with all global partners, not just the European Union and Russia, to foster security and resolve crises.

NATO unveils draft of new mission statement
May 19, 2010
NATO must win the war in Afghanistan, expand ties with Russia and even China, counter the threat posed by Iran's missiles,
and assure the security of its 28 members, according to the alliance's proposed mission statement for the next decade.

The draft document, released Monday, seeks to bridge a growing rift between the U.S., which favors a greater international role for NATO, and European nations that want it to retain its traditional defensive focus.

"NATO must be versatile and efficient enough to operate far from home," said former U.S. Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, head of the team of experts who wrote the document.
"(But) in order to sustain the political will for operations outside its area, NATO must see that all its members are reassured about the security of their home territories."

The document warned governments not to slash defense spending at a time of economic crisis, because of the growing discrepancy in military capabilities between the United States and Europe's NATO members. Most European nations are not even meeting the minimal requirement of devoting 2% of their GDP to defense.

America's latest defense budget of over $710 billion dwarfs the combined annual military expenditures of its European allies, which total about $280 billion. Despite the added expenses of the Afghan war, many European capitals are planning further cuts or freezing their current outlays.

NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen will use the draft as a basis for a new strategic concept that will be submitted for approval at the alliance's next summit in Lisbon, Portugal, in November.

Founded in 1949 to counter the threat of a Soviet invasion, the 28-member alliance is in the midst of a mid-life crisis as it searches for relevance almost 20 years after the collapse of its communist rival.

The previous strategic concept focused mainly on NATO's peacekeeping role in places like Bosnia and Kosovo. It was adopted in 1999, soon after the end of the Cold War and before the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks in the United States forced the alliance to take on missions such as counterinsurgency warfare in Afghanistan.

The war is the largest mission ever attempted by the alliance. More than 100,000 NATO troops, about two-thirds of them American, are currently deployed there. Nearly 1,800 NATO soldiers have been killed in the conflict.

Fogh Rasmussen said, "In today's world we may have to go beyond our borders to defend our borders. I can mention Afghanistan as a case in point.
But Afghanistan is not a make or break situation for NATO. NATO is about much more than Afghanistan despite the fact that there is so much focus on Afghanistan right now."

The new document said the alliance should focus on improving ties with Moscow, which has helped NATO in Afghanistan by opening an overland supply route from Europe to that landlocked country.

NATO and Russia should work more closely together on other fields of mutual interest such as missile defense, counterterrorism, counternarcotics and maritime security, the document said.

"It means a real partnership with Russia based on shared interests," Fogh Rasmussen told reporters.

The draft statement emphasized the threat posed by Iran's nascent ballistic missile capability.

"Missile defense is most effective when it is a joint enterprise, and cooperation ... between the alliance and its partners especially Russia is highly desirable," the blueprint said.

It favors U.S. battlefield nuclear weapons remaining in Europe, another legacy of the Cold War. Several European governments have requested that they be withdrawn, saying the outdated bombs no longer serve any military purpose.

"As long as nuclear weapons exist, NATO should continue to maintain secure and reliable nuclear forces ... at the minimum level required by the prevailing security environment," the document said.

Albright said the alliance must look to forging stronger partnerships with all global partners, not just the European Union and Russia, to foster security and resolve crises.
"We were open-minded in terms of partnerships around the world," she said. "We've looked into ways of partnering with China in various ways."

A few years ago I was studying the "Sea Beast" in the book of Revelation and I seemed to hear the Holy Spirit say , "NATO."  I kind of laughed it off thinking "North Atlantic" and "Sea" was kind of funny.  But about a year later the message returned.  I started to take it more seriously and eventually I came to the understanding that "NATO" was the "teeth" of the Sea Beast.  It wasn't long after that that NATO inserted itself in the war between Israel and Lebanon. And that had nothing to do with protecting Europe  from Russia.   I am now pretty much convinced that the NATO forces are going to be one of the major military forces of the Sea Beast.  They will be the "teeth" that put the bite on any nation that does not go along with the Beast.  These endtime beast's are difficult to vision and are a conglomerate of different forces and organizations.

Global troops to protect (?) Israel

May 25, 2010   Aaron Klein
Previous international forces failed duties, allowed terrorists to re-arm.
A U.S. plan envisions stationing international troops along Israel's border with a future  Palestinian state, WND has learned.

Palestinian Authority officials privy to the plan say the Obama administration proposed deploying NATO soldiers along the Palestinian side of a future border with Israel as well as along the borders of Jordan and any future Palestinian state.

