Free speech in Kansas? I guess not...
Pastor facing court date after sharing gospel with Muslims in Wichita, Kansas
Sept 2010

A pastor is facing a court date after sharing the gospel with Muslims -- in Kansas.

About 14 people, including three senior pastors, went to the local mosque to distribute to Muslims packets containing the books of John and Romans in English and Arabic and a DVD with testimonies of former Muslims. Pastor Mark Holick of Spirit One Christian Center was one of those passing out the packets to people leaving the mosque.

Holick tells OneNewsNow that when local police officers arrived on the scene, he was handcuffed then detained in a patrol car, where he repeatedly asked what crime he had committed.

And then about 15 minutes later, 20 minutes later, something like that, they finally came over and told me that I was being charged with 'loitering' and 'failure to disperse,'" the pastor shares.

Asked if this episode occurred in Saudi Arabia, he replies, with a chuckle: "No, this was in Wichita, Kansas."

The pastor says it was very disconcerting to see the gospel squelched -- especially on a public sidewalk in a country with a constitutional guarantee of free speech. Holick believes police are suggesting that he was blocking traffic on the driveway.

"Of course we never did do that," he assures. "There would be no reason for us to block vehicles -- and they probably have no idea how much I like all of my organs and bones perfectly in the position they're in right now."

Holick says serious free-speech rights are in question, so he is asking the Alliance Defense Fund to represent him. There has been no decision on that so far.

Judge Shields Evidence in Kansas Bomb Plot Case
8 Feb 2014
Government evidence against a man accused of plotting a suicide bomb attack at a Kansas airport will be shielded from the public, a federal judge ruled Friday.

U.S. District Judge Monti Belot granted the prosecution's request for a protective order in the case of Terry Loewen, a 58-year-old avionics technician charged with plotting to attack Wichita's Mid-Continent Airport on Dec. 13. The ruling sets out procedures for the handling of sensitive evidence exchanged before trial, resolving the government's fears that publicly disclosing evidence would expose its investigative methods and ultimately compromise their ability to stop future plots.

Loewen was arrested Dec. 13, after a monthslong undercover sting, when he allegedly tried to drive a van filled with inert explosives onto the airport tarmac, a plot prosecutors say was timed to cause "maximum carnage" at the height of the holiday travel season. Loewen has pleaded not guilty to charges of attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction, attempting to use an explosive device to damage property and attempting to give material support to al-Qaida.

Belot's order forbids making available any materials provided by the government in the case to those who aren't involved, and it allows Loewen to have access to the material only in the presence of his attorney, who must retain possession of the evidence.

It also specifically prohibits prosecutors or defense attorneys from disseminating evidence to the media, and forbids disclosing the real or fake identities of the undercover agents who befriended Loewen in the months leading to his arrest.

All materials provided to Loewen's attorneys will remain the property of the government, Belot ruled. Loewen's attorneys must return them and all copies once the case ends and erase from computers and servers any that exist in electronic form. Attorney notes also must be destroyed once the case is resolved.

Defense attorneys had previously told the court they would not disclose any information provided by the government, and they tried to assure Belot they would not disclose the FBI agents' identities and that such "professional obligations" didn't require a protective order. They criticized the government for trying to "micromanage" the defense with what they called burdensome and intrusive restrictions.

Jewish center shooting kills 3
April 13, 2014
3 shot and killed in Jewish Community Center in Overland Park Kansas.
Another person was injured in a shooting at the nearby Village Shalom assisted living facility.
Witness heard a gunshot and saw a man standing outside a car with a shotgun and somebody laying on the ground.  A suspect is in custody.
Kansas City has had a sniper shooting at passing cars for at least a week.  I wonder.

WHY do people kill Jews during their holidays?

yet another attempt to push for more gun control...

Westboro Baptist Church to picket funeral of Kansas Jewish center shooting victims
The Westboro Baptist Church...announced Wednesday that it would picket the funeral of two of the three victims of Sunday’s shooting attack at a Jewish Community Center in Overland Park. The church, which is considered “homophobic, anti-Semitic hate group” by the Anti-Defamation League, is infamous for picketing the funerals of American servicemen killed in Afganistan and Iraq and for its vocal anti-homosexual position.

Virus hits Kansas City
Aug 30, 2014
Enterovirus 68 is striking children, hospitalizing 30 kids a day.
It is unusual in August, and causes severe breathing trouble resembling asthma exacerbations.
Enterovirus 68 is well-known around the world, but not been seen in Kansas City before.
Hand washing, covering your cough and not sending your child to school if they appears sick can help control the spread.
There is no anti-viral medicine for enterovirus 68 and no vaccine.

EV-D68 Virus hits 10 states
Sept 8, 2014
A respiratory virus is sending hundreds of children to hospitals in Missouri, the Midwest and beyond. This could be just the tip of the iceberg in 10 states - Colorado, North Carolina, Georgia, Ohio, Iowa, Illinois, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. Enteroviruses are common. When you have a bad summer cold, often what you have is an enterovirus. The season often hits its peak in September. What is unusual is that there have been so many hospitalizations.
Is it a bio weapon, lab virus, or poor diets?

Staff noticed an initial spike on August 15, took off right after school started.
This EV-D68 enterovirus is uncommon, but not new. It was first identified in the 1960s and there have been fewer than 100 reported cases since that time.  EV-D68 was seen last year in the United States and this year in various parts of the world.
I reported this Aug. 30 also.

October is Zombie preparedness month.  WHAT!?
Sept. 30, 2014
Does that have to do with Holloweek   -  or Nov. erections?
Kansas is gearing up for the zombie apocalypse.
Kansas is encouraging residents to be prepared for any potential crisis by creating an emergency plan and stockpiling 3 days worth of survival supplies.
I recommend a month.