Israeli government sources confirmed such a plan has been proposed.
The sources said the concept is not exclusive to the Obama administration. Both Presidents Clinton and Bush broached the idea of stationing international troops along the borders of a future Palestinian state.

The hot new best-seller, "The Manchurian President," by Aaron Klein reveals inside story on Team Obama and its members. Now available autographed at WND's Superstore!

International troops and monitors do not boast a positive track record in fulfilling their protective duties on behalf of Israel.

Monitors previously stationed along the Gaza-Egypt border fled their duties multiple times amid Hamas threats and attacks. The monitors were deployed to report any instances of weapons smuggling or terrorist infiltration along the border.

Also, following the Second Lebanon War in 2006, about 15,000 soldiers under the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, or UNIFIL, deployed in South Lebanon with the objective of ensuring a truce between Israel and Hezbollah as well as to stop the Hezbollah terror group from rearming.

Hezbollah, with international troops present, has acquired more rockets and sophisticated weaponry from Syria and Iran than before the 2006 war. The group reportedly has enough rockets to blanket Israeli population centers for a prolonged period of time.

Israeli security officials told WND the Israeli army routinely passes to UNIFIL commanders aerial photographs and video images of Hezbollah weapons smuggling routes. But with few exceptions, the international forces have not taken action.
The security officials are concerned the UNIFIL forces could get in the way and impede any future Israeli defensive action needed against Hezbollah.

Obama at NATO summit in Lisbon
19 November 2010
A NATO summit in Portugal discussing new threats such as cyber-warfare and how to protect its 28 member states from ballistic missile attack.
Barack Obama and Russian President Medvedev attending

Afghanistan plans to bring combat operations to an end by 2014.
NATO to transition to Afghan responsibility in 2011
Pentagon said this did not mean all coalition forces would leave by that date.
Meanwhile, the US has announced it will send Abrams tanks to Afghanistan in December for the first time.
Canadian and Danish troops have already used tanks in Afghanistan.

The Lisbon talks are expected to shape the future of NATO.

Asked about US plans to start bringing our troops home next year, Obama said he is 'not aware of concrete plans for withdrawal of troops.
On the contrary, I think all allies are prepared to stay committed as long as it takes to finish our job.'  HINT - It will NEVER be finished, Afganistan is unwinnable.
There are some 130,000 international troops attached to the Nato-led International Security Assistance Force (Isaf) in Afghanistan.

NATO missile shield
November 20, 2010
By bowing to Ankara's demand to omit Iran, Syria and their ballistic missiles as a threat from the NATO agreement to establish a missile shield base in Turkey,
Barak HUSSEIN Obama has devalued US security guarantees offered Israel.
The missile shield and its location in Europe were conceived in the first place for detecting and defusing Iranian and Syrian ballistic missile before they reached Europe or the United States.

The missile base will come under the command of a Turkish general.
TURKEY is totally aligned with China, Iran and Syria.
They will NOT defend Israel!  debka is far too easy on this!
http://www.debka.com/article/9159

US security guarantees for Israel worthless when Turkey controls missile shield
USA and NATO surrender to Turkey, which is the MOST DANGEROUS nation in the mideast today.

Military retreat at NATO summit
November 21, 2010
- The NATO summit agreement on staged handovers to Afghanistan by 2014 is a good fit for Taliban demand for foreign troops to quit Afghanistan
Taliban took the NATO statement as the Western alliance admission that it cannot defeat them.
http://www.debka.com/article/9161

Appears to me the west admits Afganistan war is unwinnable, yet Obama is still eager to send our troops to their deaths.

Did NATO Secretly Study UFOs?
June 2011
Robert Dean, a long-time figure within the field of research into all things flying and saucer-shaped, maintains that while working with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) in the 1960s, he learned that NATO had conducted a secret study of the UFO issue. More controversially, Dean says that part of the study demonstrated that, at the time in question, NATO had come to the conclusion that we had four different civilizations – cultures, intelligences, if you will – that were present here on Earth and that were secretly visiting us and even interacting with us. One of the most interesting conclusions of the report, and which struck a particularly strong chord with Dean, was that one of the groups – of the civilizations or cultures that were here on this planet – was identical with us; or rather, that we were identical with them. And that startling revelation, added Dean, made a vast and profound impression on the people involved in the investigations.

I have read in several places the pope and Barak Obama are looking for a world leader in a UFO

October 30, 2014
